    WWE SmackDown Results - 3/29/13
Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen WWE SmackDown Results - 3/29/13

Smackdown opens with a video hyping the return of the WWE Champion, The Rock, to the blue brand. It transitions into highlights of the feuds between Jack Swagger and Alberto Del Rio, as well as The Shield and Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show.

We go into the arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania and The Rock’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. The Rock takes us back a month and helps us remember “Story Time with The Rock,” and then he continues on with the story and talks about how he was fifteen and living in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He does the “Finally” bit and mentions how he came up with the catchphrase “Kicking your candy ass.” He says he will beat John Cena at WrestleMania. He says he kicked Cena’s candy ass on Raw, and he will do it again in front of the millions (and millions) at WrestleMania, before John Laurinaitis’ music hits and he interrupts The Rock as we go to a commercial.

We’re back and The Rock asks Johnny who he is. Johnny says everyone knows who he is, and introduces himself to The Rock. The Rock says he doesn’t care, but Johnny says Teddy Long gave him permission to come speak to him. Johnny says The Rock is the People’s Champion, and he created People Power. Johnny says John Cena is the reason he got fired, and is now the reason he is back. Laurinaitis offers to be in The Rock’s corner at WrestleMania. Laurinaitis says there is no way Cena will beat The Rock if he is in his corner. The Rock asks the people if they want Laurinaitis in his corner, and they say no. The Rock says they can send Cena a message together, though. Laurinaitis says he likes that. They shake hands, but The Rock won’t let Laurinaitis go. The Rock drops him with a spinebuster and a People’s Elbow and ends with “If you smell what The Rock is cooking.”

We see that Sheamus, Randy Orton, and The Big Show will take on Antonio Cesaro and Team Rhodes Scholars later tonight, and are reminded that Ryback and Mark Henry will be in a Bench Press Challenge later tonight.

    Chris Jericho vs. Wade Barrett

he Miz is on commentary for the match. They tie up and Barrett gets Jericho in a headlock. Jericho sends him off the ropes, but Barrett takes him down with a shoulder block. Jericho comes back and takes advantage and sends Barrett to the floor. Jericho connects with a baseball slide and tosses Barrett back into the ring. Jericho delivers a stiff kick, but Barrett comes back and pummels Jericho in the corner. Barrett elevates Jericho to the apron, but Jericho connects with a right hand. Jericho goes up top, but Barrett knocks him down to the floor as we go to a commercial.

We’re back and Barrett is in control. Jericho delivers some elbow shots and takes Barrett down with a couple of shoulder tackles. Jericho goes up top and sledges Barrett down to the mat. Jericho goes for the Lionsault, but Barrett moves. Barrett takes Jericho down with the Winds of Change, but Jericho kicks out at two. Jericho comes back and hits a cross-body for a two count. Jericho catches Barrett and goes for the Walls of Jericho, but Barrett fights out. Barrett charges at Jericho, but Jericho tosses him over the top rope. Jericho goes up top again, but Barrett catches him and knocks him to the floor. Barrett and The Miz mouth each other, and Barrett gets back into the ring and gets caught with the Codebreaker. Jericho gets the pin fall.

    Winner: Chris Jericho

After the match, Jericho says he would like to savor this victory with all of the fans, but he notices Fandango’s entrance is set up. Jericho butchers Fandango’s name a lot of times before Fandango finally comes to the stage. Fandango and his dancing partner walk towards the ring, but Jericho gets on the apron and invites him in. Fandango backs away and leaves with his dancing partner.

We see that will take a look at the No Holds Barred Match between Brock Lesnar and Triple H, as well as get an interview with Paul Heyman after the commercial break.

We’re back and we take a look at the happenings in the feud between Brock Lesnar and Triple H. We see and exclusive interview with Paul Heyman. Heyman says when Lesnar destroys him at WrestleMania, all Triple H will be able to do is watch the wrestlers from his office, because he will never be able to again. Heyman says people will hate Triple H when that happens. Heyman says Triple H is no match for he or Brock Lesnar.

We see that the Bench Press Challenge between Ryback and Mark Henry is up next.

We are back and Booker T and Teddy Long are on the stage for the Bench Press Challenge. Booker brings out Ryback, tries to introduce Mark Henry, but Teddy Long interrupts and introduces Henry himself. Henry and Ryback get in each others faces, but Booker stops them. Booker tells Ryback to go first, but Teddy interrupts and said they flipped a coin and Henry goes first. They play up that the record is 51 repetitions. Henry breaks the record with 53 reps. Ryback goes next, and gets to 53 before Henry shoves the bench press bar down onto Ryback’s throat. Ryback collapses on the stage and gets helped to his feet as we go to commercial.

