Alex Riley def. Kaval Kofi Kingston & Michael McGillicutty def. Mark Henry & Lucky Cannon
RALEIGH, N.C. The WWE Pros offered the NXT Rookies a chance to rekindle their relationships after last weeks surprising initiation. Several NXT Rookies finally saw in-ring action, leaving lasting impressions on the WWE Pros and the WWE Universe as the next set of polls are just two weeks away.
Kofi Kingston & Michael McGillicutty def. Mark Henry & Lucky Cannon (PHOTOS | WATCH) Third-generation competitor NXT Rookie Michael McGillicutty has a lot of lineage to live up to. As the grandson of WWE Legend Larry The Axe Hennig and son of former Intercontinental Champion Mr. Perfect, McGillicutty must quickly make an impact on the WWE Pros and the WWE Universe an accomplishment he achieved during week two of competition. He kicked off his first match by boldly tagging himself in to face the daunting Mark Henry. Then, with the help of his WWE Pro, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston, McGillicutty earned victory when he pinned the competitive Lucky Cannon.
McGillicutty left a strong first impression, as his WWE Pro, Kingston, called him a man on a mission who took a step in the right direction. Despite their loss, Henry said his NXT Rookie, Cannon, has a lot of potential. But not all of the WWE Pros agreed. Cody Rhodes berated Cannon, calling him a loser. Youre all style and no substance, Rhodes said. Then, Henry challenged Rhodes to face Cannon one-on-one. A cocky Rhodes accepted the match for next week, then shockingly took a cheap shot at NXT announcer Matt Striker, knocking him off the stage!
Alex Riley def. Kaval (PHOTOS | WATCH) The brash and confident Alex Riley saw his first in-ring action against fellow NXT Rookie, the fearless and skilled Kaval. (WATCH: Meet NXT Rookie Kaval) Despite a strong effort by Kaval, whose WWE Pros co-Womens Champions Lay-Cool offered their amusing commentary during the match, the self-proclaimed rare breed Riley pinned his competitor. Riley admirably pulled off the win without the presence of his WWE Pro, The Miz, who was in Los Angeles celebrating his United States Championship victory.
Several WWE Pros offered their first impressions of Riley and Kaval. Lay-Cool applauded Kavals first match and promised it wont be long before hell be flawless under their guidance. John Morrison said both NXT Rookies did a very good job of making an impression. And instead of offering his opinions on the NXT Rookies in the match, Zack Ryder must have been busy checking out WWE NXTs new ring announcer, Jamie Keyes: That new ring announcer chick, shes pretty hot. Call me, The Long Island Loudmouth said.
MVP discusses the NXT Rookies initiation (PHOTOS | WATCH) Tensions were high during the second week of season two of WWE NXT after last weeks surprising initiation in which the season two WWE Pros sent a loud and clear message to their NXT Rookies by tossing them out of the ring to quell any possible rebellion. This week, WWE Pro MVP explained to the NXT Rookies that theyre paying for the transgressions of their season one predecessors, who have been wreaking havoc on Raw for the last two weeks. (MORE) The Ballin Superstar said the season two NXT Rookies must work hard, pay their dues and respect and cherish the opportunity given to them on WWE NXT and the WWE Pros will rightfully teach them. In a sign of solidarity, the WWE Pros and the NXT Rookies shook hands before week twos matches began. (WATCH: Meet NXT Rookie Husky Harris)
The NXT Rookies must make a strong impression on the WWE Pros and the WWE Universe. The first Pros Poll and WWE Universe Poll on WWE.com are just two weeks away, and the first elimination is only five weeks away. The WWE Pros and the WWE Universe will split the vote 50/50 to determine who will be the first NXT Rookie eliminated and who will be WWEs next breakout star! (WATCH: Meet NXT Rookie Eli Cottonwood)
Booker T comments on why he didn't return to WWE Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 06/16/2010 at 02:48 PM
In an interview with SlamWrestling.com, former WCW, WWE and TNA superstar Booker T talked up his recent appearance at a TNA house show, how close he was to signing with WWE, working Independent wrestling events, Sharmell due to give birth and so much more. Highlights of the interview are below:
Working indy events and becoming PWA Champion: There is always drama with Booker T. No one expects a title change at a independent event, especially the champion fighting a guy coming in. My fans have supported me from day one here and abroad. Canada has always been one of my favorite places to work. Canadian wrestlers actually have been some of my greatest opponents. It was good just to be there, I wouldnt say I dont do independents I just dont do a lot of them. Lance Storm, who is a good friend of mine, called me and asked me to come over to help out with a couple of things as far as wrestling and entertainment. It was good to see Lance too. To pick up the PWA championship was just another bonus. Titles is just something that comes along with Booker T, everywhere I go I always seem to capture a title by hook or by crook. That has always been my MO. I am having a good time relaxing and doing it when I want to and where I want to.
His recent TNA appearance: It was really cool to get out there and mix it up with Rob Van Dam. We are really good friends but it was all about the title. A.J. Styles had flight problems and couldnt make it in and they didnt want to dissapoint the fans. It was 2 hours from where I live. I still got good relations with TNA. The TNA family actually treated me very well, I was just going through a lot of personal things when I left. I am still close to Dixie Carter who is a nice lady doing a lot of great things for the wrestling business and the wrestlers. Terry Taylor, one of my favorite people, called me and asked me if I would fill in. I am a team player and I said heck yeah man. It was a great night not just for the fans but for myself to go out there and see if I still got it, the itch to be out there and doing it. The fans were going crazy which was totally unexpected. Rob and I went out and I gave him a black eye, he almost broke my jaw when he kicked me in the side of the head. All is fair in love and war when you are out there in the ring trying to deliver for the fans. That is what it was about. Man it was a great night
Speculation on a comeback and Sharmells pregnancy: I dont want to do a whole lot right now. My wife is about one and a half months from delivering our twins and we are really excited about that more then anything. We are going into a different phase of life with the King and Queen raising the Prince and Princess. It is going to be a totally different chapter. Right now that is what I am focusing on, August 20th is her delivery date. It is an exciting time. Wrestling has been great to me and I love it but I have to focus on first things first. We have been working on this for quite some time and the man upstairs finally blessed us. Not with just one but two, a boy and a girl, which is wild.
On his WWE contract offer, whether it was speculation and how close he was to joining: There is a lot of truth to those rumors. I was really close to going back to WWE. Things did not work out due to a lot of things. I cant work 6 months out of the year, 160 days. That would be really hard on me. We got pregnant at the same time that negotiations were being talked about. It was a lot of different things which lead to the breakdown. Ive still got really good relationships with WWE as well. I have never burned any bridges with anybody I worked with I dont think. It may be a possibility for me to go back there someday maybe in a different position. I always wanted to be an agent, a writer, work with guys from a backstage perspective. Wrestling is not something I foresee myself being able to do for the rest of my life.
- Zack Ryder suffered a concussion last night in the four way match on RAW for the United States Title. Ryder's injury came when John Morrison powerbombed The Miz off the apron and onto Ryder on the floor. Ryder wrestled another five or six minutes with the concussion.
Bryan's release: What close friends believe, more Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 06/15/2010 at 11:57 AM

