Kane def. Shelton Benjamin Victoria def. Kelly Kelly The Miz & John Morrison def. Colin Delaney CM Punk def. Elijah Burke Kofi Kingston def. local
READING, Pa. A battered and heavily-bandaged Colin Delaney finally found a savior of sorts on this weeks ECW Tommy Dreamer. It was the newcomers sixth time in the ECW ring, and after losing another match this time a brutal Handicap Match against WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison Delaney was aided by the ECW Original. Has the youngster finally caught a break and a found an ally in Dreamer? (WATCH)
Also on Tuesday night, Kane and Shelton Benjamin faced off in one-on-one competition. Last week, ECWs Gold Standard was victorious over the Big Red Machine during the Over-the-Top Rope Challenge. This week, Benjamin took a giant Kane boot to the face, then fled the ring, with Kane winning by count-out. Has the Gold Standard finally met his match? Is Kane enough to silence Benjamin?
In other ECW action, the Land of the Extremes newest Superstar, Kofi Kingston, continued to garner the support of our fans, as the Jamaican Superstar won his second straight match. Kingston is happy to take on any trouble that may arise in Tuesday night paradise. What challenges await Kingston?
Fresh off her Best Body Contest win last week, Kelly Kelly put her in-ring skills to the test against Victoria. In Kelly Kellys case, the blonde didnt have more fun Tuesday night, as former Womens Champion Victoria laid her out with a Widows Peak, while Lena Yada and Layla watched at ringside. After the match, Lena and Layla obviously still angry about losing last weeks Best Body Contest rushed into the ring and left Kelly face-down on the mat.
Finally, CM Punk faced Elijah Burke on ECW. Despite being robbed of the ECW Title last week, the Straightedge Superstar got right back to his winning ways, as he was triumphant over Burke after a devastating GTS. Punks party continued later in the night when he crashed Chavo Guerreros Championship Fiesta.
This week's edition of Raw did a 3.9 cable rating, it's best number for a non-special since April 2, 2007, which was the show after last year's WrestleMania.
It certainly appears that curiosity from The Royal Rumble and John Cena's return spurred on the growth from last week's 3.5. The Cena factor is certainly borne out in the numbers as the first quarter hour of the show did a 4.31 cable rating, which was easily the best of the broadcast.
Overall, the first hour did a 4.05 while the second did a 3.69, so the only negative in the number is that they lost viewers as the show went on.
Former TNA Wrestling Superstar, "Wildcat" Chris Harris recently announced on his official website yesterday that he has signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. The following was posted on wildcatchrisharris.com yesterday:
"Wildcat Chris Harris is officially announcing that he has signed with the WWE on January 29th."
-- Paul Burchill (with Katie Lea) defeated Nick Berk. Before the match, Katie took the mic and said that all she wants is to see her brother win. Burchill responded, "What Katie wants, Katie gets."
WWE Heat:
-- Charlie Haas defeated DH Smith by submission. At one point in the match, Haas put the mask on and Smith later removed it. Haas retrieved it and put it back on.
-- Hacksaw Duggan pinned The Highlanders' Robbie.
-- Trevor Murdoch pinned Super Crazy with a "slow motion Canadian Destroyer."
When John Cena had surgery four months ago to repair his torn pectoral muscle, WWE reported that the recovery time would be 6-9 months. Recent interviews by Cena confirmed that he was still on that same recovery schedule, which made last night's return at the Royal Rumble a huge surprise.
When John Cena and WWE received word that he was physically cleared to wrestle, they immediately decided to keep it a secret to mislead people as to his true health status.
News about Cena starring in the new WWE Films project "12 Rounds" is true. What wasn't true is the time it will take to film the movie. Cena told the UK Sun newspaper last week that it would take 5 months to film. In reality, this was greatly exaggerated. WWE has applied for permits to film in New Orleans, which will take 4-6 weeks.
Because Cena will be filming in the United States, he'll be able to make appearances on WWE television leading up to WrestleMania.
