TNA officials appeared to be interested in the services of the Ultimate Warrior when he announced his return to wrestling a few weeks ago, but these days it looks to be a dead issue. They aren't talking about bringing him in anymore, so it doesn't look like it's going to happening.[/

San Jose, Calif. – In the night’s main event featuring Batista against Chavo Guerrero, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero swayed the odds heavily against The Animal by naming World Heavyweight Champion Edge as the special guest referee. The scheduled referee, Charles Robinson, had been conveniently taken out of commission earlier in the night in a match the GM ordered between Robinson and The Great Khali.
And, in typical Guerrero fashion, Batista’s match included a stipulation: If he laid a hand on Edge during the bout, he would lose his chance to face the Rated-R Superstar for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions.
Although Batista held his own against Chavo, “The Family’s” influence proved to be too much to overcome. After being counted out of the match by guest referee Edge’s fast count, Batista suffered a 5-on-1 attack from “The Family,” capped off with a brutal spear from the Ultimate Opportunist. (WATCH)
If Vickie can continue to use her power to orchestrate things on SmackDown, how might she affect things at Night of Champions and even at The Granddaddy of Them All, WrestleMania XXV? And with three days until the WWE Draft, is Guerrero’s job going to be someone else’s after Monday Night?
Disenfranchised playa It seems as though no one is immune from the vindictive ways of SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. Montel Vontavious Porter felt her wrath as she ordered him to face ECW Champion Kane. Despite all his self-promoting talk on the night’s edition of MVP’s VIP Lounge, SmackDown’s Franchise Playa proved to be no match for the Big Red Machine, deciding to get counted out rather than face the fires of the ECW Champion.
Then, after picking up the win, Kane had to deal with his own vindictive adversary, Mark Henry, who was out for payback for the double-chokeslam he received from Kane and Big Show earlier in the week on ECW. (WATCH)
Debut loss In his first one-on-one match, Bam Neely took on United States Champion Matt Hardy. Looking on was Chavo Guerrero – Hardy’s Night of Champions opponent. But, Chavo proved to be more hindrance than help to his family member, as he attracted the attention of referee Charles Robinson who ejected him from ringside. With Bam distracted by Guerrero’s ejection, Hardy capitalized by delivering a hard-hitting Twist of Fate to pick up the win.
Ref ordered to wrestle In a shocking move, Guerrero ordered WWE referee Charles Robinson to face action on SmackDown. While meeting with Robinson in her office, Guerrero expressed concern at what she perceived as Robinson’s lack of objectivity in Edge’s matches against Undertaker at WrestleMania XXIV and Judgment Day. She was also unhappy about Robinson ejecting Chavo from ringside earlier in the night. “You need to experience how it feels from a Superstar’s perspective,” she said.
Robinson had no choice but to follow the GM’s orders, even without knowing who his opponent would be. As he anxiously awaited the start of his first-ever match, he learned Guerrero picked none other than The Great Khali to face him. In an extreme mismatch, the 420-pound Punjabi Giant destroyed Robinson using a clothesline, head butt, Khali Chop and Khali Vise Grip. The brutal assault required Robinson to be removed from the ring on a stretcher. (WATCH) More on Charles Robinson’s condition…
Bringing the pain Just like she did a few weeks ago on SmackDown, Michelle McCool defeated Layla using a heel hook to make her submit. The All-American Diva’s win attracted the attention of Natalya, who looked on from the ramp after the match. With the upcoming live three-hour WWE Draft on the next episode of Raw, the SmackDown Diva roster could be totally shaken up as the Sexiest Women on Television vie for the new Divas Championship. More on the WWE Draft…
Streak continues All things must come to an end, but don’t tell Vladimir Kozlov. The man from Moscow chalked up another win by defeating Jamie Noble, bringing his undefeated SmackDown record to 11-0. While leaping from the top rope, Noble was met with a vicious head butt from Kozlov, leaving Noble writhing in agony after the match ended. More on Jamie Noble’s condition…
Tag team’s demise? The growing dissention between tag team partners Deuce & Domino came to a head after their loss to Jesse & Festus. After Festus pinned Domino, Deuce delivered a Crack em’ in da’ Mouth to Domino. Deuce then tossed his leather jacket over his fallen comrade’s face as if to signal the end of the partnership of the once tag team champions.
