I have a horse. And a horse is not just an animal. But people who don't own a horse can't know what it feels like to actually have one and to ride one.
It's very special, but it is hard to explain. It's something only "horselovers" can understand. This seems mealy, I know, but I can't find the right words to write down my feelings when I ride. I forget all my worries, and just focus and be in balance with my horse. And then I feel alive.
It's not that everyone can hear the silent language between a horse and his rider, not everyone can trust their life with a 1200 lb animal, and not everyone has the guts, blood, sweat, tears, and dedication needed to be a part of this world. But equestrians are no ordinary people and horses are no ordinary animals. The only ones who truly understand this world are the ones who are a part of it.
I am proud to say that I am one of those people. I have my horse already three and a half years, and he's almost seven years old.
I've learned him everything and because he has already learned this much, I can join competions.
I ride dressage. That is a competitive equestrian sport, defined by the International Equestrian Federation as "the highest expression of horse training", where horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. It's really beautiful to watch..
But I think I'm going to change, I'm going to jump and buy another horse, because mine is made for dressage.
I'm proud of what I've reached so far and I'm proud having controll over my horse! I ride now for over then years, and I'm still happy with what I do. I'm proud to be a horserider.
