Excellent interviews — this is all fantastic coverage! It’s soo good to see the intelligence and love shown by the Tokio Hotel fans. Next up — I want to hear from some male fans of TH! They exist, they’re just sort of . . . stealthy. Anyway good job, thanks so much MTV! You the best!

Aw, thanks, Kat. We asked if we could change our name to MT(H)V, but the powers that be said it wouldn’t be fair to the rest of the bands. Plus it does sort of sound like a growth hormone. Anyway, meet 18-year-old Tokio Hotel fan Timothy, who was man enough to share his respect and admiration for Bill and the boys.

Buzzworthy: What do you love about Tokio Hotel?

Timothy: I really love their lyrics and just, like, their music in general. It just identifies with me in a lot of ways. I’ve been a big fan since the beginning.

BW: Any lyrics in particular that get you?

Timothy: “Don’t Jump.” The lyrics from that song talk about suicide. It’s a common thing for teens to deal with.

BW: How’d you first hear about Tokio Hotel?

Timothy: I was watching IMF, which was an old music station that showed music from all over the world. I saw the video, and I became obsessed.

BW: Do you have a favorite member of the band?

Timothy: Bill Kaulitz, definitely, hands down.

BW: If I could get you alone in a room with him, what you say to him?

Timothy: I would probably faint, to be honest. But… I don’t know…

BW: Once you came to, would you have anything to say, or would you be too freaked out?

Timothy: Probably something along the lines of like, you’re like the biggest hero I could ever have. And like, please, you know, keep me in mind wherever you go. And I’m always gonna be like, looking toward and up to you, and you’re a good person, and that kind of thing.

BW: How’d you get here today?

Timothy: By a long bus ride from central Pennsylvania.

BW: Worth the trip so far?

Timothy: Yes! I got my little wristband, I’m gonna go and get my CD signed and probably freak out later, but yes, it’s good!

Es gibt viele Parallelen zwischen dem „King Of Pop“ und Bill Kaulitz (18) von Tokio Hotel: großer Erfolg in jungen Jahren, ein ausgefallenes Styling, die lange schwarze Mähne, Schminke…

Michael Jackson (49) bekam mit elf Jahren seinen ersten Plattenvertrag, feierte mit seinen Brüdern als „Jackson 5“ Wahnsinns-Erfolge auf der ganzen Welt. Bill machte als 13-Jähriger 2003 bei der Talent-Show „Star Search“ mit, bekam seinen ersten Plattenvertrag zusammen mit seinem Zwillingsbruder Tom sowie den Bandmitgliedern Gustav und Georg noch im selben Jahr. Seit 2005 ist der Tokio-Hotel-Wahn in Deutschland und Europa nicht mehr zu stoppen.

Jackson legte sich unzählige Male unters Messer, bleichte seine Haut, veränderte seine Nase, schminkt sich viel, trägt die Haare tiefschwarz und lang. Auch Bill greift zu Make-up, hat immer geschminkte Augen, seine schwarzen Haare trägt er in letzter Zeit eher als lange Mähne statt steil nach oben.

Der Erfolg in den USA gibt Bill jedenfalls recht – seit ein paar Wochen touren Tokio Hotel erfolgreich durch die USA.

13th of May 2008 Frank Briegmann is used to experiencing the biggest music stars in the world. And yet, there still are very special performances for the German boss of the Universal Music Group. The Magdeburger teen band Tokio Hotel, the best horse in the stable of Universal Germany, has come to New York to introduce their first English language record. Briegmann doesn’t really see himself as the type of boss that interferes in every little thing of his artists. But for Tokio Hotel, he traveled with to New York. For he believes that Tokio Hotel has a real chance of commercial success in the world music market. And if it would come that way, then it would be a rare piece of art: “There are German athletes or models these days that are famous in America, but hardly any musicians. It would be something very special if Tokio Hotel it would make it.”

In fact, America is a notoriously difficult market for foreigners. This does not apply only for Germans, but also for artists from English speaking countries. Even the British superstar Robbie Williams is almost completely ignored in America. The Australian Kylie Minogue didn’t even make it in the top 100 of the American Billboard charts with her latest album “X”. Germans have it even harder: Only Nena landed a hit in the US in 1983 with her “99 Red balloons”. Even today you can ask the Americans what German musicians they know, and the answer is almost always “Nena”. After her, the Scorpions managed to land a top 10 hit with the song “Wind of Change”, and the band Rammstein managed to get a decent result, but that’s where it ends with the German artists.




Top class TV appearances secured

Tokio Hotel are already an export hit, which is a bit puzzling. The band managed their breakthrough in Germany in 2005 with the song “Durch den Monsun” and has since become a teenage phenomenon to a hysterical fans base. Soon the band didn’t just have supporters in German speaking countries like Poland and France, even with the fact their music wasn’t even publicized yet. Briegmann was sharp-eared: He introduced the band to his Universal colleagues from other countries and brought them to arrange the first performances and to design the marketing machine. In France it went beat to beat: First a mini show in front of 600 fanatical fans, then the support from radio stations, chart success for the CD and a concert in front of 500.00 people in front of the Eifel tower with other stars.

