Ted DiBiase spoke to MySanAntonio.com to promote TLC. Heres what he had to say about his toughest opponent:
Id probably have to say Shawn Michaels. Even though hes a little bit older now, you cant underestimate him. Hes still Mr. Wrestlemania, hes still The Showstopper. Something happens when that bell rings. Hes a feisty little man. Not little. Hes feisty. I put his head through a chair, and he needed stitches, and it didnt even faze him. Theres no practicing (taking chair shots). You just tough it out. You just hope the adrenalines flowing so much that you dont even feel it until the next day.
CM Punk & Luke Gallows def. R-Truth & Matt Hardy Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show def. Eric Escobar (Handicap Match) Kane def. Mike Knox Mickie James & Maria def. Womens Champion Michelle McCool & Layla Batista def. Rey Mysterio (Street Fight)
HOUSTON With WWE TLC just two days away where tables, ladders and chairs are all legal SmackDown played host to its own anything-goes-war in an epic Street Fight between Rey Mysterio and Batista, which saw World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker enter the fray. (WWE TLC coverage)
Batista def. Rey Mysterio in a Street Fight At the start of the night, Batista made it clear to the WWE Universe that he didn't care if they booed him. After demanding a spotlight be placed on him, he claimed that he never needed fans, Rey Mysterio, Evolution, or anybody else. Instead, he proclaimed that it was all about him and already declared himself World Heavyweight Champion Batista." (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Later in the main event, The Animal went one-on-one with Rey Mysterio in a brutal Street Fight. After a furious battle, Batista reigned supreme over his former comrade-in-arms with a combination spear, spinebuster and chair blast.
After the match, the No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship attempted to continue his assault on Mysterio. But, The Deadman emerged with furious vengeance in his eyes, executing his own brand of dark retribution just two days before their World Title Chair Match. (PHOTOS | WATCH | Match preview)
CM Punk & Luke Gallows def. R-Truth & Matt Hardy (PHOTOS | WATCH) While The Second City Saint continued to speak vehemently against the new WWE DVD: Jeff Hardy: My Life, My Rules, Matt Hardy and R-Truth chose to give out free copies, before sending The Straightedge Savior out of the ring with a pre-match microphone to the head. But, once the match got underway, the once lost Luke Gallows found victory for himself and Punk by defeating Hardy with the devastating Twelve Steps.
Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show def. Eric Escobar in a Handicap Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) Shortly after punishing Eric Escobar by putting him in a match against Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho, SmackDown Official Consultant Vickie Guerrero interrupted the action to inform her ex-boyfriend that he would also be facing Jerichos gigantic tag team partner, Big Show. Although Escobar did his best in his second Handicap Match in two weeks, the combined force of the dominant duo was too much to withstand, as he fell victim to the infamous Walls of Jericho.
Will Jeri-Show carry their dominance into WWE TLC and fulfill their promise to rid WWE of D-Generation X? (Match preview)
Intercontinental John Morrison faced off with Drew McIntyre (PHOTOS | WATCH) One week after Drew McIntyre pinned Intercontinental Champion John Morrison in non-title action, he came to the ring to discuss their WWE TLC Title Match and refute Morrison's popularity. Much to the No. 1 contenders chagrin, The Guru of Greatness came forth to meet him dressed as Bravehearts William Wallace. The Chosen One took Morrisons humorous actions as major disrespect to his culture, daring him to put down the sword he was wielding. The A-Lister soon answered the challenge and things erupted into an all-out brawl, ending with McIntyre being expelled from the ring.
What will happen when The Shaman and the Scottsman face-off at WWE TLC with the future of the Intercontinental Championship hanging in the balance? (Match preview)
Kane def. Mike Knox (PHOTOS | WATCH) Despite losing to Kane last week, the sadistic Knox asked his horrifying opponent for another match, claiming that he liked locking horns with The Big Red Machine. Though Kane once again triumphed with the chokeslam, the merciless tenaciousness of the demented Knox helped create a battle of pure monstrous mayhem between the two frightening Superstars.
Mickie James & Maria def. Womens Champion Michelle McCool & Layla (PHOTOS | WATCH) In the fast-paced climax to the clash between the smart, sexy, and powerful Divas of SmackDown, Mickie sent Layla hurling into Women's Champion Michelle McCool, before rolling the English Diva up for a major tag team triumph.