Mixed Tag Team Match: Daniel Bryan and Kaitlyn vs. Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee
Bryan and Ziggler tie up, and Ziggler takes Bryan to the mat. Bryan comes back and works on Ziggler’s arm before Kaitlyn tags in. AJ takes Kaitlyn down with a neck-breaker and gets a two count. AJ kicks Kaitlyn away, but Kaitlyn takes her down with a shoulder block. Kaitlyn tags in Bryan. Ziggler and Bryan go up top, and Bryan takes Ziggler down with a hurricanrana, but Ziggler rolls through and gets a two count. Langston provides a distraction, and Ziggler gets a two count on Bryan. Kane takes Langston down, and Ziggler baseball slides Kane. Ziggler tags in AJ. AJ takes Kaitlyn down in the ring and goes to the outside. AJ gets back into the ring, only to get a Spear from Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn gets the pin fall.

    Winners: Kaitlyn and Daniel Bryan.

We go backstage and we see The Shield. The members of The Shield says Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show will fail at WrestleMania. They say Orton’s team will implode. The Shield says the final chapter will be written by them at WrestleMania, and everyone will believe in The Shield.

Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter) vs. The Great Khali (w/Hornswoggle and Natalya)

Khali shoves Swagger into the corner. They tie up again and Khali takes Swagger to the corner. Khali tries to chop Swagger, but Swagger reverses. Swagger comes off the ropes, but Khali clubs him to the mat. Khali gets Swagger to the corner and finally chops Swagger. Khali delivers another chop, but Swagger kicks him in the knee and delivers high knees to the midsection. Swagger backs away and charges, but Khali delivers a big boot. Khali takes Swagger down with a series of clotheslines and goes for the Khali Chop, but Swagger rolls out of the ring. Khali tries to come out after him, but Swagger drapes Khali’s leg over the top rope. Swagger takes out Khali’s leg and Khali rolls to the outside. Swagger goes out after him and goes for the Patriot Lock, but Khali kicks him away before Swagger finally locks it in as the referee counts both men out.

    Match Result: Double Count-out.

After the match, Swagger slams Hornswoggle into the barricade. Ricardo Rodriguez tells Swagger to attack him again, but Alberto Del Rio attacks Swagger from behind. Del Rio locks in the cross arm-breaker and Rodriguez nails Colter with one of his crutches. Rodriguez tosses the crutch to Del Rio, who swings it at Swagger. Swagger ducks and gets out of the ring. Swagger and Colter retreat up the ramp as Del Rio tells Swagger to come back and fight.

We take a look at the Raw Rebound, which focuses on the feud between CM Punk and The Undertaker.

We go backstage where a new interviewer is with Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show. We take a look back to Monday night when they finally joined together against The Shield. Orton says they have a common enemy and Sheamus says they all know they need to be on the same page. Sheamus and Show argue a little bit, but Orton calms them down again.

Six-Man Tag Team Match: Antonio Cesaro and Team Rhodes Scholars vs. Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show

Sheamus and Cesaro are in the ring and trade the offense back and forth. Sheamus tags in Show and Cesaro tags in Rhodes. Show tags Rhodes back into the corner and then slams him to the mat as we go to a commercial.

We’re back and Cesaro and Orton are battling it out. Cesaro is in control and takes Orton down to the mat. Cesaro tags in Sandow. Sandow comes into the ring and keeps control. Sandow hits the Cobito Acquiet on Orton and gets a two count. Orton comes back on the offensive and hits a clothesline. Orton delivers a back-breaker. Show runs over and knocks Cesaro off the apron as Orton tags Sheamus and Sandow tags Rhodes. Sheamus catches Rhodes on the apron and delivers the vintage ten clubbing shots. Sheamus then delivers the ten clubs to Sandow and Rhodes attacks him from behind. Sheamus grabs Rhodes and delivers White Noise. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Sandow gets into the ring. Show KO Punches Rhodes and tosses Sandow into an RKO. Sheamus delivers the Brogue Kick to Rhodes and gets the pin fall.

Winners: Sheamus, Randy Orton, and Sheamus

After the match, The Shield’s music hits and they begin to descend from the crowd. Before they can, Sheamus, Orton, and Show go after them in the crowd. Sheamus, Orton, and Show dominate The Shield and sends them scrambling. Orton, Sheamus, and Show stand high over the WWE Universe as Smackdown comes to a close.

Impact Wrestling starts out with a video package recapping the whole Aces & 8s story. Ray called Hulk out and told him to fire the group. Hulk had another plan. He sent out an army… the TNA army. That was no match for Aces & 8s. Hulk, last week, said he needed the TNA World Title back to TNA. A Fatal Four Way Match was made. Jeff Hardy won and is the #1 Contender. Can he get the belt back? How will Bully react to his first challenger?

