Update on Hernandez and TNA Wrestling

Update on Hernandez and TNA Wrestling
Posted by Mark Virginia on 05/19/2010 at 06:26 PM

    Credit: F4WOnline.com

One of the reasons Hernandez was sent to Mexico was to take Spanish classes and be in Mexico so he's basically forced to use the language. While Hernandez is Hispanic by heritage, he didn't know much Spanish. The idea when he returns, which is happening soon, is to have him do his interviews like Rey Mysterio where he uses both English and Spanish.

Booker T Returns to TNA and Challenges Rob Van Dam

As noted last night here on the website, Multi-time world champion Booker T made a surprise appearance wrestling in the main event against Rob Van Dam at Friday night's TNA house show in Lake Charles, Texas.

It was announced to the audience that AJ Styles was unable to make the show in time and thus Booker would be replacing him in the main event. Before the bout, Booker said he was there to win the TNA World Title. He then added that he "doesn't give a damn about TNA or the fans." Booker ultimately fell short as he succumbed to the TNA World Heavyweight Champion following a Five-Star Frog Splash.

Booker lives in Houston, which is approximately two hours away from Lake Charles. He parted ways with the organization last fall.

UPDATE: According to sources in TNA, Booker's appearance was said to be a one time deal for the time being.

According to Dixie Carter on Twitter, she attended Mickie James’ album release party last night in Nashville, TN and was invited by Mickie herself. Dixie wrote the following on Twitter:

“Just left my first music showcase in a while. Wanna guess the artist? Mickie James. Thanks for the invite girl.”

*Spoilers* TNA iMPACT Tapings – May 20th
By Marc Middleton on May 17, 2010
    - Thanks to Tim Capture & WrestlingNewsworld.com for these TNA iMPACT spoilers, airing this Thursday night on Spike:

    * They’re doing a Make a Wish for a kid named Trent who wanted to compete in a ring. It’s Team 3D & Trent Dunn vs. Beer Money, Inc. Winner after a 3D through a table with Trent getting the pin, Team 3D & Trent Dunn.

    * The show is starting with a segment in the ring about the top ten contenders.

    * Eric Bischoff out w/ Ms. Tessmacher. He knows everybody has been waiting for the #1 contender to the championship. He, Hulk Hogan and Dixie Carter are the deciding committee and factor in win/losses, previous champions and fan votes.

    10. Samoa Joe
    9. Rob Terry
    8. Desmond Wolfe
    7. The Pope
    6. Abyss
    5. Mr. Anderson
    4. Jeff Hardy
    3. AJ Styles
    2. Kurt Angle
    1. Sting.

    * Everybody but Angle came out on the stage as their name was announced. Sting will face RVD for the title at Slammiversary. Samoa Joe left during the names being called. Sting came to the ring and Bischoff congratulated him on wrestling RVD for the title but tonight he’ll show he deserved it by wrestling Jeff Hardy. Sting smashes the signs in the ring with his baseball bat then says if he, Hogan and Dixie want change so bad he should change how he walks and then smashes Bischoff’s leg with his bat. All the babyfaces go in for the save but Sting uses the bat to keep them all away. Hardy gets the bat and gets in Sting’s face. Hardy then throws away the bat and Sting gives Hardy a low blow. RVD comes out and distracts Sting while Hardy recovers and hits a reverse DDT. Hardy goes up for a Swanton but Sting gets away.

    * Roxxi vs. Madison Rayne. Winner via cradle DDT stunner type move, Roxxi.

    * Kurt Angle is back and comes to the ring for a promo. He’s noticed some changes since he started here four years ago. He was one of the elite and one of the best. But with guys like Hardy, RVD and Mr. Anderson around plus guys who elevated themselves like AJ Styles and even Jay Lethal he’s not one of the best anymore. He says he’d wrestle for free. It was never about the money, it was about competing and being a winner. He says he’ll be a winner forever. He’s at a crossroads now and has accomplished everything you can do. He’s going to start from scratch and take his name off the top 10 list and wrestle everybody on the list. He promises to have some of the best matches you’ll ever see and that’s real, damn real.

    * Orlando Jordan is on the catwalk hooked up and ready to rappel down. Orlando Jordan (after being slowly lowered down) vs. Rob Terry. Terry is limping and his left leg is heavily bandaged. Hebner called for the bell while Jordan had Terry in a front ankle lock. I didn’t see Terry tap but Hebner gave the X sign. Jordan wouldn’t break the hold and all the referees rushed into help. Jordan broke the hold but attacked Terry again as he was being checked and put the ankle lock back on. He broke the hold again and left. No announcement of who won. Terry got helped to the back by security.

