You don't always need a snare drum for use with brushes.
Try to play with brushes on a carton box, a plastic bag taped on a hard surface or some aluminium foil ... it works great and has a pretty unique sound too.

WELKOM ! - WELCOME !
Van harte welkom gewenst op deze blog! Hier kan je de projecten en organisaties vinden aan of bij wie ik op momenteel één of andere manier verbonden ben als drummer, zanger, producent of me gewoon kan en mag thuisvoelen. Bezoek zeker eens de links die je her en der op de blog kan vinden.
ACcompagnato is een (italiaanse) muziekterm en wil zoveel zeggen als 'begeleidend' of 'begeleiding'. De hoofdletters verwijzen ook ineens naar Artistiek Centrum, hoewel dit laatse zeker geen synoniem is voor een groot gebouw of plaats. Het is de weloverwogen gekozen naam voor de binnenkort officiële rechtspersoonlijkheidsvorm via welke ik als muzikant - artiest binnen afzienbare tijd naar buiten wens te treden. Meer info over wie, wat en hoe zal hier binnenkort te lezen zijn.

De Koninklijke Gentse Politieharmonie vond haar ontstaan in 1901. Oorspronkelijk bestond dit orkest uitsluitend uit actief politiepersoneel en waren zowel repetities als uitvoeringen steeds in prioritair dienstverband. Door evolutie en vooral door besparingen, werd besloten het orkest midden jaren 2000 uit het politie organigram te halen waardoor ook muzikale burgers de kans kregen zich bij het orkest te voegen. Momenteel staat de Koninklijke Gentse Politieharmonie, kortweg KGPH, onder muzikale leiding van kapelmeester Johan Van den Eede met als onderkapelmeester Filip Van Keer. Zij bieden een gevarieerd muzikaal programma aan, gaande van protocolair gerichte werken over typische muziek voor harmonie orkesten tot lichte en luchtige muziek.
The Royal Band of the Ghent Police Force was found in 1901. Originally, the band was formed by police officers only and band rehearsals and performances were high priority in duty. Due to evolution but also to savings, mid 2000 the decision was made to reform the band, out of the force but still with enough links, and citizens playing an instrument were also allowed to join. These days, the band plays under the lead of their conductor Johan Van den Eede and attendant conductor Filip Van Keer They bring military inspired music as well as some 'light' music.

Het Wanzeelse Woord is een collectief van auteurs, dichters en woordliefhebbers die elke maand één keer samenkomen in een gezellig kader en gezellige sfeer om voor te lezen uit eigen werk of in debat te treden over een bepaald thema binnen de wereld van de literatuur. Ook jonge mensen krijgen er de kans kennis te maken met het woord of voor te dragen uit eigen werk.
The Local Poetry Association Wanzele is formed by several autors, poets and word - lettered peoples, meeting once a month reading parts of their own books or written poetry. Also setting up debates in a theme with a link to the written or spoken word is one of their activities. Even the young ones can and are stimulated to participate these activities.
LEDE TOWN CRIERS SOCIETY

De Sociëteit der Leedse Bellemannen- en vrouwen wordt gevormd door enkele Leedse inwoners die beschikken over een krachtige, luide en klare stem. Elk van hen woont ofwel in Lede of in één van de deelgemeenten zodat een beurtrol kan worden aangewend. Een belleman kan ingezet worden voor de aankondiging van evementen in de gemeente tijdens de wekelijkse markt, voor het openen van ceremonies of de begeleiding ervan en andere activiteiten.
The Lede Town Criers Society is formed by six men/women (!!) with good, strong, loud and well pronouncing voices. Each of them are living in a part of the town (subminicipality) so a wide range of "broadcasting" is covered. A Town Crier can be very useful for making announcements at the local fair or market, for the opening or accompaniment during ceremonies or events.