Based on the NXT storyline from this week's RAW, Bryan Danielson is now officially "gone and buried" from WWE. Dave Meltzer is reporting that his close friends believe he has been fired, he has talked to other promotions about working dates, and TNA has contacted him about coming in. Obviously, he would have the standard 90-day no compete clause in his release.
Sting still hurting; status up in the air Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 06/15/2010 at 11:43 AM

According to Bryan Alvarez, Sting is continuing to have issues with his shoulder and the feeling among many in TNA is that he will need to get surgery at some point down the line. He was not used at the Monday night Impact TV tapings in Orlando so his status as an on air character could be up in the air as well.
As noted earlier here on the website, Scott Hall has reportedly been fired by TNA Wrestling. He was written off of storylines at last night's television taping for Thursday night's episode.
TNA stripped The Band Hall, Kevin Nash, and Eric Young of the TNA Tag Team Championship and set up a mini-tournament. The winning team will face The Motor City Machineguns for the vacant titles at next month's Victory Road pay-per-view.
Last month, Hall was arrested outside of Orlando, Florida two days before Sacrifice. He worked the event and reportedly did not inform management of his arrest. He was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest after being arrested at the Hitching Post Bar. Hall has since pled not guilty to the charges. His next scheduled court date is July 1 in Seminole County court.
The Miz def. R-Truth, John Morrison and Zack Ryder in a United States Championship Fatal 4-Way Match Evan Bourne def. Chris Jericho by Disqualification Divas Champion Eve & Gail Kim def. Alicia Fox & Maryse Raw guest host Mark Feuerstein & Big Show def. Ted DiBiase & Virgil Santino Marella def. William Regal WWE Champion John Cena & Randy Orton vs. Edge & Sheamus ended in a No Contest
CHARLOTTE, N.C. While its Raw guest host Mark Feuerstein who stars in USA Networks Royal Pains, it was Raws General Manager, Bret Hart, who experienced serious and mounting pains of his own thanks to the group of ruthless and desperate season one NXT Rookies.
WWE Champion John Cena & Randy Orton vs. Edge & Sheamus ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH) Just six days before the four clash in a Fatal 4-Way WWE Championship Match, WWE Champion John Cena paired with Randy Orton to take on Edge & Sheamus. With the entire Raw roster looking on from the entrance ramp to prevent another ambush from the NXT Rookies, the four Superstars, who will battle for the title on Sunday, tore into one another in a prelude to Fatal 4-Way.
Their match was cut short, however, when it was realized that the NXT Rookies had accosted Raw General Manager Bret Hart and dragged him into the parking lot. Once there, the Rookies, led by NXT winner Wade Barrett, tossed the WWE Hall of Famer into the back of a limo and ordered the driver to smash the auto into walls and other cars. The sadistic Rookies then harassed a defenseless Hart, pressuring him to offer them all WWE contracts. When Hart refused, the Rookies agreed that they would give him until Sundays pay-per-view to think about it. But will Hart be in any condition to respond? If so, will he concede and sign all of the NXT season one rookies to contracts? Stay tuned.
Santino Marella def. William Regal (PHOTOS | WATCH) An international incident seemed to be brewing when Santino Marella squared off against William Regal with Vladimir Kozlov acting as special guest referee. Unfortunately for the Englishman, his Italian opponent bent the rules. Since the Russian referee failed to catch the questionable call, Marella managed to claim the victory. While Regal argued his case, it became quite clear that Kozlov could not understand him and that he was arguing in vain.
