Kofi Kingston def. Local The Miz def. Colin Delaney Stevie Richards def. James Curtis Ric Flair & CM Punk def. Elijah Burke & Shelton Benjamin
SAN DIEGO Tuesday was a night in which experience prevailed, as the Nature Boy Ric Flair made a memorable appearance just one day after being named to the 2008 WWE Hall of Fame class.
By contrast with the 16-time World Champion, the gutsy Colin Delaney's inexperience took a toll on him when he faced The Miz in one-on-one action. The last time Delaney, Tommy Dreamer, The Miz and John Morrison were all called to the ring, Dreamer emerged victorious with the hopeful Superstar in his corner. The luck changed tonight, however, when the self-proclaimed "Chick Magnet" notched a win and added insult to injury or more injury to injury by beating down Delaney and Dreamer with the help of his co-WWE Tag Team Champion.
Another young Superstar was in action, but had a better outing. Kofi Kingston continued his winning streak, remaining undefeated since joining the extreme brand. So far, ECW has truly been a paradise for the Jamaican competitor. After his victory, Kingston stood in the middle of the ring with Joey Styles and announced, "ECW to me is like paradise ... if there's trouble in paradise, you know Kofi Kingston is going to take care of it."
Stevie Richards, on the other hand, is as experienced as Superstars get. The ECW Original earned his second consecutive victory since making his return to the ring following his recovery from throat surgery. Richards is once again forced to prove himself. So far, it doesnt appear this go-around will be any different from the other times Stevie overcame adversity and succeeded.
Speaking of experience, Maria has taken advantage of a major opportunity to pose for Playboy. Kelly Kelly congratulated her on her contract and said she wouldnt be opposed if she had the chance to pose, one day.
The night concluded with Flair adding another win to the most impressive résumé in sports-entertainment history. Alongside CM Punk, the Nature Boy put Shelton Benjamin & Elijah Burke in their place. More on this story ...
Jeff Hardy def. Snitsky (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match) Paul Burchill def. Super Crazy Mr. Kennedy def. Val Venis (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match) Mr. McMahon vs. Hornswoggle (No Contest) John Cena def. Randy Orton
ANAHEIM, Calif. For anyone with a sense of family or decency having to watch a distraught Finlay carry Hornswoggles tiny, unmoving body from the ring Monday night must have left them with icy chills and a sad, sick feeling in the pit of their stomach.
A week prior, a humiliated Mr. McMahon arranged a Steel Cage Match with his bastard son after losing to Hornswoggle in a No Disqualification Match. In that bout, Finlay had intervened on behalf of his lucky charm despite threats by the Chairman that he would be fired if he did.
This week, Mr. McMahon ensured solitude for him and his bastard son and dished out the most brutal form of tough love, thanks to the confines of the steel cage and of all people, JBL. With despair haunting in his eyes, Finlay could only plead in vain to end the cruelty.
But JBL stomped his boot down on the Irishmans plan, attacking him and handcuffing him to the ring ropes. The Lonestar Loudmouth then lumbered into the cage, where he rammed Hornswoggle against the unforgiving steel. The brutality proved so great that even Mr. McMahon was take aback.
Only after the Chairman and JBL had moved from the ring, did Finlay, in a moving display of compassion, free himself and carry his fallen friend to the locker room, where Hornswoggle was evaluated with head trauma and internal injuries (WWE.com will have more updates on his condition as they become available). Bank Shot The night after nearly winning in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, Jeff Hardy flew into Raw to prove that he is far from grounded. The Rainbow-haired Warrior conquered the yuck-mouthed ogre, Snitsky, to qualify for this year's Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania. PHOTOS | WATCH
Hall Monitor Shawn Michaels did the honors as he announced that Ric Flair will become the first member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2008. The Nature Boy also becomes the first active competitor to be inducted. WATCH
Sibling Revelry Paul Burchill sure knows how to please his sister, Katie Lea. For the second week in a row, the British brawler defeated his opponent. This week, Super Crazy was sacrificed for Katie Leas delight.
Big Showdown After having his nose crushed at No Way Out, the returning Big Show was fuming and ready to confront the man who bloodied him, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather. As the two exchanged unpleasantries, Big Show challenged the Pretty Boy to a match, which Mayweather accepted. Stay tuned.
Banking On It Mr. Kennedy may not have retired Ric Flair in their Career Threatening Match at No Way Out, but he did make a statement the following night on Raw. The loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis., defeated Val Venis in the night's second Money in the Bank qualifying match.
Playboy 1, Santino 0 WWE fans rejoice! Maria will be posing for Playboy sometime this Spring. In a cynical play, her boyfriend Santino Marella agreed to let her pose if she could defeat Womens Champion Beth Phoenix. The tall order looked impossible until Candice Michelle made her long-awaited return to Raw, and, in an attempt to avenge herself against the Diva who put her on the shelf for four months, she distracted The Glamazon long enough for Maria to take advantage and secure the pinfall.