    * Beer Money, Inc. vs Jay Lethal (as just Jay Lethal, no Black Machismo) & Rob Van Dam. Lethal and RVD win after a Lethal figure four leglock to Robert Roode. Ric Flair came out afterwards and attacked Lethal on the ramp. They fought to the back as RVD watched on. RVD went around slapping hands with fans and Sting came out of the crowd and hit him with a chair, beat him up and then left. Hardy came out afterwards to check on RVD. Hardy gets in the ring and says he makes his living walking to the beat of a different drum but no one really knows what’s going on in his head. He grew up watching Sting and now he’s in TNA with him. He dares for Sting to figure out what’s in his mind now and says he and his creatures of the night will take him to the furthest reaches of his imagination.

    * Abyss comes out. He says Desmond Wolfe has something, or someone, he owes to him, so let’s do this. Chelsea is brought to the ring with security as Desmond Wolfe is furious and yelling at security. Abyss says it’s quite ironic because at Sacrifice he made Wolfe his bitch. Tonight he’s taking Desmond’s. Wolfe says what we have is a sense of false security. If he thinks Abyss is taking her he’s sorely mistaken and is taking her over his dead body. He takes out security and low blows Abyss. He takes a bottle out of Chelsea’s bag and breaks it. He uses the jagged bottle to cut Abyss up. Chelsea is upset and thinks it’s too much. Abyss uses the opportunity to black hole slam Desmond and put Chelsea on his shoulder so he can leave with her.

    * It’s Earl Hebner’s birthday.

    * Eric Young w/Scott Hall and Kevin Nash is out. Young gets on the mic and says he understands the boos. He’s got everything and you have nothing. He’s in the Band and you’re not. These are the only guys he respects. Nash is an ass kicker and gets booed for it. The only people who understand him are Young and Hall. The Band are here to stay and there’s nothing you can do about it.

    * Eric Young w/Scott Hall & Kevin Nash vs. Shannon Moore w/Jesse Neal. Team 3D come out and Jesse Neal goes after them. Nash gets up on the apron and distracts the ref, giving Nash a chance to hit Moore with his tag belt. Young then hits a piledriver for the win. After the match, Neal slides into check on Moore but Bubba takes him out. He slaps Neal in the face and says he brought him into the business and can take him out. Devon stops him and says he’s overreacting. Brother Ray argues with him and says he’s not. They leave and argue the whole time.

    * X Division Battle Royal: Homicide, Amazing Red, Generation Me, Brian Kendrick, Kazarian and the Motor City Machine Guns. Order of elimination: Amazing Red, Max Buck, Alex Shelley, Jeremy Buck, Chris Sabin, Homicide and Brian Kendrick. Winner: Kazarian

    * Sting vs. Jeff Hardy. The ref got knocked out. During this Sting went for a Scorpion Death Drop but Mr. Anderson gave Sting one instead. Hardy made the cover and got the pin. Anderson tries to celebrate the win with Hardy but Hardy pushes him away and they argue. Anderson goes into his pose for the mic to come down but Sting hits him and Hardy with his bat and takes off.

    Xplosion Match:

    * Okada vs. Douglas Williams. Winner via Chaos Theory, Douglas Williams.

**SPOILER** - Rumored New RAW General Manager Is ?
Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen It was announced during Monday's RAW that a new General Manager would be introduced the following week. A backstage segment with guest host Buzz Aldrin and Vickie Guerrero featured the announcement, after she resigned last week.

The man at the top of the running to be named General Manager of RAW is Abraham Washington. That was the plan last week but as always things can easily change. This is NOT confirmed. I can't stress that enough.

    new member of The Band?
    File:The Band TNA.jpg
Before Eric Young was chosen as the new member of The Band, there was talk of bringing Scott Steiner back to join the group or putting Sting in the group. There is still a chance that Sting will become involved with Hall and Nash.

Christian def. Dolph Ziggler (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The brash Dolph Ziggler has spent months trying to make a name for himself at the expense of many talented Superstars. Tonight, however, his opponent wasn’t the type of competitor he could use as a stepping stone. Riding the momentum of his amazing match against Edge from Monday’s commercial-free Raw, the always electrifying Christian entered the ring slightly sore, but extremely focused on his opponent. In his home country of Canada, Captain Charisma had thousands of very vocal Peeps behind him, giving him the energy to avoid Ziggler’s dreaded sleeper hold and Zig Zag and engage the Killswitch for the win.

