Yesterday was a busy "PUPPY" day. I got new picures of Kjeld and Phil finally got his camera, so now we will be able to see what Roux looks like in Philadelphia and then I skyped with Katrin last night and I saw Kaya through the webcam. So lots of fun.
Katrin and Kaya had a retriever training last weekend with english trainer Sally Sanford. Enclosed is a collage of some action pictures. It looks like she is really enjoying herself!!!
Since the big golden retriever national show was held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA this year and it fell together with my annual visit there, we decided to visit it this year. The field part was held at a 2 hour drive outside of Atlanta and the obedience, agility and show was held at the Olympic Horse park in Madison, which was worth the visit by itself. What a beautiful location and huge!!! I met with Kelsey's breeder there and saw her sister Chili, who 's birthday it was that sunday also ofcourse and they both turned 12 and Chili looked great!! The field location was also beautiful , a private estate, with all sorts of land and very nice water (Jealous!!!) We took Kilt with us and saw lots of dogs of Sunday and then stayed at a hotel and he behaved perfect. He slept next to us on his bed and then the next day he went to the field trials with us and heard the guns, saw ducks and pheasants fly, dogs run and he thought it was just great and he was very relaxed. So lots of excitement for the Kilt. I also went to a training of some friends and took him with me and , again he saw wingers shoot the ducks, ATV's drive to put out the blinds and marks and then he decided he wanted to retrieve something also, so we let him get some ducks and he enjoyed that very much. For being the smallest puppy in the litter , he is a big dog, with a curly coat and looking good. Can't wait to see the males that live in Holland!!!
Ok, so after I put Kjeld on with the "stealing"story, Mid tells me Kilt is doing the same stuff and she took pictures while I was on the phone with her. And it seems they act alike but also look alike. Frenny , after seeing the picture of Kilt , said it was like looking at her Kjeld!!!Well they looked exactly alike in the nest ,except for Kilt, who had one whiter back paw. A picture of Kilt with a plastic flowerpot he picked up and proceded to eat and a lid that he took from the kitchen counter. (BAD< BAD!!!)
I received an update on Kjeld, who is also testing all and very sneaky taking the owners breakfast off the counter and taking it to his place and proceding to eat it, which is not so bad as far as his health is concerned, BUT then he almost ate a whole tube of skin cream, from which the contents did not hurt him this time, but the sharp edges of the tube got everyone a little worried for damage to his intestines, but the vet thought he would be ok, but it is not really healthy!!!! So be alert at this age and remember they are still puppies and don't know any better yet. But all is well with Kjeld and growing and playing with his buddy Faust.
We received some new pictures of Fitch. All is going well and he is behaving like a 6 month old puppy, testing everyone, playing with the neighbours dog and growing into his body!!Now the time is here to be very consequent and give the right signals and commands to him, so he knows what is expected.
Kilt and Dutch are playing nurse for Mid ,who had to undergo knee surgery!! And of course like every puppy I know, Kilt also loves to retrieve crocs!!!! What is it with those shoes?? the material or the fact that they are so nice and light!!!
With the warm weather finally in Austria, it was time for Kaya to learn to swim. Well obviously that did not take long. She just swam to the yellow toy as if she had never done anything else and retrieved it So that was that, for a quick learning experience! And she and Morris had fun in the water!
I got some new pictures of the female orange of the north of Holland. All sounds like it is going well and they are training for their Diploma C, which is something you start with in Holland and is needed to compete. Good Luck Rones!!!
Yesterday I went to Holland to deliver the pedigrees to Kjeld and Fitch. Unfortunately Fitch and Family were still on vacation, but Kjeld was home and greeted me outside laying on his back, happy to see me. He is getting curls and growing up to be a nice boy.He is living with Faust, his 12 years old golden Buddy and 2 bunnies and he just lets them walk loose in the yard and he thinks that is just fine!!!! Pictures to show him!!
After I left Kjeld, Frenny and Annouk went to take him swimming, since the weather was finally nice. Well, as you can see on the pictures , he learned fast and seemed to enjoy it very much. Next the surf board Kjeld !!!!
I received an email from Katrin, who did a Heli & mountain weekend and a Searching in Wreckage training with 5 month old Kaya and wanted to share that with you al'l. Below is part of Katrin's email to me about the training and the pictures speak for itself, enjoy!!!
The way down from the mountain was really heavy - for me
more then for her we walked about 8 hours, Kaya was sitting in the backpack
for a while, then walking again, again a break in the backpack - she was doing
good. I think she is related with a goat! Nothing can fear her - there were
sections with deep gaps and it was going cliffy downhill - some of the mature
dogs and also the other puppy went whining from time to time because they were
afraid to go down the cliffs, Kaya was waging with her tail and going down for
herself - it was awesome - wish that you could have seen that! Unfortunately we
have no pictures of the walk down, the weather was terrible, 4 degrees, fog and
raining, I had no time to take pictures, it was more important to look at the
dogs and ourselves.
If all went well, Gina, Rones & Phil received their pedigree by registered mail. Frenny and Pauline, I will personally deliver yours, as it will be a good excuse to come see you and puppers again, but not for a few weeks as I had handsurgery and am not allowed to drive. Mid, I will deliver yours also, as I think it is a good excuse for a trip across the water!!! I hear from all and it seems all are losing teeth and looking like" Pluto", big ears, long tails and long legs, but all doing well!! I have some new pictures from Kilt to add.
I am working on a blog for my dogs, which will have news about them and also future breedings. www.bloggen.be/workinggoldens
I also found a picture of Clyde as a puppy and grown-up, so that will be fun to see for you, but they are small. Send pictures please.
