Jericho on Why He's Only Working WWE Live Events

Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/03/2015 at 09:34 PM

Chris Jericho recently spoke with Bob Kapur of Slam Wrestling. The full interview is available at this link. Below are some highlights:

Working just WWE live events on the upcoming run:
"I'm going back in January and February to just do live events -- no TV, just house shows. (To do only live events) was my choice. I had some time off (between Fozzy tours), and I thought it would be fun to go back (on that schedule). It's like I'm the anti-Brock Lesnar."

    His wrestling career:
"I know that some fans would like to just seem me wrestle until I explode in a puff of dust -- that won't happen. I think everybody knows that wrestling is less and less of my life, and that my days of being a full-time wrestler (are over). But as long as I feel that I can still contribute, and can still perform at the highest level that I've set for myself, then I'll go back from time to time."

Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/03/2015 at 01:25 PM

We noted earlier this week that Rey Mysterio told fans on Twitter that he would see them "soon."

Then it was reported today that there are rumors of WWE possibly granting Rey his release after it was expected that he was returning.

Chavo Guerrero fueled those rumors with a tweet that teases a possible Mysterio vs. Guerrero feud in the Lucha Underground promotion. Chavo wrote "soon!!" in response to a fan

WWE Veteran Possibly Being Done with the Company

WWE Veteran Possibly Being Done with the Company
Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/03/2015 at 12:18 PM

    - There have been rumors within WWE that the company is close to granting Rey Mysterio his release. The rumor goes that Rey could be free from WWE before WrestleMania 31 but it has not been confirmed.

The latest word on Mysterio's WWE status came from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter in December and it was noted that WWE creative was supposed to come up with a storyline for Rey that would have ran from Survivor Series up to WrestleMania 31 but that was nixed for some reason. Before that, it was reported that Vince McMahon had eased up on some of Mysterio's demands and that the company was ready to bring him back to TV.

    Jeff Jarrett Negotiating with AAA
Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/03/2015 at 11:17 AM

Jeff Jarrett is reportedly in talks with Mexico's AAA promotion to bring them to traditional pay-per-view, co-branded by Global Force Wrestling, according to PWInsider. The deal would be very similar to what Jarrett and GFW have done with this weekend's New Japan Pro Wrestling WrestleKingdom 9 event.

    Gail Kim's TNA Status
i've read this and i really hope they give the first knockout champ the propper respect by giving her a decent extension - Gail Kim is said to be working with TNA on a per-event deal instead of having a new deal signed, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. She's expected for the New York City tapings next week and is committed for the upcoming UK tour.

Paige Talks About Relationship with AJ Lee
Paige Talks About Relationship with AJ Lee

Posted by Steve Carrier on 01/01/2015 at 08:59 AM

Paige recently spoke with Scott Fishman of The Miami Herald to promote the return of WWE Total Divas on Sunday. The full interview is available at this link. Below are some highlights:

Why officials wanted her on Total Divas:
"That’s the thing about ‘Total Divas’ because you don’t expect me on it; so it brings something new to the table. That’s pretty much why they wanted me on it in the first place. They wanted me a while back. At first, I was like, ‘No.’ It was wrestling, wrestling, wrestling. After a while, I spoke to my family about it. Then when the opportunity came again, it was like, ‘You know what. Yes. I’m going to do it.’ It was an opportunity I didn’t want to regret later on. These are girls I work with all the time, and they are great people. So I thought, ‘Why wouldn’t I want to work with them on a reality show, too?’ The only thing I was worried about is that I shut off from my personal life. I’m not good at opening up with people. It took me a while on the show to do it, but when you see it you will say, ‘Okay. That’s the reason why.’"

What to expect from her on the show:
"You’re going to see me be very blunt with people. You’ll see me have some kind of confrontation, whether it be physical or verbally. You’ll see me make terrible decisions. You know what though; that’s me. I just like people can see it. They can see I am completely different than the rest of the girls. I change the whole dynamic. You’ll see me open up. I’m going to share a lot, which I never do. I’m going to share a lot of my background and a past relationship. You’ll see a lot of that, but then you’ll also see the crazy stuff I’m up to because I try to make the most out of my days off. When we are home, you run errands typically. But I’m like, ‘No, I’m going to do this or that.’ I’m a little bit of an adrenaline junky. I’m doing a lot of crazy stuff, and I drag Foxy [Alicia Fox] and Rosy [Rosa Mendes] along for the ride."

    Her relationship with AJ Lee:
"She is actually one of my best friends. She knew I was coming up, and this was my debut. Here is me, this girl from NXT that wins the championship on her first day. AJ was so sweet and so humble, and she helped me every step of the way. She was incredibly nice. She gave me tips. Before she went away for a little bit, she told me what to do and how to react. She helped me with promos. I would go to her and say, ‘Hey, what do you think about this?’ Then she would say, ‘That’s good, but what if you did it this way?’ She is so helpful. We travel together. I’m so lucky to have her and work with her. She has always been this different diva, kind of like the anti-diva. I really looked up to her. I’m happy to have had a storyline with her.’"