The camera shows the arena at Jonesboro and it looks huge! They are standing on their feet. Music hits and here comes Jeff Hardy! Jeff interacts with the fans from the ramp and then goes around the ring to meet them. The fans are going crazy. He gets in the ring and taunts from the corners. Hardy looks around at the fans as he has a mic in his hand. He says, “Hello creatures!” Last week, Hardy wasn’t 100%. He isn’t 100% right now, but he is better. He tested himself against Kurt Angle, Magnus, and Samoa Joe and he is #1 Contender! It is also Open Fight Night! Jeff has to call somebody out. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! Here comes Aces & 8s through the crowd. Bully leads the faction with Devon close by. Ray tells the fans to sit down and shut their mouths. They boo him. Ray is sick and tired of Jeff’s voice. He is tired of Jeff bi%ch and moan. Do you know who we are? The group makes their way to ringside. Ray is on the steel steps. Ray tells Hardy that they are The Aces & 8s. Does Jeff want to call Ray out? Why does he want to call him out? This title wouldn’t be on the line and he doesn’t want to see anything bad happen to Jeff in front of his moan creatures. Ray is on the apron now. Mr. Anderson gets on the apron too. He asks Bully if this guy is going to get another second chance? This guy is getting another second chance. No way! Anderson says this guy gets second chance after five chance and so on! Remember all of the free passes Anderson and Bully got? No? They didn’t because they don’t need free passes. As long as Jeff doesn’t burn buildings down… as long as he sells the merchandise… he is excused. Anderson calls Jeff a disappointment. Jeff lost to Ray. Jeff will be another disappointment in Corpus Christi. Jeff had enough. He knocks Anderson off the apron. Aces flock in and attack Jeff to the mat. Ray gets in and calls the shots. They hold him and D-Lo takes shots. Ken gets in and punches Jeff. Bully takes his chain out and starts swinging. All of a sudden, Team TNA! Kurt, Magnus, Joe, and Young run into the ring and fight Aces off. They leave the ring. Ray tells Aces to “Not worry about it.” Jeff gets up and grabs a mic. He calls out Mr. Anderson. Tonight, they will battle!

Video plays showing the tag team match of Austin Aries and Bobby Roode vs. Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez. Daniels and Kaz interfered. Aries and Roode retained. Influence then attacked the tag champions.

Chavo and Hernandez are walking in the back. Chavo doesn’t understand how they lost. Hernandez says it was Daniels and Kaz. He then mentions it is Open Fight Night. Oh, they are going to get their payback.

Music hits and here comes Chavo and Hernandez to the ring.

    -Commercial

Chavo has a mic and gets the crowd fired up by asking them how they are doing. Not to cry over spilled milk… but they were robbed. They were cheated out of the tag titles. Not by Aries and Roode, but by someone else. Tonight is about payback. It is Open Fight Night, holmes! They went to Hulk and he added a stipulation. That is, whoever wins will be the #1 Contenders for the TNA Tag Titles. Come on Bad Influence! We are going to kiss your @ss all over here.

Music hits and here comes Kaz-amania and Daniels. Daniels dances his way to the ring and Kaz struts right behind him.

Chavo and Hernadnez vs. Bad Influence to determine the #1 Contenders for the TNA Tag Team Titles

Kaz and Chavo meet in the middle of the ring and Kaz pushes Chavo back to the corner. Kaz backs up, but Chavo does a hiptoss. Chavo continues with the attack as he tags Hernandez. He gets in and body slams Chavo on Kaz. Hernandez continues to attack Kaz, but he gets away and tags Daniels. Hernandez takes Daniels right down to the mat as soon as he gets in. He tags Chavo. They double team Daniels. Daniels backs up in the corner and tells Chavo to get away. Chavo goes toward him and punches him in the face. He whips him in the ropes, but Daniels reverses it. Daniels runs to him, but Chavo lifts him up. Daniels falls right on the outside hitting the back of his head on a beam. Chavo runs in the opposite direction, but Kaz takes him out by lifting the ropes. Kaz enters and here comes Hernandez. Chavo enters and they take Influence down as Daniels gets back in. Chavo and Hernandez meet on the entrance ramp. They fly over the ropes and land on both Kaz and Daniels. Chavo and Daniels are the legal men. Hernandez and Kaz slowly leave the ring as Daniels takes control of the match. He sends Chavo in the corner face first and then hits a stunner/chinbreaker.