Jongens en hun dromen ... maar sommige dromen kunnen uitkomen ... Voor muzikanten (en vooral drummers) in het algemeen is het nooit makkelijk een woonst te vinden zonder dat buren beginnen te klagen. Maar als je dan de kans krijgt om én een ideale repetitieruimte te hebben én ook nog eens technisch uitgerust bent om summiere opnames of pre producties te gaan maken ... dan ben je wel héél dankbaar ! Of het nu gaat om een liedje in te zingen, een heuse begeleidingsband aan te maken, muziek onder je films te plaatsen of je ensemble audio matig te registeren ... dat kan allemaal.
Boys and their toys and dreams ... but dreams can come true ! As a musician (and especially as drummers) ii s far from easy to find a house or a place to live not disturbing the neighbors often complaining about 'noise'. But if you get the chance to find a property housing a rehearsal compartment AND technically equipped to record on a low budget level or offering pre production facilities ... than you should be grateful ! And I know I AM ! Either if you want to record your voice onto a backing track, recording your own song(s), putting a soundtrack to your video or recording a small ensemble ... it is all possible.

WANZELE MUSICIANS - De Wanzeelse Muzikanten

De Wanzeelse Muzikanten zijn een collectief van lokale muzikanten uit het dorpje Wanzele bij Lede. In 2008 ronselde toenmalig dorpspastoor Paul De Wilde - zelf een begenadigd en verdienstelijk cellist ! - enkele gelijkgestemde zielen als Jan Huib Nas (inwoner van Wanzele en toenmalig directeur aan de Gemeentelijke Academie voor Muziek en Woord) en Filip Van Keer en gaf zo de opstart voor deze niet alledaagse vorm van orkestbeleving. Traditionele instrumenten, moderne instrumenten, historische instrumenten, ethnische instrumenten en een kerkorgel (uiteraard) ;.. geen combinatie is gek genoeg om samen te musiceren met het oorspronkelijk doel voor ogen: mensen samen brengen en laten genieten van mooie muziek. Het collectief tracht elk jaar één concert te geven al dan niet binnen een thema en wordt er in de mate van het mogelijke een goed doel gekoppeld aan het concert.
The Wanzele Musicians is a collective of local musicians brought together by the towns pastor / priest Paul De Wilde - beeing a great cello player himself. At first, Jan Huib Nas (former director of the local school of music and arts and inhabitant) and Filip Van Keer together with Paul De Wilde took the lead but soon this collective managed to create their own identity by combining several kinds of instruments and musical styles. A combination of instruments not seen every day: traditional instruments, modern instruments, historic instruments, ethnical instruments and a church organ (of course). Once a year, a concert as a benefit for a good cause is organized with appreciated succes.
THE GATE
Een rockformatie gevormd door 4 goede vrienden met een (voor)liefde voor rockmuziek. Met een knipoog naar de rockstijl uit de jaren '80 en '90 van vorige eeuw, afgewisseld met eigentijdse rockinvloeden is hun programma hoofdzakelijk opgebouwd rond eigen composities en slechts af en toe doorbroken door een enkel "eigen-wijs" arrangement van een gekend werk. Reeds 4 CD's en 1 LP werden aan het publiek voorgesteld. Zoek en beluister ons via Spotify !

A wink to the rockstyle of the '80s and '90s of the last century combined with nowadays rock influences, their repertoire mainly exists out of very own compositions with just a minor or a few "stubborn" arrangements of a single cover or two. Door het trainen van Aikido - en in het bijzonder de originele Iwama school - onstaat er balans in geest en lichaam...het helpt zelfs psychologisch als uitvoerend muzikant ... klinkt raar zegt u ?? Nog niet half zo gek als je weet dat het voldoening kan bieden. Aikido is een levensvisie, een toewijding over hoe je een landbouwer kan zijn die als het moet aardig kan vechten maar niet om een vechter te zijn die niet in staat is om niets anders te kennen en daardoor alles aan zich voorbij laat gaan. Zelfs de geestelijke vader van Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba - ook wel O'Sensei genoemd - was onophoudelijk bezig zijn eigen krijgskunst aan te passen en verbeteren. De tai jitsu (open hand technieken) en de bukiwaza ( wapens) zijn in harmonie tot elkaar....het een kan niet zonder het ander ...het is ingewikkelder dan wat men ervan denkt of zegt.
By practising Aikido - and the original Iwama style in particular - I can find balance between mind and body ... and it even helps me out psychologically when I'm performing as a musician on stage...weird you say ??? Not likely ... yet satisfying. Aikido is a lifetime achievement of how to become a farmer who can fight when necessary and not a fighter not knowing how to support his family or friends in time of need. Even the founder Morihei Ueshiba, referred to as O'Sensei, was in a constant movement to improve his own founded martial art skills. The tai jitsu (open hand techniques) and bukiwaza (weapons) are also in harmony to each other ... one can not be practiced without the other ... it's far more complicated than what people may think or say.