Can Mickie use the momentum to capture her fifth Women's Championship when she faces Michelle at WWE TLC? (Match preview)
Shane McMahon has not been working for WWE since announcing his resignation, which takes effect January 1st. Its said that morale is the lowest with workers in the office since anyone can remember. One person close to Shane says that him leaving WWE had to do with being passed over for power and that he was tired of being humiliated publicly by Vince.
TNA updates on Rob Van Dam and Ken Anderson Credit: F4WOnline.com
- Those close to Rob Van Dam say that he doesn't have any "emotional attachment" to TNA. However, if he's offered big money with a light schedule, he would consider signing a deal.
- Ken Anderson to TNA now seems unlikely since he wants to focus more on an acting career. At one point, Anderson was looking to join TNA and prove that WWE made a mistake in letting him go.
- Ric Flair has been in talks with TNA since the Hulkamania tour although there is still no word on a deal being reached. TNA is hoping to him signed by the end of next week. There has also been discussion about doing a Flair vs. Sting program.
- Jim Ross is another name being considered by TNA. However, it's unknown when he'll be able to appear on TV again and a return to WWE still seems to be the most likely option.

Jack Swagger def. MVP (PHOTOS | WATCH) In the nights main event, two of Raws finest in-ring warriors battled it out with the two-time collegiate All-American claiming victory. Though it was a back-and-forth battle, Swagger used his amateur wrestling skills and his commanding power to take control of the match when he needed to. After The All-American American connected with his vicious Gutwrench Powerbomb, MVP was left with nothing to do but look up at the lights despite a valiant effort.
The Hart Dynasty def. Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master J (PHOTOS | WATCH) Maybe it is their heritage, but The Hart Dynasty has proven that they are winners, with this week being no different in their tag team match against Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master J. The chemistry displayed between lifelong friends David Hart Smith and Tyson Kidd is undeniable, and despite the impressive skills of both their opponents, Smith & Kidd proved to be the better team. As both Wang and J can attest, if The Hart Dynasty wants the win, they will take it.
Dolph Ziggler def. Finlay (PHOTOS | WATCH) Last week, the Hollywood, Fla., native defeated an in-ring veteran in Matt Hardy, and the young Superstar followed it up with another big win against The Man Who Loves to Fight. Due to Finlays propensity for pugilism, Ziggler knew it wouldnt be an easy night, but his tenaciousness allowed him to stand toe-to-toe with The Belfast Brawler and pick up the win after hitting the Zig Zag. Things are looking on the up for Dolph, and a lot can be expected from him if they keep going the way they are.
Story behind Maryse fainting on RAW Posted by Chris Kaufman on 12/08/2009 at 02:23 PM
Credit: F4WOnline.com
As seen on RAW last week, Maryse looked to faint after her Divas tag match with Melina and Gail Kim. The story behind her falling is that she was just really tired and blown up. She went to do her signature hair flip and realized she wasn't on the hard camera side so she just laid down and laughed about it.
- Charlie Haas reportedly asked WWE for his release within the last few months. Apparently officials were going to grant him the release at first but changed their minds and gave him a raise instead. There was a rumor going around that Kurt Angle had a spot for Haas in TNA so WWE kept Haas around instead of having him jump to TNA.
Hogan talks about WWE stars wanting to join TNA Posted by Randy Gordon on 12/09/2009 at 03:41 PM
Thanks to PWTorch.com for the following recap:
Hulk Hogan threw Spike TV under the bus in an interview to promote his battle against WWE and Vince McMahon when explaining the decision to go head-to-head with WWE Raw on the first Monday of 2010. Hogan also claimed Vince is going to throw everything he has at TNA on January 4. He cited his Australian Tour where he says McMahon did everything he could to upset the apple cart and promote WWEs tour of Australia in spring 2010. When I talked to Spike about going head-to-head on Monday nights, I did it for a reason. If youre going to pick a fight, pick a big fight, Hogan said on the Main Event Radio show. Everybody (at Spike) was scared of their own shadow. What if we dont do a number? The thing is, I said, Dont even worry about it. You have to give the audience a choice.