    -Commercial

Kaz has Chavo down and puts his foot on his torso for a cover. Chavo kicks out. Kaz starts dancing and then gets Chavo up. He twists his arm. Kaz knocks Chavo down. Daniels enters by jumping over the ropes and stomping on his gut. Kaz jumps over the ropes and hits a leg drop. Kaz covers but Chavo kickso ut. Kaz applies a headlock, but Chavo gets out of it. Kaz whips him in the ropes, but Chavo comes back with a hurricanrona. Kaz quickly tags Daniels. Chavo gets up and takes Daniels down. Kaz enters and Chavo takes him down too. He tags Hernandez. Hernandez takes down the same stars and then whips both in the same corner. He runs and does a big splash. Chavo hits the splash in the corner too. Hernandez gets Daniels on his shoulder. Chavo does a suplex to Kaz, but Kaz lands on Hernandez other shoulder. He drops them down. He covers Daniels but he kicks out. Daniels gets up and takes control. He knocks Hernandez down and covers. Kaz holds the legs of his so he can’t kick out but the referee sees. Daniels gets Hernandez up, but Hernandez comes back with a kick in the gut and then a powerbomb. He tags Chavo. Chavo climbs the corner. Kaz runs to him and pushes him off the corner. Daniels covers him but he kicks out. Kaz turns around as he is on the ramp. Hernadnez is behind him and does a battering ram. Kaz falls off into the steel guard rail. Daniels sets Chavo up for the Angel Wings, but he turns and Hernandez jumps over the ropes and takes Daniels down. Chavo climbs the corner and hits the Frog Splash!

Winner and #1 Contenders for the TNA Tag Team Titles: Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez

They celebrate in the ring as their music plays.

The camera is backstage showing a door that has “Women” on it. Taryn Terrell comes out covering her chest. She says it is Open Fight Night and knows who she is going to call out and she knows what she might wear. She closes the door as she goes back to her room.

    -Commercial

A little Impact Insta-fact shot is shown on the screen saying that this year’s Lockdown PPV had the largest crowd in TNA history.

A video plays from last week where Brooke Hogan fired and then hired Taryn Terrell. She was a referee but is now an active wrestler!

Taryn Terrell’s music plays and she makes her way down the ramp. She gets in the ring and grabs a mic. She is quite excited. This is her first night as a Knockout. Time to get physical. She can fight whoever she wants. There has been someone who insulted her and mocked her. She is calling out Gail Kim. Kim’s music plays. Taryn continues to call her out. Gail can’t be scared of her. Kim finally comes out and slowly walks down the ramp. She doesn’t look scared. Gail walks off the ramp and around the ring. She asks for a mic. She gets one. She gets in the ring. First off, rookie mistake, Taryn. She is going to call out the best female wrestler that ever lived? Do you really want to embarrass yourself on national TV? Not only did Taryn rub Gail the wrong way… she also rubbed others the wrong way. This person wanted to call Taryn out. This person is a former Knockout Champion. It’s Tara! Tara’s music plays. Jesse is at her side. Tara says she is going to snap her in half. Taryn looks at her. Gail attacks her from behind in the head. Taryn falls to the mat. Tara gets in and joins in on the attack. Gail holds Taryn from behind and Tara kicks her. Music plays and here comes Velvet Sky! Sky runs to the ring. She fights Tara and then Gail. She closelines both of them down. She knocks Tara out of the ring and Gail slides out before Sky could touch her again. Sky’s music hits again as she helps Taryn. Tara, Gail, and Jesse meet on the ramp. They walk backwards away from the ring.

    - Commercial

Sky and Taryn are backstage. Sky tells it how it is with Tara and Gail. Sky was attacked by them before. She knows how it feels. She wanted to help out. Taryn starts walking away. She runs around the corner and attacks Tara and Gail as they are walking down the hall. Sky enters and tries to hold Taryn, but she continues fighting.

A Gutcheck video plays. It shows people who were part of the challenge. Do you have the chance? Do you want the opportunity? They all fought for their spot on the TNA roster. You are shown in the ring, on the camera, and on the mic. The ultimate opportunity is closer than you think. It returns next week!

Jeremy Borash is backstage. He introduces Adam Pierce and Magno. These two guys will face off next week. They meet face to face. Who will win?

Sting is walking backstage. He goes to Hulk’s office. There is a guy who stops him. He says Hulk doesn’t want him nearby. Really? Sting’s frustration grew. He knows the guy is dong his job, but he is going to have to find another way. He is getting to that level!!

    -Commercial

Video plays that aired earlier tonight where Aces attacked Jeff Hardy, but Team TNA ran to the scene. Jeff made his match with Anderson for later tonight.

