Dolph Ziggler & Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & Chris Jericho def. Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio & Cryme Tyme Finlay def. Mike Knox (Disqualification) Melina & Maria def. Layla & Natalya World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy & John Morrison def. CM Punk & The Hart Dynasty
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With SummerSlam looming, SmackDown’s Superstars had a final chance to make statements and build momentum for the Main Event of the Summer. Making the biggest statement of the night was Matt Hardy, who not only used words, but his actions, to let the WWE Universe know that he and is brother Jeff are back and ready for action together!
World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy & John Morrison def. CM Punk & The Hart Dynasty (PHOTOS | VIDEO) The night’s main event featured the reunited Hardy brothers, who proved they are once again a force to be reckoned with in WWE. A fired-up Matt Hardy took care of business by dropping No. 1 contender CM Punk with a Twist of Fate to get the pinfall for his team. Does the win give World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy the momentum he needs to successfully defend his title against Punk this Sunday? (Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match preview)
"The Hardys Ride Again" (VIDEO) In an exclusive interview with Josh Mathews, Matt Hardy admitted he made a mistake in how he treated his brother Jeff this year. Now, Matt says, “the Hardys ride again.”
Prelude to TLC? (PHOTOS) In an in-ring encounter earlier in the night, CM Punk once again lectured Jeff Hardy and the WWE Universe about the straightedge lifestyle. But, Punk paid the price when he tried to knock the champion from atop a ladder in the middle of the ring. The egregious actions prompted the high-flyer to crush the No. 1 contender with a Twist of Fate. (VIDEO)
Dolph Ziggler & Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & Chris Jericho def. Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio & Cryme Tyme (PHOTOS | VIDEO) The main event wasn’t the night’s only Six-Man Tag Team Match. The opening bout also featured a massive six-man encounter. The match appeared to be over when Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio stunned Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho with a 619. But before the Mysterio could capitalize, Unified Tag Team Champion Big Show dropped the masked Superstar with a massive right to the head. Jericho still had the wherewithal to tag in Ziggler, who wasted no time covering his SummerSlam opponent for the pinfall. (Intercontinental Championship preview) | Video: "Word Up"! with Cryme Tyme
The Great Khali attacks Kane (PHOTOS | VIDEO) Recalling what he did to The Great Khali’s brother, Ranjin Singh, on last week’s SmackDown, Kane claimed to be the real monster who should be feared. Hearing enough talk, The Punjabi Giant decided not to wait until their SummerSlam match (preview), and rushed to the ring and attacked The Big Red Monster.
Finlay def. Mike Knox (Disqualification) (PHOTOS | VIDEO) In a blue-collar battle of brute force, Mike Knox failed to heed the referee’s warning to stop reigning down blows on a vulnerable Finlay. The disregard earned Knox the disqualification. But the brutality wasn’t over, as an angry Knox destroyed The Fighting Irishman outside of the ring by smashing him in the skull with a section of the steel ring steps. Ouch!
Melina & Maria def. Layla & Natalya (PHOTOS | VIDEO) It was the sexy, smart and powerful former Women’s Champion Melina who earned a convincing win over Natalya. However, reigning Women's Champion Michelle McCool – who joined J.R. and Todd Grisham on commentary – was not impressed with the win.

* Angle says Morgan kicked him so hard he lost feeling in his extremities and got knocked loopy. He said he broke up the pin because he thought Morgan was being pinned. Angle goes on to claim he was so out of it he didn't realize he pinned Morgan. Angle offers Morgan another chance, teaming with him against Team 3D in a tables match. Morgan accepts the offer and leaves. The Main Event Mafia remains in the ring.

* ODB b. Alissa Flash with a running slam. After the match fans can get in the ring and get their photo taken with The Beautiful People for $20.
Veteran WWE Superstar Chris Jericho is universally viewed as one of the organization's most valuable players, but that does not mean the Fozzy lead singer is wholly satisfied with the current WWE environment.
"We’re in a crisis period in WWE and we need to build new guys," said Jericho in an interview with the Baltimore Sun.
