But this week saw The Punjabi Playboy join the fray along with John Morrison as they took on the aggressive team of Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre, Tyson Kidd & Smith. Despite the second-generation Superstars impressive size and strength it wasnt enough to overcome Khali, who hit Smith with the Punjabi Plunge and pinned him for the win. Following the match, Morrison and Hardy joined The Punjabi Playboy in his customary Bhangra-infused celebration.
Evan Bourne def. Carlito (PHOTOS | WATCH) Two of Raws most impressive ring warriors squared off on WWE Superstars as Evan Bourne competed against Carlito. Alicia Fox & Katie Lea def. Kelly Kelly & Eve (PHOTOS | WATCH) The previous WWE Superstars saw Katie Lea join forces with Jillian in a losing tag team effort against The Bella Twins. There continues to be a lot of talk within WWE that the new NXT show will be reality based with an interactive aspect to it. It's possible that the show will only feature new talents and no veterans, as it was believed at first that some familiar stars would be on the show.
Ted sent word that Scott Steiner has been removed from the TNA roster page, which could mean he's been released from the company. It was reported a few weeks back that Steiner's future with TNA was up in the air. Ric Flair and Mr. Anderson have been added to the roster page.
Believe it or not, Eric Bischoff is trying to recruit Jim Ross to be an announcer in TNA. Just like the rumors from before, you shouldn't read into this as Ross going to TNA.
TNA's Lockdown 2010 pay-per-view will be held in St. Charles, Missouri, outside of St. Louis, at the Family Arena on April 18th. There will be a fan interaction event on the 17th. The deal was apparently a last minute thing as the original location they had booked had to be canceled because WWE booked the arena and insisted on a non-compete clause within a time frame that TNA had booked.
Rey Mysterio avoids a serious injury Posted by Chris Kaufman on 02/02/2010 at 03:10 PM
Rey Mysterio avoided a major injury at a Smackdown/ECW live event last week where he was teaming with Kane to face CM Punk & Luke Gallows.
Rey was standing on Kanes shoulders when Kane started walking before Rey was in place. Rey fell backwards towards the turnbuckle and landed with all of his weight on the left leg. The match was immediately stopped. Referee Jack Doan spoke with Rey, who confirmed he was hurt. Rey rolled out to the floor for a while before the match was re-started. Kane worked the next few minutes by himself and Rey did come back in but only for a few quick spots. Rey limped to the back but did work the TV tapings two nights later and has worked several shows since then.
Taz talks more in detail about ECW ending Posted by Mark Virginia on 02/03/2010 at 03:51 PM
ECW original and TNA announcer Taz has posted a message on his Facebook.com page regarding Vince McMahon's announcement that ECW is shutting down once and for all in 3 weeks.
Last night on Twitter, Taz wrote "thank god" WWE's version of ECW is done and sarcastically called McMahon not thanking Paul Heyman or the ECW originals a "classy" move. On Facebook, Taz explains exactly what bothered him about McMahon's announcement:
"Point is, why not acknowledge the Paul Heymens contributions to the industry? Or, saying thanks to all the ECW original wrestlers? A lot of blood, sweat and tears were dropped during the original ECW's life! If you are going to thank cameramen & directors (etc) than acknowledge the past history because its well deserved.
Even if Vince McMahon did not feel Paul Heyman and the ECW originals deserved to be acknowledged, Taz feels Vince once again left money on the table by not getting the most out of an asset he bought:
"If you utilized the letters ECW to make a lot of $$$ over the past several years I would assume that your respect the history of ECW? If you would produce and sell a successful DVD documenting the companies history...I would assume you feel that the original ECW history has value....than why not give it a proper send off?"
He concluded the message by saying he's happy the ECW letters are being retired, as they deserve to rest in peace.

Carter says WWE is trying to shut TNA down Posted by Mark Virginia on 02/01/2010 at 07:04 PM
TNA President Dixie Carter spoke to Fred Tropel of CanMag.com and explained that TNA Wrestling is going up against a corporate juggernaut that will stop at nothing to put them out of business.
Our competition may not have the same opinion that competition is good for an industry and take every opportunity to try to shut us down," she said. "I mean, it is the truest of David-and-Goliath situations, but we are scrappy. We will not take no for an answer, and we are going to have great success."
With everything that WWE has going for them, Carter believes her company has a better in ring product and knows what the fans want.
"I think that these days you dont have to be a bigger-than-life cartoon character. I mean, its much more about reality and what these guys can do in the ring. They are amazing athletes," Carter said. "I can have an all-pro football player, an NBA star on, and they say, 'We could never do something like this.' You have no off season. It's 52 weeks a year, and then we tour in between that. These guys are incredible athletes, and we do focus on the athleticism on our show much, much more."