Tokio Hotel made the first jump into America in February already with little concerts in small halls: The shows were sold out, and the concert in New York was printed in the “New York Times”, a lavish illustrated story on the first page on their featured pages . Now Tokio Hotel are back in New York, because they want to get into the charts with their just recently released “Scream” album. Universal boss Briegmann looks satisfied at the first evidence on the hit list of the online Music company iTunes from Apple: “Yesterday the album was on place 13, today we are on 24.” Even the business of the CDs in the stores went well. “After the first prognoses, we will be climbing in the Top 50 of Billboard charts.” 15,000 to 20,000 sold CDs would probably be needed, estimates Briegmann . He hopes that it will once be a total of 500,000 exemplars.




Sales so far are between 30 million to 40 million Euros

There is no shortage of hysteria in New York. Tokio Hotel have secured themselves top class TV appearances. They were on the music channel MTV on Times Square and were welcomed by screeching girls. MTV covered its glass facade of an entire floor with Tokio Hotel posters. The day after they were on the TV station NBC on the Late Night show with Conan O’Brien

Tokio Hotel have sold 3 million albums and 2 1/2 million singles around the world till now. That would make a profit of 30 to 40 million Euros if you calculate it from the usual selling prices. Around a third of that value still comes from the selling of fan items as well. The band is for Universal a handsome economic factor, even though the figures are still modest compared to the total value of the company’s profit of 4.9 billion Euros.




On the way to a global brand

But when it comes to Briegmann, Tokio Hotel are only at the beginning of the road to become a global brand: This year, America and Europe are still in the foreground, and for the coming year Briegmann wants to take Asia and South America next. Briegmann sees Tokio Hotel as one of the few that has chances to base German artists internationally. Hard to export would be groups like Rosenstoltz that celebrate their success as the second most important German band after Tokio Hotel for Universal.

The guys of Tokio Hotel are used to the success and screaming girls, but the response in America was obviously something quite different: “To see this huge poster of us on Times Square was simply overwhelming”, says front man Bill Kaulitz. And his twin brother Tom tells that after the article in the “New York Times”, they bought all the newspapers from the whole airport back then.




Teen bands traditionally don’t last very long

For Briegmann, the success of Tokio Hotel is a ray of hope in a difficult market. The entire music industry has been in a crisis for the past couple of years: The business with the sale of CD’s is continuing to shrink, and growth rates for online platforms such as iTunes can’t even be nearly compared. Briegmann admits that the industry must change. The deal with physical records will continue to shrink, so the income has to come from other sources. Universal has become partners with internet sites like Myspace and Youtube and cooperates with the mobile phone producers Nokia in the sales of music on mobile phones. In addition, Briegmann will increase the “adjacent areas” next to the selling of music, such as merchandise or live concerts. Briegmann doesn’t want to be part of the end of the world mood in the industry: “I’m sure that you can still earn money with the music business even in ten years.”

Whether Tokio Hotel still exists is an entirely different question. Teen bands traditionally don’t last very long. The four band members are now between 18 and 21 years old and are aimed at a very young fan base. Whether the popularity will still hold the more the boys grow seems questionable. Universal boss is Briegmann optimistic: “The boys can be just as successful if they are 30.” Band member Gustav Schäfer is thinking over a longer period of time: “We’ll be doing this till we’re a hundred years old.”

Miserable sales for Tokio Hotel

Tokio hotel is about to conquer the U.S. - and the land of unlimited possibilities kisses their feet. You can read this everywhere. But far from it: hardly anyone wants to buy CD's from Kaulitz & Co.

What to do if the German market is conquered? Of course: conquer America. Tokio hotel is on their U.S. tour. And this with "incredible success", their PR strategists behind Kaulitz & Co. ceaselessly are reporting in Germany. New York, Los Angeles, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers have to be aware. Here comes Tokio hotel!

Or? In reality, the facts are darker than the eyeliner Bill Kaulitz uses: the current Billboard charts speak only about 16,000 CDs. Despite an elaborate PR strategy they are far away from unknown artists like Rick Ross and Michael Bubble. The management's target one million CDs are miles away.

"America is so great"
Time for a reality check: You can't get success in the U.S. over night. This is sth. also stars like Miley Cyrus or Rihanna are knowing. And somehow also Bill K. suspected this will be hard: "It is very difficult to win over new fans in other countries," he says with a heavy German accent in English. "America is so big it is very difficult to become famous ."

German stamina
The boys still have an important German attribute that is necessary over there: stamina. A concert at a parking place in New Jersey? Let's do it! Appearance in the (now rather unimportant) "Avalon" in Los Angeles? Sure! 1500 fans would fit in there - not more than about 900 people were probably there. That is still far away from the success of a Miley Cyrus, who solds out a 10.000 concert hall within 10 minutes.

Indeed, German bands - also actors - traditionally have a difficult status in the United States. Nena and Rammstein are still the only German singing exports, who are accepted in the US fanbase. German actor Til Schweiger and also Franka Potente fail miserably in Hollywood and left the states.

There's nothing wrong about TH (or rather their management) trying to conquer the lucrative states. But it is also a daring maneuver. America is the largest music market in the world. In LA there are playing every day world-famous bands in good locations. They come and go. Often almost unnoticed. A band like Tokio hotel could quickly enter nomansland before they could start at all. And then their "Scream" - the English title of the current album - will literally stick in their craw ...