Threes Company After Randy Orton robbed John Cena of a chance at the main event at WrestleMania XXIV by slapping the referee and getting disqualified in their match at No Way Out, Raw General Manager William Regal arranged a non-title bout between the two Monday with Triple H serving as guest referee. As The Champ pinned Orton, The Game intensely stared him down and reluctantly gave him the three-count. Cenas win sets up a Triple Threat Title Match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
Rey Mysterio's Wrestlemania status revealed Posted by Bobby Spade on 02/19/2008 at 02:09 AM
Rey Mysterio will not be wrestling at WrestleMania after all. Mysterio is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair his torn biceps muscle this Friday, reports prowrestling.NET. He will miss between four and six months. After missing WrestleMania last year
There are fears in WWE about Rey Mysterio's ability to stay healthy. He had been working a reduced travel schedule as requested, and yet suffered another serious injury. Despite the torn biceps, Mysterio, 33, doesn't want to go through with the surgery right now, and prefers to work Wrestlemania this year since he missed the event last year.
HOUSTON With No Way Out just two days away, and the biggest Elimination Chamber in history looming, all six of the Superstars scheduled to compete in the sadistic structure saw action on SmackDown.
Chamber opponents Batista and United States Champion MVP kicked off SmackDown in a one-on-one contest. The Animal and the Ballin Superstar had hopes of gaining momentum before fighting this Sunday for the right to become No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship. And while MVP believes that winning the richest prize in the game is his destiny, the stars were aligned for Batista on Friday night.
After MVP seized control of the match and looked to steal a victory from the former World Champion, The Animal turned the tables and delivered a thunderous Batista Bomb to silence the cocky MVP and get the win. (WATCH)
Another Superstar hoping that his path to a title match at WrestleMania XXIV goes through the Elimination Chamber is Undertaker. On SmackDown, The Phenom stayed the course when he defeated ECWs lone Chamber representative, Big Daddy V. The rivalry between the two behemoths has been fierce and brutal, and The Dominating Force in WWE found out weeks ago on SmackDown that Undertaker is more dangerous and focused than ever when he was bloodied by The Deadmans newest submission maneuver.
The final two participants in the unprecedented second Elimination Chamber on Sunday in Las Vegas, Finlay and The Great Khali, revisited their volatile rivalry on SmackDown when they went toe-to-toe. The Irishman once again received an assist from Hornswoggle, whom Finlay saved from Mr. McMahon this past Monday night. (WATCH) With the referee distracted by the Chairmans illegitimate son, Finlay nailed Khali with the shillelagh to get the win.
All six Superstars are headed to the most dangerous match in WWE on Sunday when they step into the Elimination Chamber, and the stakes have never been higher with a trip to WrestleMania XXIV and World Heavyweight Championship opportunity on the line.
Trial by fire As CM Punk continues his pursuit of ECW Champion Chavo Guerreros title, the Straightedge Superstar enlisted the help of Kane in tag action against Chavo & Shelton Benjamin on SmackDown. After showing Chavo up yet again this past Tuesday on ECW on Sci Fi, Punk gained another leg up with the Big Red Monster in his corner, as the duo defeated the ECW Champion and ECWs Gold Standard, when Punk hit the Go To Sleep on Chavo.
Beatings and salutations Last week, Michelle McCool watched in horror as Chuck Palumbo decimated her friend Jamie Noble. On SmackDown, the All-American Diva took on Victoria and McCools former friend, Palumbo, who made his presence known when he rode his motorcycle to ringside. Palumbos distraction allowed Victoria to hit the Widows Peak on McCool for the victory. Then, after her loss, McCool received another caution from the revved-up Superstar, who warned the beatings on her friend, Jamie Noble, will continue.
Eight-Man euphoria Looking to get back on track after two consecutive losses, Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore joined forces with Jesse & Festus to take on the foursome of Deuce & Domino and Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder. SmackDowns resident redneck picked up the win for his team when he hit a Moonsault on Domino. After the match was over, a brawl ensued, but Jesse rang the bell once more, and the new Festus unleashed his aggression on their opponents. (WATCH)
Baby, youre all that I want The World Heavyweight Champion promised he would ask a life-altering question on SmackDown, and the controversial Edge delivered, asking General Manager Vickie Guerrero to marry him. With the Rated-R Superstars proposal, all seemed well for the happy couple, until Rey Mysterio voiced his disgust with the revelation. Edge attacked, and Rey fought back, delivering a 619 to the champion. When the Master of the 619 attempted to fly to take down his No Way Out opponent, Edge took the ultimate opportunity to get out of the line of fire, leaving his lover and future wife in Reys path. Rey Mysterio suffered an apparent biceps injury at last night's SmackDown/ECW brand house show in Santiago, Chile. He is returning to the states to be medically evaluated. Mysterio is scheduled to wrestle Edge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday at No Way Out.