Jericho added that one of Shawn Michaels ' first comments upon returning to RAW was, "Whose been built since I left?"
There was no clear answer from Y2J, who believes the problem is limited to RAW; he explains that while SmackDown! has created stars out of John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler and Cryme Tyme, "I can’t tell you on Raw who has been built over the last six months. They better do it soon, because when this generation of performers is gone, who will replace them?"
In the same interview, Jericho also discusses his feud with Rey Mysterio, his short-lived tag team with Edge and the success of Shaquille O'Neal, Seth Green and Freddie Prinze, Jr. as guest RAW hosts.
Beth Phoenix def. Kelly Kelly Shelton Benjamin def. Tyler Reks R-Truth def. Charlie Haas Mark Henry def. Chris Masters via count-out
With “WWE Superstars” airing on WGN America just three days before SummerSlam, things were bound to heat up, and they did just that with four hard-hitting matches including a main event pitting Mark Henry against Chris Masters in a battle between two of WWE’s strongest ring warriors.
Don’t know where to catch “WWE Superstars”? Find WGN America in your area. Can't see “WWE Superstars” on WGN America in your area? Stay with WWE.com for full results, photos and video clips of all the action.
Beth Phoenix def. Kelly Kelly (PHOTOS | WATCH) There’s no better way to start a summer night than a match between two of WWE’s sexy, smart and powerful Divas. Kelly Kelly may disagree with that fact as she was on the losing side of action after being laid out with the Glam Slam. Kelly Kelly did everything she could to counteract The Glamazon’s intimidating strength, but in the end, she was caught in Beth’s grasp and subdued by her power. Could this be Phoenix’s ascent back to the top of the Raw Divas division?
Shelton Benjamin def. Tyler Reks (PHOTOS | WATCH) An amazing back-and-forth match saw The Gold Standard use his veteran knowledge to come out victorious against the up-and-coming Tyler Reks. While every WWE Superstar is extremely athletic, not many are on the level of these two competitors. The battle they fought was a stunning display of both men’s in-ring abilities but in the end, it was Benjamin’s Paydirt that capped it all off and gave him the win.
R-Truth def. Charlie Haas (PHOTOS | WATCH) Haas may not like it, but after Thursday night, we’re pretty sure he knows “What’s up?!” In a match pitting Truth’s street fighting skills against the Seton Hall alumnus’ collegiate wrestling background, it was up in the air as to who would be the one coming out on top. In the end, it was an impressive maneuver by the Charlotte, N.C., native that saw Truth get the pinfall over Haas.
Mark Henry def. Chris Masters via count-out (PHOTOS | WATCH) Both Mark Henry and Chris Masters are known as powerhouses, but as shown on “WWE Superstars,” Henry is recognized as The World’s Strongest Man for a reason. Though Masters threw everything he had at the smiling Raw Superstar, including three separate Master Lock attempts, it was The Masterpiece who was left decimated with a World’s Strongest Slam. However, instead of getting the pin, Henry had to watch as Masters stumbled up the entrance ramp to the locker room as the referee counted him out. Although The World’s Strongest Man would have preferred it to have been a pinfall, he was still grinning from ear to ear as his arm was raised.
Express Night Out has a new interview online with WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston to promote Sunday's Summerslam pay-per-view. Below are the highlights:
Tweeting he was having Summerslam tights made only to be left off the card: I think I got ahead of myself and got excited. The card is always subjected to change; you never know what's going to happen. As of now, I'm not on the card, but hopefully I will be. I always have a pair of trunks for every single pay-per-view regardless if I 'm on it or not. Basically, these "Summerslam" trunks will maybe become "Hell in a Cell Trunks" or "Bragging Rights" trunks — the next pay-per-view down the road is what these trunks will be for.