Cody Rhodes def. Chris Masters (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After falling to Dolph Ziggler on last Thursday’s “WWE Superstars,” the impressive Chris Masters was looking to pick up a win this week. Unfortunately, Cody Rhodes was standing in his way. Although The Masterpiece had a major strength and size advantage over his opponent, the second-generation Superstar had the benefit of a life spent around the ring. This uncanny experience allowed Rhodes to slip out of a potentially devastating Master Lock and nail Cross Rhodes to seal the victory.

Goldust def. William Regal (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Two of WWE’s most talented and experienced veterans faced off on “WWE Superstars” when the bizarre Goldust locked up with the 2008 King of the Ring William Regal. Although each Superstar has spent years in the ring, their styles are wildly different. While Master Regal attempted to use his brutal kicks and mat skills to take The Bizarre One down, Goldust got the win thanks to his unpredictable offensive maneuvers.

Vladimir Kozlov def. Santino Marella (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Santino Marella may have been putting off the inevitable when he grabbed the microphone before his match with Vladimir Kozlov. After spewing some of his favorite lines from Rocky IV in an attempt to befriend the big man, the Italian Superstar gave Kozlov an ultimatum — either they walk out of the ring as tag team partners or Santino would have to unleash his fearsome offense on the Russian giant. Instead of answering Marella’s question, The Soviet Cyborg assaulted him with headbutts and then brutally slammed him to the mat. That must be how they say “no thanks” in Moscow.

    Wade Barrett def. Darren Young
    Justin Gabriel def. Heath Slater

OTTAWA, Canada – After the results of the latest crucial Pros’ Poll, the final four NXT Rookies have been determined. Either Wade Barrett, David “A-List” Otunga, Heath Slater or Justin Gabriel will win WWE NXT and be the next breakout WWE Superstar!

Darren Young was eliminated (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The latest Pros’ Poll results were revealed, and NXT Rookie Darren Young was the fourth competitor eliminated from WWE NXT. The South Beach Party Boy said he’d hoped elimination day would never come, and thanked the WWE Universe in attendance and at home for their support. He said the difference between he and the other NXT Rookies is that he has respect for the WWE Pros.

“I’m not going to come up here and holler and cry. I just want to say thank you. NXT is over for me,” Young said. “This is not the last time you will see Darren Young, you can believe that.”

The Pros’ Poll results were as follows:
    1. Wade Barrett
    2. David “A-List” Otunga
    3. Heath Slater
    4. Justin Gabriel
    5. Darren Young

The final four NXT Rookies move on to Week 14 of the competition and one will be eliminated next week. Return to WWE.com tomorrow for the results of the latest WWE Universe poll and vote for which of the final four is the No. 1 NXT Rookie.

Skip Sheffield spoke out about the Pros’ Poll (WATCH)
Eliminated as a result of last week’s Pros’ Poll, NXT Rookie Skip Sheffield told the WWE Universe why he thought he was sent packing. The Cornfed Meathead was convinced the WWE Pros were intimidated by his size, physique and intensity, and they took out the “biggest, baddest threat,” just like in the game of Survivor.

Justin Gabriel def. Heath Slater (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After coming off losses the previous week, NXT Rookies Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater faced off in singles action, hoping to make one last impression on the WWE Pros before the Pros’ Poll. With his WWE Pro, Matt Hardy, at ringside cheering him on, Gabriel hit a perfectly-timed 450 Splash on The One-Man Rock Band for the win in the highly-competitive, offense-heavy match. After the match, the NXT Rookies and WWE Pros Hardy and Christian shook hands in a sign of good sportsmanship. Gabriel’s record was upped to 6-3, while Slater’s dropped to 5-5.

Eliminated NXT Rookies spoke out (PHOTOS)
NXT Rookies Michael Tarver and Daniel Bryan came before the WWE Universe to speak their minds one week after they were eliminated by WWE Management.

Tarver questioned the identity of WWE Management, calling them “easily-intimidated pencil pushers” and said he was trying to get noticed by being “revolutionary” when he refused to participate in competitions. (WATCH)

Daniel Bryan defiantly defended his time on WWE NXT, stating he was a “self-made man” who wasn’t “invented by the WWE machine.” (WATCH)

“WWE needs to pick guys who are the best people for this job and the best person for this job is me,” Bryan said.

The former independent star called out the WWE Pros and said they know just how good he is. He also called out WWE NXT announcer Michael Cole, who had been berating Daniel Bryan all season. A very confident Daniel Bryan called Cole “a parrot with Vince McMahon in his ear telling him what to say” then approached the announce table with an intense determination. Daniel Bryan unabashedly attacked Cole with a slap across the face, referred to him as “a poor man’s replacement for J.R.,” then knocked Cole to the ground and began stomping him until WWE Officials and host Matt Striker pulled Daniel Bryan off of Cole.