Hogan also claimed that since TNA made the announcement on the UFC special this past Saturday, hes received calls from wrestlers in WWE who are interested in coming to TNA because theyre unhappy with their situation. Ever since I made this announcement, you wouldnt believe some of the wrestlers that have been calling me. A lot of friends, a lot of people in WWE who are not happy with their current situation, Hogan claimed. And you know, we just might surprise you. We might just get some momentum on Monday nights quicker than you think.

Vance Archer def. Tommy Dreamer Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft def. local competitors ECW Champion Christian, Shelton Benjamin & Yoshi Tatsu def. William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov
HOUSTON Early shades of this Sundays WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view were apparent in the Land of the Extreme this week, as ECW Champion Christian and No. 1 contender Shelton Benjamin came to blows atop a ladder after using teamwork to defeat The Ruthless Roundtable moments earlier.
ECW Champion Christian, Shelton Benjamin & Yoshi Tatsu def. William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov (PHOTOS | WATCH) The Ruthless Roundtable a trio that has been through plenty of rocky moments throughout the last few weeks faced another giant hurdle this week on ECW on Syfy. Yoshi Tatsu teamed with ECW Champion Christian and his WWE TLC opponent, No. 1 contender Shelton Benjamin, to challenge William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov, in the Extreme main event this week, and The British Brawler and his associates once again crumbled, thanks to the stress of their shaky relationship.
The Moscow Mauler attempted to walk out on his tag team partners, but Big Zeke chased him up the ramp and they began to brawl. When Regal attempted to restore order among his team outside of the ring, they wound up losing the match via count-out. After Benjamin leapt off the top rope at his tag competitors, Christian pulled a ladder from under the ring and climbed it toward the ECW Championship hanging above the mat. Benjamin jumped onto the ladder and fought with Captain Charisma atop the metal structure in what could be a preview to Sundays Ladders Match at WWE TLC.
Where does The Ruthless Roundtable stand after an explosive ECW on Syfy? Who will walk away from WWE TLC the ECW Champion current titleholder Christian or No. 1 contender Benjamin?
Challenging The Ruthless Roundtable (PHOTOS | WATCH) Earlier in the night, Vladimir Kozlov called out his Ruthless Roundtable associate, Ezekiel Jackson, for walking out on their tag team match last week. But their leader, William Regal, intervened and got on his knees, begging them not to let their misunderstanding break their group apart. WWE TLC competitors Shelton Benjamin and ECW Champion Christian, along with Yoshi Tatsu, interrupted The Ruthless Roundtable, challenging them to a tag team match. ECW General Manager Tiffany emerged to let the devious threesome decide if Kozlov and Jackson should settle their differences alone in a match, but Kozlov and Regal decided to accept the Six-Man Tag Team Match.
Vance Archer def. Tommy Dreamer (PHOTOS | WATCH) Vance Archer, one of ECWs newest Superstars, returned to the ring this week, this time taking on Tommy Dreamer. The intense newcomer earned his biggest Extreme accomplishment yet with a hard-fought victory over the former ECW Champion. Archer continued his streak of intense decimation, upping his impressive record to 5-0. Archer has promised hell reach the top of ECW, and plans to savor each and every moment as he paints his masterpiece of agony along the way. Who does Archer plan to bulldoze through next?
A second chance for The Ripper? (WATCH) Paul Burchill, dressed as the masked Ripper, and his sister, Katie Lea, The Beautiful Nightmare, returned to the Land of the Extreme, much to the dismay of a frustrated Tiffany. The ECW General Manager offered The Ripper a proposition if he defeats The Hurricane next week, hell earn an ECW contract.
Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft def. local competitors (PHOTOS | WATCH) ECWs newest tag team, Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft, returned to the Land of the Extreme this week with another easy win over two local competitors, as Croft got the pin. This video game playing duo is now 2-0 on ECW on Syfy and seems ready to make an impact on Tuesday nights. Who will these lifelong friends who have promised theyre ready to change the world face next in the ring?
In response to the recent report that WWE talent weren't allowed to Tweet after midnight or talk about other promotions, Gregory Helms posted the following last week on Twitter:
"Uh-oh! Tweeting after midnight! Don't believe everything you read kiddies. I even watched TUF tonight. Oh no!!!! This might blow the Tiger Woods story away!"