Dat is dan toch een dompertje op het geluk van Tokio Hotel. Nuja, als ze in Amerika "floppen", ze hebben hier in Europa nog altijd hun trouwe fans. Al geloof ik dat ik niet meer kan zeggen : miljoenen fans. Want de hype komt stilletjes aan hier ook aan zijn einde. Tegenover juli vorig jaar las je overal !Tokio Hotel! en ik kan je nu zeggen, dat is al met de helft vermindert ...

Maar blijkbaar heeft Tokio Hotel eens een schenking gedaan aan "Een hart voor kinderen".
Nu laten ze opnieuw hun hart zien :

Tokio Hotel geeft geld aan kinderen!

De teenieband Tokio Hotel ondersteunt de muzikale ontwikkeling van sociaal achtergestelde kinderen uit Leipzig. De stichting "Bürger für Leipzig" deelde afgelopen donderdag mee dat de band maarliefst 20.000 euro heeft uigetrokken voor het goede doel. Naar het schijnt zal dit jaar en volgend jaar in totaal 8.000 euro in het projekt "Musik macht schlau"(Muziek maakt slim) worden gestoken. Dankzij de donatie kunnen minstens twintig kinderen een jaar lang een instrument leren spelen.

De overige 12.000 euro wordt als deposit-tegoed op de rekening van de Leipzigse stichting gezet. Mede hierdoor zijn Bill, Tom, Georg en Gustav mede-oprichters geworden.

Tokio Hotel groter dan Rammstein

Eigenlijk is het succes dat onze hotste muziek-exportartikel in Amerika ontvangt toch wel opmerkelijk te noemen.

Het succesverhaal van de Kaulitzen kan worden gelezen als de inleiding van een leerboek. Eerst speelt men enkele kleine concerten in kleine podia als het Fillmore in New York waar Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin en Frank Zappa nog hebben opgetreden. En dan beland je in februari met de opgeschmuckte geschiedenis van de band op de eerste bladzijde van de New York Times.

Daarna treed je op 6 mei bij de Amerikaanse muziekzender MTV op ter promotie van het Engelse album "Scream". Dit hoort natuurlijk dan te resulteren in een gigantische toestroom van krijsende fans op Times Square. En als derde actie geeft men een mini-concertje bij een zeer belangrijke Late Night Show.

Tokio Hotel lukte dat afgelopen zaterdagnacht bij Conan O'Brien - de man die ervoor moet zorgen dat de jonge Amerikanen hun dagelijkse humorshotje binnenkrijgen. De band performde daar hun superhit "Ready, Set, Go!" en nu ligt eindelijk de weg voor succes voor hen open!

Niet eenmaal ontpopt de spraakbarrière zich als een echte hindernis, en dat terwijl Bill niet bepaald in de wieg is gelegd om Engels te spreken. "Om zijn Engelse gezang te kunnen verdragen, moet men echt verdomd goed tegen pijn kunnen!" zo grapte broer Tom eens. De Rolling Stone was ietsje milder: "Bill's Engelse uitspraak maakt de muziek nog charmanter dan die als is!"

Al met hun eerste optreden op tv schreven de boys (Duitse) geschiedenis. De Amerikaanse muziekmarkt is voor buitenlanders namelijk moeilijk te bereiken, zelfs de Brit Robbie Williams wordt in Amerika compleet genegeerd. Hetzelfde geldt voor de Australische Kylie Minogue, die met haar meest recent uitgebrachte album het niet eens tot de Top 100 wist te brengen.

Duitsland's trots Nena wist van "99 Luftballons" een hit te maken. De Scorpions zeilden met "Wind of Change" de top 10 in en ook Rammstein wist enige succesjes te boeken. Toch heeft nog enkele Duitser echt kunnen doorbreken.

Behalve Tokio Hotel...? Universal-baas Briegmann zegt tegen FAZ: "Als we alles bij elkaar optellen, dan is het mogelijk dat we in Top 50 van de Billboard-Charts  staan." En als Amerika eenmaal is veroverd, dan zal het nog veel verder gaan gaan met de boys. Al volgend jaar wil Briegman zich over Azië en Zuid-Amerika ontfermen...

Yesterday we introduced you to Tokio Hotel fans Monica and Katarina, and before that, you met Josselen and the fearless Amada.

Now, Buzzworthy is happy to introduce you to 17-year-old Charlean. She didn’t have a ticket to TRL to see Tokio Hotel was perform that day, but she came down from Queens to show TH some “liebe” and demonstrate her understanding of German. Which was far better than ours.

Buzzworthy: What do you love about Tokio Hotel?

Charlean: Well first off, their music is really good, especially the German versions. I like those better than the English ones. They inspired me to learn German. They’re just so cool. Plus it doesn’t hurt that they’re hot. All four of them are hot.

BW: Do you have a favorite band member?

Charlean: No. All four of them are really hot!

BW: If I could get you alone time with the band, what would you say?

Charlean: Wir lieben dich, Tokio Hotel!

BW: What’s that mean?

Charlean: It means we love you!

BW: How’d you first hear about Tokio Hotel?

Charlean: I actually saw them on Fuse. I saw like a second of the video, and then I went online, Googled them, and that’s how I became obsessed.

BW: The hotness brought you back?

Charlean: Truthfully, yeah. But then, like the music just took over that.