Looking for gold With WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison on commentary, he watched his partner, The Miz, take on Finlay. With tensions high surrounding the upcoming tag team title match at Night of Champions, Morrison jumped up from the announce table in the middle of the match to go after Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle retaliated by whacking Morrison in the knee with a shillelagh. The action outside the ring distracted The Miz, allowing Finlay to capitalize and deliver a Celtic Cross to pick up the pinfall.
TNA WRESTLING “iMPACT!” RESULTS FOR 6/19/08 By Charles Rice
As iMPACT! kicked off this week, many of Total Nonstop Action wrestling’s finest had one thought on their minds…revenge.
That is something that is easier said than achieved as many of the stars of the six sided ring would soon find out. Watch the videos, then scroll down for complete results!
The night began with the still unmarried Jay Lethal waiting for his former best friend, Sonjay Dutt, to show up so he could exact his revenge on for ruining his wedding a few weeks ago at Slmmiversary. Although Dutt had yet to arrive, Lethal promised he would make this a night that Dutt would never forget.
The first match of the night featured the number one contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Booker T, squaring off against fellow veteran wrestler BG James. Booker attacked James before he could even get in the ring and from there it was nothing but the Booker show. Every time James would start to get in any kind of offense, Booker would quickly combat it. In the end it was the axe kick by Booker that put BG away for good.
It was no surprise that “The Samoan Submission Machine” and current TNA Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe was in the locker room in the back watching the match intently.
Afterwards, Jeremy Borash was trying to interview Joe on whether he thought he could beat Booker or not. It was a short lived interview that was interrupted by Joe’s former mentor “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash. Joe made it clear he was tired of Nash always saying things but never backing them up, upon which he challenged Nash to get in the ring with Booker and beat him himself. Never one to back down from a challenge, Nash accepted Joe’s challenge. He said that next week on iMPACT! he would show why, “A veteran makes this a mental not a physical game.” He encouraged Joe to watch saying he may be able to learn something.
Although many emotions were running wild this week on iMPACT! it was also a very exciting night for TNA. It was the kick off for the return of the World X Cup, although last week there were some preview matches, tonight was when the fun really started. In the first round of action it was The Motor City Machine Guns representing Team TNA going up against Davari and Tyson Duxx of Team International. This was a match that showed why the Motor City Machine Guns are one of the quickest rising teams in TNA today. In a match where there were many near falls and many quick tags in and out, it was Team TNA that prevailed in the end when Alex Shelley hit the sliced bread on Davari. While TNA is now up in the tournament, it is far from over.
At one point during the previous match backstage cameras cut away from the action and showed AJ Styles attacking Tomko from behind while he had been lifting weights in the training room. Right after the match cameras caught up once again with AJ who was this time in the parking lot attacking Kurt Angle. Or was he? It turned out that the man AJ had attacked from behind was not Angle after all, but Angle’s friend with the similar bald head, mixed martial arts fighter, Frank Trigg.
After a video package is shown highlighting the career of Gail Kim to date, Mike Tenay and Don West are shown conducting an interview with Karen Angle via satellite because she is at home recovering from Awesome Kong’s attack on her last week. She admits that while she was scared for her life she will not give Kurt the satisfaction of leaving TNA because that is what he wants. She also stands fast behind her statement that there is nothing going on between her and AJ.
We once again see Jay Lethal still waiting for Sonjay Dutt to show up at the Pink Taco but his patience is beginning to wear as we see him throwing bottles and other stuff around out of frustration.
Meanwhile, back at the iMPACT! Zone, Jim Cornette has made his way to the ring and has invited out the TNA Tag Team Champions, the LAX. After LAX along with Hector and Salinas come out to the ring, Cornette announces that their request has been granted. There will be a very special fan’s revenge lumberjack strap match at Victory Road featuring LAX against Robert Roode and “Cowboy” James Storm. (For more details on what this is and how to enter the contest, check out tnawrestling.com in the coming days for more details as they become available.) Hector says LAX is ready for this because after what happened to him and LAX last week, all Roode and Storm did was awaken the Latino fire within.
