Some new general pictures. This weekend they are going into the living area, where they will be exposed to the normal household noises, and dogs, people, kids etc.
They have have their first taste of some porridge to learn to lick instead of suck!!
Pups are two weeks today!! Mom & pups are dewormed today, nails clipped again & tails trimmed!!!!!
Eyes are open & they can run pretty fast through the whelping box!!
I did give them an extra bottle ,so Gibbs could have a break, she seemed tired & they took it eagerly!!
3 more days of the neuroligcal stimulation program & then in a few days they will go into the living room and will get their stimulation from all the normal household noises & visiting people and also the other dogs!!
At the end of next week already a couple of meals of solid food & hopefully summer will return so we can spend some time outside!!!
While doing the stimulation program I decided to make some headshots from puppers. Not a perfect background, but I was glad I could get some done while holding them.!!!
Already almost a week old!! All is going way too fast.
Their nails were too long, so cut 6 x 18 little nails on wiggly pups, but all went well and they are doing good with the stimulation program, some protest, when i hold them with their head down for 3 seconds, but that is ok!!
made some pictures of Ms Orange who went into hiding and the rest of them also
A poster of Child towards Dog behaviour and visa versa!!!
Some more laying down pictures of today, but they did get their collars put on and all fit good, actually I had to make them a little larger
There is not much change in picture taking yet, but putting them on any way!!
Purple is now a bright blue collar & for the rest they are the same!!
They gained their weight again today, so that is very good!!
I also started their neurological stimulation program, what that means , you can scroll down and read about it. It would not let me put the pictures on, but if you google it, it will explain & show you. I will do this for 14 days & by then they have their eyes and ears open and can begin with other stimulation from the outside world.
Puppies are doing great all have gained weight since birth and are moving around a lot!!!! Unfortunatly I cannot put videos on the blog, but I am on Facebook under my name, so maybe you can look me up!!!
Well the main object is set up, the whelping box,the lamp will go up and all the other needed things are also set up, so now we relax , get some pre-sleep & hope for a speedy daytime birth of a bunch of puppies.
Some nice pictures of an open class win of Clockburn Clyde!!!!
Ok today we went to my vet for a last check up etc.
He did an fun ultrasound for me to show the heartbeats ect.
Well it was even hard to make a picture as they were moving around all the time!!!
Well that is why they are "working dogs"
Where the arrow is that is the heart beating and if you really look close, you can see the 4 chambers.
He thought she looked good & he will see us or we will see him next week!!
The cold wet tea towel is still doing it's job!!
A picture of owner Jonas with Clyde after getting first place at the open WT in France & one with his dad, who has a son of Clyde & he also won, but the beginners!!!
Early neurological stimulation program & pregnancy calendar
This is what I do with the pups from day 3 -day 17. I have done this with all my litters and find it great for them instead of laying there for two weeks, not hearing and not seeing anything. for more info on the thoughts behind this google this and read all about it.
Neurological Stimulation Program Details The five exercises are as follows. The duration of each of the five exercises is 3-5 seconds.
1. Tactical stimulation (between toes)
Holding the pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates (tickles) the pup between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip. It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle.
Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds
2. Head held erect
Using both hands, the pup is held perpendicular to the ground, (straight up), so that its head is directly above its tail. This is in an upwards position.
Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds
3. Head pointed down
Holding the pup firmly with both hands the head is reversed and is pointed downward so that it is pointing towards the ground.
Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds
4. Supine position
Hold the pup so that its back is resting in the palm of both hands with its muzzle facing the ceiling. The pup while on its back is allowed to sleep struggle.
Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds
5. Thermal stimulation
Use a damp towel that has been cooled in a refrigerator for at least five minutes. Place the pup on the towel, feet down. Do not restrain it from moving.
Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds
These five exercises will produce neurological stimulations, none of which naturally occur during this early period of life. Experience shows that sometimes pups will resist these exercises, others will appear unconcerned. In either case a caution is offered to those who plan to use them. Do not repeat them more than once per day and do not extend the time beyond that recommended for each exercise. Over stimulation of the neurological system can have adverse and detrimental results. These exercises impact the neurological system by kicking it into action earlier than would be normally expected. The result being an increased capacity that later will help to make the difference in its performance. Those who play with their pups and routinely handle them should continue to do so because the neurological exercises are not substitutions for routine handling, play socialization or bonding
Pregnancy Calendar for Dogs

Sire:
Ft.Ch. Clockburn Clyde
Dam:
Whispering Oaks Golden Paws
Breeder:
Boukje Eekma
Fri 30 May 114
First day of mating.
48 hours after the first mating the bitch should be mated again. Subsequent matings occurring over a period of time enhance the chances of fertilaziton taking place.
The spermatozoa migrate up through the cervix.
Sat 31 May 114
Sperm travel searching for a mature ripened eggs.
Sat 31 May 114 - Sun 1 Jun 114
Spermatozoa reach the eggs in the oviducts.
Sun 1 Jun 114 - Mon 2 Jun 114
Fertilisation occurs in the oviducts which lead from the ovaries to the uterus.
Mon 2 Jun 114 - Wed 4 Jun 114
Fertilised eggs migrate down the oviducts and into the uterine horns.
The migration continue to enable even spacing of the embryos.
During this migration the eggs will grow into a blastocystes.
Tue 10 Jun 114 - Thu 12 Jun 114
The blastocystes implant in the wall of the uterus.
Tue 10 Jun 114 - Tue 24 Jun 114
The blastocystes will grow into an embryos.
During the next two weeks the important organs will develop.
Fri 13 Jun 114 - Fri 20 Jun 114
Dams nipples begin to pink enlarge.
The fur on the dams belly and around the nipples may become thinner.
Thu 19 Jun 114 - Thu 26 Jun 114
Morning sickness might occur due to hormonal changes or stretching and distension of the uterus. Dam may appear a bit apathetic. She may be off her feed for a while and vomit from time to time.
Feeding the dam several meals spaced throughout the day might help.
Your veterinarian may want to prescribe a drug to relax the uterus.
Tue 24 Jun 114 - Sat 28 Jun 114
An experienced person (a breeder or a veterinarian) can tell by careful palpation whether the dam is pregnant.
It's now the best time to do this because the embryos are walnut-sized now and easy to count.
Fri 27 Jun 114
Start to increase the dams food ration.
Don't overfeed, excessive weight gain should be avoided.
The foetuses are now and are fully developed miniature dogs.
Thu 3 Jul 114
The Dams abdomen starts to get larger.
Sun 13 Jul 114
It's very easy now to feel the puppies, counting them might be a bit more difficult.
Nipples and vulva should be gently cleaned with warm water, you might want to trim the hairs surrounding the nipples, to allow easier access for the puppies to suck.
Expected date of whelp. Of course this is just an average. Whelping may take place from the 59th to the 65th day. Puppies born before the 58th day will probably be too young to survive.
Pups expected around August 2nd 2014 & then they go home 7 weeks later, which is around september 20th 2014!!
They come with the official FCI pedigree, chipped with pet passport, which they need to cross any border and includes all their information, like vaccinations, health checks, chip sticker nr.
They will be dewormed at 2.4 & 6 weeks. Have their DNA taken and their 6 week puppy vaccination and complete health check given.
They get a Eukanuba puppy pack and a stuffed nest scent golden.
These are goldens with a "GO"!!! They are bred to have a job, be it huntingtests, field trails, agility, search & rescue, obedience or any dog sport.