The Ghent District Highlanders was oorspronkelijk een duo van twee doedelzakspelers: Anthony Stolarek en Werner Middelaer. Reeds meer dan 20 jaar waren zij actief op tal van evenementen en stonden zij met regelmaat ook op het podium naast binnenlandse artiesten als Connie Neefs tijdens concerten. In 2001 vervoegden slagwerkers Filip Van Keer en Yolande Haeck het duo en werd de basis gelegd om een heuse Gentse doedelzakvereniging in het leven te roepen. In 2002 werd dan ook The Ghent District Highlanders Pipeband vzw boven de doopvond gehouden en genieten zij tot de dag van vandaag succes op elk evenement waar zij te gast zijn. Een vrijblijvende selectie onder de muzikanten neemt ook graag deel aan binnen- en buitenlandse wedstrijden voor doedelzakverenigingen.
Op 16 juni 2018 nemen wij deel aan de miniband competitie in Xanten (NL/D) waar we uitkomen in Graad 4
The Ghent District Highlanders was just a duo of two bagpipe players by it's origin: Anthony Stolarek and Werner Middelaer. Over more than 20 years they were active at events and concerts with several symphonic bands and artists such as the Belgian female singer Connie Neefs. In 2001, two drummers joined them: Filip Van Keer and Yolande Haeck and this became the solid base to start up a real pipeband in Ghent with succes to this day and beyond. Some of the band members joined forces and do participate to miniband pipeband competitions.
2018, march 24th, the band is participating the miniband competition at Xanten (NL/D) competing in Grade 4.
LEGACY LIVE...European MJ Tribute Band feat. Christ'Of
www.move4events.com In 2009 overleed popicoon Michael Jackson. Christophe Lequesne was reeds jaar en dag de man die elke weekend wel ergens op een podium stond met zijn bangelijk realistische imitatie als Michael Jackson. Niet voor niets werd hij door Sony uitgeroepen als Europe's Sound & Look alike N° 1 en had hij de eer om Michael Jackson enkele keer te mogen ontmoeten van wie hij veel lof in ontvangst mocht nemen. De nacht dat Michael Jackson overleed was Christophe Lequesne ironisch genoeg doende met de laatste voorbereidingen rond een voorstelling in de dansschool waar hij les gaf - Danscenter Move Aalst - als hommage aan Michael Jackson. Er werd dan ook besloten om het geheel groter te aanzien en van een leerlingenrecital kwam er nog datzelfde jaar een heuse 'in memoriam' show met live orkest en dansers onder de naam This Is Now, een verwijzing naar This is It, wat het laatste concert van Michael Jackson had moeten worden.
Het concept had danig succes - mede door de deelname van binnen- en buitenlandse artiesten die op één of andere manier iets te maken hadden met Michael Jackson - en werd na het succesvol concert aangepast om te kunnen plaaten in theaters of op festivals. 13 koppige live band, 8 tot 12 dansers, een toffe technische ploeg brengen anderhalf uur een spetterende voorstelling die je doet geloven dat Michael Jackson nog onder de levenden is. En het verhaal is nog lang niet uitverteld...
In 2009 the world lost the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Christophe Lequesne at that time, was a very well known european MJ impersonator and was named by Sony as Europe MJ Sound & Look alike N° 1. He had the chance to meet and great his idol several times. The night MJ died, ironically Christophe was in preparation for a student recital at the local dance academy Dancecenter Move, paying tribute to his idol. The decision was made to pull open the concept from a small recital into a real tribute show with live band, dancers and honored guests with a link to the king of pop. The show was called This is Now, referring to MJ 's final concert to be ... This is It. The concept was a great succes and was adapted to fit in theatres and festivals... so a theatre and festival tour was organized. 13 musicans, 8 to 12 dancers and a great technical team brought about an hour and a half MJ back to life on stage as if he had never left us. And ... it continues ... as we keep the Legacy of the king of pop Michael Jackson alive !! More to come !! Stay Tuned ...