BW: What are you expecting up at TRL today?

Charlean: We don’t even have tickets to go inside, but we’re gonna stand outside and support them like hell.

BW: Brilliant! Thank you very much!

Bill, Tom, Gustav & Georg of TOKIO HOTEL were back in the MuchMusic building today, and so naturally, since it worked so well last time, I had to pull them aside for a couple of minutes to ask them a few of your fan questions. The guys were in good spirits and once again I was amazed at how relaxed, grounded and fun they were. Here's how it all went down with the German rockers...

First off, welcome back to Canada! You just performed at the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey. How was it?

Bill: It was really, really cool. It was the first time really performing after my surgery. We played three songs and there were a lot of fans and then after that we traveled to LA and in LA we had one concert and now we are here in Toronto.

So what do you prefer? Playing in festivals or your own concerts?

Bill: I prefer doing our own concerts.

Tom: Yeah, doing your own concerts are great. You have your own production team and your own crew and your own stage and stuff. It's great.

Bill: You know, festivals are always hard because there are so many bands and then it's just crazy backstage. Everyone is talking and there are so many people.

Georg: And you don't really get a sound check.

Tom: You always have sound problems in festivals, but I think at Bamboozle it was cool.

Bill: Yeah, it was good.

Did you get a chance to see any of the other bands perform?

Bill: Unfortunately, no. We had a really, really tight schedule.

Tom: Yeah, we had a lot of interviews to do and stuff like that and yeah, not much time.

What are some of your most embarrassing 'guilty pleasures'?

Tom: [laughs] I wouldn't admit to them. But Georg, he's a David Hasselhoff fan.

How "German" of you...

Georg: Oh, come on - not again. He's told this joke, like, 10 times now.

Tom: It's not a joke. It's the truth, but it's embarrassing.

Georg: [rolls eyes]

Bill: I love dogs, but that's not embarrassing. I just really love dogs. You know, if I see a dog I just go crazy.

Any kind in particular?

Bill: No, any dog. When I see a dog, it's like, "Oh my God, come here, come here!"

Tom: And Georg really likes to surf videos on YouPorn, and that's also embarassing. [Laughs] I'm joking.

Georg, is it true that you like Nickelback?

Georg: Yeah, I love Nickelback.

Tom: I really like the video for Rockstar because there's Kendra and, uh, from the Playboy Mansion - the three Bunnies. So that's a great video.

Are there any other Canadian bands that you know of and like?

Gustav: Is King's X from Canada?

No, don't think so.

Bill: Billy Talent are cool.

Nice. Hey Georg, does it bother you when people call you "George"?

Georg: Um, people can call me whatever they want - Georg or George.

Tom: Or you know, on his case where he stores his bass, he wrote "David Listing." [laughs] He likes the name David because of Hasselhoff. George Hasslehoff!

Georg: [groans]

So last time you were in Toronto, you went up the CN Tower and went shopping at the Eaton Centre and went a bit unnoticed. Do you like that? Was it refreshing not to be attacked by throngs of fans for once?

Bill: That's always the goal, to go into a city and at first no one recognizes you, but we really want people to see us and to have fans. And now it's really cool that we have Canadian fans and that we're playing a concert tomorrow night. So I think it's better when people recognize you. That's good for a band.

Tom: It's always the goal that people recognize you on the street.

Bill: But of course, sometimes when you have free time, it's nice when no one recognizes you and you can just chill.

Tom: But that's boring.

Well, your fanbase is growing in Canada and now people know you are here for the night - they'll be looking for you.

Bill: Yeah, I think there will be some fans at the hotel tonight, but our schedule is so tight so that we are doing a lot of photoshoots and interviews during the day, so we don't have as much time this time to go out and check out things in the city.

Well, is there anything about fame that you find annoying?

Bill: I hate paparazzi, I really hate paparazzi.

Tom: Especially when we're on holidays.

Bill: Yeah, especially on holidays, it's just terrible. I hate them in Europe. In America there are also paparazzi, but not as as bad as in Europe. It's very terrible, I hate it.

So are you constantly on edge when you're walking around? Do you always notice them? Are they hiding behind corners or in bushes...?

Tom: Well, yeah, it depends. Sometimes on holidays, they hide. But, you know, on the street they just attack us.

Bill: Yeah, you know, it's OK to, I dunno, when it's at a concert or whatever, but in free time or when you're in private, I think it's just annoying.

So we all know how you got your name, but how did you come up with your band's symbol/logo?

Tom: You know, the idea was that in this logo we had a lot of T's and a lot of H's. And, yeah, that's what it is - it wasn't meant to be a big deal.

Bill: We just wanted something that was very simple. And, like, everyone can draw it and that was the idea so you can paint it on walls --

Tom: -- or windows --

Bill: -- or my neck. [laughs]

Who designed it?

Bill: We did it together with a guy --

Tom: I think it was my idea.

[all groan]

Have you ever actually worn traditional German clothing like lederhosen for Oktoberfest?

Tom: No, never. Sometimes Georg does, when he's dancing to David Hasselhoff.

Bill: We've never even been to Oktoberfest so far.

Tom: No, I hate Oktoberfest.

Do you drink beer?

Tom: Yeah, we drink a lot of beer, but not at Oktoberfest.

Well, I read this study that states the average German drinks 120 liters of beer per year.