Here is WWE.com's statement regarding Mysterio's sudden injury:
Rey Mysterio injured during South American tour Written: February 14, 2008
Rey Mysterios quest to regain the World Championship may have suffered a severe setback in Santiago, Chile, on Wednesday night.
The injury occurred during Wednesdays live event at Arena Santiago, where Mysterio teamed with Kane against Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins. During the tag contest, Rey suffered an apparent injury to his right arm " specifically his bicep. Clearly in pain, the Master of the 619 gutted it out and finished the match, then was quickly examined by WWE athletic trainer Jason Crivello upon leaving the ring.
Mysterio flew back to the United States late Wednesday night, and is currently in Gulf Breeze, Fla., waiting to meet with world-renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who will determine the extent of the injury. Regardless of Dr. Andrews findings, Mysterio has his heart set on competing this Sunday night at No Way Out, where he is scheduled to face Edge for the World Championship.

Thursday, 20 September 2007 NEWS FROM THURSDAY'S "iMPACT!" BROADCAST ON SPIKE TV The main event is made official for the Destination X Pay-Per-View By Bill Banks
There are several major news items to report from Thursday's "iMPACT!" broadcast on SpikeTV:
Kurt and Karen Angle renewed their wedding vows on the special Valentine's Day broadcast, but in the end it was AJ Styles and Karen Angle being pronounced man and wife! In addition, is it the end of Abyss after the monster threw down his mask and walked out on Thursday night? Plus, new matches were also made for the Destination X Pay-Per-View event! More details are below...
- TNA Management Director Jim Cornette once again attempted to get Samoa Joe to sign his new contract on the broadcast, but this time Christian Cage interrupted the ceremony. Cage asked Joe to help him get revenge on Kurt Angle, Tomko and AJ Styles for what happened at Against All Odds, and Joe agreed since he felt somewhat at fault for allowing Tomko to get involved.
- Speaking of Tomko, he revealed his reasons why he cost Cage the bout at the PPV, claiming it was years of anger along with the fact Cage interfered in Tomko's recent match with Angle without permission, then took credit for Tomko's win. Later, Tomko met with Angle and told him he would rejoin the Angle Alliance, but on the condition that Tomko was his own man and that Angle wouldn't dare tell him what to say or do.
- It was scheduled to be Cage and Joe facing TNA World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Tomko later that night, but Cage was attacked backstage prior to the bout. It ended up being Joe and Kevin Nash taking on the champs, who won after TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle interfered on their behalf.
- After the bout, Samoa Joe made a challenge for the main event at the Destination X event, as it will be Samoa Joe, Christian Cage and Kevin Nash taking on The Angle Alliance of Angle, Styles and Tomko.
- Later in the broadcast, Kurt and Karen Angle renewed their wedding vows - but Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash came out to ruin the ceremony. Amidst the chaos, the minister lost his glasses and accidentally pronounced AJ Styles and Karen Angle as husband and wife! AJ planted a big kiss on Karen as Kurt - who had been stripped down to his boxers by Joe and Nash - looked on in disbelief!
- Also on Thursday, Abyss was slated to take on "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner, but Abyss seemingly had a change of heart before the match and wouldn't go to the ring. Instead, Abyss turned his back to the crowd...took off his mask and dropped it...and left the arena without a word to anyone! Have James Mitchell and Judas Mesias finally run Abyss out of TNA?
- After Abyss left, Scott Steiner decided to take the opportunity to introduce his newest freak - Rhaka Khan! Steiner then put out a challenge to anyone in the back to face him - resulting in "Maple Leaf Muscle" Petey Williams hitting the ring to seek revenge. Steiner ended up beating Williams after Khan distracted him, but this time in a surprising move, Steiner actually gave respect to Williams for the battle!
- "The War Machine" Rhino made his TNA return and blamed "Cowboy" James Storm for the personal issues he's been going through - and challenged Storm to face him in the Elevation X match at the Pay-Per-View!
- Team 3D was scheduled to face Curry Man and Shark Boy in tag team action, but due to the stipulations of their loss at Against All Odds, Team 3D had to weigh in under 275 pounds. Brother Devon made the cut when he got on the scale, but Brother Ray didn't - so Devon had to compete on his own in a handicap match. Devon was able to get the win after Brother Ray smashed Shark Boy with the scale.
- A very angry Booker T waited outside for Robert Roode to arrive to the broadcast, but Roode's COO Payton Banks arrived later on to tell Booker that Roode wouldn't be coming to the broadcast. Jim Cornette stepped in and told Booker he would get his shot at revenge against Roode at Destination X, but first he's signing Booker T to battle World Champion Kurt Angle next Thursday on "iMPACT!".
