Former WWE Diva says she was held back

Former WWE Diva says she was held back
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 04/09/2010 at 02:13 PM

Former WWE Maria Kanellis appeared on the "One Sided Ring" podcast this week and said she says WWE holds back their Divas by not giving the division enough exposure or the women a chance to let their personalities across. Here are some highlights of what she said about:

Being held back: "I wasn't allowed to do as much as I wanted to do. I had all these great, creative ideas and was constantly entering them into the WWE creative, but I couldn't use a lot of them," Maria said. "The Divas weren't given enough time, which I think is a horrible, horrible disadvantage that the girls have. I felt like I was held back - all the time.

"I wonder what would really happen if the Divas were given that much time," she said. "I don't know if it's that they think the Divas can't sell tickets, but I truly believe in the Divas division and always will. I think they are missing out on a lot of talent right there."

Being a backstage interviewer for MMA events on HDNet: "That's one reason I'm not sad [WWE] fired me. I got eight minutes of time on an MMA show to just talk to people and that was amazing," she said. "WWE never gave me eight minutes the entire time I was there."

Matt Hardy talks about the chance to "step up"
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 04/09/2010 at 10:39 AM

ESPN has a new article up with wrestler quotes from the WWE-THQ Superstars Challenge that took place during Wrestlemania weekend in Phoenix. Matt Hardy said the following about his career:

"I actually have a couple of other ideas for myself in real life as well, but I'm not set on where I want to go just yet. There's going to be some time coming up where guys like The Undertaker and Triple H are going to need to take some time off, and there's going to be opportunities for guys like Matt Hardy and Christian to step up. I'm really motivated and ready to rededicate myself, especially after overcoming such severe injuries."

Orlando Jordan talks about his new character

Orlando Jordan talks about his new character

    - Outsports.com has a new article up on Orlando Jordan’s bi-sexual angle, based on his real life, in TNA.

Regarding Orlando being the first open bi-sexual wrestler, he said, “There’s a very small percent of people who empower society on a global basis. Maybe one percent. If everyone was a pioneer, it’d make things a lot easier. But that’s not the case. And there’s a price that comes with being a pioneer, but I would not expect anything less because that’s who I am.”

What does Jordan look to accomplish with the controversial character in TNA? He said, “I really hope this character helps troubled teens, be it [those struggling] because of their race or their sexuality. If this character makes life even just a little bit easier for someone else, then I’ll be really happy.”

TNA Wanted A Top ROH Star

TNA officials aired interest in Roderick Strong when his contract with Ring of Honor expired. However, TNA didn't issue a contract offer and he ended up re-signing with ROH.

On another note, Strong is WWE wrestler Evan 'Matt Sydal' Bourne's roommate in real-life.

    Beth Phoenix def. Layla
Evan Bourne & Yoshi Tatsu def. Chavo Guerrero & Zack Ryder
    MVP def. Carlito

With one of WWE’s most career-threatening events, Extreme Rules, less than three weeks away, tensions continue to rise in the ring. This anxiety was on full display on tonight’s “WWE Superstars” where Divas clashed, Superstars took to the air and a shaky alliance continued to crumble.

Don’t know where to catch “WWE Superstars”? Find WGN America in your area. Can't see “WWE Superstars” on WGN America in your area? Stay with WWE.com for full results, photos and video clips of all the action.

MVP def. Carlito (PHOTOS | WATCH)
As NXT Rookie Michael Tarver’s WWE Pro, Carlito’s job is to show this newcomer how it’s done in the ring. Tonight, however, the Puerto Rican Superstar failed to teach his NXT Rookie a lesson. Instead, he ended up on the receiving end of a devastating Playmaker from MVP and lost his bout. What’s even more frustrating for Carlito is that it was Tarver’s botched interference that led to his loss. How will the apple-spitting Superstar deal with his winless NXT Rookie?

Evan Bourne & Yoshi Tatsu def. Chavo Guerrero & Zack Ryder (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Two of Raw’s most exciting Superstars joined forces this week as Evan Bourne & Yoshi Tatsu teamed to take on the arrogant duo of Chavo Guerrero & Zack Ryder. While the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior” and The Long Island Loudmouth proved to be worthy opponents, the two simply weren’t able to keep up with the explosive offense of Bourne & Tatsu. In the end, “Air” Bourne nailed Chavo with a breathtaking Shooting Star Press to pick up the victory for his team.

