We have been busy showing Rudi around our house. He has been with us to a Kartoffel-Feuer (Potatoe-Fest), with all the parents and children down by the river Rhein.
We made a big fire for our potatoes and had a buffet withsalads and snacks (all organized by the parents).
In the green group he helped preparing the Laternsfor our St.Martin´s Celebration. In the yellow group he had breakfast andjoined the children for their morning circle. One of the girls took him homeand showed him how she lives (photos will follow).
Next week Rudi will go to the Fliednerstraße andvisit the blue and the red group. He will check out our building site, we heard that the doors have been installed.

In Germany we made potato waffles, very yummy and easy to prepare
Ingredients for 4 Persons:
500g potatoes,
best if boiled the day before
250g flour
100g butter,
melted
200ml milk
4 medium
sized eggs
1 package
backing powder
1 ½ tspsalt
Boil the potatoes. Then, let them cool .
Cut the potatoes into small pieces and place them in a large bowl. Add melted
butter to the potatoes.Next, mix
together all additional ingredients with the potatoes and butter. This will form
a thick batter. Pour batter into waffle iron to cook.
Tip: Instead of cutting the potatoes into
small pieces, try placing them into a resalable bag. Seal bag
and knead potatoes until thoroughly mashed.
Serve with smooth herbal cottage cheese,
called Kräuter Quark in German, or serve the savory waffles as a side item with
meat.