Hurricane def. Paul Burchill Zack Ryder def. Yoshi Tatsu William Regal & Vladimir Kozlov def. ECW Champion Christian & Ezekiel Jackson
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ruthless No. 1 Contender William Regal used his sinister ways to inflict as much damage and pain as possible to ECW Champion Christian just five days before he’ll try to pry the Extreme gold from his hands Sunday at SummerSlam. (Match Preview)
William Regal & Vladimir Kozlov def. ECW Champion Christian & Ezekiel Jackson (PHOTOS | WATCH) After ECW Champion Christian’s tag team partner, Tommy Dreamer, was savagely attacked backstage by their main event opponents, Vladimir Kozlov & William Regal, Captain Charisma was forced to find a new associate Tuesday night as Dreamer began showing concussion-like symptoms. Christian unexpectedly partnered with Ezekiel Jackson to face No. 1 Contender Regal & The Moscow Mauler.
During the match, the Extreme, unstoppable force known as Ezekiel Jackson ran into the ring after his adversary, Kozlov. But Jackson didn’t lay a hand on The Sambo Master, instead turning on the ECW Champion, leveling his partner, allowing Regal to pin Christian for the victory. Not to be outdone, Kozlov continued his weeks-long game of one-upsmanship with Jackson, picking up Christian and furthering the damage. Finally, Jackson hit the already-battered Christian one last time. Throughout the carnage, No. 1 Contender Regal stood by devilishly smiling and encouraging Jackson and Kozlov, while watching the brutal decimation of his SummerSlam opponent.
Will the effects of this attack on Christian linger until Sunday when he must defend his ECW Championship against his most venomous challenger to date? Has enough harm truly been done to Christian to allow the ruthless Regal to become ECW Champion for the first time at SummerSlam? Or will Captain Charisma once again find the heart, soul and fortitude to prevail against The British Brawler? Tune in to SummerSlam, live Sunday at 8ET/5PT, only on pay-per-view. (Match Preview)
Hurricane def. Paul Burchill (PHOTOS | WATCH) A revenge-seeking Paul Burchill met Hurricane on this week’s ECW on Syfy. On last week’s show, Burchill lost to Yoshi Tatsu by disqualification and was later attacked – and surprised – by Hurricane. But this week, The Ripper didn’t fare any better. In his first match since his shocking return, the masked Superstar defeated Burchill with an Eye of the Hurricane. Will Burchill ever get retribution against the justice-seeking, superhero Superstar?
“The Abraham Washington Show” with Goldust and Sheamus (PHOTOS | WATCH) The rivalry between Goldust and Sheamus intensified this week on Abraham Washington’s critically-acclaimed talk show. The Bizarre One tried to explain to the controversial Washington why he and Sheamus have been at odds, but Goldust’s speech affliction wouldn’t allow him to.
“I get the tics from time to time,” he admitted, stating he was electrocuted 6½ years ago. The outspoken Washington told Goldust not to be nervous, but then brought out the evening’s other special guest, Sheamus. The intense, angry Irishman told Goldust he got lucky last week on “WWE Superstars.”
“You don’t understand, lightning doesn’t strike this Celtic Warrior twice. This isn’t over by a longshot, you gold freak,” Sheamus said to his golden rival.
Sheamus and Goldust engaged in a powerful staredown, a moment that was broken only because The Bizarre One’s condition kicked in. When will these two Superstars try to settle their score again in the ring?
Zack Ryder def. Yoshi Tatsu (PHOTOS | WATCH) Long Island, N.Y.’s favorite Superstar earned another Extreme victory this week, this time over Yoshi Tatsu. Zack Ryder continued to show off his impressive in-ring skills, proving to be one of the fiercest rising Superstars on ECW on Syfy. With his patented Zack Attack, Ryder defeated the Japanese Superstar, then grabbed the microphone to offer his infamous message to the WWE Universe: “Woo woo woo. You know it!” Who will dare to face this brash, young, cocky Superstar next?
Courtney Taylor debuts ECW’s newest Diva – Courtney Taylor – made her debut in the Land of the Extreme Tuesday night. The backstage beauty showed off her interviewing skills with ECW General Manager Tiffany (WATCH)and Tommy Dreamer (WATCH). Welcome to ECW, Courtney!
As announced Friday afternoon on WWE.com, Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore was released from his WWE contract. According to several sources, the feeling is that he showed up at last week's Raw taping looking terribly out of shape and Vince McMahon made the decision right then and there to cut him loose. He had just been hired back about a month ago.