Raw Guest Host Mark Feuerstein & Big Show def. Ted DiBiase & Virgil Raw guest host Mark Feuerstein teamed with Big Show on his USA Network program Royal Pains for an upcoming episode. If that pairing went anything like the duos wrestling on Raw, the episode is a must-see. Feuerstein, a former competitive wrestler, teamed with The Worlds Largest Athlete against Ted DiBiase & his manservant Virgil. The actor and the athlete proceeded to humble their moneyed menaces when Feuerstein pinned Virgil - much to the disgust of DiBiase. (READ MORE | PHOTOS | WATCH)
Divas Champion Eve & Gail Kim def. Alicia Fox & Maryse (PHOTOS | WATCH) Just six days before these sexy, smart and powerful ladies compete in a Fatal 4-Way Divas Championship Match, Eve teamed with Gail Kim against Maryse & Alicia Fox. While resident Mean Girl Maryse triumphed last week in the Viewers Choice Diva Battle Royal, reigning champion Eve wasnt about to let herstory repeat itself. The martial arts maven leveled Alicia to secure the win for her and her partner Gail. This Sunday, however, itll be every woman for herself.
NXT Rookies attempted an attack on WWE Champion John Cena (PHOTOS | WATCH) One week after suffering a despicable attack at the hands of the NXT Rookies, WWE Champion John Cena proved that you cant keep a good man down. Despite the beating, The Champ came to the ring to address the NXT Rookies. During his speech, Cena became distracted by the NXT Rookies, who jumped a security barrier. Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Darren Young, Skip Sheffield, Michael Tarver and David Otunga headed for the parking lot, however, after Cena was joined by Jerry Lawler, R-Truth, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Santino Marella, Evan Bourne, William Regal, Sheamus and Edge.
Evan Bourne def. Chris Jericho by Disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH) How the mighty have fallen. After being launched over the top rope by Big Show last week, Chris Jerichos woes continued. The self-important Superstar faced down the challenge of Evan Bourne this week. After locking in The Codebreaker, Jericho was shocked when Air Bourne kicked out. So frustrated was Mr. Vocabulary that he flipped out, pummeling Bourne to the point of disqualification. For his part, the high-flyer retaliated, leaving Jericho down and dumbfounded.
Big Show & guest host Mark Feuerstein to face Ted DiBiase & Virgil Ted DiBiase cant buy his way out of this. The Fortunate Son and his manservant Virgil tried to intimidate Raw guest host Mark Feuerstein, star of USA Networks Royal Pains, into letting him co-host the show. When Feuerstein refused, he was backed up by an unlikely ally, Big Show. It seems The Worlds Largest Athlete did a cameo on an upcoming episode of Royal Pains and agreed to team with his actor pal against DiBiase & Virgil.
The Miz def. R-Truth, John Morrison and Zack Ryder in a Fatal 4-Way United States Championship Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) Will the WWE Universe ever hear the end of it? In a Fatal 4-Way United States Championship Match, The Miz reclaimed the title that meant so much to him. The Cleveland Screamer managed to prevail over former champ R-Truth, John Morrison and Zack Ryder by pinning Truth. Since the winner of a Fatal 4-Way Match is the first competitor to pin any of his other three opponents, Miz seized an opportunity presented by his former tag team partner Morrison. Before the night was over, Truth invoked his rematch clause for this Sunday at Fatal 4-Way.
Perhaps WWE Champion John Cena and World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger are each looking on, strategizing and thinking, There but for the grace of God "
Raw General Manager Bret Hart fired NXT Rookie Wade Barrett (PHOTOS | WATCH) As Raws General Manager, Bret Hart hasnt exactly been the wishy-washy type. Therefore, when NXT Rookies Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Darren Young, Skip Sheffield, Michael Tarver, David Otunga and NXT winner Wade Barrett flooded the ring to make a few demands in the wake of their brutal rampage last week, Hart didnt hesitate to make an executive decision. Rather than bend to the will of ringleader Barrett or any of the NXT Rookies, the WWE Hall of Famer instead canned Barrett and then threatened to have the lot of 'em arrested if they didnt leave!