Women's Champion Beth Phoenix & Jillian Hall def. Mickie James & Ashley Carlito def. Cody Rhodes Triple H & Shawn Michaels def. Snitsky & Umaga Mr. Kennedy def. Brian Kendrick Maria def. Melina WWE Champion Randy Orton & JBL def. Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy & Chris Jericho
PHILADELPHIA Triple H is no fan of losing. So, when The Game got to choose his partner Monday night in a tag team match against Umaga & Snitsky, he went with the sure bet, reuniting with his DX compadre Shawn Michaels. But reunions can sometimes be bittersweet.
Even as the longtime friends showed solidarity and vanquished their foes, the pair knew all too well that in three weeks they will be trying to destroy each other at No Way Out. Earlier in the night, the two were chosen by Raw GM William Regal to compete with four other Superstars Umaga, Chris Jericho, JBL and Jeff Hardy in an Elimination Chamber Match at the pay-per-view, with the winner earning an opportunity to compete against the WWE Champion at WrestleMania XXIV. Return Engagement One night after shocking the Royal Rumble audience, former WWE Champion John Cena showed that hes itching to recapture his title. He called out reigning Champion Randy Orton for a title match that night. Orton begged off, but agreed to defend his title against Cena at No Way Out. But that wasnt the last he saw of Cena. Video
Royal Reprisal One night after both Jeff Hardy and Chris Jericho suffered losses at the Royal Rumble to Randy Orton and JBL, respectively, the two were out for revenge. But it was John Cena who exacted retribution. The former WWE Champion drew first blood when he ran in and laid out Orton after he and JBL prevailed, sending the unmistakable message that the Champ wants back what was once his. Story | Video
Mounting Frustration Mickie James paired with Ashley to confront the challenge of Jillian Hall & Womens Champion Beth Phoenix in a tag team match. Mickie came oh-so-close to pinning The Glamazon only to fall short again. Photos
Apple Turnover For the second consecutive week, Carlito turned up his game and defeated a member of the World Tag Team Champions. This time, the Caribbean Bad Apple pinned down Cody Rhodes. Photos
Family Disgrace Hornswoggle took his lumps Monday night, but not in the ring. After what the Chairman called his cowardly performance the night before, Mr. McMahon informed his bastard son that he was ashamed of him and didnt even want to be around him. Ouch! Video
Blond Ambition In his match against Mr. Kennedy, Brian Kendrick hoped to make a statement. Unfortunately, Mr. Kennedy was eager to make his own declaration. The loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis., not only pummeled his opponent, he also announced that he will challenge Ric Flair in a Career Threatening Match at No Way Out. Photos | Video | No Way Out Preview
Wardrobe Malfunction During her match with Melina, Maria found herself with her pants around her knees compliments of her overly aggressive opponent. But just as Maria was beginning to strut her panty-clad stuff, her "boyfriend" Santino Marella jumped into the ring, wrapped his jacket around her waist and lambasted the audience for getting a free show. John Cena wins the Royal Rumble Match Randy Orton def. Jeff Hardy (Orton retains WWE Championship) Edge def. Rey Mysterio (World Heavyweight Championship Match) Ric Flair def. United States Champion MVP (Career Threatening Match) JBL def. Chris Jericho (Disqualification)
Jeff Hardy was interviewed this week by Charleston's The Post and Carrier newspaper. Hardy revealed that his body is in real bad shape. "My ankles are really weak. A lot of that stems from motocross in the past. I've got a (bone) chip in my right kneecap now, pain in my elbows and two herniated discs in my neck and my back. I'm not feeling great, but I've been extremely lucky that I've gone this far without surgery. So I'll just keep knocking on metal or wood."
Rey Mysterio def. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder (Disqualification)
Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore def. Deuce and Domino
The Miz, John Morrison &Layla vs. Chuck Palumbo, Jamie Noble & Michelle McCool (No contest)

World Heavyweight Champion Edge def. CM Punk
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. With just 48 hours until Royal Rumble, the SmackDown Superstars were upping their game in preparation for the showdown at Madison Square Garden. Among those ready to clash in the Big Apple are two of WWEs biggest athletes the 6-foot, 10-1/2-inch Undertaker and the 500-pound man-mountain from Harlem, N.Y., Big Daddy V.