Cornette then invites Roode and Storm down to the ring to make the match official. However, the only person that comes down to the ring is “the Pride of Tennessee” Jackie. After Cornette questions her on where the other two are, she and Salinas get into a battle of words. This leads to a match being made between the two for later that night.
Another week and another edition of Awesome Kong’s $25,000 fan challenge is underway. The fan selected is a pretty blonde named Taylor. In a match that looks like we might finally have an upset on our hands, Kong is taken to the limit. After Taylor was able to escape two Awesome Bombs and take Kong off her feet several times, she met her match when a third attempt at an Awesome Bomb from Kong resulted in the pin fall. None the less, Taylor put on quite a showing getting in several chair shots and near falls on Kong.
Backstage cameras catch Team 3D standing over a motionless Rhino who has been put through a table. Both men are standing there mocking him. It seems as if they have taken Rhino out of action for their main event match later in the night against him and Christian Cage.
In another area of the backstage, Jeremy Borash finds Sonjay Dutt and asks him why he hasn’t gone to face Lethal at the Pink Taco. Sonjay says he is a guru and that means he is full of love not violence. He tells JB that Jay will have to forgive him because Val loves him just like he loves her.
In another preview match for the World X Cup, Kaz took on Alex Koslov. In a match that showed both men pulling out all the stops while trying to gain momentum for their teams, Kaz was able to pull off the victory when he connected with a Wave of the Future on Koslov.
Christian Cage is seen backstage and says that while many look at Rhino being taken out of action, he sees it as “ A phenomenal opportunity.” Does cage have an ace up his sleeve?
In a special edition of rough cut, Matt Morgan is featured talking about how he had A.D.D. as a kid and was a successful basketball player. The second part of that interview will be shown next week on iMPACT!
Finally, Sonjay had arrived at the Pink Taco and somehow he was able to convince Jay to hear him out. After, listening to Sonjay speak, he seemed to have heard enough when Sonjay said that Val loved him and not Jay. Upon saying that, Dutt was met with a hand to the face and an all out war broke loose. Both men brawled all over the Pink Taco and eventually Jay smashed Dutt through the door. Somehow we later found out that Dutt managed to escape from the Taco in one piece.
In another backstage interview, Team 3D makes it clear that Christian Cage isn’t surprising anyone. They know that he was insinuating that AJ Styles was going to be his partner and that they were happy about it. They said they enjoyed beating up AJ and would do it again during the match.
In Knockouts competition, Jackie and Salinas had an all out battle. Both women exchanged blows and kicks and lefts and rights. In the end it was Jackie who walked out victorious after making Salinas tap out. Still, Jackie wasn’t done. She proceeded to take off her belt and once again a member of LAX, this time Salinas, got whipped.
In the main event of the night, Team 3D’s prediction came true. It was Christian Cage and his new partner, AJ Styles taking on Team 3D. This match was one that showed not only a back and forth battle between the two teams, but also several new attitudes. First, AJ continued showing that he was no longer everybody’s sidekick but that he was his own person not to be messed with. However, an even larger note showed that he and Cage had made peace, and cage looked at him as an equal now. There new found respect for each other led them to a hard fought victory over Team 3D. Still it did not come easily, and it is a fair assumption to say that all these men will meet again somewhere down the line.
While AJ may have gotten some of his revenge tonight, the night would once again end in a common theme for iMPACT! as of late. AJ would be left lying battered and bruised on the mat. For, after the match, Frank Trigg came out to confront AJ. This gave Kurt the opportunity he needed to come from behind and lock an ankle lock onto AJ. As iMPACT! went off the air, Kurt once again stood tall over AJ and could be heard saying, “If you’re looking for me, you found me.”
While not everyone got the revenge they sought this week on iMPACT! there will be plenty more opportunities next week. As the stars of TNA gear up for Victory Road live on Pay-Per-View from Houston, Texas on July 13th, stayed tuned to the Web site and iMPACT! every week as more matches and details are announced. If you missed this week’s iMPACT! make sure you watch the re-play on Spike TV this Saturday night. Check your local listings for times.