Ray went for a senton on Neal, but he missed and Jesse Neal hit his spear for the pin and the win. After the bout, Tommy Dreamer exited the arena with a smile on his face! - The returning Hernandez was disqualified against "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan. Morgan tried to fake an injury before the bout by wearing a neckbrace and producing a doctor's note, but Hernandez attacked him. Hernandez was on the warpath and tried to choke out Morgan and even tossed the referee, leading to the ref giving Morgan the win via disqualification. After the bout, Hernandez tried to get revenge on Morgan by nailing him with his boot against the guardrail on the outside of the ring (like Morgan injured Hernandez) but Morgan pulled the referee into the strike instead.
- In the violent and chaotic Monster's Ball match, Abyss defeated Desmond Wolfe after Chelsea helped Abyss by tossing him brass knuckles. Chelsea originally accompanied Wolfe to the ring since her 30 days with Abyss were up, but she clearly has other ideas right now. In the end, Wolfe was yelling at Chelsea to give him her purse loaded with the brass knuckles, but her purse was empty. However, she instead gave it to Abyss, allowing "The Monster" to use it on Wolfe and hit the Black Hole Slam for the win!

After the bout, Kazarian came out while Flair was yelling at Styles for losing. Flair left the arena with Kazarian, while AJ nursed his knee in the ring.

Anderson then hit Roode with his Mic Check finisher for the victory! After the bout, both Anderson and Hardy declared each other the winner.
- In the main event for the World Heavyweight Championship, Rob Van Dam retained the gold against Sting! In the end, after the referee got knocked out, Sting attempted to use his black bat on RVD, but Jeff Jarrett came out to make the save! Jarrett used the bat on Sting, allowing Van Dam to get the upper hand. RVD and Sting traded high-impact moves, but RVD hit the Frog Splash for the win and the victory!

Roxxi said to be upset about Slammiversary stip Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 06/14/2010 at 10:16 AM