McMahon is pretty big on first impressions. For instance, his first impression of Takeshi Morishima following a tryout match a year ago this week killed any possible interest in signing him. An issue of Power Slam noted the following: "August 19: Still on the warpath, Vince claims two more victims: he basically says Morishima looks like a giant, fat girl and that Laurinaitis was wasting his time by hyping such a s colourless and podgy wrestler. Vince also sagely notes that because fellow Japanese name Kenzo Suzuki tanked in WWE, obviously Morishima was likely to be a failure as well — solely on the basis of their shared ethnicity."
TNA Knockout Taylor Wilde seems like she took a shot at Kurt Angle’s weekend troubles with the following comment on Twitter earlier: “Just arrived in Orlando! can’t wait to see all the Knockouts, but not because I’m a stalker or anything………”
She later posted this: “Wow, that inside joke got blown out of proportion. Its not what you think it is, trust me.”
On a related note, Dave Meltzer reports that all TNA talents were told not to mention the Kurt Angle situation on Twitter and other websites.
Officer’s Criminal Complaint filed against Angle Posted by Randy Gordon on 08/16/2009 at 12:38 PM
The following is from WPXI.com:
Officer’s Criminal Complaint filed against Kurt Angle:
On 8-15-09 at 7:50am, I was dispatched to the area of Giant Eagle and Get Go for a report of a PFA violation that was taking place in the lot.
As I was en route to the scene from Robinson Towne Center, dispatch advised me that the male offender (later ID'd as Kurt Angle) was in a sliver Cadillac now headed toward the Robinson Mall on Park Manor and was wearing a green colored t-shirt.
I approached the traffic signal at the intersection of Park Manor and Robinson Center Drive.
As I was at the light, I observed a silver Cadillac STS travelling down Park Manor and making the left hand turn at Robinson Center Drive and continuing onto Park Manor.
As the vehicle passed me, I could clearly see the driver had on a green t-shirt.
I turned around my marked police unit and made a traffic stop on the vehicle as it pulled into the Starbucks lot in Robinson Towne Center.
I was advised by dispatch that the driver should be Kurt Angle and that he was under DUI suspension.
I approached the driver who provided me with his (license) that did ID him as Kurt Angle.
At this time, I was assisted on scene by (two other officers).
I ran Angle's license which did come back as being under DUI suspension.
I advised Angle of the nature of the call and if he violated a PFA that was put out on him.
Angle stated his ex-girlfriend, (name removed), and he had an altercation at his residence in Moon township last evening.
Angle then stated she used his vehicle and went downtown to obtain an emergency PFA on him.
He then stated he was removed from the residence by Moon Township Police.
I advised Angle that his girlfriend had called police and stated he was stalking her at the Giant Eagle lot.
Angle denied this and stated he was looking for a hotel to stay in and never saw her.
Angle blurted out that he had his girlfriend's cell phone even though I had not asked about it at the time.
Dispatch advised that (the victim) was at our station filing a formal written complaint.
Since Angle was under DUI suspension, a tow truck was called for his vehicle.
I checked the area where Angle was sitting incident to his arrest.
There was a medium sized bag that contained Angle's ID as well as numerous credit cards.
This was taken with Angle to avoid anything happening to his credit cards.
In the front seat there was a large zippered black bag.
Inside one of the compartments was a capped syringe and two vials of "Hygetropin" which also contained the label "recumbant Human Growth Hormone Somatropin for injection."
Angle was asked about this item and he stated that he had a legal prescription for it and would be able to provide a copy of it.
Angle was placed into custody for the PFA violation and the drug charges and taken to the Robinson Twp. Police Station without incident by (the officer).
The vehicle was removed from the scene. (An officer) did locate a maroon colored blackberry phone from the car which (the victim) did later ID as hers. It was turned over to her at the station.
At the Robinson Police Station, I spoke with (the victim).
(She) stated she was at the Starbucks Store at the Robinson Towne Center outside at a table using the internet because she was scared to use the computer at her residence as she was in fear of Angle.