Somber mood backstage at WWE RAW Posted by Chris Kaufman on 12/07/2009 at 07:28 PM
Unlike most WWE wrestler related deaths in recent years, WWE has plans to showcase a video package this time around as a tribute honoring Edward "Umaga" Fatu is being prepared. Should the company decide against airing it on television this week, you can catch it on the official WWE website.
In related news, the mood backstage at RAW today in Dallas is said to be rather somber. Most figure it will be worse tomorrow as his closest friends were mostly on Smackdown. In particular, Charlie Haas and Cryme Tyme member Shad Gaspard were both described as "devastated" over his sudden death.
According to The Sun publication, Eddie "Umaga" Fatu was set to return to WWE by the end of the year or early 2010.
WWE officials confirmed to The Sun that Fatu would have been back on the roster had he passed a screening test. Fatu only had two strikes on his record when he was released by WWE this past June after refusing to enter a rehabilitation center following his second violation of the company's drug testing policy. Had he returned to the company, his previous two offenses would have remained.
In October, Umaga told colleagues that he was speaking to WWE about returning to the company. This was the reason he gave for pulling out of a previously scheduled 'shoot' interview filming.
Figure Four Weekly's Bryan Alvarez also reports that Hulk Hogan wanted to bring Fatu to TNA following the 'Hulkamania' tour of Australia. However, he told people there was no way he was going to TNA and that he was heading back to WWE once the tour had commenced.
One WWE source said they expected him to return by the Royal Rumble providing he passed his screening test.
Thanks to reader Andrew for sending in the following live report of Hulk Hogans Monday appearance on Bubba the Love Sponges radio show:
Interestingly, he made mention of Rob Van Dam and how over he was in WWE. He said politics was the reason RVD was never as successful as he should have been.
When Bubba mentioned Jeff Hardy, Hulk said he would love to have Jeff Hardy in TNA.
Hulk said he has not spoken to Randy Savage or Scott Hall.
Hogan said he has not spoken to Vince Russo. He once again said that if Vince Russo is able to come up with a great idea he would listen.
He once again squashed rumors that he was only coming to TNA as a talent. He said that he would be the booker in TNA.
Hogan said the writers will be in a secondary position in TNA and that if the workers have to have the writers to get over then they can head up north [to WWE] where everything is scripted.
Hulk put over Umaga and Mr. Kennedy [Hulk called him Mr. Kennedy, not Mr. Anderson] saying they tore it down in Australia.
Hulk told a story about when he was wrestling in San Francisco and met a then 3-year-old Eddie Umaga Fatu.
Hogan said that the night before Umaga died, he spoke with him and told Umaga he would love to involve him in his plans for TNA, and that was the last time he ever spoke to him.
Bubba mentioned that today is Ravishing Rick Rudes birthday. Hogan put Rick over and said that he was really good friends with him. They spoke about some other topics including Hogans divorce and the Tiger Woods situation but that was the extent of the TNA and wrestling related topics that were covered.
TNA Knockout Lacey Von Erich announced on her Facebook page over the weekend she got engaged. Speaking of Von Erich, TNA officials continue to be unimpressed with her in-ring work. One source told me no matter how much the agents work with her, she appears "untrained".
Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase def. Evan Bourne & Primo Maryse def. Gail Kim Kofi Kingston def. Randy Orton United States Champion The Miz def. Mark Henry Eve & Hornswoggle def. Jillian & Chavo Guerrero DX vs. Chris Jericho ended in a No Contest
DALLAS - To say that the Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, is a hands-on boss would be a bit like saying Sheamus has a wee anger management problem. The exuberant billionaire makes sure hes courtside for every one of the Mavs home games, cheering on his team from the sweat zone. All of which helps explain the Raw special guest hosts decision to sit ringside during the entire Raw broadcast rather than seclude himself in some cushy back office.
Sheamus attacked WWE Champion John Cena and Mark Cuban during WWE Championship TLC Championship Showdown (PHOTOS | WATCH) It was supposed to be a verbal joust, two men making their case and talking trash just six days before they collide at WWE TLC in a Tables Match. WWE Champion John Cena and Sheamus met in the ring with moderator, special guest host Mark Cuban. As the Dallas Mavs owner asked questions, The Celtic Warrior answered with bombast, stating why and how he will defeat The Champ. For his part, Cena demurred, finally asking his opponent whether he believes what hes saying.