Apparently there was a lot of heat backstage at last nights TNA Slammiversary when Roxxi showed up at the building and was informed that her match with Madison Rayne would be with her career on the line. Roxxi was described as visibly upset before and after her match.
Roxxi was working on a nightly deal with TNA and was brought back to fill the void after Tara left and Angelina Love & Daffney went out with injuries. With Love and Daffney ready to return, its possible TNA creative didnt have anything for Roxxi after last nights show.
John Cena wants Daniel Bryan back in WWE Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 06/13/2010 at 08:32 PM
John Cena posted the following on his Twitter account WWEJCena:
"CeNation. 1st, the word is jimbrone. Not jabroni, jaybronee, yadda yadde. Jim Brone. It is an very ancient term that was a predecessor to The iron shieks jabroni, which was then adopted by the rock...and of course made famous. Second....
I am very upset to hear about the release of bryan danielson. Social networks were formed so people would have a voice, and an opinon. I Know you all have your own, theories and whatnot. I respect that. I have never asked any of you to feel a certaint way about me. But Bryan left a lasting impression on the wwe universe in a very short time, and although it came at my expense, I agree with the majority of you who are caught off guard by this choice.
I know I'm not exactly appreciated by all, nor do I care to be, but I believe what I believe. I would like bryan to come back to the wwe.
I would like to sign your petition to bring him back. I was taught to stand up for what I beileve in. I tried and failed, so I could Use some help. Tell me how to sign and I will. If for nothing else, to at least have a chance to have a match with him after what was done
I know that seems a bit more fair. Give me a chance to have a fair match with him, and give him yet another chance to prove that he does"
- As noted before, NXT season 2 Rookie Lucky Cannon was formerly known as Johnny Prime in WWE developmental. Apparently he was given the Lucky Cannon name because WWE didn't want anymore John's on the roster.
Daniel Bryan Release Update; When He Found Out Posted by Steve Carrier on 06/13/2010 at 12:06 PM
Partial source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
- Despite what's being reported, there are still some wrestlers and employees within WWE who think the Daniel Bryan release is an angle. However, all indications are that he has indeed been released.
Officials told everyone in the company from marketing people to doctors about his departure. Bryan Danielson is already seeking work on the independent scene. The final decision to release Bryan was made early Friday and he was informed shortly before WWE announced it on their website.
WWE gave him the impression that they would work together in the future but gave him no timetable on a return. Most within the company are feeling bad for Danielson because he was basically a scapegoat in the whole situation.
Danielson's last match with WWE was on Wednesday night at the FCW event in Florida where he took part in a continuation of the NXT invasion. Obviously the invasion angle will be hurt now with his departure as he was considered the most well-rounded star of the group.
News regarding the Knockouts pay controversy Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 06/13/2010 at 12:23 PM
Credit: F4WOnline.com
Many of the TNA Knockouts are still only earning Indy salaries and rely on outside bookings (and in some cases regular jobs) to make a fair living. Some thought when Hogan and Bischoff came in things would change, but Christy Hemme a non-wrestler, is the highest paid female in the company.
This is one of the reasons that Awesome Kong soured on the company and why Gail Kim never re-signed.
One has to wonder why they would pay them so poorly, when historically they've had the highest rated segments on the show.
Rey Mysterio def. World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger (Non-Title Match) Women's Champion Layla def. Tiffany (Non-Title Match) Christian def. Dolph Ziggler Big Show def. CM Punk (Disqualification)

Big Show def. CM Punk by Disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH) In their first one-on-one encounter ever, Big Show and CM Punk were eager to prove their mettle before they collide for the World Title at Fatal 4-Way. It didnt take long to see that The Worlds Largest Athlete was clearly the more dominate force. But when he attempted to rip the mask off CM Punk, Luke Gallows and the mysterious hooded S.E.S. stranger attacked him, resulting in an immediate disqualification win for Big Show. Punk and Serena followed up with a few cheap shots of their own. As the S.E.S. continued its assault on Big Show, Kane entered the arena to put an exclamation point on his night of carnage by chokeslamming the hooded stranger, Gallows and the 500-pound Big Show! Christian def. Dolph Ziggler (PHOTOS | WATCH) With Official SmackDown Consultant Vickie Guerrero at his side, Dolph Ziggler hoped for a victory similar to the one he enjoyed over Christian in a recent 2-on-1 Handicap Match arranged by Vickie on WWE Superstars. Although Christian got the win with a sunset splash, that didnt stop Ziggler from capitalizing on an assault from Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer. With their 30-day contract to make an impact on SmackDown expiring at midnight, the duo made a final push to join the roster by leveling Captain Charisma from behind. After the assault, Ziggler locked Christian in his infamous sleeper hold, while Vickie smiled gleefully from outside the ring.
Women's Champion Layla def. Tiffany in a Non-Title Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) With NXT Rookie Kaval at their side, and Michelle McCools parents in attendance, the self-professed co-Womens Champions poked fun at the appearance of the WWE Universe before the match began. Once the action got underway, Women's Champion Layla got down to business and dispatched of Tiffany in quick order. When Tiffany turned her attention to McCool, knocking her from the ring apron, Layla capitalized, hitting her with a neckbreaker for the win.
Rey Mysterio def. World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger in a Non-Title Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) In their first one-on-one match ever, Rey Mysterio used not one, but three 619s to overcome World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger, giving him an important victory just nine days before Fatal 4-Way. After the loss, The All-American American vented his frustrations by attacking the masked Superstar. However, Kane interrupted the assault and brutally chokeslammed both Swagger and Mysterio.

Samoa Joe could be nearing a big push in TNA Wrestling. I've been told for months Hulk Hogan is high up on him but there was a hang up over his weight. Dixie Carter recently posted on Twitter Joe has been getting great responses at live events and has always been very high up on him.