At this time, she saw Angle circle the parking lot three times; staring at her while she was outside.
(She) stated she then hurriedly left the area and saw Angle in the silver Cadillac.
She drove to Crucible Research by Giant Eagle and observed Angle in the Giant Eagle parking lot "circling" in his vehicle.
She stated to me that she could see Angle accessing her cell phone that she left in the car and feared he was deleting her text messages and pictures she had of past abuse against Angle.
(She) stated she then called 911 to report the incident. Angle was processed without incident and lodged into a holding cell to await arraignment.
The two vials of "HGH" and the used capped syringe will be logged into evidence.
(The victim) was provided a victim's rights booklet which she signed for. (She) stated she was going to stay (at a different location).
I received a faxed copy of the emergency PFA from Moon Township Police as well as verification that Angle was served the PFA by Moon Police this date at approximately 6:19am.
I made a copy of the emergency PFA she obtained that will be posted in the active PFA section of the police department. I also did file an ICC complaint on Angle.
Kurt Angle released from jail on bond Posted by Randy Gordon on 08/15/2009 at 10:18 PM
According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Kurt Angle has been released from jail on bond following his arrest earlier today for driving with a suspended license, illegal possession, breaking an order of protection and harassment.
Angle will face a preliminary hearing scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday before District Judge Carla Swearingen in Robinson.
No one in TNA knows as of yet if Angle will make the TNA Hard Justice PPV on Sunday night. Kurt Angle, the current TNA World champion, is/was set to defend his title against Sting & Matt Morgan in the main event of the PPV.
Angle’s hearing on Tuesday means he will almost certainly miss the Impact taping that evening.
TNA World Champion Kurt Angle is in custody at the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh, still awaiting arraignment on the charges brought against him this morning. TNA sources believe he will be allowed to go to Florida for the pay-per-view tomorrow but are working on alternative plans if he can’t appear.
Several talents in TNA were surprised by the Angle arrest since he and the girlfriend are currently living together in Kurt’s home. There had been rumors among the wrestlers a few months back that Angle had asked her to leave his home but since then they had been seen together in public.
The big discussion today among the TNA talents is how ironic the whole thing is given the issues between Kurt and Jeff Jarrett over Karen Angle and that whole thing being exposed on Bubba the Love Sponge’s radio show. A lot of people are waiting to see how this arrest may play into Jeff’s position of power within the company.
More details on Kurt Angle's arrest Posted by Randy Gordon on 08/15/2009 at 04:32 PM
According to a criminal report filed in Pittsburgh today, Kurt Angle has been arrested and is currently in the Allegheny County Jail. There was an altercation at the home of Kurt Angle involving Angle and girlfriend, speculated to be TNA’s Rhaka Khan. Biggers went to police and filed a protection from abuse order against Angle, and police came and removed Angle from the home this morning.
At around 8AM, Biggers called police again, stating that Angle was stalking her. She had gone to a Starbucks to use the internet, and told police that Angle had her phone and had been circling the parking lot. She claimed Angle was deleting photos from the phone, which were described as “pictures of abuse”.
Angle was questioned by police, under suspicion of DUI, and when they searched the vehicle, they found used syringes and two vials of HGH. Angle claimed that he had a prescription for the medication, and could provide that to police.
Angle is currently awaiting arraignment on the following charges:
PWInsider.com is reporting that TNA star Kurt Angle was arrested this morning. Here is what they have reported about the incident:
"TNA champion Kurt Angle was arrested this morning after a female TNA star he was involved in, who had an active order of protection against him spotted Angle following her while she was at a Starbucks this morning.
According to a source at the Robsinson Township, PA police department, Angle was pulled over after the woman he allegedly stalked called police. The TNA champion was found carrying 'a capped syringe and two vials of Human Growth Hormone Hygetropin' in his car. Angle claimed he had a valid prescription for the HGH.
Angle has been charged with driving with a suspended license (stemming from his refusal to take a breathalyzer test during his DUI arrest last year, which is an automatic suspension), illegal possession of the HGH), breaking an order of protection and harassment."