Hulk Hogan is backstage in his office. He is talking to Jeff. He tells Jeff that he made his rematch for April 11. If Jeff stood up and beat 3 men, he is willing to fight for this company. He handpicked Bully and cost Jeff the title. He is sorry. Jeff says that is fine. Jeff made many mistakes. Everyone does, but he lives for the present. Jeff will get it back. Hulk tells him to handpick his stipulation for the match. Jeff can’t refuse that. Music plays in the background. It’s Sting’s. Hulk notices and gets up. He says Sting shouldn’t be here.

Sting gets in the ring and grabs a mic. Sting says Bully swerved the whole world. He swerved him. He told Hogan he can trust Bully, but he was wrong. He was all wrong. He needs to be on the same page with someone though to fix it. He is trying to get on the same page, but the guy won’t talk. That’s Hulk Hogan. Since it is Open Fight Night, he is calling him out! Silence roams for a couple seconds, but music plays and it’s Hogan! Hulk comes out with a crutch. He drops it though and continues down the ramp. Hogan isn’t happy. Hogan gets in the ring and walks around Sting. He has a mic.

Sting tells Hogan that he tried to apologize but Hogan didn’t listen. Sting will try again. This will be his third and if he doesn’t accept, things may go nuclear. Hogan told Sting that he soft-shooted the whole thing. Hogan should have followed his gut. Everyone in the company, Dixie and Sting included, went on their way. They wanted to help the relationship with Hulk and Brooke. He made a decision that that ruined this company. He listened to Sting. Sting tells Hogan that he said it. Hogan said he made the decision. Stop pointing fingers. Take accountable. Hogan says he will take credit that he walked Brooke down the aisle and he picked Ray to fight, but he is tired of it. He made the decision. He is tired of Sting and him talking, so get the hell out of my ring, brother! Sting stares at him and then turns. He turns around in Hogan’s face and says, “Make me.” Hogan and Sting drop the mic. Hogan rips his shirt, but guards come out and stop Sting. They push him back. Hogan starts yelling at him. Sting is against the ropes. The guards tell him to go. He leaves the ring and walks backwards up the ramp. Hogan continues to point his figure and yell. Sting grabs the crutch that Hogan left on the ramp. He drops it and continues his way back. He says, “Soon enough” before going through the curtain. Sting walks backstage. The camera follows him as well as the guards.

    -Commercial

A video replay shows the Hogan and Sting segment that just occurred.

During the break, cameras were rolling. Sting was walking backstage. Matt Morgan pops out and starts clapping. He calls Sting another Hogan mistake. Sting stops, makes fists with his hands and then let’s them go. Sting continues to walk away.

Mike Tenay, Taz, and Todd Keneley are shown at the commentator’s desk. A video plays talking about AJ Styles. AJ had a bad year or two. He can’t get a TNA World Title match till Bound for Glory. AJ will do his things his way. Taz tries to invite AJ into Aces, but James stops AJ and tells him to straighten up or he will knock his teeth down his throat. AJ has nothing to say.

Music hits and here comes James Storm. He gets in the ring with his cowboy hat and trench coat. He grabs a mic. Two weeks ago, AJ made his big return. It wasn’t the return he was looking for though. Last week, he (Storm) tried to talk to AJ, but he just walked off. Since tonight is Open Fight Night, he thought he would take the time to call out AJ Styles. The crowd claps. Storm stands in the ring and waits. He looks at the referee and he shrugs his shoulders. Storm looks around at the fans. He sees AJ standing on the top of the stairs of a section in the crowd. Storm knows AJ’s head is messed up. Storm was going through the same thing, but he picked himself up. He tells AJ that he needs to do that. There are two ways James tells AJ to do this. They can drink and talk about it in this hand or the other hand is where he will close it to make a fist and fight about it. Either way… the choice is AJ’s! Storm waits. Here comes Wes, Garett, and Doc. They enter the ring and knock Storm down. They put him in the corner and attack him. AJ walks away. Eric Young’s music plays and he runs in the ring. He tries to fight, but they knock him down. Aces still have the upper hand. Kurt’s music hits and he gets in the ring. He attacks Doc. The others come back. Wes and Garett leave the ring. They meet Doc. Kurt gets on the mic. He tells them that they should never run away from him. Shut up and look at him when he talks. They have three and there are three in the ring. Let’s make it a 6 man tag! Aces walk around the ring to get in the corner.

