So today the reviewing stuff is back after a week of nothing! Today's review is a submission i have got (if you want to submit your own music click on the submit button).
Today it's Jack Jeffery's album The Constant That Remains, if you want to listen to the music click here. Or you can buy the album at CD baby or you can just find it on iTunes! Some general information about the album and its maker. The album has been released on January 2th.
This album is a follow-up to his debut album "Passage To Agadir". "The Constant That Remains" blends progressive rock, alternative, psychedelic, world music and some classical influences. His influences are Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, Brian Eno, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, John Lennon, Jefferson Airplane and Peter Gabriel.
To start of with the first track "We Need It Back (The Modern Dream)"
The guitar is really clean and i enjoy listening to a track that is recorded clean. The track has some great energy in it, the vocals are strong too. It also feels like you're on a little musical journey and get kinda hypnotized, but then in a really good way. The song takes a 7 minute play, but it really is worth listening to it!
The song deserves a good 3,5 stars out of 5.
The second track is "Rearranged"
It's a calm song and you can hear every note he hits on the guitar, it's really clean and it's just a lot of fun listening to it. The song has something cosy and fun in it, and you get curious about the rest of the song. It's a really fun song to listen to also it makes you relaxed.
I give the song a great 4 out of 5 stars.
The thirth song is "A Plea To A Dreamer"
The song has some bass in it but it's minimalised and it's not overpowering also like the other songs this one will make you relaxed. Even the drumming isn't fast so you won't get all pumped up. The vocals are singing in a really cosy and calm way. Suddenly some sort of trumpet starts to play and still it stays in the same sphere as the whole song is. Everything blends together really well.
The song deserves a great 4 stars out of 5!
The Fourth song is "Gavotte For African Steel Guitar"
This is more an instrumental song, it's starts of calm and after a little minute the rhythm goes up a little but it doesn't bother me at all. Just cause it fits the song really good. This is a great instrumental song and probably some other (more beginning) artist would want to cover this cause it's good and sounds like it's fun playing. It's a good point for having just an instrumental song.
The song gets a 3,5 stars out of 5!
The Fifth song is "Fade Away"
The starts of a little the same of the previous song (or it makes me think like that). This is again a song with vocals. And again it's calm and relaxing. The song has a good energy in it. Again it's clean just sometimes i just doesn't fit in perfectly but still it's a good song. There's a point when the singing stops and some other instrument gets in and it makes me confused and curious about what it could be that is playing.
I give the song 3 stars out of 5.
Song number six is "The Sirius Wall"
The song makes me think i'm in some sort of forrest where people live. It makes your imagination play, and i like it. The song is fun to listen to and different then the other tracks on the album. It's really fun that this song makes you imagine that you're not any longer on planet earth but in some other dimension.
I give this song a good 3,5 stars out of 5!
The seventh song is "Everything Changes"
The song is back like the other song, but still has it own unique touch. Again a calm song and it's like this album is meant to just relax and sit back. I like the song and it's one of the better ones on the album i think. The song has it's own power and energy it's really fun listening to it. And all the instruments blend together really good, just perfectly.
I give the song a great 3,5 stars out of 5!
Number eight is "Valencian Cosmos"
This song makes you feel like you're in space, and again you're imagination starts to play. Also it reminds me a little of another famous guitarist, but i can't seem to find it's name. (The little guitar part in the beginning reminds me of it) But the song is again unique and it has a great energy in it. Everything is in harmony with each other. This will probably be the most interesting song on the whole album, i really like it!
I give the song a 4,5 stars out of 5!
Number nine is "Ascendancy"
The song starts of with drumming and really soon a second instruments catches in. It's a real fun song to listen to and maybe it should be higher on the album (like number 2 or 3 or something like that). It's fun to listen to and one of the better songs on the album.
I give it a great 4 out of 5 stars.
And last but not least number ten is "Carry On"
The last song starts of great like the others, it's also a fun song to listen to. And it's unique like the others, which makes the album unique on it's own. The song has great power and energy and is worth every cent. It's a good and again calm, relaxing song.
I give the song a great 3,5 stars out of 5!
I rate the album a great 3,5 stars out of 5!
Shortly: If you like Pink Floyd (and the other influences) you are really gonna love this album and you should defiantly check it and if you have the money you should buy the album! His music has an unique sound, and that's defiantly a plus, having an unique sound can be used as the image of a band. With this album you have a 50 minute of musical journey in your ears and mind. It's a lot of fun listening to his music. Even though i think the better songs are towards the end of the album over all it's a great album and it's defiantly worth buying!
If he keeps up the good work he will get the rewards for his music, since it's a bit different then the most music he has an unique thing, which i think is always good for a band. There should be something unique about a band. 'Cause the unique things you remember.
The music makes you relaxed and after a stressy day at work this will be the ideal CD to listen to just so you could relax. This music is really good in places where you should be more relaxed instead of all stressy. So if you want a relaxing moment go buy the CD and start relaxing right away.
The whole album has some sort of atmosphere in it and it's a really good one, you just want to sit back and relax and not think about anything. It's the ideal album to relax and do nothing.
