Kiev, Oekraïne Thursday and Friday February 20th & 21th

Not to astound, only to reflect

Kiev revolution, fighting for democracy.

Many records were passing. Newsletters, journals, broadcasts, social media and so on. News about Kiev was fast going.
Reports were colored very differently.
Some journalist/photographers were eyewitness of government forces conscious killing citizens.
Others saw police snipers protecting their unarmed colleagues.
The truth... has the color of a prisma.

This said, some questions raised. How will the future look like.
For example, is the far right opposition so pro Europe? How genuine are they? Is Yulia Tymoshenko, going for stability or revenge?Oekraïne bankrupt and who will finance? Europe? Russia?
Will Oekraïne stay uniform? The difference between Russia minded Eastern and the Western is huge.
V. Putin likes to see Oekraïne lean to Russia.

Do not get my questioning above wrong.
I do certainly hope society of Oekraïne can build a stronger economy and a grow to stability.
But that takes a long way and it all has yet to come.

Maybe you are wondering who I am and why I am blogging about this.
I was just one of many photographers and journalists, present in Kiev observing a beautiful city fall into black pieces.
Watching people getting hurt and killed. Watching families mourn.
Seeing people not being afraid but very resolute fighting for freedom and democracy.
Angry people, shouting in a language I did not understand but with very obvious expressions.
Paranoia, non trust in journalists or photographers. Lots believed the press was a puppet of government crossing territory, their Independence Square. It was safe one moment and only 5sec later getting into a dangerous position. I can and will not contradict I was anxious....

I was not as courageous as I thought I would be, getting my lens focused at a dead body made me confused.
Flipside the truth had to be pointed or focused, the world was alarmed by government killing citizens. Seeing is believing.
My assignment was photographing images that needs no words. Fire and fireworks, explosions, smoke, stank, dark clouds, shouting, crying, angry, expressions, gunshots, bullets, victims, praying, bodies, attacks. Therefore I had to be in the middle and above.
I was trying to captive a not to be captivated significant truth.

Open end.