Beth Phoenix def. Layla (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Beth Phoenix would like nothing more than to get her hands on Women’s Champion Michelle McCool, but at the beginning of this week’s “WWE Superstars,” Vickie Guerrero made it clear she’ll make sure that never happens. Claiming that The Glamazon is “too manly” for a Women’s Championship opportunity, the Official SmackDown Consultant said Beth would never get near the title.

Unsurprisingly, Vickie’s controversial statements enraged The Glamazon, resulting in a rough night for the always annoying Layla. Battering her opponent with serious power maneuvers and a devastating Glam Slam, Beth picked up the victory and made it clear that she’s coming for McCool’s Women’s Championship — whether Vickie likes it or not.

Goldberg wil nog 1 match en dat is op WM 27

Goldberg open to one final match at WM 27
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 04/08/2010 at 03:42 PM

In an interview with ESPN.com to promote his new show "Garage Mahal" on the DIY cable network, former WWE & WCW Champion Bill Goldberg says he's open to wrestling one final match at next year's WrestleMania from Atlanta, Georgia.

"It's not something that I'm seeking out to do at 43 years old. But you know, WrestleMania is next year in Atlanta. Hulk Hogan and I put 43,000 people in the Georgia Dome with three days notice. I've got a fairly big following in Atlanta," Goldberg said. "Is it out of the realm of possibility? I'd say no."

Goldberg recently began working with WWE again on a new deal for WWE to use his likeness for merchandise (toys, appearing in WWE video games, etc.) and says he'd put himself back in the spotlight so his young son can see him in action.

"The doors are kind of open to negotiation as far as a merchandising deal. If it leads to something else? It's a wonderful day," Goldberg said."If not, I'm totally content with the way I went out. To be able to get merchandise out there not only satiates the fans but hopefully there have been a lot of people wondering where my merchandise is. The reason why I want to do this is my boy; just trying to be a good father."

    New heel faction in WWE

    New heel faction in WWE

    - According to the F4WOnline.com, when the call was made to eliminate the Legacy faction, WWE wanted to form a new group with Ted DiBiase at the center.

Plans called for DiBiase to team with his brother Brett and rising superstar Joe Hennig (son of the late "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig) in a group called "The Fortunate Sons." DiBiase referenced that title during his promo on RAW this week.

Whether WWE will still go forward with that idea remains to be seen.

    TNA TO GET EXTREME?

TNA may be dipping into the 90s well again as there has been much talk of starting a faction consisting of former ECW wrestlers.

ECW alumni presently on the roster include Rob Van Dam, Brother Ray, Brother Devon, Rhino, Raven, Dr. Stevie and Taz. Also, the former Spike Dudley worked an episode of iMPACT! a few weeks ago not to mention that Tommy Dreamer has been rumored to join the promotion as an on-air performer.

    Darren Young def. Daniel Bryan
    Justin Gabriel def. Michael Tarver
Wade Barrett def. David “A-List” Otunga
    Kane def. Heath Slater

CHICAGO – The competition intensified to new levels during week seven of WWE NXT. After last week’s Pros’ Poll results were revealed, each NXT Rookie fought even harder to prove he should become WWE’s next breakout star.

Kane def. Heath Slater (PHOTOS | WATCH)
NXT Rookie Heath Slater impressed the WWE Universe earlier in the evening, winning the Keg Carrying Challenge, receiving a main event match against Kane. The Big Red Machine defeated all eight NXT Rookies by disqualification last week on SmackDown, and despite a strong fight from Slater, Kane bested the one-man rock band on WWE NXT. A confident Slater fearlessly fought The Big Red Monster, but ultimately fell to the dominant Kane’s vicious chokeslam. Slater’s record fell to 4-2.

Wade Barrett def. David “A-List” Otunga (PHOTOS | WATCH)
One night after being the special guest host of Monday Night Raw, NXT Rookie David “A-List” Otunga lost a singles match to Wade Barrett, who hit the “A-Lister” with his devastating finisher. Bareknuckle brawler, Barrett, upped his record to 4-3, while Otunga’s dropped to 4-2.