Tom: We drink that in one month.

[all laugh]

Bill: No, we drink a lot of beer, but in America it's really hard because you have to be 21 to drink alcohol.

Tom: But not in Canada, right?

No, here in Ontario it's 19.

Tom: 19?

Gustav: [throws hands up into the air] YES!

[all laugh]

But in Montreal, it's 18.

Georg: We LOVE Montreal!

Bill: It's hard, because in Germany you have to be 18 and we were always, like, "Oh, c'mon - 18, 18, 18..." and now we are 18 and we come to America.

Tom: And you have to be 21.

Do you have any favourite kinds of beer?

Bill: Um, Heineken. Heineken is a nice beer.

Tom: I don't care.

Georg: I prefer German beer.

Gustav: I like the Czech Budweiser.

Nice, I'll have to try it. Enough about beer - back to the music. Do you have any plans to do any future collaborations with any other bands?

Tom: There's nothing planned yet, but we would love to do some collaborations.

Is there anyone in particular you'd love to work with?

Bill: Yeah, I dunno - I think there are some dreams for every band to do something with, like, the Rolling Stones or whatever, but I think, yeah, let's see.

Tom: In the summer we go back into the studio to record some songs, and I say, let's see what happens.

Bill: And then we can talk to other people, but I'm not sure, I don't have anyone in mind yet.

David Hasselhoff?

Tom: Yeah, David Hasselhoff! That would be great for Georg. Maybe a dancing project with Georg and David Hasselhoff. [laughs]

Speaking of dancing, a fan wanted to know if you, Tom, knew the Soulja Boy dance.

Tom: Yeah, I know the Soulja Boy dance, but I'm not a good dancer. No, Georg can do it, he's a very good dancer.

Can we video you doing it and put it up on YouTube?

Tom: Yeah, Georg can. He was doing the dance in the hotel room [laughs]. Yeah, Georg can do it. [laughs] No, I'm not a dancer. I'm a shy guy.

Georg: Oh, c'mon. You showed it to me this morning!

Tom: No, that was you!

Bill: I don't know this dance.

Tom: I've seen the video and the personal videos that people have uploaded to YouTube who do the dance, but you know, I'm not a dancer - I'm more a sexy guitar player [laughs].

Tomorrow night at the concert, we want to see the dance.

Tom: Yeah, maybe at the show. Together with David Hasselhoff and Georg.

Bon, het is al geweldig om te starten

Ik wil meteen iets zeggen op het bericht in mijn shoutbox,
daar staat : Sorry hoor deze site lijkt heel erg opeen nl weblog kopieer je alles ofzo Handig he

Wel, om even commentaar te geven: zoals ik laat blijken in mijn blogs heb ik verschillende sites waarvan ik mijn nieuws haal. De ene is al wat meer up to date als de andere. Dus de nieuwtjes die ik hier geef zijn voor mensen die andere sites afgaan al soms gekend. Het ding is, als ik verschillende informatie krijg van verschillende sites dan "meng" ik die, maar als maar één of twee sites up to date zijn, dan heb ik maar nieuws van die sites ... Ik kopieër niet zomaar klakkeloos! Zelf ben ik soms uren bezig om alle informatie te schikken zoals ik het wil! En als ik interessante foto's tegenkom dan zet ik die natuurlijk ook hier op de blog! Vergeet ook niet dat ik altijd bronnen weergeef en mensen die het vertaald hebben! En bepaalde zaken vind je terug op verscheidene sites ... Je moet het ook maar eens nakijken: soms staat het "nieuwtje" eerder op mijn blog dan op andere! Dus ik vind het een hele belediging dat ik alles zo maar kopieer!

After 16 cancelled concerts all over the Europe, because of vocal cord problems frontman Bill Kaulitz had, and more than a month of brake, Tokio Hotel, the greatest German stars in the last 20 years, came back to the scene. It happened in the USA where their first album for North America was put on sale on May 6th.

Kids from the rock band Tokio Hotel, whose oldest band member is 21, have already conquered Europe and now they are also planning to conquer "the land of possibilities", where are thousand teenage girls, but also older members of the female gender already fainting for every move they make.

Singer Bill Kaulitz, his twin brother Tom who plays guitar, bassist Georg Listing and drummer Gustav Schäfer have appeared for the first time on American TV on Wednesday, May 7th in a Mtv show TRL. And the hysteria their performance caused is best described with a comment on website buzzworthy.mtv.com (where you can also listen how do the boys sound live): "Where they were met with more hysteria than Elvis and John Lennon, had they both risen from the dead and played a spontaneous acoustic set with Jesus"

As pretty singer of Tokio Hotel stayed without a voice in the middle of the concert in Marseille on March 14th, numerous fans all over the world have, with fear, received the news that he has to go under the vocal cords surgery because he got a cyst discovered, that arised because of stress and not enough trained voice. The cyst was removed successfully, but Bill wasn't allowed to say a word for ten day after the surgery. But as soon as he came back to normal, the boys decided to catch up with all cancelled concerts, so we are going to see tokios on the festivals all over the Europe during June and July, after they do four performances in the USA and Canada.

