Mijn VistaPrint Elektronische Visitekaartje
As most of you
have already discovered on Facebook, we are back home from London.... We had
a fabulous time and really enjoyed visiting the city again after almost 8 yrs of
not visiting.
I am uploading
pics to Facebook from all the things we did... well... from almost everything...
There is one
thing we did where i do not have pictures from.... and that is our visit to the
ER of a London Hospital...
Yep... you
read that right... we spent almost an entire night at the ER with
Kaya
We had a wonderful day that saturday, enjoyed it very
much and ended it with a lovely dinner at the Rainforest Café... on Kaya's
request...
When we got back to the hotel, we watched a bit of
television and then after having freshened up we all went to
bed...
All of a sudden Geert woke me up and told me Kaya had
vomitted... i was thinking "oh my... not like in Berlin
!"
Kaya was sitting on the edge of her sofabed... and
before i could ask anything she vomitted again... so i quickly rushed her to the
bathroom, left her in Geert's care and put some clothes on so i could get some
help at the reception. I explained what happened and they said they would
send up a cleaner immediately and would get us new sheets for the bed as well...
i was also asked if Kaya was allright or did i think she needed a doctor or go
to hospital...
I told them she was fine and that it would probably be
okay, you know what it is like, once it's out, they usually feel heaps
better...
I got back upstairs and Geert told me Kaya had vomitted
again... and was feeling cold...
Housekeeping came by to clean up the mess and change the
bedding... and we went back to bed....
10 minutes
later... Kaya is in the bathroom again... 10 minutes later we are all back in
bed...
this is
repeating several times... and i see Kaya getting worse and worse...
her stomach is
empty... she has nothing to throw up, but yet she keeps going... she is in pain
and is throwing up bile
we decide
there is no way we are getting through the night like this, Kaya needs help and
she needs it soon
so back
downstairs i go and i ask the reception to call a doctor, when i'm on the phone
i get told the soonest we can get a doctor come see us at the hotel is around
10am in the morning... that is more than 9 hours wait, nope.. not good enough
for me... so i decide to let the reception call me a taxi while we get ready so
we can go to the hospital.
10 minutes
later we are on our way....
When we arrive
at the hospital, you can tell it is a saturday night.... lots of people in the
ER, mostly drunk people... luckily we only have to wait a short time cause we're
bringing in a sick child.
we are taken
to the children's department of the ER and there we wait for a nurse to come
check on Kaya... we tell what happened... and meanwhile Kaya keeps vomitting and
being in pain...
it takes them
more than 2 hours to finally decide that she needs something to stop the
vomitting... i told them that from the beginning...
then they have
to go search for the drug she needs, cause it's not in stock at the ER... so we
wait another 30 minutes....
and then they
need 30 minutes to try to get a needle in Kaya's
veins...
Geert at that
moment is almost as pale as Kaya since it seems we're not moving forward with
any treatment for her and she keeps being in pain... and i'm trying my best to
remain calm and demand someone who knows how to get a needle in to come do the
job
by 5am Kaya
finally receives the drug to stop the urge to vomit and to stop the pain she is
feeling.... the doctor also prescribes an IV-fluid to avoid her getting
dehydrated...
around 6am, we
finally get the all clear to go home....
when we arrive
at the hotel i ask the reception to bring our breakfast to our room around 11am
since all we want to do right now is SLEEP !!!!
we get the
roomservice without any extra charge what so ever... great service
!
that sunday we
scale down our program so Kaya can rest and
recover....
we did get to enjoy the rest of our vacation though
since she did recover very well, altho at times she did feel a bit tired more
easily