Wade Barrett def. Darren Young (PHOTOS | WATCH)
With his encouraging WWE Pro, Chris Jericho, at ringside, Wade Barrett dominated fellow NXT Rookie, Darren Young. The British bareknuckle brawler heeded Jericho’s advice and defeated Young with his devastating finisher, while The South Beach Party Boy received no support from his WWE Pro, CM Punk, who watched the match from the stage. Barrett’s record increased to 7-4, while Young’s dropped to the same – 7-4.

The WWE Pros discussed the NXT Rookies (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Before casting their critical Pros’ Poll votes, the WWE Pros discussed the NXT Rookies. The WWE Pros told the WWE Universe what it takes to be WWE’s next breakout Superstar who will earn a future championship match on a WWE pay-per-view.

One WWE source indicated to f4wonline.com that it would not be surprising to see the recently released Shelton Benjamin return to the company.

Several months before his termination last month, Benjamin returned to college. He will be receiving his degree at the end of this semester from the University of Minnesota.

Randy Orton def. Jack Swagger by Disqualification
Evan Bourne & Gail Kim def. Zack Ryder & Alicia Fox
WWE Champion John Cena def. Sheamus by Disqualification

TORONTO – With just six days before Over the Limit, special guest host Buzz Aldrin, one of the famed astronauts aboard the first manned mission to the moon, blasted the WWE Universe into orbit on a commercial-free Raw.

WWE Champion John Cena def. Sheamus by Disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
There may have been only six days left until his title match at Over the Limit, but WWE Champion John Cena was willing to risk injury in a fight against Sheamus. The Champ needed to set the Irishman right, so that he wouldn’t interfere in his title match against Batista. With heightened animosity over the past several months, tempers between Cena and The Celtic Warrior were set to boil.

While the two brawny brawlers went at each other like a pair of tractor trailers playing chicken, The Animal interrupted the ultimate collision when he popped up. He locked his Over the Limit opponent in a brutal submission hold and demanded that he say, “I quit.” When Raw went off the air, Cena was still locked in The Animal’s clutches but had still refused to utter those two words. But will he be able to summon that resolve in six days at Over the Limit?

Jon Lovitz to serve as Raw’s special guest host next week
Just 24 hours after Over the Limit, actor and comedian Jon Lovitz will try to restore order in the aftermath when he serves as special guest host next week. Be sure to tune in when Lovitz, a Saturday Night Live alum, brings his unique comedy to Monday Night.

Evan Bourne & Gail Kim def. Zack Ryder & Alicia Fox (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Special guest host Buzz Aldrin, an astronaut aboard the first manned mission to the moon, offered his thanks to the Canadian audience and their country for all the help they’ve given the U.S. space program throughout the years. Long Island Loudmouth Zack Ryder wasn’t convinced. When Ryder questioned the veracity of the moon landing, Aldrin quickly placed him in a match with Alicia Fox against Evan Bourne & Canadian native Gail Kim.

With the Air Canada Centre cheering him on, “Air” Bourne & Kim had little difficulty knocking Ryder & Fox back down to earth. After their victory, Bourne and Kim were joined in celebration by Aldrin.

Randy Orton def. Jack Swagger by Disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After spooning out his poison to Edge earlier in the evening, it was time for Randy Orton to take his medicine. In their Pick Your Poison Match, The Ultimate Opportunist chose World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger to battle The Viper just six days before Over the Limit. Having defeated Orton at Extreme Rules, Swagger appeared to be a particularly shrewd choice. The Viper, however, showed why there are never any good choices when it comes to him. His Over the Limit opponent Edge interfered in the match, prompting a disqualification, before Orton struck “The All-American American” with an RKO. The Rated-R Superstar then hammered WWE's Apex Predator with a Spear.

Maryse, Women’s Champion Layla & Michelle McCool def. The Bella Twins & Divas Champion Eve (PHOTOS | WATCH)
When Divas Champion Eve retaliated against Maryse in the women’s locker room earlier in the night, beating her tormentor for an unprovoked attack two weeks earlier, it was questionable whether or not the conceited Canadian would compete. When the time came, though, Maryse stood alongside Women’s Champion Layla & Michelle McCool as the three faced off against Eve & The Bella Twins. Perhaps energized by competing in her native country, Maryse rallied and pinned Nikki Bella to capture the win for her team.

