the diet
I never worried about my weight in the past, though the last few years I was gaining weight more than losing it and this was having a reaction from both knees, back and friendly comments... At 1m 88 and 100 kgs I was not in obesitas, but reaching the point. Therefor I contacted a dietician and went on a Protein diet. this was around 15 august (6 weeks ago)
The protein diet means that I won't be eating carbon hydrates for a while now, and will eat only vegetables and proteine shakes (they taste quit good) and will only drink water. This is fase 1 of the diet, which will be followed shortly (when I reach 88 kgs end of this week) by fase 2 in which I can also eat meat, fish and an egg once a day... still completed with vegetables and prodimed shakes.
I am feeling great and losing the weight has caused me to have less knee problems and ankle problems after sports activities...
I hope to keep it up and reach the 80 kgs point at around first of november.
may my papkes be without klonters for the remainder of that time... I can recommend the use of this diet, though only under supervision of a dietician.
As in every blogentry that I make, I would like to ask if you have any comment then please don't hesitate to make it.
Today does not mark the beginning of my path towards a triatlon, in fact a better beginning would have been a few weeks ago, when I made the decision to buy a new bike and start training with it. It was on that same day that I went on a diet to loose weight from 100 kgs towards 80 kgs, I am halfway today and should reach the 80 kilo mark around nov 1st.
But today is the first day I start writing a blog about triathlon, and this is off course a way to force myself to continue this path, make the dream happen and go for that triathlon. The blog will have other purposes as well, for I want to use it to get tips, help and response from others who are training for the same sports...
Over the last few weeks I've read a lot of other blogs and hope to mirror my own to those.
Intensity of training is important to triathlon and I will make it a common item in the following months, so that others who read this can follow steps in reaching goals of their own. Where am i now? Time is not yet my best friend, which I hope will change in the future: in a distant future I hope to take some time out to train in full for triathlon but for the time being I'm just a working dad of 2 who has to make and find time between parenting, shopkeeping and other sports to go running, swimming, biking. Nevertheless I try to do running 3 times a week, will bike to my shop 3 to 4 times a week and go swimming once a week...
This level of training will be called "the beginning" and I hope to be able to do more of each in the future. Intensity of training can be described as: entertaining, for I run at 10 km/hr at a maximum of 12 km laps, bike at 25 km/hr with 75 km tours (3 hrs) and swimming sessions of 1hr containing 2500 m swimming...
I will start a twitter and facebook account in the same name so please follow me or mark me as a friend and get regular updates on my progres. I hope to reach as many other triathletes as possible so spread the word... Thank you and keep training!
