RVD comments on signing with TNA
Posted by Mark Virginia on 03/05/2010 at 10:53 AM

The big news yesterday came from a radio appearance by Hulk Hogan where he talked about a major name that just signed with TNA and strongly implied that the major name is Rob Van Dam. RVD posted a message on his official website (robvandam.com) stating:

"Wow, my phone has been buzzing all day, and not just because the room's been smokey. Ever have one of those days where you can't send out a text before two texts interrupt you. My attention span has been so distracted, I forget who I've called by the time the phone stops ringing and someone answers all the time. And not just because the room is smokey either."

Van Dam stated that he'll be making a number of radio appearances this morning (Friday) to address the TNA rumors. Van Dam appeared on Greenville, South Carolina's New Rock 93.3 station this morning and said the following about signing with TNA:

"I would say there is a high probability that that's going to happen. The official word is that it's still rumor and I haven't officially signed anything. It's been well-publicized news that I've been talking to both WWE and TNA. But, talks with TNA are sounding really good lately."

Posted by Mark Virginia on 03/04/2010 at 02:22 PM

Spike TV's official Twitter page posted the following message:

"RT @TNA_FANS: HULK HOGAN confirms "Mr. Monday Night" RVD has signed with TNA Wrestling! http://bit.ly/cZ9HmK @SPIKE_TV"

According to prowrestling.net, TNA is not pleased with this news being leaked. It's possible that Hogan did the radio interview, not realizing that the video being shot of him would end up on YouTube immediately.

    TNA has "sneaky" plans?

They finally get control. Hogan gets a mic and says in four days it's on. Pope, Hogan and Abyss are in the ring being held back. Pope breaks free and goes after AJ but gets stopped. He breaks free again but gets stopped. Now AJ and Wolfe break free and try to attack but get stopped. Hogan has the belt and is posing with it but AJ rushes in and attacks. Free for all again. Pope gets the bat and swings it wildly and that clears the ring to end Impact.

Darren Young def. David “A-List” Otunga
    Wade Barrett def. Daniel Bryan
Matt Hardy & Justin Gabriel def. William Regal & Skip Sheffield

WICHITA, Kan. — In the thrilling second edition of WWE NXT, the stakes in this potentially life-altering competition came into view. At the end of the season, a Rookie’s success or failure will be determined by votes from the WWE Pros. The catch? The Pros cannot vote for or against their own Rookies. So these eight young contenders aren’t only competing to impress the WWE Universe with their talent and charisma, but the Pros they are facing in the ring. (WATCH)

Who will be catapulted to Superstardom and who will fade into oblivion? Stay tuned to WWE NXT to find out.

Matt Hardy & Justin Gabriel def. William Regal & Skip Sheffield (PHOTOS | WATCH)
William Regal and his Rookie, the self-proclaimed “cornfed meathead” Skip Sheffield, haven’t exactly been seeing eye to eye. Claiming that his mentee has “the personality of an open grave,” Regal has said working with the massive Texan has been the biggest challenge of his career.

This disconnect between Rookie and Pro gave Matt Hardy and his Rookie, Justin Gabriel, the advantage going into tonight’s tag bout. While Regal & Sheffield bickered, the exciting duo of Hardy & Gabriel worked together like a seasoned team. With their opponents reeling, Hardy tagged in his Rookie, allowing the high-flying South African sensation to nail The British Brawler with a 450 splash to pick up the win. This major victory marked the first time an NXT Rookie has pinned a WWE Pro.