Bret Hart def. United States Champion The Miz (PHOTOS | WATCH)
During the no disqualification, no count-out bout for the United States Title, it seemed as if half of Canada had charged the ring. Before beloved Canadian Bret Hart battled The Miz, the U.S. Champion employed enforcers William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov to watch the ring. To combat the duo, Unified Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty fought them off. During the melee, Chris Jericho and Miz entered the ring and surrounded The “Hit Man.” The Hart family, however, had the back of one of their own.

When Miz attempted to lock the Sharpshooter onto Hart, The Hart Dynasty leveled the loudmouth, allowing The “Hit Man” to lock in his signature maneuver himself for the win and championship gold.

Ted DiBiase (accompanied by Virgil) def. Yoshi Tatsu (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After a fruitless search to find a suitable “Virgil,” Ted DiBiase instead acquired the original. The one-and-only Virgil, man-servant to DiBiase’s father, The Million Dollar Man, accompanied DiBiase to the ring before his match against Yoshi Tatsu. After defeating the Japanese sensation, The “Fortunate Son” summoned Virgil into the ring and explained that if his Over the Limit opponent, R-Truth, wouldn’t be his man-servant, he’d buy the original Virgil, who will now be in DiBiase’s corner on Sunday.

Mark Henry vs. Batista ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH)
When Batista forced Mark Henry to tap out last week, he proved he’s got what it takes to compete with WWE Champion John Cena in an “I Quit” Match at Over the Limit. Sadly for Henry, The Animal decided to submit more proof. As The World’s Strongest Man approached the ring for their bout, Batista ambushed him from behind with a 2 x 4 before the opening bell. Even when he was down, the No. 1 contender to the WWE Title continued pummeling the powerhouse. Message sent.

Special guest host Buzz Aldrin: new Raw GM announced next week (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After Vickie Guerrero tried to grovel her way back into the Raw General Manager position, she was rebuffed by special guest host Buzz Aldrin. The famed astronaut informed her that not only is her reign over, but next week, a new Raw GM will be announced.

Edge def. Christian; The Undertaker def. Edge (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In the run-up to their match at Over the Limit, Edge and Randy Orton engaged in a Pick Your Poison Match, in which your opponent gets to choose your competition. In the case of Edge, The Viper ripped a page from his past and apparently chose Christian. Rather than let old alliances distract him, The Rated-R Superstar defeated his former partner with a Spear. All done then, right? Not so fast.

Orton emerged again to inform his rival that his competition would actually be … The Undertaker! While The Ultimate Opportunist purposefully lost by count-out, Captain Charisma wrangled him back inside the ring, where The Deadman greeted him with a chokeslam.

Chris Jericho confronted Bret Hart (PHOTOS)
Last week, United States Champion The Miz lost to The Hart Dynasty’s Tyson Kidd and was forced to choose a member of the Hart family he must face in a U.S. Championship Match. His choice? Bret Hart.

Kicking off the broadcast, Hart explained to his countrymen why he would not be competing. Just when it seemed he would remain firm in his decision, fellow Canadian Chris Jericho appeared to confront him. Miz’s partner berated the WWE Hall of Famer, finally goading him into accepting the title bout with no disqualifications and no count-outs.

Hulk Hogan has a heart scare; details
Posted by Mark Virginia on 05/18/2010 at 11:40 AM

Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan had a big medical scare this week after doctors thought they found an abnormality with his heart.

Hogan is set to undergo another back surgery in the coming weeks and has been going through the usual battery of pre-op medical tests to insure he's healthy enough to go under the knife. According to TMZ.com, doctors discovered a problem with his Electrocardiography (EKG), which monitors a patient's heart function.

Sources close to Hulk tell TMZ.com that Hogan was sent to a cardiovascular specialist in Florida for further testing. After another extensive round of medical tests, doctors were able to medically clear Hulk who was understandably "very worried" during the whole process.

Hogan's heart has been deemed healthy and he's scheduled to undergo back surgery soon.

    - Former WWE star Kevin Thorne is at the Impact Zone, according to sources within the company. His presence in the venue could mean he may be working the tapings tonight. He’s had several tryouts previously, but was never hired on.

    - Former TNA Knockout Roxxi is also in Orlando and is expected to work this weeks taping. She was released from TNA this past March, after having broken her ankle in two places in December.

More on TNA cutbacks; Dixie against releases?
Posted by Mark Virginia on 05/17/2010 at 03:23 PM

According to F4WOnline.com, while some backstage
names have been pushing TNA to cut "many, many" wrestlers as part of the current budget trimming initiative, TNA President Dixie Carter herself is said to be opposed to releasing any talent.

With that being said, talent cuts are still expected to be made.
