Newport earned a deserved win over Grimsby in League Two thanks to a second half strike from Padraig Amond.
The Welsh side had threatened throughout the match and in a one-sided first period, Exiles skipper Josh Labadie and Amond himself had goal-bound efforts cleared off the line.
The deadlock was finally broken on 63 minutes when Irishman Amond drove home after a long-throw fell at his feet.
Grimsby saw Diallang Jaiyesimi's shot saved by Joe Day, but Newport held on.
Newport boss Mike Flynn told BBC Wales Sport: "I knew the response I was going to get because of the group of players we've got. They are an honest bunch.
"Everything pleased me, the chances we created, the amount of second balls we won and the decision making. It was a solid performance and apart from missing a few chances it could not have gone much better."