- In addition, ODB challenged TNA Women's Champion Awesome Kong to a Street Fight on "iMPACT!". Gail Kim made her return to try to back up ODB in the bout, but her help backfired as Kong eventually won. After the bout, Gail and ODB got into it over the mix up.
- Rellik defeated Eric Young in singles action, as Young is apparently deathly afraid of Rellik.
- In a bout featuring the superstars of NASCAR, Homicide defeated Chris Sabin and Jimmy Rave after NASCAR star Juan Pablo Montoya hit Lance Hoyt with a chair, allowing Homicide to get the win!
Stevie Richards def. Local Kelly Kelly def. Layla Kofi Kingston def. Mike Knox Tommy Dreamer def. John Morrison CM Punk def. Mark Henry (Disqualification)
HOUSTON One weeks losers could be another weeks winners. Its something to keep in mind heading into No Way Out, especially for ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero, who has suddenly found himself in a spell of very bad luck.
Change of momentum has not only taken place in the race for the ECW Title; it has also tolled on another shade of gold as WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz watched their control over Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney dwindle. Just before their contest on ECW commenced, the confident duo labeled Dreamer & Delaney a couple of losers. The underdogs didnt look very much like losers Tuesday night, though.
In a rematch of their battle from a week ago, Dreamer and Morrison set to face off one-on-one with their respective allies looking on in each of their corners. Reversing Morrisons own maneuver, Dreamer caught the Shaman of Sexy off guard and countered with a DDT. The ECW Original followed that with the pin. Afterward, however, the champions released their frustrations, attacking the pair.
One of the highlights of the evening came earlier when another ECW Original made his return to the squared circle. After nine months of recovering from major throat surgery, Richards was back and as ready as ever. He wasted no time in continuing the success he had last spring, cruising to a victory in his return. (WATCH)
Speaking of success, thats all Kofi Kingston has had since making the Land of the Extreme his personal paradise. Facing Mike Knox proved to be no different as the Jamaican Superstar earned his fourth consecutive victory on ECW.
Also on ECW, Kelly and Layla traded luck as the blonde earned her way to a victory. The win comes after falling to Layla on numerous occasions. Despite having Lena Yada in her corner, which has been helpful in recent weeks, Layla came up short on a night of turned tables.
In the main event, CM Punk took the edge in his massive tune-up match for No Way Out against Mark Henry. After earning a win via disqualification, the Straightedge Superstar sent his opponent away with some bruises as Guerrero watched from ringside. Punk followed it up by knocking Chavo out, further aggravating an already frustrated ECW Champion. (WATCH) Read more on this story ...
Find out if Punks momentum will carry into No Way Out for his title match against Chavo Guerrero on Sunday at 8/7 CT, only on pay-per-view. And dont miss what develops in the world of ECW on Sci Fi on Tuesday at 10/9 CT.
Hornswoggle def. Mr. McMahon Chris Jericho def. JBL Paul Burchill def. Brian Kendrick John Cena def. Mark Henry Melina def. Maria Jeff Hardy def. Shawn Michaels
AUSTIN, Texas Things didnt exactly go the way Mr. McMahon had planned. The Chairman arranged a No Disqualification Match between him and Hornswoggle, hoping to teach his bastard son a lesson in tough love. But it was Mr. McMahon who was taught a lesson in humility.
Moments after the bell rang, the Chairman heaved his reluctant son to the mat and berated him around the ring. But that was before the arrival of Hornswoggles protector, Finlay, who flat-out ignored Mr. McMahons threats of termination were he to interfere.
Instead, the man who loves to fight ignored the possibility of losing his job a WWE opportunity he had spent years trying to earn and not being able to provide for his family. He chose to honor his friendship with Hornswoggle at all costs and stung Mr. McMahon with a crack of his shillelagh. As the Chairman lie writhing in pain, Hornswoggle landed a Tadpole Splash for the win.