Kurt Angle, James Storm, and Eric Young vs. Aces & 8s (Doc, Wes Brisco, and Garett Bischoff)

Garett and James start. They lock-up but Storm throws Garett in the ropes. He holds onto the ropes. James kicks him in the gut and then whips him in the ropes again. He knocks him down. He brings Garett in the corner. He kicks him in the gut. He brings him to the center of the ring. James tags Young. He enters. They double team Garett. Bischoff is down and Young covers. Ray takes the title and leaves with Ken through the crowd. Jeff has a mic. He has made up his mind. It will be tables, ladders, chairs, stairs… Corpus Christi… Full Metal Mayhem! WWE Spoils SmackDown Segment with Ryback & Henry
Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/27/2013 at 09:00 AM

    - As we've noted, Mark Henry and Ryback competed in a weight-lifting competition at last night's SmackDown tapings to hype their WrestleMania 29 match.

WWE's website has spoiled the segment and announced that Henry and Ryback broke the NFL record for 225-pound bench press with 53 repetitions each. The previous record of 51 reps was set by Justin Ernest at the 1999 NFL Combine.

WWE also revealed that before Ryback could break the new record with 54 reps, Henry attacked him and pushed the bar down on his neck.

Update on Heat with Former Divas

    - We've noted before how WWE was in negotiations with former Divas to return at WrestleMania 29 but we likely won't see any returns because the two sides couldn't agree on contracts. It was reported that some Divas in WWE pushed for Maria Kanellis to be taken out of the WrestleMania match plans. Word now is that the former Divas who were in negotiations to return are the ones that pushed for Maria to be taken out of the plans. No word yet on which Diva requested it but apparently they were upset at some comments she made after leaving WWE.

In an update to an earlier post, TNA Knockout Madison Rayne and her husband has revealed the gender of their child. The couple is expecting a baby girl. We also noted here that Madison may be returning to Impact after having her child, opposed to retiring. Madison has said that she will return to the company if their is still a place for her. She teased that she would like to hold the role 'Knockout VP Incharge', which is currently held by Brooke Hogan. Madison breifly held the role in 2011, before being demoted by the then General Manager Sting.

One again congratulations to the happy couple!

More on Ric Flair Being Hospitalized Today
More on Ric Flair Being Hospitalized Today

    - As noted earlier, Ric Flair had to leave RAW this evening and was briefly hospitalized before heading home to a hospital in Charlotte. Flair was sent to the hospital for complications from a blood clot. Flair didn't wrestle for All Japan back in January due to a blood clot in his leg.

WWE medical staff took a look at Flair's leg this afternoon and immediately made the decision to pull him off the show and send him to the hospital. Flair was examined at the hospital and advised to return home to Charlotte for further treatment.

Flair was scheduled for a segment with Bret Hart and Jerry Lawler that would have seen them discuss John Cena vs. The Rock at WrestleMania 29.

We have two RAWs left before Wrestlemania, and the WWE really has to step up their game. The Rock will be there tonight, so I would expect the Rock/Cena program to get the majority of the attention tonight. Sit back and enjoy!

    Heyman to Punk: TOUCHDOWN

CM Punk came out with Paul Heyman carrying the urn. Heyman threw a pass with the urn to Punk in the ring from the apron. Punk said everyone says the Undertaker can’t be beaten at Wrestlemania. They say no one can stop the Deadman. But Punk said “they” don’t know what they are talking about. But they are irrelevant. Punk said everything should have ended at last year’s Wrestlemania, with Undertaker, HHH and Shawn Michaels walking into the sunset. But Taker had to come out on Punk’s show and point at his sign. Punk said the urn means nothing to him and threw it on the ground. He said he knows he will beat The Streak and he has something Taker wants. And Taker is at a psychological disadvantage. Punk said Taker could have fought any other man and had his Streak continue, but he had to choose Punk. And Punk is the one to end the Streak. Punk said at Wrestlemania, the Undertaker’s perfect record will Rest in Peace.

Suddenly the lights went out and Taker went to town on Punk, landing multiple punches in the corner before Punk escaped with the urn.

Segment Analysis: Very strong opening. Punk made up for kind of a weak promo from last week. Punk sounds confident when he speaks about breaking The Streak. And Taker, in the limited time he was out there, looked good and in wrestling shape. Of course, there is a difference between landing some punches and working a 20 minute match, but it looked promising. Survey Says: 4/5

Oh NOW You Want To Build The Undercard Of Wrestlemania

Fandango came out for a match, but Chris Jericho came out and jumped him. Jericho got the upper hand and Fandango bailed. Great way to give heat to a match that needed it.