Los Angeles – Germany’s most successful rock band Tokio Hotel are still on promotion tour through the USA, promoting their english language Album “Scream”. On the weekend, after performing in a TV show in New York they flew to Los Angeles, where they will give a concert tonight. BILD talked to the twins Bill(18) and Tom(18) Kaulitz about their success in America.

BILD: You’ve just arrived to Los Angeles. What is the difference for you between LA and New York?

Bill: For me these are two entirely different worlds. New York is much more European. LA in more like what a European imagines Amerika.

BILD: Tomorrow you’ll play your first complete concert after Bill’s surgery in Hollywood. Are you nervous?

Bill: Yes, of course, shit, we’re going berserk with excitement. Additionally it’s the only US-concert. We’re usually nervous, but this time it’s even worse.

BILD: Wie fühlt Ihr euch jetzt, nachdem Ihr auch in den USA so erfolgreich seid?

Tom: Wir freuen uns total über die grossen Fanresonanzen hier in den USA, aber ich sehe das Ganze trotzdem eher als einen ersten Achtungserfolg an.

BILD: How do you feel now, that you’re also successful in the USA?

Tom: We’re totally happy about the great fan resonance here in the USA, but I still see this whole thing more as a success of esteem(quote from leo: something (as a work of art) that wins critical respect but not popular success)

BILD: You call that success of esteem? You’re not that modest normally.

Tom: don’t worry, when we talk about girls next time again, I’ll be un-modest again for sure. (laughs) No, seriously: I think, that the really big success in the USA will arrive with entirely new and worldwide unpublished songs. Our goal is to publish our third album at the same time worldwide.

Bill: But we are still of course very happy and thankful for what is happening in the USA right now. We didn’t expect that a few moths ago. We just don’t want to overrate the US-success so far.

Op deze dag zullen Tokio Hotel weer op het podium staan. De band heeft het concert in het Atlantic Pavilion moeten afzeggen, maar het optreden bij Rock in Rio gaat in ieder geval wel door. Het kwartet belooft een nacht vol rock en hysterie!

Hoewel de band nu overal ter wereld sucessen boekt, had zij het vroeger toch niet bepaald makkelijk. Gustav en Georg legden het aan met de Kaulitz twins, maar voordat de eerste plaat uitgebracht kon worden, maakte Sony het contract ongeldig.

Pas drie jaar geleden zag Universal Music wat in hen. Dat was precies op tijd, want alle nummers werden stuk voor stuk hits. "Monsoon", "Ready, Set, Go!" en "1000 Oceans" zullen dus zeker wel worden gespeeld!

Nog een tip van de sluier: het eerstvolgende concert is nog niet eens opgevoerd of de band heeft al toegezegd om op 29 juni in het  Atlantic Pavilion te performen!

36. Plant a badly written Bill/Tom NC-17 innocent brotherly love fanfic on Bill’s bedside table. Make sure Tom finds it.
37. Walk in on Tom confronting Bill about the fic. Insist you do some ‘drama exercises’ to solve the situation and get rid of the tension. Ask Bill to read the fic out loud.
38. Volunteer to accompany him to shop for the costume party. Dress up as an FBI agent. Tackle him into a bush, insist he stays put while you scout the area for rabid fangirls.
39. He’s having troubles choosing between a Vampire outfit and a Phantom of the Opera outfit. Ask him what was wrong with the Zebra.
40. Bill still hasn’t decided on an outfit when Tom calls you asking for advise on what he should wear to the party. Suggest he gets a suit and dresses up as
!Sexy Hans Gruber from Die Hard. Then hung up, turn to Bill and exclaim: I’ve got it! You’d be perfect as a !Sexy Play Boy Bunny!
41. Burst out laughing while listening to Monsoon. When he asks what you are laughing at, answer with the most British accent you can manage and tell him that you think his pronunciation of ‘storm’ is really funny

New York - Mega-succes in New York!

De Amerikaanse fans eerden de vier Duitse rocksterren op het beroemde "Times Square" nadat zij twee omjubelde concerten hadden gespeeld.

Enkele fans hebben zelfs twee dagen van tevoren op "Time Square" gecampeerd, zodat ze bij het optreden in de gigangtische muziekwinkel "Virgin Store" vooraan konden staan.

Tokio Hotel-zanger Bill tegen Bild: "Ik had gedacht, dat de fans ons de vele afgezegde concerten kwalijk zouden nemen en ik had echt niet verwacht dat er zoveel van hen vandaag zouden komen!"

Zo verovert Tokio Hotel New York!

Eindelijk kan hij weer zowel spreken als zingen, die Bill (18). En als ik alles eens goed opneem, dan zijn de groupies van Tokio Hotel BILLiger en gewilliger dan voor de operatie...

Een goede reclamestunt zo tussendoor voor de teenieband. New York is gek op de vier sterren uit Duitsland. Eerst het uitverkochte concert in "Giants Stadium" op zondagavond en dan de release van het nieuwe album "Scream" dat direct in de USA-i-Tunes-charts naar plaatsje nr. 13 schoot, een kort live-optreden bij MTV's TRL en gisteren de handtekeningenronde in de "Virgin Mega Store" waarbij troosteloze verliefde meisjes tot om het cityblok in de rij stonden in hun Converse-gympies en strakke jeans terwijl ze hun buik onder korte shirtjes probeerden te verbergen.