Justin Gabriel def. Michael Tarver (PHOTOS | WATCH)
NXT Rookie Michael Tarver’s woes continued on WWE NXT. After being disqualified from the Keg Challenge when he dropped the 160-pound-plus keg, Tarver lost to NXT Rookie Justin Gabriel in singles action. Gabriel, who ranked No. 2 in this week’s WWE.com poll, hit Tarver with a breathtaking 450 Splash for the win, increasing his record to 4-2. Tarver’s winless record fell to 0-5.

Darren Young def. Daniel Bryan (PHOTOS | WATCH)
NXT Rookies Darren Young and Daniel Bryan met in one-on-one action this week. Young, who ranked No. 8 in last week’s Pros’ Poll, looked ready to prove his worth to the WWE Pros and the WWE Universe with a win over No. 1-ranked Daniel Bryan. While Bryan once again tapped into his impressive arsenal of submission moves, it was Young who got the pin, upping his record to 4-2. Bryan’s winless streak continued, dropping his record to 0-7.

WWE NXT WWE.com Poll results revealed (POLL RESULTS)
Last week on WWE NXT, the WWE Pros’ Poll revealed that despite his winless record, NXT Rookie Daniel Bryan was No. 1, while NXT Rookie Darren Young was No. 8. WWE.com polled the WWE Universe to rank the NXT Rookies themselves, and with more than 150,000 votes, the results are in!

Heath Slater wins a Keg Carrying Challenge (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The NXT Rookies took another giant step in their journeys on WWE NXT during week seven of competition. After discussing the results of last week’s Pros’ Poll with host Matt Striker, the NXT Rookies faced off in a Keg Carrying Challege. NXT Rookie Heath Slater finished first, carrying the more than 160-pound keg around the outside of the ring in an impressive time of 12 seconds!

“Chicago I’ve been telling you since I’ve been here. Health Slater is going to blow your mind in NXT baby!” the "one-man rock band" told the WWE.com. His prize? A main event match against Kane!

NXT Rookie Skip Sheffield finished in second in 12.4 seconds, and later told Striker he thought the Keg Challenge was fixed. (WATCH) Finally, NXT Rookie Daniel Bryan, who is ranked No. 1 in both the WWE Pros’ Poll and the WWE.com Poll, finished last in 24.9 seconds.

The NXT Rookies will continue to be subjected to challenges that will test the physical and mental skills it takes to be the next breakout WWE Superstar. In five weeks, the second Pros’ Poll will be revealed and the NXT Rookie in last place will be eliminated!

What you didn't see on RAW this week
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 04/06/2010 at 12:35 PM

After last night's RAW went off the air, guest host David Otunga came back to the ring while John Cena was still laid out. Otunga said Batista didn't have to wait until Extreme Rules to get his rematch against Cena, he could have it now.

Batista went for a quick pin but ends up tapping out to Cena's STF after only a minute into the match, which the crowd popped big for.

Cena then called Otunga back to the ring, hit him with the Attitude Adjustment and made him tap out to end the night.

    Ted DiBiase def. Christian
Randy Orton def. World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger in a Non-Title Match
Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz def. WWE Champion John Cena & David Otunga

MOLINE, Ill. – When David “A-List” Otunga won an Eight-Man Battle Royal to earn the honor of special guest host, the NXT Rookie didn’t forget to bring his “A” games to Monday Night Raw.

Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz def. WWE Champion John Cena & David Otunga; Batista invoked rematch at Extreme Rules (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Special guest host David Otunga didn’t just burn a bridge tonight, he incinerated it. Having teamed himself with WWE Champion John Cena in a title match against Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz, the NXT Rookie turned his back on The Champ. The brazen betrayal allowed Batista to enter the fray and attack Cena mercilessly.

Following a Batista Bomb, The Animal told Cena he was invoking his rematch clause for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules in a Last Man Standing Match!

David Hasselhoff acts as special guest host next week
The multi-talented David Hasselhoff brings his success as a singer, actor and producer to Monday Night Raw next week when he takes over as special guest host. When it comes to “The Hoff,” there’s no telling what might happen, so tune to catch it all live!