Backstage News on Why WWE Suspended Kevin Nash
News on Why WWE Suspended Kevin Nash
Posted by Steve Carrier on 12/31/2014 at 05:52 PM

As noted, WWE suspended the Legends contract of Kevin Nash while he has an outstanding domestic case for the incident with his son last week.

Nash was suspended due to the company policy of suspending any talent or front office employee that gets domestic violence charges. If the case is dismissed in court, Nash will be reinstated by WWE. Nash still has a few years left on the contract as he signed a five-year Legends deal back in 2011.

Nash has also been confirmed to be pulled from the RAW Reunion special on January 19th from Dallas. He was scheduled to do a nWo reunion angle with Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan.

Rob Terry has been moved from the TNA roster page to the Alumni section, so it appears that he is done with the company.

Also, The Menagerie profile has no mention of him in as part of their faction, and the group is now regarded as a three-person unit.

JEFF JARRETT ON TNA HALL OF FAME SNUB

Happy New Year to all! Earlier this week myself and wrestling manager Titus Machiavelli welcomed TNA & Global Force Wrestling Founder Jeff Jarrett on our show which you can check out by clicking here.  As many of you know Jeff has been on full media blitz promoting Wrestle Kingdom 9 being presented by his company this Sunday but we managed to ask him some TNA questions in between. Here’s a few highlights:

The RCWR Show: You know, something that’s been a hot topic among hardcore TNA fans over the years has been you and your father (Jerry Jarrett) getting inducted in the TNA Hall of Fame. Ever since it came to fruition back in 2012, fans have been waiting patiently to hear you and your father’s names announced. Now with all due respect to Sting, Kurt Angle, and Team 3D, many including ourselves have noted that there wouldn’t be a TNA without you and your father and guys like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Bobby Roode, just to name a few. In the past, your wife Karen has taken to Twitter and she’s actually retweeted anyone who advocated for you being in the TNA Hall of Fame. Two-part question for you.  In your eyes, will the TNA Hall of Fame’s legitimacy always be questionable if you and your father aren’t inducted and number two, how much would it mean to you to be acknowledged by TNA and placed in their Hall of Fame? After all, you and your father founded the company.

Jeff Jarrett: Well, the short answer is like I said, about this time last year, I closed the chapter on this book of TNA wrestling. I moved on very excited, have zero regrets about my time there, very grateful and blessed and thankful for my 12 years there. But it was time for me and my family to move on. And so you know, the powers that be at TNA, they choose who they want to choose and more power to them and if that’s their decision and if they believe that’s truly what’s best for TNA business and TNA entertainment, God bless ‘em. I moved on and let that sleeping dog lie.

The RCWR Show: With regards to Vince Russo, Jim Cornette, and Dutch Mantel, (aka WWE’s Zeb Colter), according to Cornette and Russo, Jim and Dutch did not get along with Russo. How were you able to make it all work and why do you think TNA was so successful during what many had described for that time period being in turmoil?

Jeff Jarrett: The wrestling business has many, many many different philosophies and Dutch has said it on a number of times that he didn’t have anything personally. There was nothing personal that he had a difference with Vince, but on a professional level and a philosophical level, they were on the opposite ends of the spectrum. I wanted to bring different though processes, different minds, different creative thoughts and visions, all in a room and leave that room with one direction. And we were successful, or I was successful some of the time, not all the time. Jim and Dutch, you know, they got a lifetime of experience with multiple different styles and territories and you know? Jim from the Crocketts, my father’s territory,  Dutch from Puerto Rico andall across US. Vince (Russo) came from New York and he only worked for the WWF and then WCW for a brief stint so they come from different backgrounds, different mindsets, and so you know, I don’t know if I’m specifically answering the guy’s question, but me, I like to take a little bit of everybody’s thought processes and meld it into one cohesive vision.

The RCWR Show: If the opportunity presented itself would you be willing to work with Vince Russo again? I believe right now Russo is doing some stuff for a promotion now in the UK. I think it’s Pro Wrestling United Kingdom.

Jeff Jarrett: So at this time, I’m not discussing any of those personnel matters again. I’m not going to change the focus. But I’m happy for Vince, let Vince go do his thing. At Global Force, we’re focused on what we’re doing right now. I don’t foresee that happening in the future.

There’s a lot more contained in this interview. Highly recommend you all check it out as we’ve been receiving great praise for the type of questions we asked him. Check it out down below or on Stitcher by clicking here.