Dolph Ziggler came out for a match against Chris Jericho. Jericho had the upper hand early before Ziggler caught him with a kick to the chest. Jericho grabbed Ziggler’s legs and he went for the Walls, but Ziggler pushed him away. Ziggler caught a Y2J elbow and then a crossbody for two. Dolph had control back from break with a headlock. Jericho countered with a nearfall but got back up and ate a dropkick. Dolph hit a splash in the corner then applied an abdominal stretch. Jericho got out with a hip toss. Dolph missed a splash and Jericho went to work. He hit a top rope double axe handle then a running bulldog. Big E got on the apron and ate a Jericho dropkick, but the distraction allowed Dolph to hit a DDT for two. Jericho grabbed the ropes to block the ZigZag, and Jericho applied the Walls of Jericho. Ziggler tapped out.

After the match Big E took out Jericho with his finisher. Fandango came out after and did a brief dance over Jericho then attacked him. He hit a flying leg drop off the top rope then said his name.

Segment Analysis: Well, how do you build up to a match that had little heat in two weeks? That is how you do it. Good showing by Fandango and this little mini feud has some legs. Another strong match between Dolph and Jericho as well. Survey Says: 3.5/5

Backstage Matt Striker asked Sheamus about what happened last Friday on Smackdown. Suddenly, The Shield attacked. Randy Orton came in with a chair but was eventually stopped. Big Show finally came in to even the odds and The Shield retreated.

Mark Henry made quick work of the Usos. He hit World’s Strongest Slams on both of them and then a splash.

The Mid-Card Champ Didn’t Job? What Show Is This???

Alberto del Rio vs Antonio Cesaro. After Del Rio released an armbar, Cesaro caught Del Rio with an uppercut. Del Rio came back with some clotheslines and a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Zeb Colter came out and distracted Del Rio. Cesaro caught Del Rio with a knee then a headbutt. Del Rio crotched Cesaro on the turnbuckle then hit a superplex. Suddenly, Jack Swagger attacked Ricardo and beat on his broken ankle some more. Del Rio made the save and brawled with Swagger through the crowd. Del Rio was counted out. Del Rio attacked Cesaro and applied the crossarmbreaker after the match.

Segment Analysis: While other feuds are gaining steam headed into Wrestlemania, this one seems to be losing some. The crowd just isn’t that into ADR, and they are using Ricardo to get some sympathy heat for him. Del Rio has really dropped off as a face after a promising start. Survey Says: 2.5/5

    More A.J.? Works For Me!

Team Hell No vs the Prime Time Players. Bryan and Kane dominated O’Neil early on. Darren Young came in but Bryan and Kane hit a double hip toss. Bryan hit a handful of kicks until Dolph, Big E and A.J. came out on the ramp. Young hit a belly-to-belly on Bryan. Bryan ducked a clothesline and hit one of his own on Young then tagged in Kane. Kane hit a couple of boots to Young’s face then a sideslam for two. Titus broke up the count but then was thrown to the outside where he ate a Daniel Bryan flying knee. Kane hit a chokeslam on Young for the win.

Match Analysis: Nothing too exciting here. Match was okay. Cole calling the Tag Title “prestigious” at the end there was kind of funny. Survey Says: 2/5

    A Short HHH Promo???

After a video package Triple H came out. He said Brock Lesnar is a destroyer and can end anyone’s career in the ring. But he has had a 20 year career where he has fought every night like his life depended on it. He said he feels no pressure being backed into a corner. HHH said Brock should fight like his career is on the line. He’s not there to fight at Wrestlemania, he is there to kick Brock Lesnar’s ass. Wade Barrett came out during HHH’s exit for his match. He stared down HHH then HHH kicked him below the belt.

Segment Analysis: Short and to the point. I could live with that. But what was the point of the whole Wade Barrett thing??? That is why HHH is terrible as a face. Survey Says: 2.5/5

From One Bad Face To Another…

Miz came out to fight Wade Barrett. Miz hit a couple of atomic drops and Barrett bailed after both, still selling the effects of HHH’s kick. Barrett finally got the upper hand with a knee, then a couple of knees to the gut in the corner. Miz regained control with a backbreaker. Barrett countered the neckbreaker but Miz tossed him over the top rope. He hit an axehandle off the apron. Barrett had control back from break after tossing Miz into the apron during commercial. Barrett caught Miz with a knee. Miz started fighting back. He hit his corner clothesline then a top rope axe handle. Miz charged at Barrett but he went right into the Winds of Change slam for two. Miz went for a Figure Four but Barrett countered into a pin for two. Barrett hit a kick to the head. Miz ducked a Bullhammer elbow, and Barrett ended up crotched on the ropes. Miz applied the Figure Four, and Barrett tapped out.

Segment Analysis: Not a bad match. It seemed obvious Miz was picking up the win with what happened earlier. But similar to ADR, Miz is just not getting over as a face. I don’t get the crowd chanting “boring” during the match. It wasn’t that bad. Looks like we are getting these two again at Wrestlemania. Survey Says: 3/5

Backstage, Kane and Bryan argued that they other wasn’t over A.J. Kaitlyn was randomly standing there and called A.J. crazy, who was behind her. A.J. attacked Kaitlyn.