Ongelofelijk, het moet aanvoelen als een comeback na 29 jaar. Tokio Hotel zelf zijn verrast, heeft de manager en producer David Jost mij verteld. Die is er natuurlijk blij mee dat die Amerikaanse fans elk nummer in het Engels én het Duits in zijn geheel kunnen mee zingen.

Niets anders kan dan geconcludeerd worden dan dat de stembandoperatie nog geen problemen heeft opgeleverd. Daarom ben ik ook blij voor de jongens.

Een privéleven zit er niet meer in, dan toch maar al die waanzin...

"Kijk! Het beste concert en dat allemaal dankzij Tom. Nu kan je dat ook eens goed zien, haha!"

Bill met zijn 'ik ben dé hunk' award.

"Ik ben zo blij met de grootste hunk!"

Tom:
"Hmm...ik vind die het minst leuk. Die award had er beter uitgezien als in plaats van jij ik erop had gestaan."
Bill:
"Het enige is dat ik hunk een vreemd woord vind. Het lijkt op het Duitse woord honk en dat betekent nerd."

Georg en Gustav met het nummer dat maar in je hoofd blijft hangen

"Haha, bovenaan staat 'gekozen', dat laatste hebben we dan als kotsen uitgesproken!"

Een babbel met Tom en Bill van Tokio Hotel is niet zo makkelijk nu Bill zo veel mogelijk moet zwijgen. Terwijl Tom onmiddelijk reageert, zoekt Bill eerst pen en papier om zijn antwoorden neer te schrijven. -die periode is al lang voorbij, ze zijn zelfs weer toe aan optreden...-

Het ziet ernaar uit dat Georg Listing de vrije tijd die hij na de operatie van Bill had goed heeft gebruikt. En wel om een meisjeshart op hol te laten slaan. Of het meisje dat hij bijan zoent zijn nieuwe vriendin is, houdt de 'Tokio Hotel' ster nog even geheim. Openhartiger is de TH-er Tom over zijn nieuwste tattoo: -tiens, wist eerlijk gezegt niet dat hij er eentje had (sarcasme)- grote vleugels en een zwaard op zijn schouderbladen. Deze grote tattoo is de tweede lichaamsversiering van Tom -dus nu heeft die er al ineens twee?!- Eerder liet hij zijn rechteronderarm al tatoeëren. -Hallo? schrap die "Tom" maar en zet er in de plaats Gustav! Dit bewijst weer de echtheid van het artikel...-

Hi guys, it’s Bill!
I’m so glad to be back...you can’t imagine how good this feels! We’re in NYC at the moment, we arrived here Friday afternoon. The next morning we had to get up at 5 am which was kind of tough, but being here makes up for all these little hassles…it’s terrific being in the States!
Saturday we performed at the Bamboozle Festival which was tons of fun - being back on stage was such a big relief for me! Sunday was our day off so we slept in for a really long time. After Tom and I got up we went out to grab some coffee and in the afternoon we took the chance to cruise through some New York bars ! Our next seven days will be packed with promotion and performances in New York. Stay tuned and I’ll let you know next Monday how everything went! Take care and I’ll talk to you soon.

We like to think of ourselves as a mini United Nations here, so we were delighted when the nice young Germans of Tokio Hotel stopped by the office today, hair and all.

We were pretty shocked Tom would make the undiplomatic move of wearing a Red Sox hat here in Yankee town [Ed: WTF??], but the be-dreaded guitarist assured me he was “so pretty” people can’t really get mad at him. Sorry, Tom, they so can. Fortunately for him, there’s usually a pack of screaming 14-year-old girls (and one burly bodyguard) surrounding you at all times.

Anyway, the band’s English language album Scream drops here tomorrow — it’s already out in Europe, which is why so many shrieking American tweens have all the lyrics memorized. Anime porcupine/frontboy Bill said it was pretty weird recording songs in English that he was used to singing in German. His favorite track to do live off the album is title song, while twin Tom favors “Read, Set, Go!” But don’t worry — they agree on, like, everything else!

Bij het "Bamboozle Festival" in New York traden "Tokio Hotel" voor de eerste keer na Bills stemband-OP weer op.

Tokio-Bill Schreit weer!

"Schrei! Bis du du selbst bist" is een van de nummers van Tokio Hotel.

Bill (18) is weer zichzelf en kan eindelijk weer schreeuwen. Op zaterdagavond, 34 dagen na zijn stembandoperatie, staat hij weer op het podium en wel tijdens het "Bamboozle Festival" in Amerika (USA).

"De laatste weken na de operatie leken wel een eeuwigheid voor Bill. Het was dan ook een geschenk uit de hemel dat hij eindelijk weer op de bühne kan staan," zo bandmanager David Jost tegenover B.Z. "Bill heeft de harten van de New Yorkers weten te veroveren."

Dat laatste gaat vooral op voor de vrouwelijke fans. Trots tonen zij in fora foto's van hun onderarmen 'bekleed' met handtekeningen. Enkelen leren zelfs Duits, zodat ze de nummers van de vier "Tokio Hotel"-boys kunnen meezingen.

Maar nee, dat was niet eens nodig, want ditmaal speelden Bill, Tom, Gustav en Georg slechts Engelstalige nummers (1. "Ready set go – Übers Ende der Welt", 2. "Break away – Ich brech aus", 3. "Monsoon"). Zo'n 4.000 fans konden de songs zonder problemen meezingen terwijl de Tokio Hotel CD nog niet eens in Amerika in de verkoop is gegaan!