Mr. McMahon, however, would not suffer in silence. While being attended to by medical personnel, the dazed Chairman refused to fire Finlay, and instead he arranged a Steel Cage Match with Hornswoggle next week. Photos | Video
Savage Betrayal John Bradshaw Layfield just cant find good help these days. After losing his match to Chris Jericho, the Lonestar Loudmouth thought his paid muscle, Umaga, was rumbling to his rescue. The Samoan Bulldozer, however, proved that at No Way Out, its going to be every man for himself when he drove a Samoan Spike into both Y2J and a stunned JBL. Photos | Video
Brotherly Love Paul Burchill knows how to make an entrance. The Raw newcomer introduced himself and his beloved sister, Katie Lea, to our fans before facing off against Brian Kendrick and grounding the high-flyer for an inaugural victory. Burchill loves to please his sister what Katie wants, Katie gets. Who knows what else Katie will want and to what lengths her brother Paul will go to please her in the weeks and months to come? Ready, Willing, Able If Mark Henry sought retribution from last weeks FU by John Cena, the Worlds Strongest Man came up disappointingly short. Having recovered from his torn pectoral muscle, the former WWE Champion locked Henry in an STFU until he tapped out. Watching from ringside, Randy Orton couldnt help but notice as his No Way Out opponent exclaimed, I am 100 percent! Story | Photos | Video
Kneed Help Last week, Mr. Kennedy offered Ric Flair a chance to forfeit their Career Threatening Match at No Way Out. This week, the 16-time World Champion told the loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis. that not only will he be there, hes set on winning. Mr. Kennedy left his mark before he left the ring by kicking the Nature Boy in his already ginger knee. Photos
Love Hurts Maria seemed on the verge of defeating Melina again this week when, suddenly, Jillian distracted her with a lip lock on her beau, Santino Marella to allow the Latina beauty to prevail. But Marias misery didnt end there. Santino issued an ultimatum: She has one week to choose either him or posing for Playboy. Photos | Video
Non-stop Flight Jeff Hardy continued to fly high leading up to No Way Out. The Rainbow-haired Warrior tangled with The Showstopper, Shawn Michaels, in a match just six days before the two meet again in an Elimination Chamber Match. With his hard-fought victory, Hardy kept the momentum rolling.
- MVP has passed the 260 day mark as U.S. champion which is the longest reigning U.S. champion since Rick Rude in WCW and the fifth longest in history. If he keeps the belt through the rest of this month he will top Barry Windham for the fourth spot.
Rory McAlister of the Highlanders tag team has confirmed on his MySpace website that he has suffered a complete pectoral tear and underwent surgery yesterday to repair it. The RAW superstar said he didnt even know he suffered the injury, but realized something was wrong. Here is what he wrote:
I have received countless e-mail asking how I am doing as of late and asking how my injury is. Well I had no clue anyone knew I was hurt as I never told anyone and I don't read the dirt sheets so I have no clue how they know but it's always nice that people show they care.
In a match recently I hurt my chest. Didn't know how, but I knew something was wrong. WWE had me see a surgeon immediately and after an mri I discovered I had torn my right pectoral completely off the bone. I went in for surgery yesterday morning and all went well. The tear was worse than first thought but the Doc assures me it has been anchored securely and he is more than happy with the results. I had an amazing team of surgeons and I have an amazing physical therapy team. Both of whom are the teams the Cincinnati Reds use. I made the joke that I hoped they know medicine better than the Reds know baseball but that joke dropped like a lead fart.
I am totally confident to be back very soon in better shape than I left both physically and mentally. Again thank you for all the e-mails of well being. I will keep you all updated!
- Samoa Joe's current TNA contract will expire in June of this year. Joe signed a 3 year deal with TNA in 2005. He was offered a renewel in 2007 but rejected the deal.

The Pay-Per-View is kicking off with a special ceremony featuring the National Gaurd and Marine veterans for the singing of the National Anthem. BG James and Bullet Bob Armstrong vs. AJ Styles and Tomko for the TNA World Tag Team Championship will be the first match.
Before the bout, AJ Styles and Tomko had some heated words in the ring over their recent problems involving Kurt Angle and Christian Cage. JB then did the in-ring introductions for the title match. BG and AJ started off, with Bullet Bob tagging in and slapping the taste out of AJ and Tomko's mouths. AJ and Tomko continued to disagree during the bout. Styles and Tomko worked over Bullet Bob until Tomko missed a boot in the corner and BG was able to tag in and regain the momentum. AJ accidentally took out Tomko with a flying elbow, leading to a near pinfall from BG on AJ. Minutes later, AJ was able to hit BG's knee with a flying dropkick, allowing AJ and Tomko to hit their Tonadoplex finisher on him for the win. After the bout, Bullet Bob and Kip James came in to check BG's leg.
Backstage, Karen Angle screamed at Kurt Angle over all the problems they've been having lately.
Mike Tenay and Don West ran down the night's matches at the announce table.
The next match was Traci Brooks vs. Robert Roode's COO, Ms. Payton Banks. Traci immediately went after Banks with a vengeance as they brawled outside the ring. It was all-out fight between the two TNA Knockouts as they slugged it out in and out of the ring. Traci won out in the end when Payton mistimed a move in the corner and Brooks rolled her up for the pin. After the bout, Payton went after Traci again - but Traci got the upper hand and chased her out of the ring.
