This blogging really brought me back into the news, not that i didn't follow the news before this blog, but i got more attention for certain topics. Some of the themes we had to write on were not very easy for me, because those topics didn't really interest me, such as sports. I found it fun to do this and certainly how we had to do it, we could develop an own writing style and somehow we could put our own opinion in the articles. I especially liked to write about celebs and leisure because that are things i'm interested in, I like to mock with stars and I like talking about stuff you could do with your spare time, especially when I can chose which kind of leisure, such as festivals in summer. It was really instructive to do this and I now know that I still can write English! I lost my hope when I got my results of the examination, but still I know that I can make myself clear in English language.
This task gave us the chance to dig in the news every week. So we searched in our own interests for news we could easily translate into English. Like this, I got attention for another type of grammatical errors. Now I have more attention for the difference between British English and American English. With this task I also learned a couple words. Such as pentathlon and decathlon. I also have discovered that you cant translate Dutch literally into English. I think that I mostly have gone wrong there. Especially at sense structure and word order. Of course the times are also not obvious to translate this way. With that I mostly go wrong. I have tried not to translate literally, because you get more feeling with your senses this way. The most mistakes happen with translating literally. To reduce that I have obtained my news from sites, more then from articles. Then you learn for yourself to order the article as we learned during the lessons Dutch. This task was very informative, but we can only learn things when we are being corrected. Marieke Van Herck
The cycle-racing leage UCI wasn't able to boycot the round paris-nice. All the participants started today, so the UCI couldn't disqualify all those men. The true reason for the boycotting is a fight between UCI and another cycling-racing leage ASO for the entire rule over the cycling world. ASO wants to take it all over, but the UCI doesn't want ASO to control everything. Let's hope now that the "tour de France" goes on!
Tia Hellebaut was very happy after her golden medal on the WK indoor in Valencia, although she went deep for the 800 meter of the pentathlon.
The first world champion in Belgium, it will take some time before I realise this. smiled Hellebaut. Such a complete day is enormously tiring. The day started strange, with all those gun problems on the 60m hordes. I think that didnt effect me as much as others, that was my luck. High jumping went smooth, but it was a shame that only I remained in the competition because then I had to jump fast after each other. That has cost me perhaps that 2m02. In putting the shot I threw more than 13 meters, and it was also each time an improve of my personal record. Ah, the others threw excellent, and then I cannot be inferior. thought Hellebaut.
Jumping was exciting because I jumped first wrong. Then I jumped but carefully, and the third jump was a risk: everything or nothing. For the closed number I knew that the British Kelly Sotherton was going to do something special. She has just run a super 400 meters indoor, so she managed that 2:10.00. She went clearly. I did not have total control over myself. It was the most difficult 800 meters from my career, with much push and draw. I also no longer knew what to do. Still I remained on small distance of Sotherton. And when those last meters came, I stumbled to the finish. Hellebaut looked back.
The British prince Harry is immediately withdrawn from Afghanistan after it had been leaked in the press that he was fighting against the Taliban.
Prince Harry, the youngest son of prince Charles and third in line for the British crown, was fighting during ten weeks against the Taliban to the front in Afghanistan. The 23-year-old prince has fought secretely in the Southern province Helmand, where almost all British soldiers quartered in the country, 7,800 in sum, are. He is as a matter of fact still in Afghanistan, without taking part however in fightings.
An agreement had been closed with the British media to keep the mission of the prince in the interest of its security and those of its friends a secret. In exchange for that, a number of journalists had the chance of visiting the prince in Afghanistan. Nevertheless the news has leaked out on an American Internet site and in the Australian media.

Since this month the organisation has announced some bands which will be seen on stage and the price of the tickets.Iron Maiden is one of the headliners again and I guess those men are never going to quit! Also one of the most famous heavy metalbands will be having a show and with that I mean Judas Priest! It will sure be a mixed weekend cause there are so many different bands coming. Harder bands such as opeth and behemoth will surely attrackt the real all-round metalhead, but bands as Bullet for my valentine will bring more beginning metalheads!It will be a weekend full of singing out loud with Iron maiden and Judas priest(heavy metal) and sonata arctica (power metal), madman headbanging with Behemoth(black/death metal), opeth(extreme progressive metal with a death metal side) and rotting christ (black metal), chilling with bullet for my valentine(emometal), dancing with Korpiklaani(folk metal) en Apocalyptica(symphonic metal played with four chellos and no voice), crazy moshpitting with soilwork (don't know what kind of metal) and In Flames (cfr.soilwork) and enjoying the doom of My dying bride (doom metal). The provincial authorities canceled the Photographic Exhibition "Fenomenale Feminatheek" of Louis PaulBoon. Normally it had to go on summer 2008, but deputy Ludo Helsen said that there was no artistic content.The "Feminatheek" has a content of 22.400 pictures with women posing, it are often just pictures from an old paper that the famous author Boon collected. Helsen finds it ,because of the fact that it's a collection of an author, more appropriate to keep the exhibition in a literary museum instead of a photographic museum. Now they decided to keep the exhibition during the lierary festival "Zogezegd" in Gent, so said curator Anne Provoost last Thursday. She also said she wants to do this exhibition to show the people that prudishness is over these days, and that politics shouldn't draw the line. You can go to the exhibition 4 april 2008.
Britney Spears has been dismissed from the psychiatric department of the hospital in los Angeles where she was treated for a week. The Los Angeles Times reported this.
"it is not known where she went after her discharge, but we have learned that she probably went to one of her houses and later she will undergo a new treatment.", reports the newspaper. A Month ago Britney was hospitalized in haste including ambulances, fire carriages and a police force helicopter. First, the police had to come to help with a family conflict concerning Britneys two children. According to sources Spears did not want to cede her two sons (2 and 1 year old) to her ex-husband Kevin Federline. The judge had assigned the boys to the provisional protection of Federline. His bodyguard came to pick up the children at Britneys house according to the appointment. When the police force arrived, Spears was under the influence of narcotic substances. They had to carry Britney off wit an ambulance to the Los Angeles hospital. Also the two-year-old son, Jayden James, had to be transmitted to the hospital.
in the meantime the mother, Lynne Spears, suspects Britneys manager and friend Sam Lutfi of doping Britney. She has accused him in front of Court. Meanwhile he has a banning order to stay away from Britney.
It was an important day for Amy Winehouse yesterday, when the grammies were distributed. Her song 'rehab' appeared to be such a great success that she deserved at least five grammies!Amy herself couldn't be there because of a problem with her visum (or a problem with herself?). She won a grammy for best rookie, the best debut album, song of the year, best pop singer and Best song of the year. Winehouse was still in London and was following the show in a studio, when she heard she got the grammy for best song of the year she stared amazed and with her mouth wide open at the screen, then she kissed her mum and thanked everyone. She also said that those grammies were for her husband, her mother and father and Camden Town, which was burning down. Why she said that last thing? I have no idea! Well, our anorexic drug addict won five grammies, but how about her real life? Her mum is afraid that her daughter wouldn't be able to reach the end of this year and Little Amy keeps on drinking and taking drugs. And it appears that she is in rehab now, but for how long? Somehow I can foresee that Amy Winehouse will not last long if she keeps on boozing and I think that a girl named Britney Spears will do the same. Both of them or pathetic girls who have to much mony and spill it on bad stuff...and what's a rehab for them? Nothing more than just a dirty hotel!They go in ,and the next day, after breakfast, they're out! I hope Amy Winehouse will grow up fast and realise that she's wasting her life...but probably, while i'm writing this, she'll be drinking scotch with her five grammies in front of her.
