TNA WRESTLING "IMPACT!" RESULTS FOR JUNE 26, 2008 By Charles Rice
The Phenomenal AJ Styles and TNA high-flyer Consequences Creed started the night off in exciting fashion. In a match that pitted the two former training buddies against each other, there were tons of high flying moves and counters on one another. In the end it was Styles who picked up the victory after he hit the Styles Clash on Creed.
AJs night was far from over though. Just after his match ended, Jeremy Borash came down and informed Styles that Kurt was in the parking lot waiting for Karens arrival. With that, Styles took off running for the parking lot. After a commercial break cameras caught up with the Phenomenal one in the parking lot as Kurt was being held back by security from AJ and Karen. AJ then demanded that Karen stay in the locker room with him because he didnt want Kurt to get her.
Back in the iMPACT! Zone it was time for one of the nights featured contests. Brother Ray was taking on The Instant Classic Christian Cage. Before the match even began, Brother Ray said that he and Brother Devon had taken out Rhino and tonight they would do the same to Cage, promising he was going to do something that had never been done in wrestling before.
At the beginning of the match it looked like Cage was out to make Brother Ray eat his words. It was all Cage from the get go. That is until Team 3Ds sidekick Johnny Devine came out welding a kendo stick. Still, Cage was able to knock Devine out of the ring and avoid certain damage. However, this was just the distraction Brother Ray needed. Grabbing the kendo stick, he cracked it over the back of Cage causing him to go down. The match was called a disqualification but that didnt stop Brother Ray who was just getting started. Signaling to the back, he called out Brother Devon and he came out with a glass table. In one of the more gruesome scenes in wrestling history, Brother Ray with the help of Devon and Devine, power bombed Cage through the glass table. With glass shattered everywhere and Cage laid out, it looked as if Brother Ray had made good on his promise.
In the back, Borash was interviewing Nash on his big match with Booker T for later in the night. The interview didnt get very far before it was interrupted by TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe. Once again the champ and Nash exchange words. As the tension continued to rise between them Nash promised that he would show Joe that it is a mental game and not a physical one tonight.
It was time for Awesome Kong to continue to her open challenge to the fans. In a quick showing she made this weeks fan, Danielle, look like a rag doll as she tossed her around the ring. However, Kong was not done. Last weeks opponent Taylor had come back and she was looking for more of Kong. Climbing over the rail and into the ring, the two had to be separated by security. After which Taylor begged TNA management, Jim Cornette for a match against Raisha Saeed. Saying, if she beat Saeed she would get another chance at Kong. The ball was squarely placed in Cornettes corner and it will be interesting to see what he decides to do.
It was time for the next match in the World X Cup tournament. However, before the teams could be introduced, out came mixed martial arts fighter and TNA analyst, Frank Trigg. He went in the ring and called out AJ Styles after having been jumped from behind by him last week. In the back, Karen is telling AJ just to ignore it. AJ a man of pride would do no such thing and made his way out to the ring. Unfortunately for Karen it had all been a set up organized by Kurt. Once AJ had made his way to the ring, Trigg began climbing out of the ropes and smiling. Suddenly, cameras tuned into AJs locker room where Kurt and the Beautiful People were attacking Karen. Angelina Love and Velvet Sky shoved Karen down and gave her the brown bag special. All this was going on while Kurt was yelling at Karen for what she has done.
Now it really was time for the World X Cup match between Team Japan and Team Mexico. In a match that had everything from strength, to speed, to high flying moves, it was Team Mexico that picked up the win. They were now tied with Team TNA as all teams would head into singles action next week on iMPACT!
In the back, Lauren was interviewing Black Machismo Jay Lethal and So Cal Val. Jay was talking about how hard on him this was because Sonjay Dutt had been his best friend. To make matters worse, Val dropped a huge bomb on him saying after all that had happened she needed more time and wasnt ready to get married yet. This news came as a huge shock to Lethal.
In the ring The Guru Sonjay Dutt and his guruites had come out. Dutt got the crowd to start a set Val free chant. This is because he claimed that Jay was holding Val down and that she really loved him, the Guru. Before he could finish, Val had come out and was yelling at him about ruining her wedding. No sooner had this begun, than Lethal also came running down and began attacking Dutt. Once again Dutt escaped. Sooner or later Jay is going to get his hands on Dutt and when he does, it probablly wont be pretty.
In the back Booker T was showing off his lavish new locker room to Jeremey Borash. He then goes on to tell JB that it is because of him, Booker T, that TNA is as great as it is. He also promises to show Nash why he is better than him tonight.
In the back Tomko and Kurt are talking when Team 3D strolls up. Brother Ray proceeds to tell Kurt that he is an Olympic gold medalist and that he should be eating filet mignon and drinking champagne. Not chopped beef and 45s. He said by being with Karen he is settling for less. Brother Ray then promised to set Angle up on some blind dates next week that will put Karen to shame.
In the first ever Knockouts Bimbo Brawl, it was ODB taking on Moose. In a back and forth match that saw both ladies take tons of punishment from the many different weapons they had brought to the ring, it was Moose who picked up the win after DDTing ODB onto a steel chair.
It was now time for the big show down between Booker T and Kevin Nash. From the very start Nash was taking Booker to school. Shortly into the match, Joe came out and set up a chair at ringside. Eventually the action spilled out of the ring and Booker used that to his advantage. Having turned the tide on Nash, he went and tried to get the chair Joe was sitting in. When Joe refused to give it up, Booker shoved him to the ground and then hit him with the chair. He then uses the chair on Nash. The referee could do nothing because the match was a no DQ one. When it looked like Booker had things under control after several chair shots to Nash, Joe made his presence felt. Getting in the ring and attacking Booker he knocked him down. As Booker was getting up, Joe was setting up for a super Kick. At the last second Booker moves and Joe kicks Nash in the face accidentally. This allows Booker to get the win. After the match Booker is looking on and smiling as Nash and Joe have to be separated by security.
It is obvious that Booker is using the mental game to his advantage and that Joe is falling victim to it. Tune in next week to see what happens next as both men prepare for their Heavyweight Title match showdown at Victory Road on July 13th. If you missed iMPACT! this week dont worry. Check out the replay Saturday night on Spike TV. Check local listings for times.