Backstage, Scott Hudson interviewed Scott Steiner and Petey Williams about their upcoming bout. Steiner warned Petey not to try and copy him in the ring tonight - and else he would have a surprise for Petey. The Case vs. Case match is up next.
Petey Williams started off posing and trying to match Steiner with power - which obviously didn't work. Petey then began mocking Steiner and made him chase him - allowing Williams to catch Steiner by surprise. Petey got some quick X style offense in, but Steiner grounded him with an overhead suplex. Steiner then hit a top rope belly-to-belly suplex on Williams, then pulled Petey up by his hair during the pin attempt to inflict more punishment. Steiner followed it up with a fall-away slam off the second rope. Steiner then brought both Feast Or Fired cases in the ring and wedged them in the corners to use as weapons. However, the referee wouldn't let Steiner ram Petey's head into them. Instead, Petey reversed it and sent Steiner into the steel. Steiner and Williams traded near-falls, with Petey going to the air to take down his opponent. As Petey was setting up Steiner for the Canadian Destroyer, a mysterious (and giant) woman came to the ring and distracted Williams, allowing Steiner to hit Petey with a powerbomb for the win and the right to both cases. After the bout Steiner posed in the ring with the woman.
Backstage, Jeremy Borash tried to give Kurt Angle advice about how to get back on Karen's good side.
The Drinking Championship match with Eric Young vs. "Cowboy" James Storm is up next. Before the bout, Eric loaded up on beer from fans at ringside, but Storm took that opportunity to attack Eric on the outside to start the bout. However, Eric nailed a Thesz Press and then clotheslined Storm to the outside. Eric then hit a top rope flying bodypress on Storm on the outside. Storm regained control, exposing the concrete on the outside and slamming Young back-first onto it. Storm tried to repeat it, but EY reversed it into a suplex onto the concrete and threw Storm back inside the ring. Later, Eric nailed a top rope moonsault, but couldn't get the pin. Jackie tried to come in, but Eric put her - and then Storm - on his shoulders for a double Death Valley driver! Jackie then handed a beer bottle off to Storm - but just as Storm was about to use it The War Machine Rhino hit the ring and annihilated Storm with a GORE! Eric covered Storm for the win to keep the Drinking Championship! After the bout, Rhino got on the microphone and claimed he has a lot to say - but the time and place would be this Thursday night on "iMPACT!"
Jim Cornette and Crystal were in Orlando, where Cornette explained that due to a decision by the South Carolina commission, the Barbed Wire Massacre bout would have to be held in Orlando later on tonight...
Up next is Awesome Kong vs. ODB for the Women's Championship. ODB and Kong started off trading punches and slaps. ODB went to the outside, where she had some words with Kong's manager Raeesha Sayeed. Back inside, ODB tried to slam Kong but couldn't lift her. Kong took ODB back to the outside and ran her into the steel barricades. Back inside, Kong went for her powerbomb finisher but ODB fought her off. Kong went for another but ODB once again slipped out and tried to knock Kong down with dropkicks. Kong regained momentum and hit ODB with a facebuster, but ODB kicked out of the pin. Kong went to the top, but ODB intercepted her and slammed her off the top! However, when ODB got distracted by Kong's manager, the champion set up ODB for the Awesome Bomb and got the pin to retain her title.
Up next is the Barbed Wire Massacre 2 match from Orlando, Florida, with Abyss vs. Judas Mesias
With the ring wrapped in barbed-wire, Judas and Abyss locked up. Both TNA stars tried to drive each other into the barbed wire, but they blocked each other's attempts until Mesias dropkicked Abyss into the razorwire, opening a cut on Abyss' arm. Abyss then dropped Mesias chest-first into the barbed wire, slicing Mesias in the process. Later, Abyss rolled to the outside and brought in a steel chair wrapped in the wire - however, Judas ended up smashing it on his step-brother, opening up Abyss' forehead. Mesias rolled to the outside and brought a barbed-wire board into the ring. Abyss and Mesias fought on the outside, with Abyss gaining the momentum and sliding out a second board. Abyss attempted to slam James Mitchell into the board on the outside, but Mesias came to his manager's rescue. Back in the ring, Mesias used a piece of barbed wired to slice Abyss' arms from shoulder to hand. However, Abyss fought back and slammed Mesias stomach-first into the razor-wire board. Later, Abyss chokslammed Mesias into a second board on the outside - then the monster went after his father James Mitchell. Abyss nailed the Black Hole Slam on Mitchell - and then another on Mesias for the near-pin. Mesias nearly whipped Abyss into the referee, but Abyss stopped his momentum just long enough to save the referee. Mesias took the opportunity to bull-rush Abyss into one of the boards in the corner. However, Abyss blocked out the pain to hit another Black Hole Slam on Mesias into the barbed wire board to get the win!