-- Regarding Carlito's comments on Triple H's position with World Wrestling Entertainment and his marriage to Stephanie McMahon at a press conference last week, a large percentage of the WWE roster share the same sentiments. However, there is a key difference as they keep their feelings to themselves and say it in private. A number of people have strong feelings over Triple H's position in the company, but it's a subject matter that almost everyone is smart enough to never talk about publicly as it's practically political suicide.
Ted DiBiase, Jr.'s mystery tag team part for his WWE World Tag Team title shot at the Night of Champions pay-per-view is expected to be DH Smith, who was pulled off the road in early May following an apparent injury angle at the egregious hands of JBL.
Additionally, there is a fan report going around online saying that some fans met Ted DiBiase, Jr. at a local establishment down the road from the arena in Oakland after the 6/9 Raw. When asked who his partner will be at Night of Champions he simply said "the son of a Bulldog," who you'd have to assume is DH Smith. On WWE.com last week, the Ted DiBiase hyperlink on the match preview page took you to DH Smith's bio page on the website when clicked.[/
After signing with WWE in late January, former TNA wrestler Chris Harris has finally reported to Florida Championship Wrestling after sitting on the sidelines for over four months. He wrestled Kafu at last night's FCW show in New Port Richey, FL. The report on him is that he is still a little heavy. WWE officials were reportedly upset with him regarding his weight gain, feeling that he didn't take care of himself well enough. Back in March, he wrestled in a singlet in his first dark match with the company to hide his gut.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Less than two weeks before their Night of Champions match, ECW Champion Kane and Big Show took part in a colossal staredown on ECW on Sci Fi. General Manager Theodore Long offered the Night of Champions opponents an open forum to speak their minds before next Sunday.
Big Show pointed out that he’s been an opponent, partner and champion alongside Kane, but now the Big Red Machine has something he wants – the ECW Championship. The World’s Largest Athlete – who said he went through hell to earn his Night of Champions match – promised he’ll take back the Extreme gold next Sunday. Kane, determined to retain, had these words for Big Show: “Well, big man, hell is standing right here in front of you.”
While the two Superstars stood toe-to-toe in the middle of the ECW ring, Mark Henry marched down the ramp with an important message: save your strength.
“Because if I’m not drafted Monday night, you can bet your bottom dollar that after Night of Champions, whichever one of you two is holding the ECW title, I’m coming after,” the World’s Strongest Man claimed.
The Big Red Machine and his Night of Champions opponent didn’t take Henry’s big statement lightly, as the duo brutally double-chokeslammed him to the ECW mat, before continuing their staredown.
In other ECW action, Matt Striker thought he’d teach a lesson or two to newcomer Evan Bourne. But “Your Teacher’s” lesson plan went awry when the high-flying youngster hit Striker with a standing moonsault and a shooting star press for the pin to win the match. But Bourne’s celebration was cut short when Mike Knox – who Bourne beat last week in tag action with Kofi Kingston – entered the ring and attacked him.
Knox’s assault on Bourne fired him up for his upcoming bout with Kingston, but their match was interrupted by the Superstar who ended Kingston’s winning streak – Shelton Benjamin. ECW’s Gold Standard attacked the Jamaican Superstar mid-match, leading to Kingston’s win by disqualification. But during their scuffle, Benjamin accidentally kicked Knox, allowing Kingston to escape the ring. (WATCH)
Also on Tuesday night, former General Manager Armando Estrada continued to try to impress new GM Theodore Long when he faced Hornswoggle. But Estrada and Hornswoggle’s match quickly turned into a virtual comedy routine, when SmackDown’s littlest Superstar stole Estrada’s cigar, broke it in half and boldly threw it at him. Then Estrada tripped and fell when Hornswoggle tossed a bucket of marbles on the ground. The shenanigans – complete with a blow-up shillelagh, water pistols and Finlay – finally ended after Hornswoggle hit Estrada with a tadpole splash off the top rope for the win, giving the small Superstar momentum going into his WWE Tag Team Championship match at Night of Champions.
One-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, John Morrison, who will defend his gold alongside The Miz against Hornswoggle & Finlay next Sunday, met CM Punk this week on ECW. Mr. Money in the Bank took his briefcase all the way to the Extreme winner’s circle on Tuesday when he hit the Shaman of Sexy with a Go To Sleep for the win. An angry Miz came to his fellow Tag Champ’s side after his loss to proclaim they will remain WWE Tag Team Champions at Night of Champions.