The question riled Sheamus. He appeared ready to leave the ring, but instead he attacked Cuban and took a cheap shot at the WWE Champion. When Cena came to, Sheamus kicked him in the skull to put him down again. Thats when The Celtic Warrior went all psycho on Cuban, slamming the host through a table!
DX vs. Chris Jericho ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH) Surprise, surprise. Rather than take his medicine like a man, Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho relied on his partner, Big Show, to save his bacon. After losing to Triple H last week, the self-important Superstar was forced by stipulation this week to face The Game & Shawn Michaels in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match.
Just six days before the two teams clash in a TLC Match at WWE TLC, The Worlds Largest Athlete interfered on his partners behalf. He and Jericho, perhaps in a preview of pain to come, attacked DX with a ladder and chair, leaving The Game and HBK trounced in their wake.
Dennis Miller to act as special guest host of The 2009 Slammy Awards (WATCH) Dont miss next weeks three-hour Raw as comedian Dennis Miller acts as special guest host as well as Master of Ceremonies for this years Slammy Awards. Join the king of the arcane reference as he keeps the audiences heads spinning like Anne Boleyn at a samurai convention, cha-cha.
Eve & Hornswoggle def. Jillian & Chavo Guerrero (PHOTOS | WATCH) Chavo Guerrero appeared to be as steamed as a chicken tamale. The self-proclaimed Mexican Warrior teamed with Jillian to face his own pint-size plague, Hornswoggle, and his partner, Eve.
When the final bell sounded, the gorgeous Eve had pinned the tone-deaf Diva to secure the win for her team. Guerrero snapped. Initially, he trained his fury on the leprechaun until he spotted the new DX-Hornswoggle T-shirt Swoggle wore. He then directed his anger at Eve. Before he could act, however, Chris Masters, who happened to be visiting with guest host Mark Cuban at ringside, interceded on the beautys behalf.
United States Champion The Miz def. Mark Henry (PHOTOS | WATCH) Deride Mark Henry at your own risk. Last week, United States Champion The Miz took to calling the Olympic veteran The Worlds Blandest Man and paid for it with a loss. This week, the two met for a rematch, but this time, the so-called Awesome One shockingly let his actions do the talking and defeated The Worlds Strongest Man.
Kofi Kingston def. Randy Orton; Cuban announced Kofi vs. Orton at WWE TLC (PHOTOS | WATCH) On the court and in the ring, the men in the black-and-white stripes are both judge and jury. Which is why, when Randy Orton faced Kofi Kingston, one of the last people he wanted to see wearing the zebra attire was Mark Cuban. Six years earlier, Orton RKOd the Dallas Mavericks owner during Survivor Series and Cuban never forgot it.
During the match, Kofi pushed Ortons shoulders to canvas, but before The Viper had a chance to kick out, Cuban served up a cold dish of quick count, allowing Kofi the win. To make matters worse for Orton, Cuban then announced that The Viper must face The Dreadlock Dynamo in six days at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs.
Maryse def. Gail Kim; Maryse attacked Kelly Kelly (PHOTOS | WATCH) While taking time off from a career, some people look deep inside their soul and resolve to be a kinder, more sympathetic human being. Maryse isnt one of those people. Ever since her ring return, the conceited Canadian has been on a malicious, single-minded quest: Recapture the Divas Championship.
This week, the blond beauty battled Gail Kim while Kelly Kelly served as special guest ring announcer. Kims tenacity appeared to match up well against Maryse, but the match ended in the blond Divas favor when, with the referees back turned, she seized the opportunity to cheat and win.
Her depravity didnt end there. When Kelly Kelly announced the winner, Maryse insisted that she designate her the next Divas Champion. When Kelly Kelly refused, Maryse attacked, prompting current Divas Champion Melina to rush to her friends aid and jolt Maryse from the scene.
Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase def. Evan Bourne & Primo (PHOTOS | WATCH) Not only did Mark Cuban wield his power against Randy Orton, he also has it in for The Vipers accomplices. After Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase harangued the guest host on Ortons behalf, the boyish billionaire arranged a tag match between The Legacy and Evan Bourne & Primo.