After that bloody war, the broadcast returned to Greenville as Scott Hudson interviewed Robert Roode about his upcoming bout with Booker T.
After the Roode interview, Jeremy Borash interviewed a very angry Booker T on the bout.
After the ring introductions, Booker went right after Roode to start the bout, taking him to the outside and smashing him into the steel barricades. Back inside, as Booker was pummeling Roode in the corner, Payton Banks came into the ring and distracted Booker, allowing Roode to get control. Roode poured on the offense and tried to wear Booker down. Booker came back and hit a superkick on Roode that knocked him silly. Booker did the spinarooni for the crowd, but Roode grabbed his tights and launched him out of the ring. Later, both Booker and Roode went back to the outside to brawl, but Roode took off for the back with Payton Banks following. Booker followed Roode to the backstage area. As they battled in the backstage area, the referee ordered a double countout to end the bout. Payton pulled a car up to the back - but Roode took her out of the driver's seat and sped off - leaving the arena!
Backstage, Kurt Angle told Karen Angle he wanted to renew his wedding vows with her on the special Valentine's Day edition of Impact on Thursday. Kurt then delivered some words to Christian Cage and Samoa Joe regarding tonight's main event.
Up next is the street fight with Team 3D and Johnny Devine vs. The Motor City Machineguns and "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal. Both teams started off with brawl on the entrance ramp which quickly spread all over the arena. Lethal and the Machineguns ended up triple-teaming Brother Ray before all six combatants battled back into the ring. The Guns and Lethal hit triple-DDTs on their opponents before Sabin and Shelley brought in some weapons from the outside and ended up hitting all three with trash cans. Even a kitchen sink was used as a weapon. Team 3D and Devine took back control using various weapons. Brother Ray went to hit a defenseless Lethal with a kendo stick, but the Machineguns came back for the save. Later, Brother Ray and Devon hit the 3D finisher on both Sabin and Shelley before annihilating Lethal. Brother Ray continued to pound on Lethal - leading to SoCal Val coming up to the apron to try to get Brother Ray to stop. Instead, Ray viciously pulled Val into the ring and threatened to slice her open with a cheese grater! However, Lethal saved her and ended up taking down all three of his opponents in a fit of rage. Lethal fought off Ray, Devon and Devine before Ray managed to hit him with a sitdown powerbomb. With Val still crying on the outside, Lethal fought back once again - and hit the top rope elbow drop on Johnny Devine through a table for the win! Lethal and the Machineguns saved the X Division - and Black Machismo has regained the X Division Championship! After the bout, Val came in to hug Lethal while Brother Ray tried to take the X gold. Instead, Lethal came over the top on top of Ray and took it back! Lethal leapt back in the ring to celebrate with Val while Sonjay Dutt came to the ring to join in and congratulate his friend.
Up next is the main event for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship!
Before the bout, Scott Hudson interviewed Christian Cage about the upcoming main event. Cage promised he would leave with the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
Special enforcer Samoa Joe was announced out first, followed by Cage and the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle.
Angle started off by taking Cage off his feet and grounding him with a headlock. Cage was able to battle back and take down Angle for a headlock of his own. Samoa Joe sat patiently at ringside. Back in the ring, Angle charged at Cage but The Instant Classic sent him crashing into the steel post to the outside. Cage came off the top to the outside on Angle. Back inside the ring, Cage went to the top but Angle stopped him - slamming Cage down to the mat and went for a pin attempt. Angle tried to use the topes to choke Cage, but Samoa Joe came up to the apron to stop him. Angle then tossed Cage over the ropes to the outside with a belly to belly suplex. Angle went to use a chair on the outside but Joe once again stopped him. Joe and Angle got into a shoving match - allowing Cage to fight back briefly before Angle rammed Cage's injured shoulder into the steel post. Back in the ring, Angle powerbombed Cage back-first into the corner and went for a pin. The champion then grounded Cage with a leglock before hitting two German suplexes - however, Cage managed to reverse the third and nail a German suplex of his own. Cage regained the momentum and nearly scored the pinfall. Cage went to the top rope, fought off Angle and hit the frog splash - but could only get a two count. Later, Cage reversed the Olympic Slam and sent Angle to the outside.
Both TNA stars battled on the apron, with Angle somehow latching the Ankle Lock on Cage! Cage managed to break the hold, but he was hurt. Cage tried for the Unprettier, but Angle reversed it into the Olympic Slam for a pin - but Cage kicked out! Angle went for a top-rope moonsault but Cage moved. Cage once again went to the top, but Angle met him and nailed a superplex for another near-pin! Cage played possum and hit the Unprettier on Angle - but the champion kicked out! Angle accidentally took out the referee with a clothesline - allowing Cage to put the Ankle Submission on Angle. Samoa Joe came in to serve as referee, but Angle wouldn't tap and finally reached the ropes. Cage pulled Angle away from the ropes, but Karen was latched onto her husband and got dragged into the ring. Karen slapped Cage, but Cage moved when Kurt Angle came running, resulting in the Angles colliding. Samoa Joe removed Karen from the ring. AJ Styles then attempted to get involved, but Joe took him out of the bout as well as the two battled throughout the arena. Back inside, Kurt Angle brought in a chair but Cage took it away and used it on the challenger.
