The meaning of this blog is to give all the four participating countries (Germany, England, Latvia and Belgium) a chance to post messages over here about all the different activities that have been going on in their classes concerning the comenius project. If the four participating schools post messages over here it will be easier for everybody to follow what has been going on in each school. It's also a possibility to post pictures of the four mascottes so that the children can see what their mascatte, who already is staying in another country, is up to. The children will love to be able to see what their friend is doing and experiencing.
Hopefully this blog will be a great succes. If everybody makes an effort we will enjoy this blog!
I hope you are doing well! And has spring finally returned? Benji has experienced a lot in the last days, he was present at our traditional Spring Festival. We celebrate it once a year in April and it is organized by our kindergartens. It has much to offer: bake sale, BBQ stand, a stage where small and big children perform, a wheel of fortune with great prizes, a bouncing castle, and everyone who wants to, can sell their used objects, like childrens belongings, toys, books and much more ... (flea market)
Hello everybody! Two weeks before our easter holliday we learned about Easter at school! In some of our classes we had little baby chickens. And on thursday before easter holliday, we searched for easter eggs at school! We found A LOT of eggs! We also painted baby chickens on a big sheet of paper!! in Belgium we celebrated "CARNAVAL". It's one day a year we all dress up really funny! We pretend to be someone else! We had lots of fun that day! For lunch we had french fries in stead of our usual sandwiches! We were really happy about that! They a look at the pics and you can see that also Theodor and Frieda had a great time! Lots of love!!
Hi everyone, Another busy week at school last week! We had a Maths Fun Day where the whole day was spent taking part in various numeracy activities. Helmut helped me make a pictures using shapes based on a painting by the artist Kandinsky. Friday was Red Nose Day where people all over the UK raised money for the charity, Comic Relief. We had a non uniform and Mad Hair day! As you can see, Helmut joined in with his afro wig! All the staff had fun too!
in Belgium we celebrated all our grandparents! So we performed for them a great show! The subject of our show was COMENIUS. So we performed dances about the four comenius countries that are in our project: Belgium, Latvia, Germany and England. We started the show wiht a dance of the flags, the children wore white t-shirts with prints of all the flags, they had a stick with a white flag presenting Helmut! We also danced to a Latvian folkdance song, we saw the guards of Buckingham palace and from Germany came some fairy tale characters to dance for us! At the end of the show we danced to a Belgian song dressed as french fries! Enjoy the pictures!
At Bowburn, we celebrated Chinese New Year- The Year of the Snake, with lots of different activities. Some children visited the Oriental Museum in Durham. An Educational Chef came to school to cook Chinese food. These photos show Helmut taking part in a Chinese Dragon Dance! He had a really good time. So did the children!
a few weeks ago one of the children's grandmother visited our school with 9 puppies! They were so cute! The children loved it of course and they had a lot of fun cuddling those sweet little doggies! The teachers were busy wiping the floor now and then...the puppies hadn't learned yet to pee outside!

As you all could read in our previous post, we celebrated the fest of SINTERKLAAS in Belgium! Benji was very excited to meet Sinterklaas en zwarte piet for the first time! He liked Sinterklaas a lot! Have a look at our lovely pictures of Benji, the children and Sinterklaas!!