While Bourne & Primo pushed Legacy to the limit on WWE Superstars last Thursday, Rhodes & DiBiase fielded everything thrown at them and chalked up a win for the effort. Before they could savor the victory, though, Cuban had the troublemaking twosome tossed from the arena by security. Take that, Legacy!
Cuban announced Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston tonight (PHOTOS) Who could blame Mark Cuban if he held a grudge? After all, it was Randy Orton who administered a vicious RKO to Cuban at Survivor Series 2003. Paybacks, as they say, are well, theyre not very fun.
Despite protestations from The Viper, Cuban refused to lift the ban on him competing for another championship match as long as Cena holds the title. Not only that, the Mavs owner then insisted that Orton face his nemesis, Kofi Kingston, later that night after The Viper and Legacy attacked The Dreadlock Dynamo last week. Oh, and one more thing: To keep things clean, Cuban will act as special guest referee.
Special guest host Mark Cuban announced a TLC Showdown; WWE Champion John Cena def. Carlito (PHOTOS | WATCH) In keeping with his involved attitude, special guest host Mark Cuban informed the packed American Airlines Center that a TLC Showdown between WWE Champion John Cena and the No. 1 contender Sheamus will take place later in the night, during which they will each have the opportunity to speak their minds. Cuban then personally welcomed WWE Champion John Cena to the ring before taking his seat alongside several Mavs players and The Bella Twins.
Cena was scheduled to face Carlito, who last week informed The Champ that he and the entire Raw roster were hoping for Sheamus to defeat him during their WWE Championship Table Match at Sundays WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view.
During the bout, Sheamus approached the ring. While security swarmed around The Celtic Warrior, The Champ became distracted by the commotion. A cunning Carlito then attacked Cena from behind, but the WWE Champion managed to flip the script on the uncool customer and laid him out with an Attitude Adjustment.
John Cena to miss January 4th RAW? Posted by Chris Kaufman on 12/09/2009 at 02:16 PM
According to PWInsider.com, John Cena will miss the January 4th RAW taping in Ohio because he'll be in Arizona doing the Fiesta Bowl coin flip to promote Wrestlemania 26.
In an update, there has still been no talk of making that particular episode of RAW a three-hour broadcast. It's being said that Vince McMahon has yet to openly react to TNA's three-hour live special.
- Several WWE talents, including Diva Mickie James via her Twitter page, voiced their disappointment over not being booked for the Tribute to the Troops show in Iraq. With last week's show taped at the Balad Airbase in Iraq, the roster for the show was finalized months in advance as all talents are subject to FBI screening. Also, with all the production equipment and crew, there is limited space on the cargo plane.
TNA Wrestling has issued another press release regarding the company's live 3-hour special edition of iMPACT! on Monday, January 4th.
The most newsworthy item from the statement is that Sting will be one of the stars appearing that night. Also advertised for the show are TNA champion A.J. Styles, Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, Samoa Joe, Bobby Lashley, and Matt Morgan. A press release issued over the weekend also teased several big surprises for the show.
Sting's last TNA television appearance was at October's Bound For Glory pay-per-view. Since then, TNA has been teasing that Sting is considering retirement from the ring.
In an eerie trivia note, both Eddie Guerrero and Umaga wrestled their final matches against Ken Anderson. Both grapplers would pass away mere days after facing the former Mr. Kennedy. On a somewhat related note, former WWE wrestler Armando Estrada wrestled his retirement match against Anderson last night in Milwaukee.
Mickie James signs recording contract Posted by Chris Kaufman on 12/04/2009 at 01:20 PM
The following press release was issued yesterday:
WWE® Diva Mickie James Signs Recording Contract With Acclaimed Nashville Producer Kent Wells Dec 3, 2009
(Nashville, TN) Today WWE® Diva Mickie James announced the signing of an exclusive personal recording contract with famed Nashville music producer Kent Wells.
Wells has produced projects for country artists Dolly Parton, Michael Peterson, and Neal McCoy among others. He also played guitar on and co-produced Dolly Partons GRAMMY-nominated album, Halos And Horns and the GRAMMY and Oscar-nominated song Travelin Through. He also produced Partons most recent album, Backwoods Barbie, which was the highest debuting Billboard Chart album release of her historic career.
James and Wells are currently in the studio working on her first recording project. A spring 2010 debut release is anticipated.