John Cena def. Umaga in a Street Fight Jeff Hardy def. Carlito World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes def. Cryme Tyme Paul & Katie Lea Burchill def. Mr. Kennedy & Mickie James WWE Champion Triple H vs. Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho was a no contest due to outside interference
SALT LAKE CITY – In a rare champion vs. champion encounter, WWE Champion Triple H and Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho went head-to-head on Raw in a non-title match that ended with Lance Cade’s unexpected interference. Despite the emergence of John Cena, who came to aid his Night of Champions opponent, it was Y2J’s alliance with the hostile former World Tag Team Champion that stood tall.
The Game and Y2J’s confrontation grew out of Jericho’s behavior last week, when he brutalized Shawn Michaels, smashing his head into the Jeri-Tron 6000. Jericho was initially confronted on Raw by Ric Flair in the “Nature Boy’s” return to WWE for the first time since retiring. As the Intercontinental Champion headed out to fight Flair in the parking lot, he was confronted by an angry Triple H, spoiling for a fight. While Y2J’s encounter with Flair never happened as a result of Mr. McMahon having The Dirtiest Player in the Game escorted out of the arena, the WWE Chairman set up Triple H vs. Chris Jericho for that very night.
The match came to a finish not with a Pedigree or Walls of Jericho, but with the surprise involvement of Lance Cade, who rushed in to attack Triple H while both The Game and Chris Jericho were outside the ring. As Y2J and Cade brutalized Triple H, John Cena entered the ring and dropped both of The Cerebral Assassin’s attackers, only to be assaulted by Triple H himself. While their opponents were distracted with each other, the unusual alliance of Jericho and Cade took advantage of the situation and put them both down. (WATCH)
Dismantling The Samoan Bulldozer Cena barely had time to recover from his match earlier that night, a Street Fight against Umaga. The two men fought as relentlessly and brutally as that match stipulation requires, but in the end, it was John Cena who came out on top, pinning Umaga and showing The Cerebral Assassin exactly what he’ll have to compete against at Night of Champions in just two short weeks. (WATCH)
Getting Back on Track Another Night of Champions match will feature World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes defending their titles against Ted DiBiase and a partner of his choice, who has yet to be revealed. Though past weeks have seen the champions struggling in the ring, Monday night was a return to form as they defeated Cryme Tyme in a non-title match. DiBiase continued to be a regular face around the ring however, entering the arena and standing by during his future opponents’ bout.
Burchill Beatdown The night’s second tag match was an intergender confrontation between Mr. Kennedy & WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James and the team of Paul & Katie Lea Burchill. Since defeating their friend and former GM William Regal, Mr. Kennedy has been on the Burchills’ bad side. The British siblings were victorious in this match-up, continuing their rivalry with Kennedy and making things look a little more dismal for Mickie at Night of Champions in her championship match against Katie Lea.
Carlito Crashes Raw also saw a confrontation between former Intercontinental Champions Jeff Hardy and Carlito. Hardy has been making a tremendous showing lately on Raw, just narrowly missing out on No. 1 contender status for the WWE Championship two weeks ago, but managing to take out both Triple H and John Cena last week. He continued to give the audience what they wanted by pinning Carlito for the win.
Divas Show Off In what was surely the hottest competition of the night, the WWE Divas participated in a Summertime Beach Bikini Blowout, including Maria, Eve, Jillian, Layla, Lena Yada, Maryse and Melina. In spite of Jillian trying to serenade the audience, it was a beautiful contest, with special host Charlie Haas announcing the winner as the lovely Maria. (WATCH)
Million Dollar Mania Marches On Though WWE fans are always delighted by explosive matches and beautiful women, for the second week in a row what had them all jumping out of their seats was Mr. McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania. Over the course of the night, the WWE Chairman gave away $1 million of his own money to Raw fans viewing at home, going on to announce that even with the 2008 WWE Draft next week, there’s nothing stopping him from doing it all again. While all Superstars, Divas and even announcers will be eligible for the Draft, you are still eligible to win your share of $1 million. Make sure to sign up today, and be sure to read all about this week’s winners.