Wade Barrett def. Daniel Bryan (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Still tending to his bruised ribs after last Tuesday’s epic encounter with World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan was given a rude awakening by his WWE Pro, The Miz. While in the middle of a session with a WWE trainer, Bryan was interrupted by the United States Champion who informed him that WWE Superstars have to compete even when they’re hurt and then sent him out to face Jericho’s NXT Rookie, Wade Barrett. (WATCH)

Ever the warrior, the talented Rookie stepped up to the challenge and attacked his larger opponent with everything he had. But Bryan’s amazing tenacity wasn’t enough to overcome the severity of his injury or the 270-pound bare-knuckle fighter standing in front of him. The massive Barrett focused on the wounded midsection of The Miz’s Rookie, repeatedly drilling him into the mat before picking up the pin. To add to Bryan’s suffering, Chris Jericho entered the ring after the bout and put the agonized competitor in the Walls of Jericho.

Darren Young def. David “A-List” Otunga (PHOTOS | WATCH)
On last Tuesday’s debut edition of WWE NXT, Darren Young suffered a quick loss to the imposing and confident David Otunga due in part to a lack of guidance from Young’s WWE Pro, CM Punk. This week, however, the South Beach party boy got a helping hand from The Straight Edge Savior and his loyal followers, Serena & Luke Gallows.

While the impressive Rookies battled evenly in the early goings of the match, Young was given a window of opportunity after Punk grabbed Otunga’s leg. With the red carpet Rookie distracted, the powerful Young slammed his opponent to the mat and scored his first win on WWE NXT. Frustrated with his loss, Otunga shoved his WWE Pro, R-Truth, after the match.

World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho def. Goldust
    Kane def. Mike Knox
    Evan Bourne def. William Regal
    Kofi Kingston def. Chavo Guerrero

With WrestleMania less than four weeks away, the action heated up on “WWE Superstars” with a battle between SmackDown’s most fearsome monsters and a thrilling match featuring World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho.

Don’t know where to catch “WWE Superstars”? Find WGN America in your area. Can't see “WWE Superstars” on WGN America in your area? Stay with WWE.com for full results, photos and video clips of all the action.

World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho def. Goldust (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Mere weeks before he defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Edge at WrestleMania, Chris Jericho took on the bizarre Goldust. While the SmackDown loudmouth entered the ring with his usual arrogance, he soon found himself pushed to the limit by his unique opponent. Fighting with everything he had, Goldust nearly pinned Jericho multiple times before getting caught with the Codebreaker. The Bizarre One may have lost the match, but he proved that he could hold his own with the World Heavyweight Champion.

Kane def. Mike Knox (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Through hellfire and brimstone, Kane stomped to the ring on “WWE Superstars” to face one of his greatest rivals, the monstrous Mike Knox. For months, these two giants have battled to determine who is SmackDown’s true monster with Kane coming out on top more often than not. Tonight was no different as The Big Red Monster manhandled the bearded behemoth in a vicious clash before finishing him off with a devastating chokeslam.

Evan Bourne def. William Regal (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Since becoming an unwilling mentor to giant Texan Skip Sheffield on WWE NXT, William Regal has been even more irritable than usual. His performance against Evan Bourne tonight was indicative of this as The British Brawler continually grew frustrated with his wily opponent. While Regal attempted to ground Bourne with an array of brutal submission holds, he simply couldn’t slow down the hyperkinetic Superstar. In the end, the Raw high-flyer nailed Regal with a picture perfect Shooting Star Press to pick up the win.

Kofi Kingston def. Chavo Guerrero (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Thursday’s “WWE Superstars” kicked off with Kofi Kingston using his educated feet to batter Chavo Guerrero. Although the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior’s” third-generation skills allowed him to control his opponent for much of the bout, Kingston eventually found his opening, executing some dazzling aerial maneuvers. With Guerrero reeling, the former United States Champion hit Trouble in Paradise to claim the victory.

Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz def. DX

OKLAHOMA CITY - With Cheech and Chong acting as special guest hosts, the WWE Universe held on for a few loopy twists and trippy turns on The Road to WrestleMania.

Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz def. DX (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In what could possibly be their last match together, DX had hoped to exit on a triumphant note. A couple of black and white distractions, however, left the duo seeing red. Triple H & Shawn Michaels appeared to be holding their own against Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show & The Miz during their title match. Not surprisingly, The Undertaker would prove to be the death of their momentum. When The Deadman appeared on the arena’s TitanTron, HBK became distracted, allowing himself to get pinned. An enraged Michaels stormed off leaving his partner behind. That, too, would be regrettable.

Alone and unwitting, The Game was ambushed by former WWE Champion Sheamus, who clotheslined Triple H out of the ring. And, for good measure, The Celtic Warrior kicked him again over the announcer’s table.

Next week’s special guest host, Criss Angel
Prepare to freaked, WWE Universe. Next week, the “Mindfreak” himself, Criss Angel, brings his seriously demented sensibilities to Raw when he drops by to act as special guest host.

Bret Hart accepted Mr. McMahon’s WrestleMania challenge (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Broken bones be damned! That’s how strong Bret Hart’s anger is toward Mr. McMahon. After suffering a broken leg in an auto accident two weeks ago on Raw, the WWE Hall of Famer appeared to say a final farewell to the WWE Universe, but The Chairman had other ideas. Instead, he provoked his longtime nemesis, hoping to get Hart to agree to a match at WrestleMania. Knowing he’ll be at a distinct disadvantage, even with recovery time, The “Hit Man” accepted Mr. McMahon’s challenge. All of which means, more than 12 years of hostilities will finally come to a head inside the squared circle at WrestleMania. Perhaps in preparation, The Chairman even announced that he will face John Cena next Monday on Raw.

2010 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee announcement: “Mad Dog” Vachon (MORE)
A true original and a member of one of wrestling’s legendary families, “Mad Dog” Vachon has been announced as the latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2010. One of the ring’s original bad boys, and the uncle of Diva Luna Vachon, “Mad Dog” will be inducted at the Hall of Fame Ceremony the night before WrestleMania.

Eve def. Divas Champion Maryse, Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, Jillian and Alicia Fox in a Diva Pajama Pillow Fight Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Dude, it was like something from a dream. After indulging in Hornswoggle’s “unique” cereal, special guest hosts Cheech & Chong decided it would be far out to have a Diva Pajama Pillow Fight Match featuring Divas Champion Maryse, Eve, Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim, Jillian and Alicia Fox. Man, were they right.

With the comedic duo watching from the announcer’s table, Eve demonstrated her pillow prowess and emerged victorious after all the feathers flew. Even Hornswoggle popped up to rain his “unique” cereal down on the special guest hosts. Trippy, man, trippy.

MVP def. Zack Ryder in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Despite having his sweetheart Rosa Mendes in his corner, Long Island’s own Zack Ryder simply couldn’t overcome the athleticism of MVP. The Ballin’ Superstar showed Ryder – one of Raw’s newest acquisitions from ECW – exactly what the situation was when he put a stop to the Zack Attack and qualified for the Money in the Bank Match at WrestleMania. The Franchise Playa joined Christian, Kane, Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger in the prestigious ladder joust.

John Cena confronted WWE Champion Batista (PHOTOS | WATCH)
There was one place not to be on Monday night: Between two of the biggest, baddest Superstars WWE has ever known. After getting popped last week with a low blow from WWE Champion Batista, John Cena called out The Animal. Accompanied by a security detail, Batista confronted his WrestleMania rival, telling him that the security was to ensure he doesn’t decimate Cena like he did the week before.

The men traded barbs before The Animal told Cena that he attacked him because he feels cheated, cheated that it is Cena who has become the “face of WWE.” While the two men started in WWE at the same time, Cena has emerged the more high-profile Superstar, and now Batista was going to rectify that on The Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania. The WWE Champion’s tirade left Cena in a condition he rarely finds himself: Speechless.

Jack Swagger def. Santino Marella in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Jack Swagger may be full of empty boasts – remember that whole "All-American American" Challenge fiasco? – but this time the former college wrestler made good. “The All-American American” redeemed himself against Santino Marella. Swagger defeated the All-Italian Italian to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania, where he will join Christian, Kane, Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler and three other Superstars.