Randy Orton def. World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger in a Non-Title Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger came up snake eyes – again. For two weeks straight, “The All-American American” has succumbed to the coiled strike of The Viper. In a non-title contest, the newly-minted World Heavyweight Champion failed to capitalize on his momentum from Friday Night SmackDown, while Randy Orton continues to slither to victory.

2010 WWE Draft coming April 26 on a special 3-hour Raw (FULL STORY)
Tune in to Monday Night Raw at 8 p.m. ET on April 26 for a special 3-hour event to witness the unpredictable WWE Draft. Just one night after the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, every Superstar in the WWE Universe is subject to the Draft, which is certain to realign the dynamic of both Raw and SmackDown.

Ted DiBiase def. Christian (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Last week, it became apparent that all is not well in the House of DiBiase. After the Legends Lumberjack Match that he lost to Christian, Ted DiBiase rejected a helping hand from his father, “The Million Dollar Man.” This week, the younger DiBiase elected for a rematch, this time without his father or any WWE Legends in attendance. After berating his WWE Hall of Fame father, DiBiase went on to overcome the challenge of Captain Charisma - and show off his father's Million Dollar Championship, which he brought with him to the ring.

Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz def. WWE Champion John Cena & Batista by Count-out ; David Otunga arranged Show-Miz vs. Cena & Otunga (PHOTOS)
For the sake of teamwork, John Cena & Batista appeared to try putting animosities behind them. Unfortunately, bad feelings from the last few months came crashing to the fore. In their title match against Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz, the WWE Champion and The Animal simply weren’t content to let bygones be bygones. Instead, Batista left up the ramp, where his partner chased him down and began pummeling him, prompting the tag team bout to end in a Count-out.

The ending did not satisfy self-proclaimed “A-Lister” David Otunga. As a result, the special guest host arranged a new Unified Tag Team Match: Show-Miz vs. Cena & Otunga, himself!

Eve won Red Carpet “Dress to Impress” Battle Royal; Eve vs. Maryse for Divas Title next week (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The sexy, smart and powerful women of WWE really are multi-talented. Not only do they know how to fill out an evening gown, they’re not too shabby at wrestling in them either. A “Dress to Impress” Battle Royal pitted Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox, Gail Kim, Rosa Mendes, Jillian, Katie Lea, The Bella Twins and Eve against one other with the winner earning a Divas Championship Match next week. When the sequins finally settled, it was the gorgeous Eve who emerged victorious and will face Maryse next week for the title.

Sheamus def. Kofi Kingston (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Sheamus continues to demonstrate his piping mad temper. After last week’s despicable clubbing of Triple H during his farewell address to friend Shawn Michaels, The Celtic Warrior once again wielded a steel pipe, this time using it to thrash Kofi Kingston – even when the Irishman had already prevailed in their match.

Afterward, Sheamus called out Triple H, the man who defeated him at WrestleMania. The Game, however, had learned his lesson. As Sheamus threatened to end his career, Triple H pulled out a sledgehammer and nailed The Celtic Warrior, which sent him scrambling from the ring.

Special guest host, NXT Rookie David Otunga, arranged World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger vs. Randy Orton and Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz vs. WWE Champion John Cena & Batista (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Jack Swagger’s manners may be lacking, but his timing last week proved nearly flawless. “The All-American American” cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on SmackDown in the wake of the then-World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho suffering a Spear from Edge. After a mere nine seconds against Jericho, Swagger claimed his first World Heavyweight Title.

In his so-called “State of the World Heavyweight Championship Address,” Swagger took the opportunity to verbally jab WWE Champion John Cena, who responded by challenging the chest-beating braggart to a match. Not content flying under the radar, both Randy Orton and The Miz each demanded that they fight Swagger.

Instead, Raw’s special guest host, NXT Rookie David Otunga, silenced the raucous row. Otunga, who landed the prime hosting gig by winning an Eight-Man Battle Royal, arranged two matches for later in the evening: Swagger will take on Randy Orton and Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & Miz will defend their titles against The Champ and his partner … Batista!