Tomko then hit the ring and took the chair away from Angle and threatened to punch him - but he instead threw Angle aside and nailed Cage with his finisher! Tomko quickly left the ring as Angle pulled the referee back in and got the three count to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship! Tomko cost Christian Cage the World Title!
- Speaking of SmackDown, according to data compiled by Neilson Media Research, last night's edition did a 2.7 overnight rating. This is what the show has been doing in recent weeks.
Shelton Benjamin def. Kane (Count-out) Chuck Palumbo def. Jamie Noble Jesse & Festus def. Deuce & Domino Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder def. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore Batista, Undertaker & Finlay vs. Big Daddy V, The Great Khali & United States Champion MVP (No Contest)
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas Batista, the only SmackDown participant who has fought in the Elimination Chamber before, opened SmackDown by telling our fans that he meant what he said last week: He would win the unprecedented second Chamber at No Way Out. The other participants, however, didnt share the same view as The Animal, and the dissent led to a Six-Man Tag Match later in the night.
United States Champion MVP was the first to voice his displeasure, followed by Big Daddy V and his mouthpiece, Matt Striker. The Great Khali entered the arena to show his dissent, as did Finlay. Suddenly, the lights then went out, and Undertaker appeared in the ring ready to show his dominance. The Chamber at No Way Out is going to be literally the biggest ever, with the combined weight of the Superstars equaling nearly a ton.
Instead of an all out brawl to begin SmackDown, the six Chamber opponents were put into a Six-Man Tag Team Match with the Irishman, The Animal and The Phenom teaming up to face The Dominating Force in WWE, the Punjabi giant and the Ballin Superstar. With each man trying to gain momentum before the Elimination Chamber, the tension in the ring was as intense as the action.
When it looked as if Khali and his partners had the match in hand, Finlay turned the tables, nailing the 7-foot-3, 420 pound giant with his shillelagh. All hell broke loose, and no Superstar could trust the others, evident by the stare down between Batista, Finlay and Undertaker. But the message was sent by all the participants: There will be no intimidation and no way out as they will all fend for themselves in the Elimination Chamber on Feb. 17.
Bringing the crazy One Superstar who stayed true to his own personal mission is Chuck Palumbo. Last week, the revved-up Superstar warned Michelle McCool that whatever he did to Jamie Noble would be her fault and that he would make her watch. On SmackDown, Palumbo lived up to his word when he defeated Noble for the first time and then unleashed a maniacal assault on the already weakened Noble.
Despite McCools desperate plea, Palumbo destroyed her friend Jamie Noble, even making our fans and McCool believe he was unhinged enough as he teased running over Noble with his motorcycle. Noble injury update...
Paper or plastic? The returning Jesse & Festus hoped to pick up where they left off a few weeks ago before they left SmackDown to seek help for Festus changing personalities. Paraded out in a paper bag by Jesse, Festus new look was ultimately unveiled, and the face of the returning Superstar seemed to remain the same. Another thing that didnt seem to change was the focus of Festus when the bell rang, which gave the Biscuits n Gravy duo the victory over the boys from the Other Side of the Tracks.
Fire extinguished Two weeks ago on ECW on Sci Fi, Kane defeated ECWs Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin by count-out. On SmackDown, Benjamin returned the favor, albeit inadvertently. After a thunderous blow that sent Shelton flying back into the ring, Kane was unable to answer the referees 10-count, giving Shelton the victory. Will these two Superstars continue to clash, and will Kane find a way to bring to a halt the man who claims, There aint no stoppin me?
Two for the road Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder continued their recent string of successes with another win over Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore. Hawkins & Ryders rise to prominence in the tag team division was at the expense of SmackDowns resident redneck & Moore, who have now lost two straight to Edges cohorts.
Uneasy return World Heavyweight Champion Edge hosted another edition of The Cutting Edge on SmackDown, this time to welcome back his lover, General Manager Vickie Guerrero. The Rated-R Superstar claims to have a life altering question for Vickie next week on SmackDown, but his focus on this night was Rey Mysterio. The GM was returning after being injured by Mysterio at Royal Rumble, and the reunited lovers demanded Rey apologize to Guerrero.
The Master of the 619 did what he could to show his heartfelt apologies, but what ensued was the Ultimate Opportunist trying to take out his No Way Out opponent before their championship clash on Feb. 17. Read the whole story
