Mark and Tom started the band in 1991. They were 14 years old. They called the band Blink and played Punk music. Scott Raynor became their drummer. First they played in clubs around San Diego. They were succesfull. In 1993 they started recording music. Blink draw attention of Grilled Cheeseand they gave them their first contract for an album. This Album was named Cheshire Cat and stood high in the Top Of The Pops.
In 1996 they were discovered by MCA Records. As they got a contract they had to change their name because in Ireland there was already a band with the name Blink. So they chose Blink182. They don't know why, they just found it sounded good. They released a new album called 'Dude Ranch'. It became a very big success in Australia, Canada and the U.S.
In 1997 they had a first tour. In 1999 they started recording a new album. Scot left the band and Travis came in his place. They had also an album in 2000 and 2001. All the people in the world expected more of Blink 182
Blink-182 (also known as blink-182 or simply Blink to fans) was a United States rock trio that played pop punk and punk rock music. The band was originally formed in 1992 by Tom DeLonge (vocals and guitar) and Scott Raynor (drums) who quickly recruited Mark Hoppus (vocals and bass) in Poway, California,a northern suburb of San Diego. Originally, the band's official name was "Blink", however, the numerical three digit suffix was appended early in their career following an objection from an Irish band with the same name. Travis Barker replaced Raynor on drums in 1998, midway through a U.S. tour. Delonge left the group in 2005, with the band portraying it as an "indefinite hiatus" and virtually ceasing to exist. DeLonge went on to play alternative rock in a band called Angels & Airwaves, while Hoppus and Barker continued in a similar genre with their band +44.
Blink-182 was known for their catchy, simple melodies, teen angst, and lyrical toilet humor. Songwriters Hoppus and DeLonge cite punk rock. bands such as The Descendents and Screeching Weasel as their early influences, however, the band's songwriting and production was driven by a pop sensibility and they were primarily known for popular hits such as "All The Small Things", "Feeling This", "Adam's Song", "What's My Age Again", "The Rock Show", "Dammit" and "I Miss You" . Their last album featured more musical experimentation and lyrical sophistication than previous releases.(you can listen to the number on the blog).
Blink 182 DEFINITIVELY STOPPED Blink 182 has definitively stopped. A couple days suffered communicated we all that there rumours was that the link would stop. Now the trio in a press bulletin lets know that those rumours where proved be. The members of shine 182 want after 10 years more time on their private lifes spend and the fruit pick of their success.
