Ok, I have th share this, it's too funny not to ... Last night, I was picking out the right color of beads, I wanted to try the hubble stich. I planned to make it a small strip, for on the closure of this year's "holidays-diary". So the colors should match with the cover. Me: "hun, what pink looks better on this, the left or the right?" Bob: " The left pink, sweetie, the right pink is salmon". This morning, he saw the small part of the work I had already done, and said: "Nice sweatheart! Next step may be to learn left from right perhaps?" ... Right .... 😏 🤣🤣 I think I'll just change the cover 😂😂😂

Besides fiddling around with beads and recyclables, I do have another hobby: Postcrossing. And yesterday I had a very happy mailbox, with 6 cards! And a happy mailbox.... is a happy me! 2 "officials", coming from Russia and Germany, and 4 '"Valentine-kiss" RAS cards. That made me wanting to write a card too today So my card - a Postcrossing official - is going to ...... Finland! Yeah, that will be a quicky!! O and no rude comment on the last 2 cards please, I see the B&W as art, and the other one... well, that's just funny, isn't it

I'm in a "funny DIY-mood" so I thought of making pillboxes. Now I have to open several boxes every morning, thinking o which to and which not to take and make sure I am awake enough not to miss ... or just forget to take them only to find them at the breakfast table when I come home after work... Most "ready to use" pillboxes I found in the shop were either too small, or too big - or just too plain ugly - to use. But I remembered a hack on youtube, where they made a jewelrybox out of the screwtop and cap of a plastic bottle. The only thing I didn't like was that they cut out a round piece of plastic to glue at the bottom of the screwtop, as bottom. Knowing myself, it wouldn't take a week before I managed to cut myself on the glued edge. So I just cut off the top of the bottle, below the neck, just there were the soft part begins, and glued a cap on that side. That's all there is to it! Just fill with what you want to use it for, screw another cap on the top end and you're done! Easypeasy! Why is one in another color? Because once a week I have to skip some meds to avoid conflict with others I have to take just that day. And since I'm not well awake in the morning.. ;-)

Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen My clothespins basket broke. It just fell off the line once too many. I used a tote bag instead, since that was the first thing at hand - I was about to hang it to dry ... but I wasn't completely satisfied with it. So I have been thinking about a more handy solution. Not a basket, because that was not a long-lasting solution, I wanted something that I could hang over my shoulder like the totebag, but also had a more stiff opening so I wouldn't grab besides it instead of in it. I could just have added an embroidery ring at the top, but I don't have one laying around, and buying one costs twice as buying 2 new plastic baskets. This morning, I was just about to crush a 5liter/1.32gallon water bottle, when it hit me. PERFECT!! All I used to make it a "basket" is the brim (neck) of an old t-shirt, a cord that came out of an old jacket, and 2 cord stoppers. I glued the brim around the egde, just to make sure I won't cut myself using it, made a hole on each side for the cord, and used the cord stoppers for hanging the basket at the desired length. That easy Although I will sew the brim as well, as soon as I have my sewingmachine out. Untill then, it will do quite fine.

Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen It's still itching, I was getting boored, and wanted to do something, so I started snooping around in my recycle box. Read: pulling everything out to see what I have left in there, so my livingroom looked like an exploded wardrobe.. and I came up with an old sweater. Perfect! I instantly knew what to do with it: the cold and very old bathroom chair! So after some measuring, and measuring, and drawing the design on the inside of the sweater, and again measuring, I started sewing. Because I wanted it to be a sweater and not 'just some cover', I kept the neck. And since the logo was printed at the sleeve, I used that to cover the back. Not bad ... for a "quick fix for a cold butt" ... Now let's continue with the homesocks for my hubby, I promised him to be able to enjoy them before winter is over...

Under the guise of doing some finger- and beading exercise, I've beaded some crosses. Actually I just had fun making these I like cross pendants, have a lot of them, but none of them is beaded. Since I still don't have all the beading tools needed, both of those crosses took me quite a while to make.

Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen I was cleaning out my diy-cabinets and found my beads... I've thrown out / gave away a lot of stuff, but these beads brought back sweet, 35y old, memories so I couldn't give them away. I knew I couldn't keep them either, without doing anything with them, so I started browsing the internet about beads, beading, looming with beads, ... and many hours later i found myself beading a little bracelet .. 2 days later it was finished. My wrists and fingers hurt, and some joints were swollen, but I was so proud! I want to do this again, but not this week anymore. First my hands have to get better. So that I can enjoy this nice little bracelet just a little longer.

Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen Finally!! FInished my pouf! This was a "yeah .. whenever.."project. To be done but not urgent. Although I missed it, I wasn't in a hurry to finish it. All because other things seemed more important, more urgent. But in fact, because I did'nt have the guts to continue... The inner pouf was ready and already in use. Very annoying, because it was actually just a floppy bag filled with little styrofoam balls. So I gave myself a hugh kick under my backside, and got started. Only the zippers needed to be sewed in, that was "all" . Since I am not a seemstress, it took me some time to get it worked out - it was too long time ago I used my sewingmachine but smart enought to - this time - take the manual to solve the problems with the thread clogging up the spoolhouse. From then it went smooth. So here it is, my mexican pouf! Finally finished! Still some fabric left for some decorative pillows though ...

This used to be my pair of jeans ... a bit worn out, as could happen with jeans, so why not make it a bag?

To warm to study, it never was a good excuse, but hey, sometimes all excuses are good enough for having fun! And I had 30 times fun with making these envelopes!

Today, the stair well was next ‘victim’ of my D.I.Y- optimism. We discovered under 6 layers of wallpaper a nice wooden wall, made from old planks. It took me all morning and almost all afternoon scrubbing all glue from the wood, but hey, playing with water … that’s not working, that’s fun!

    June 28, 2013

The wood has dried out perfectly, so time for a coat of primer!