Een mega-succes voor de vier boys, die op 13 juni eindelijk weer in Duitsland zullen optreden. Het concert zal plaatsvinden in de uitverkochte Dortmundse Westfalenhalle. Voor schreiende Fans - die dan ook weer zichzelf kunnen zijn...

Tokio Hotel: Bill Kaulitz - Voor de Amis zingt hij weer!

Vier weken lang mocht zanger Bill Kaulitz geen woord spreken, Tokio Hotel kon geen concerten meer geven, de tour moest worden afgezegd... Maar nu vieren de jonge Magdeburger hun mini-comeback tijdens een Festival in New Jersey. Maar voor zij konden optreden, stond Snoop Dogg nog op het podium...

Een cyste moest van Bill's linkerstemband worden verwijderd, na de operatie werd hem het zwijgen opgelegd en tot slot moest hij zijn stem weer in vorm zien te krijgen door die te trainen.

Een maand zonder Bill! Voor de fans van Tokio Hotel veranderde de situatie in een ware nachtmerrie.

"Ik dacht: O God! Hopelijk neemt niemand mij dit kwalijk," zegt Bill over de situatie. "En hopelijk is niemand boos."

Talrijke Anti-fans van de band ervaarden deze tijd als en vakantie voor de horen. Tokio Hotel polariseert namelijk als geen enkele andere band...

Maar zaterdagavond was het weer zo ver! De geboren Magdeburger staat samen met zijn drie bandmembers - tweelingbroer Tom Kaulitz (18), Gustav Schäfer (19) en Georg Listing (21) - in New Jersey op het podium. En dat bij hét "Bamboozle Festival", het eerste optreden na de operatie.

Omdat Bill's stem nog niet geheel uit het helingsproces is, konden Tokio Hotel slechts 3 nummers performen.

"4.000 Fans stonden voor het podium en konden alle nummers zó meezingen!" zegt bandmanager David Jost, en dat terwijl het US-Album nog niet eens in de verkoop is gegaan. "Bill was nogal ongeduldig en snel op zijn teentjes getrapt voor het optreden, maar toen hij eenmaal op de bühne stond was hij de nervoziteit zo kwijt," aldus Jost over het eerste concert na de OP.

Bij dit festival in New Jersey hebben in het verleden grote namen als de Rolling Stones, Prince en Nirvana opgetreden. Vlak voordat de Magdeburger erop mochten, was de Amerikaanse rapper Snoop Dogg nog aan het performen -een volbloedmuzikant, die de Duitse nieuwelingen vast even vreemd heeft aangekeken. Toch moet het kwartet daar snel aan wennen aangezien ze aanstaande donderdag tijdens de Late Night Show van Conan O'Brien zullen optreden en daar dus ook op enkele veelbetekenende blikken kunnen rekenen.

Na dat publieke optreden volgt nog een concert op 13 mei. Dit zal het enige concert in de USA zijn en het zal plaatsvinden in de "Avalon" in Hollywood.

"Bill heeft de harten van de New Yorkers veroverd," meent manager Jost.   
Al in februari van dit jaar stonden Tokio Hotel in New York op het podium. De "New York Times" publiceerde in hun online-versie een coververhaal en een filmpje over de band! Daardoor ziet men nu in Amerika overal op plakkaten eenduidige liefdesaanbiedingen opduiken en hoort men zinnetjes als: "Wir lieben Tokio Hotel!"

Het maakt niet uit waar de band komt, ze laten de fans in wantoestand achter...

Ruim vijf weken na zijn stembandoperatie staat rockstar Bill Kaulitz (18) met zijn band "Tokio Hotel" voor het eerst weer voor een publiek.

Samen met de boys zong hij tijdens een Open-Air-Festival bij het bekende "Giants Stadium" in New York (USA) drie hits in het Engels voor ruim 4000 Fans . Bill stem was nog nooit zo sterk en vol energie!

De komende week racen Tokio Hotel van hot naar her, van termijn naar termijn in New York en ze zullen daarnaast door Amerikaanse media worden geïnterviewd. Volgende week gaat de cd "Scream" in de USA in de verkoop.

Wel, voor ik (opnieuw) op zoek ga naar foto's van het Bamboozle Festival wil ik jullie nog wel iets anders laten zien:
Fans die geregeld youtube afzoeken naar dingen over Tokio Hotel herinneren zich dit vast wel
(het is al een iets ouder "dingetje" van vorig jaar ergens) :



-ik dacht nochtans dat er ook eentje was met Engelse ondertiteling, maar die vind ik niet meer-

Wel het gaat dus over het feit dat Tom en Bill Kaulitz "betrapt" waren op een porno Party.
Zij zeggen gewoon dat ze daar toevallog een vergadering hadden.
Tom geeft wel toe dat hij gekeken heeft
-grote verbazing *kucht*-
maar Bill beweert hier dat hij maar in een hoekje zat en er niets van vond...

MAAR, mogen we Bill wel op zijn woord geloven ?
Want in zijn "profiel" zegt hij zelf dat hij nogal vaak liegt ...

Ons vertouwen in Bill blijkt dan toch goed te zijn,