Last month, James announced signings with Sherry Massaros Nashville-based Skyline Management Group, Inc., as well as Don Grubbs Absolute Publicity, Inc. for public relations representation.
- Though details are unclear, sources say Carlito's recent absence from WWE was not an issue of creative having no plans for him. According to the Wrestling Observer, the reason for his absence "was something bad that [WWE is] trying to keep quiet."
Regarding his knee injury, Rey Mysterio intends to work through it until after the Wrestlemania 26 PPV.
After this time, it is planned that he will undergo his sixth surgery on his left knee.
In recent times, Mysterio has been unable to work several Wrestlemania PPV events which is why he is delaying the surgery. The Royal Rumble-Wrestlemania period is usually where the talent get their biggest paydays.
TNAwrestling.com has posted some comments made by TNA President Dixie Carter in an interview with Mike Tenay, announcing that a new show entitled "TNA Epics," will launch on Spike TV this January. Additionally, Carter confirmed that TNA will be debuting another show as well, but that has yet to be titled. Carter said, "We are also working on another show, as well. But as far as coming up with a second show to compete with Impact, at this point, is not something we're discussing."
Regarding Sid Vicious joining TNA, nobody still within the company knows anything about him coming in besides what he wrote on his website.
One feeling is that either he made it up to try and get WWE to show interest in him. The other feeling, which is more likely, is that he is one of the guys Eric Bischoff has been talking with independently from TNA about coming in. It's said that there are several big names on that list.
Every reaction from people in TNA when asked about Sid coming in is a negative one. It's said that Sid's name has only been brought up once in the booking history of TNA and that was for a planned one-time shot. Former TNA writer Dutch Mantell called Sid up a while back for the one-time deal and the conversation ended with Sid chewing Dutch out for the offer.
Recent reports from the American Wrestling Rampage tour of Europe said Sid left the tour with torn biceps and if that's the case, he's going to be out of action for a while.
- TNA agents are high on Madison Rayne right now. The feeling is that she is improving and learning faster than any of the other Knockouts. As expected, they are not too fond of Lacey Von Erich at the moment.
In case you missed the news on Saturday night, TNA Wrestling has announced that they'll be airing a special 3-hour live edition of TNA iMPACT! on Monday night, January 4th. The show will go head-to-head with WWE Raw for the first time ever.
TNA President Dixie Carter posted a message on her Twitter page with a comment that implies more moves like this are on the way. She wrote:
"Hogan to debut Jan 4 in a live 3 hr iMPACT! special up against Raw. How's that for a 1st shot? Spread the word."
I don't have this confirmed just yet but I was told by a reliable source tonight that WWE may be planning to counter TNA's three-hour special on January 4th with a three-hour special of their own. That means both shows would go head-to-head from 8-11EST on January 4th. Anyone think WWE doesn't care or think about TNA? Guess again.
I'll have more on this tomorrow but again this is NOT confirmed just yet.
The following are Facebook statuses talent have left on Umaga's passing:
John Bradshaw Layfield: Very saddened to hear about the death of Eddie Fatu (known as Umaga in WWE) we were tag team partners on some of my last few road trips with WWE, had a ball with Umaga and will miss my friend. Enjoy your friends and family, life is great, but it also can be too short. So don't miss a day, enjoy life today.
Samu Anoa'i: Thank you all. Rest in Peace My Cousin!! WE LOVE YOU
Abdullah The Butcher: Eddie "Ekmo" Fatu was a good caring man. he is now with the Lord in a much greater place. feel for his family but not for him as he is where we all can only hope to be. at peace.
Vito Lograsso: I truly have lost many guys in the Buss of Wrestling. 19 years worth. I hope what ever happened to Eddie, he is now in a place of peace. God only takes the best people. I am truly sad and hope this is a eye opener for all on Facebook. Enjoy your life and try to think of things in a positive way. If you have something b...othering you. No shame to call a friend. Makes you human. I am the first to admit life can be hard.
Travis Tomko: Eki you were so good to me, and knew me when I was just a BodyGaurd wanting to be a wrestler, you helped me so much, Now your gone? You were a easy going , fun loving, and a caring guy, and so very fun to be with! It was God's wish I suppose, but I wish I had said goodbye. I pray for your Wife, Junior (rikishi) and the rest of your family bro, I will help any way I can! You will be So Very Missed! I Love You Uce!
