Today I would like to gide you around in the
beautiful city of Bruges.
We start at the Jan Van Eyck square. The Jan
Van Eyck square was build in 1787 as a memorie to Jan Van Eyck. Because he is
one of the flemisch primitives and
godfather from belgian Art. His most famous painting is The Lam Gods, which you
can find in the city of Ghent.
When we continu in Bruges we arrive at a piece
of modern art. The cyclers made from
plastic and metal in pretty flashy colors makes the city a little bit modern.
Toyo Ito, the creator of these statues, made it in 2012 because of the tour the
france came for the 100th editions to Bruges.
We continu our guidetour through Bruges at the
Burg. Here you have a lot of intresting old monuments. We start at the
city-hall, with his gotic art at the outside and his symmetric figurines, its
a typical renaissance building. At the right side of the city-hall you have the
basilic of the holy blood. This chapel has some relic from the Duke of
Vlaanderen.
Between the basilic and the other buildings
there is a small tunnel. At the end of this tunnel you arrive at the Belford.
The Belfort is the tallest building of Bruges.
Every hour it makes a lot of noise. You can climbe till the top, and there you
have a beautiful view around. At the Belfort you also have some conference and
activity rooms. If you pass the Belfort you arrive at the grand place. The
grand place has a lot of nice restaurants and an intresting museum : Historium.
If we continu to give some good advice of
bruges, here are some interesting museums:
Chocostory: a small museum about chocolate and
the making off.
The frit museum is the next one. Everything in
there is about french frites; very nice
to taste everything.
Brugges biermuseum: big museum about
everything bier. You can have interesting bier tastings.
To finish this guidetour around Bruges there
are also some nice restaurant:
Zen restaurant: not in the center but if you
like vegetarian food this is a nice restaurant.
Bocca: nice take a way pasta.
A last tip: if you come by car: park your car
at the station, it is cheap and you can take a free bus to the city center.
In my blog of today I would like to talk about Absynthe minded. This is a belgian band founded in 1999 in Ghent. The music they maid is like indi-rock with some jazz in it. In 2004 they participated at the Humos Rock Rally where theyve reached the finals. After a difficult start, they became more famous. In 2010 theyve won best song and best album in the music industry awards. Now in 2015 they decided to quite. They singer started his own project and absynthe minded dont exist enymore. The end of the band wasnt planned. But like they said in the article of the Morgen they were tiered of playing like that. Hopefully they come back again!
I would
like to take about drums. Or rather about a particular drum beat. You heart it Thousands of times,
its a pop beat.
The
breakbeat or amen beat, it is very popular in the last years and it
became part of our culture.
It gets his
name from Amen Brother a song released by the Winstons in 1969, from the
winstons color album called him father
(dit stuk is niet nodig). They won a Grammy with that song and the song became
one of the top 100 songs in 1969. The band is best known for that song.
It came and
went, but the drum loops were used is 80s and 90s. The sampler is a basic
for hiphop. Later on it was also the basics for drum & bass.
Now a lot of Djs use the drum loop because it gives a vibe, a
lot energie. They can
do a lot of it, and you have always the same tempo to go on with.
Whats your fasination about this amen break?
Let me know!
Why do you listen to Pop music? Because you can not.
Run away from it?
1)
when pop music: sing-along songs, Music makes you move like Rihanna..
AZ go (Wat is AZ? Is
dit een persoon? Vervoeg je werkwoord dan: AZ goes) as follows. First
you learn the words, then you sing along, Then you get the idea that you know
the song by heart ,and then it comes out on Itunes for 99 cents. The trick is
(for the song) to conquer the world, so that just by playing a few notes,
everyone is able to recognise the song and sing along.
a) writing a number takes time and effort
b) Making the listener believe that they have a saying
in the amount of radio air time of their favourite song = de luisteraar laten
geloven dat zij inbreng hebben
e) Radio is at the phenomenon a very important medium,
because these by 92% of the population settled here to listen as 12 years
older. ¼ of these listeners say they really love music and listen to the radio
daily. Consequently, radio can make or break an upcoming artist.
c) Market stability is very important because its
difficult to start a pop label) Its the labels managers and their sponsors
that decide which songs we hear)
dMany artists appear ON tv shows, on posters and IN
advertising campaigns to increase their fame (= bekendheid) and their sales
value)
f) Payola, radio stations receiving bribes in order to
play certain songs (= Payola, radio stations die smeergeld ontvangen om
bepaalde liedjes te spelen), is illegal (of against the law. It still
happens, but not as much as it used to. Now, radio stations tend to play songs that are used in commercials.)
g) Target value created by music diploiment music to
view the situation: 1) the media Stockholm syndrome = Some songs grow on you:
at first youre not fond of it, but when you hear the song a few times, you
start to like it. We find the song but nothing, hear the a number of times,
after we find it hard to then end up with Yes I think it is a good thing. Pop
music is to have a meaning but not with how it is and where it is played.
What are the ways in which pop music meaning Gets?
Everybody interprets music differently. We are all
influenced by our gender, age, and education. So I think this is a very
difficult question to answer. People also have a different taste in
music: my kind of music might not be yours.
Some songs are linked to an experience and trigger
memories: like your first kiss. Music can also exhibit a habit patern :always
listen to the same songs or the same artist.
For me personally, I know that many people consider my
music style not as music but as noise on the other hand, Im a creature of
habit when it comes to listening to music: The radio is always playing in the
car and at home, I always listen to the same songs by the same artists.
In 2000 he was a
rapper under the name Opsmaestro, but he changed his name later on to Stromae. It
is under this name that Victor Van Haver became famous. A year after the release

10 different countries with his second single "Alors on danse. The single
was a number one hit in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, The Netherlands,
Greece, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Belgium, his home country. In the spring
of 2010, "Alors on danse" was released in the rest of Europe. Stromae
won a European Border Breakers Award In 2011. The European Border Breakers
Awards are awarded to ten emerging artists who commenced their successful careers
outside their own national borders the year before. On August 19th 2013,
his second album Racine carrée was released. The album contains amongst others,
four of his most important singles: "Papaoutai",

of the Grammys). His singles "Formidable" and "Papaoutai" both
went Double Platinum and his single "Tous les mêmes" went Platinum.
The album itself went seven times Platinum (which corresponds to approximately
140.000 albums sold. In March 2014, his song "Ta fête" was selected
as the official song of the Red Devils for the World Cup in Brazil. On April 1st
of that same year he launched his own clothing brand Mosaert. On the 9th
of June he performed at Pinkpop. Nowadays he has a relationship with his
stylist Coralie Barbier, before he had a relationship with model Tatiana Silva.