As reported here yesterday, Taz has replaced Don West as the color commentator of TNA Wrestling. The change took place at Monday night's television tapings, as Taz called this week's iMPACT! taping along side Mike Tenay.
Taz posted a couple of comments on his Twitter page regarding his new position: "I am already LOVING my new role in TNA," Taz wrote. "I had a blast with Mike (Tenay) also. TNA will sound different starting Thursday."
Taz also addressed Don West, who he is replacing on air. "I'm also happy Don is TNA still. It shows the type of front office we have. Dude has been there for seven years. You don't just can him - promote him."
While Don West will no longer be calling the action from ringside, several sources have confirmed that he received a promotion in TNA's merchandising division and is not being let go.
United States Champion Kofi Kingston def. Carlito The Miz def. Evan Bourne Divas Champion Mickie James def. Gail Kim MVP def. Jack Swagger by disqualification Hornswoggle def. Chavo Guerrero (Falls Count Anywhere Match) WWE Champion Randy Orton & John Cena def. Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show
ST. LOUIS - Temperatures are seriously scorching with just six days left until the hottest happening this side of WrestleMania. That’s right, we’re talkin’ SummerSlam. In the run-up to the boiling brawl, Raw celebrity guest host Freddie Prinze Jr., turned up the oven and ripped off the knob.
WWE Champion Randy Orton & John Cena def. Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show (PHOTOS | WATCH) The summer humidity outside may have hung heavy in the Missouri air, but the tension inside was almost thick enough to choke on. As Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show sized up their opponents, WWE Champion Randy Orton & John Cena, The Viper and Cena were busy sizing up each other. And who could blame them?
Although Cena and Orton harbored obvious distrust, the WWE Universe voiced their opinion on WWE e-Vote, affirming that they felt the two would still manage to squeeze out a victory.
To add to the intrigue, Prinze Jr., bravely returned to establish the tag team bout as a Lumberjack Match with the ring surrounded by his handpicked Superstars, all with a suspicious eye on Orton.
Not only do Orton and Cena have a laundry list of complaints about one another, they’re set to square off in six days at SummerSlam. With a weary eye on their “partner,” both Orton and Cena tried to fend off the sizable challenge of their tag team tormentors. In the end, it was Cena who captured the victory for his team by pinning Jericho. True to form, however, The Viper RKO'd his partner to show his gratitude. As if to prove his mettle, Cena not only rebounded, he also tossed both Jericho and Big Show out of the ring.
Floyd “Money” Mayweather to host next week’s Raw (WATCH) The WWE Universe will remember Floyd “Money” Mayweather as the man who bloodied Big Show’s nose and defeated The World’s Largest Athlete at WrestleMania XXIV. Now they’ll also know him as Raw’s celebrity guest host one day after SummerSlam. Tune in Monday night to watch the boxing great take control.
Hornswoggle def. Chavo Guerrero (PHOTOS | WATCH) Oh, Chavo. Losing to a 4-foot-4-inch leprechaun seems to be taking its toll. This week, Guerrero found himself “facing” Hornswoggle, this time in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. The sly ‘Swoggle fled the ring early, heading toward the locker room area of the Scottrade Center. With Chavo in pursuit, Hornswoggle locked himself in a room. When Chavo finally opened the door, a can of paint swung down, knocking him unconscious, enabling Hornswoggle to score the victory. When he finally came to, he discovered that ‘Swoggle wasn’t to blame. Actually, the culprit appeared to be Prinze’s pal, Macaulay Culkin!
MVP def. Jack Swagger by disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH) Montel Vontavious Porter; the name alone seems like a lot to handle. And now Jack Swagger finds himself forced to handle more than just a name. After weeks of trading barbs, last week “The All-American American” underhandedly attacked MVP after his match against Chris Masters. This week, however, The Franchise Playa came prepared. MVP put in a solid effort against Swagger until the arrogant American refused to yield to the referee after displaying relentless aggression to get disqualified.
Divas Champion Mickie James def. Gail Kim (PHOTOS) Having teamed with Divas Champion Mickie James just two weeks prior, Gail Kim found herself facing down the sporty stunner for the title. While Kim’s efforts were impressive as usual, Mickie proved too powerful for the No. 1 contender and emerged with her title intact.