The Shield made quick work of The Great Khali, Zack Ryder and Justin Gabriel. They hit a Triple Power Bomb on Great Khali after the match. Randy Orton and Sheamus came out. As they were walking down the ramp, Big Show came in through the crowd. All three took it to The Shield. The Shield retreated. Looks like Big Show joining Sheamus and Orton is “official.”

Chris Jericho said Vickie Guerrero made Jericho/Fandango official at Wrestlemania.

The Rhodes Scholars defeated Tensai and Brodus Clay. The Bellas and Naomi/Cameron fought on the outside during the match.

Ryback beat 3MB. He hit a pretty impressive Shell Shocked with Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater both on his shoulders.

A.J. beat Kaitlyn via countout. Kaitlyn missed a Spear on the outside and went right into the barricade.

    Stop Teasing “The Turn” Already…

The Legends for the Rock/Cena Panel: Booker T, Mick Foley, Dusty Rhodes and Bret Hart. mMick Foley asked John Cena if he is ready to live with the possible regret of losing to The Rock again at Wrestlemania. Cena said win or lose, it will change the face of the WWE forever. If he wins he gets redemption. Cena said if he loses he will be like Donovan McNabb. Despite being the best QB to ever play for the Eagles, he still gets booed because he didn’t win the big one. He rambled on some more. Rock said when he was 23 he was broke and got his mattress out of a dumpster. Then he tore his ACL and when he came back, asked them to give him a mic. Cena became the youngest WWE Champ ever, then lost to Austin. Rock rambled too.

Bret Hart asked what changed between them and why it doesn’t seem like there is any bad blood. Rock said Cena took his loss like a man, and in 13 days we will see how Rock handles his. Booker asked Cena why he is going to beat The Rock at Mania. Cena said because he has too. Rock said to wipe his ass with that. Cena said Rock didn’t beat him, he beat himself. Cena said he made one mistake, and he knows he is better than The Rock. Rock said to quote another legend, to be the man, you have to beat the man. And Cena will never be the man.

Dusty said Wrestlemania is about winning or losing. Dusty asked them what they really want. Cena said he wants to win the big one and dominate The Rock. And Rock will realize that he is better, and hand him a loss so devastating that it will effect him the rest of his life. Rock said the day after Mania, he will still be WWE Champ and Cena will be eating some Fruity Pebbles. Rock wanted Cena to prove him wrong, right now. Both men stared each other down. Cena did the “You Can’t See Me” then went for an AA. Rock got out and hit a Rock Bottom. The show ended with Cena looking dejected in the ring and Rock standing tall on the ramp.

Segment Analysis: That didn’t start off very well. The way that first question was going made it look like this segment was going to suck. But both men picked up their intensity at the end. And despite no one believing it, Cena sold pretty well that losing to the Rock last year has haunted him forever. It was a strong showing by Cena, who again continues to tease a possible heel turn. At this point, I think the WWE is just baiting us with it to try to get us to believe it is happening. I would still put it at less than 50%, but they are doing a good job of making us believe it will happen. Was that enough to get me into this match? Not yet. They have one week. Survey Says: 3.5/5

    OVERALL

I thought that was a strong episode of RAW. The WWE needed to do something to get people caring about the ENTIRE Wrestlemania card, and they did a good job of doing that here. The Taker/Punk opening was great. And Taker looked like he was ready to go at Mania, which was an encouraging sign. They did a GREAT job of getting some heat and intensity into the Jericho/Fandango program. In one week they made it seem like a big deal. Ryback and Mark Henry got a decent build. They did a good job of convincing us that Sheamus, Randy Orton and Big Show can be a cohesive unit. But I still think Orton is turning at Mania. The last job did a good job of adding some heat to the Rock/Cena program that was on hiatus for two weeks. It was a good job by the WWE building to the biggest show of the year. Two good matches as well. I’m giving it an 8.

    Until Next Time,

Could Bobby Lashley Be On His Way Back To TNA?

Could Bobby Lashley Be On His Way Back To TNA?

Former TNA Wrestler turned MMA Fighter Bobby Lashley recently spoke with The Bolin Alley podcast hosted by Chris Bolin. The subject of TNA and Bellator's cross-promotion came up and Lashley revealed, while being somewhat vague on the subject that he has been contacted by TNA, Bellator or both about a possible singing. Lashley said:

"We've had talks, we've had talks. We're still having talks. Until those talks come into producing, then it's just talking."