But on Friday night, it was The Deadman who displayed his dominance. Using a submission move never seen before, Undertaker defeated V, leaving him with blood flowing from his mouth and requiring the Worlds Strongest Man, Mark Henry, to help him exit the ring. Somehow, The Phenom always finds a way to win. Will he find a similar way to defeat the 29 other men come Royal Rumble?
Bold statements In addition to The Phenom, Batista another serious Rumble contender and former World Heavyweight Champion grabbed the SmackDown mic to let everyone know about his chances of being the last man standing in New York City. Making a bold prediction, the 2005 Rumble winner proclaimed, Im putting every competitor on notice. History is going to repeat itself.
Belfast brawl On last weeks SmackDown, Finlay was on the receiving end of The Great Khalis brutal Vise Grip, which almost crushed the Fighting Irishmans cranium. To potentially allow Finlay to get some payback, the Chairman set up a no-rules Belfast Brawl between the two. Revenge came swiftly and severely when the Chairmans illegitimate son, Hornswoggle, looked to be in danger of being slammed into the announce table by Khali. This launched Finlay into a relentless attack; using his shillelagh, fists, boot and a chair, he opened a wound on the Punjabi giants forehead. Will Finlay be able to carry this aggression forward and use it to his advantage in the Rumble?
For Hornswoggle to survive the 30-man over-the-top rope Royal Rumble, hell surely need Finlay at his side. But, according to the Chairman, Hornswoggle cannot trust the Fighting Irishman. In the locker room area, Mr. McMahon pulled his son aside and advised him not to trust anyone in Royal Rumble. Your last name isnt Finlay, he said. Your last name is McMahon, and dont you ever forget it.
A glimpse into the future? Days before the Career Threatening Match at Royal Rumble, the verbal battle between Ric Flair and United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter continued on SmackDown. Taking a sarcastic look into Flairs future, MVP taunted Naitch with what it might look like, including the Nature Boy playing shuffleboard in his retirement. Flair brushed off MVPs prognosticating and flatly proclaimed he is not ready to retire, not ready to go home. All the talk will come to a head on Sunday, when Flairs fate in WWE is decided. If Flair defeats MVP, the Nature Boy carries on. Lose, and he must retire, as per the Chairman.
Divided they fall In a Six-Person Tag Team Match, Chuck Palumbo, Jamie Noble & Michelle McCool were set to face off against The Miz, John Morrison & Layla. But, before the match could really get going, McCools team got into trouble early. While bickering in the middle of the ring, Palumbo shoved Noble against the ropes, launching Michelle off the apron and down to the ground. With the match stopped for medical staff to check on Michelles condition, Chuck seemed to snap, delivering a vicious beating to Noble, his own teammate. After recovering, McCool tried to intervene, only to have Palumbo ruthlessly throw her to the ground again this time requiring emergency medical technicians to take her out of the arena on a stretcher. Later, as Michelle was brought to a waiting ambulance, Noble apologized for how things went down.
Professional help For fans wondering where Jesse and Festus have been in recent SmackDown action, Jesse offered an explanation. In an effort to help with his bizarre personalities, Festus is seeking professional help. Best friend Jesse explained there is the calm, cool and reserved Festus. And then there is the crazy, madman Festus. Which will we see when Festus gets well?
SmackDown in HD On the debut of SmackDown in HD, fans saw Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore defeat Deuce & Domino in tag team action. Also, fans learned that next week, Eve winner of the 2007 WWE Diva Search will be coming to SmackDown in HD.
Ready to Rumble With Royal Rumble just two days away, Rey Mysterio faced off against both Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder in a Handicap Match and got the win. Later, reigning World Heavyweight Champion Edge speared his way to victory over CM Punk, while Mysterio joined Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman at ringside to watch it all unfold. In just two days, a sold out Madison Square Garden will be watching as the two do battle for the World Heavyweight Championship.