DX returned to Raw; The Legacy attacked (PHOTOS | WATCH) After months of seclusion, Shawn Michaels finally made his climactic return to D-Generation X and Monday Night Raw, much to the thrill of the WWE Universe. Any celebration, however, would prove short-lived. As Michaels and partner Triple H addressed the crowd, their SummerSlam opponents, The Legacy, attacked DX from behind. Then it was Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase’s turn at the microphone. They informed the stunned crowd that yes, they ARE ready.
The Miz def. Evan Bourne (PHOTOS | WATCH) The Miz swears up and down that he’s, well, awesome! And now, he’s out to prove it. After getting banned from Raw two weeks ago, the self-important Superstar earned his way back on the program by defeating Eugene in a WWE Contract-on-a-Pole Match. Now, he claims he will become United States Champion and started by facing off against Evan Bourne. Despite the unpredictable nature of “Air” Bourne, Miz grounded the high-flyer for the victory.
United States Champion Kofi Kingston def. Carlito (PHOTOS | WATCH) Before succumbing to Randy Orton’s rage, Raw celebrity guest host Freddie Prinze Jr., arranged for United States Champion Kofi Kingston to defend his title against Carlito. The Caribbean quarrel pitted the jumping Jamaican against a Superstar who lately has shown little respect for anything or anyone, even his brother. A crowd favorite, Kingston managed to overcome the Boriqua Brother to avoid any trouble in paradise.
Raw celebrity guest host Freddie Prinze Jr., refused WWE Champion Randy Orton’s demand, suffered attack (PHOTOS | WATCH) As the star of such movies as I Know What You Did Last Summer and She’s All That as well as the upcoming season of Fox’s 24, Prinze greeted the enthusiastic crowd in the Scottrade Center and fielded an impromptu acting audition from Santino Marella before being confronted by WWE Champion Randy Orton. The Viper appeared more than a little ticked at the prospect of having to pair with SummerSlam opponent John Cena against Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show and not the least bit shy about letting Prinze Jr. know it.
The actor and lifelong WWE fan, however, refused to back down, which seemed only to provoke the erratic Orton and prompted an attack that left Prinze Jr., immobile on the canvas. The actor was subsequently taken to a local medical facility for observation.
As noted earlier, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling has decided to let Don West go as an announcer. This week's television tapings will be his last broadcasts for the company. Mike Tenay and Taz will be the announcing team going forward.
Since 2002, West has worked for TNA, providing color commentary alongside Tenay during episodes of Impact and pay-per-views.
I'm told that West will remain with the company and received a promotion in the merchandising department.
Former WWE Diva Kristal Marshall (Lashley's girlfriend) wrote on her Twitter account on Tuesday that she's going to "make a debut soon." Earlier, she also wrote: "Just got some super duper news today! Let's just say it's a page turner!" Marshall appears to have wrestling on her mind as we reported earlier that Vince McMahon has been incredibly frustrated as of late with WWE's inability to create new Superstars. Marshall apparently read the report as she wrote the following on her Twitter account: "Sorry Vince stars are born not created...."
- Daniels won the X-Division Steel Asylum Match - Abyss defeated Jethro Holliday - Hernandez defeated Big Rob of The British Invasion - IWGP Tag Title: The British Invasion defeated Beer Money, Inc - Knockouts Title: ODB and Cody Deaner won, defeating The Beautiful People - X Title: Samoa Joe won the title, defeating Homicide - Tag Tam Title: Scott Steiner & Booker T retained over Team 3D - Legends Title: Kevin Nash won the title, defeating Mick Foley - World Title: Kurt Angle retained over Sting and Matt Morgan
COMPLETE PAY-PER-VIEW RESULTS:
- In the most insane and daredevil Steel Asylum match thus far in TNA history, Daniels came out the winner to earn a shot at the X Division Championship. The match was highlighted by the debut of "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero (who kept Suicide from winning the bout), as well as Daniels hanging upside down from the top of the cage!