Randy Orton def. Ted DiBiase by Disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The axis of evil is officially kaput. At WWE Elimination Chamber, when Ted DiBiase nailed Randy Orton in the head with a lead pipe, the Legacy ringleader appeared to forgive the “accident.” When the two teamed with Legacy henchman Cody Rhodes, however, The Viper struck, heading off a devious attack from his followers, leaving his followers motionless both in and out of the ring.

Now that all the cards are on the table, there’s no more “accidents” waiting to happen. As Orton battled DiBiase in singles action, Rhodes shot in to help his friend and partner. The save, however, disqualified DiBiase. While The Viper momentarily savored the victory, he found himself on his heels when his former pupils attacked him after the match. After suffering a series of boots to the torso, Orton managed to flip the script on Rhodes & DiBiase, who fled from the ring. They'll have a chance at redemption next week when they face off against The Viper in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match.

DX invoked Unified Tag Title rematch clause (PHOTOS)
Shawn Michaels appeared pretty steamed when “Mr. WrestleMania” addressed the WWE Universe regarding his rematch with The Undertaker. HBK told the crowd inside the Ford Center that his fellow Superstars think he lost the plot when he put his career on the line against The Deadman’s 17-0 WrestleMania streak. He even challenged anyone in the locker room who felt that way to face him, and one man did: Triple H.

Rather than belittle his DX partner, however, The Game encouraged Michaels epic undertaking, so to speak. He even felt the two should build momentum by invoking their rematch clause for the Unified Tag Team Championship. Michaels was on board, and so later tonight the duo will clash in a title match against champs Big Show & The Miz.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling’s Flagship Series Will Air Live Every Other Week From Universal Studios In Orlando, Fl.

“TNA iMPACT!,” Spike TV’s highly-rated two-hour weekly series, is moving from Thursday nights to Monday nights beginning Monday, March 8 (9:00-11:00pm ET/PT), it was announced by TNA President Dixie Carter and legendary pop culture icon Hulk Hogan at a press conference at the “TNA iMPACT! Zone” at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

On Monday, March 8, the huge main event of the epic broadcast will feature Hulk Hogan's return to the ring as he teams with Abyss to face TNA World Heavyweight Champion "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and the legendary "Nature Boy" Ric Flair!

“TNA iMPACT!”  will air live on March 8, with subsequent telecasts live every other week.  The series features many of the biggest names in wrestling including Hogan, Ric Flair, Mick Foley and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, as well as the hottest young talent in the industry: TNA World Heavyweight Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “The Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe and “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan.

The first ever Monday live “TNA iMPACT” broadcast on Spike TV, ran as a three-hour special head-to-head against WWE RAW on Monday, January 4, 2010, and drew a franchise-record 2.2 million viewers.  Two wrestling companies have not broadcast head-to-head weekly since the “Monday Night Wars” in the late 1990’s between WWE and WCW.

“On January 4 wrestling fans showed us they’re ready for a new professional wrestling alternative on Monday nights, and we’re answering that call. Bringing ‘iMPACT!’ to Mondays is our most exciting move yet in a year that’s already been filled with huge milestones for TNA” said Carter.

"Monday nights are now officially the best night of the week to be a fan of professional wrestling," Hogan said.  "My mantra has been 'change is coming' since partnering with Dixie Carter and TNA Wrestling. This change is great for the business and all fans of professional wrestling will benefit because of it."

"TNA iMPACT! has emerged as one of cable's top performers with young men, said  Spike TV President Kevin Kay. "With NFL Football off the television schedule and with "TNA iMPACT’s" expanding roster of top wrestling talent, we see this as an opportunity to tap into the millions of wrestling fans on Monday nights."

Since its founding in 2002, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling has become the world’s fastest growing professional wrestling company, currently airing in over 120 countries worldwide.