But Christians celebration was cut short by none other than ECWs self-proclaimed Heart and Soul Superhero of ECW, Zack Ryder, and his girlfriend, Rosa Mendes. The Long Island Loudmouth told Christian he isnt the biggest newsmaker of the week, Gregory Helms is.
Gregory Helms attacked (PHOTOS | WATCH) While questioning Ezekiel Jackson about his loss to ECW Champion Christian at Royal Rumble, Gregory Helms was tormented by Big Zeke and his associate, William Regal. Instead of answering Helms questions, the ruthless duo attacked the interviewer, taunting him about his rough week. Luckily for Helms, Christian emerged in his defense.
ECW Champion Christian vs. Zack Ryder (No Contest) (PHOTOS | WATCH) After their explosive confrontation during The Abraham Washington Show earlier in the evening, ECW Champion Christian met Zack Ryder in the main event. While many in the WWE Universe hoped to see this rivalry settled in a singles non-title contest, the match ended without a clear winner. Christian came close to a victory after hitting Ryder with the Killswitch. But William Regal and Ezekiel Jackson the latter whom Captain Charisma defeated at Royal Rumble interrupted the match, attacking Christian. Outnumbered, the ECW Champion was savagely assaulted when Regal nailed him with a Running Knee Trembler and Jackson tossed him into the steel stairs. How will Christian retaliate against Big Zeke and Regals attack?
Vance Archer def. Shelton Benjamin (PHOTOS | WATCH) Rivals Vance Archer and Shelton Benjamin finally met again in singles action this week on ECW on Syfy. Whats next for Tatsu & Goldust, and Barreta & Croft? Will the Cardiac Kids winning streak against Barreta continue?
JBL wrote the following message on his Twitter yesterday after the RAW rating came in: "raw did 3.7 and they are happy? Shawn Michaels and i did 4.1s, ron and i did an 8.6. JBL #1 free agent in wrestling? I think so. I draw #s !"
TNA star Samoa Joe was interviewed by TNA's official website and talked about "dead weight "on the TNA roster. Joe also defended the infamous shoot promo he cut at Turning Point 2007, when he verbally blasted Scott Hall in the middle of the ring for no-showing the event. Joe told TNA interviewer Hermie Sadler:
"It was a statement that needed to be made. This is a company that can't have a lot of dead weight attached to it. You either come here to work or fight or get down or you don't come here at all. For the people that I was speaking about, I made it known I wasn't here to play games and just be a TV star. I'm here for this company to be the very best and for me to be the very best."
Joe's admits that his comments were harsh, but he stands by everything he said and said them because he cares about the company's survival.
"If anything that I said out there you didn't find to be true, then maybe you don't need to be here because everything I said out there I still stand by. I apologized for the tone to some people because they may have taken offense, but at the same time, in their heart of hearts, they knew everything I said out there was absolutely true."

NASHVILLE - In his role as Capt. James T. Kirk of the starship Enterprise, William Shatner presided over a crew that sometimes found themselves at each others throats. In his role as special guest host of Raw, the iconic actor also presided over a roster full of Superstars and at least one Chairman with enough personal vendettas to fill an entire galaxy.
Bret Hart confronted Mr. McMahon (PHOTOS | WATCH) Its been nearly a month since Mr. McMahons most recent betrayal of Bret Hart, when he lauded the WWE Hall of Famer just before kicking him in the gut. Tonight was payback time, or, at least it was supposed to be. While The Hit Man fired off a few choice words regarding The Chairmans character and scruples, Mr. McMahon shot back with a few scathing words of his own.
Bret snapped, though, when The Chairman revoked the WWE Hall of Fame induction of Harts father and legendary trainer, Stu. Thats when The Hit Man retaliated against his longtime rival. Before he could truly pummel Mr. McMahon, though, Batista charged the ring and attacked Bret. As The Animal held Hart, Mr. McMahon berated him and, in shades of 12 years ago, actually spat on the Hall of Famer.
Kofi Kingston def. Big Show in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) In a head-scratching turn of events, Big Show fumbled an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match to Kofi Kingston due to a disqualification. While the match appeared even on balance, the scales tipped when Kofi attacked The Worlds Largest Athlete. As a result, Kofi will join WWE Champion Sheamus, John Cena, Triple H, Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase in the Elimination Chamber Match in three weeks.
Guest host William Shatner arranged Unified Tag Team Triple Threat Match for next week (WATCH) William Shatner: Renaissance Man. The iconic thespian wears many hats in his life, and, in WWE, he slipped easily into his role as Raw Match Negotiator. When United States Champion The Miz & The Big Show whined about wanting to face DX for the Unified Tag Team Titles, they were not alone. CM Punk & Luke Gallows also craved an opportunity. Therefore, the brilliance that is Shatner arranged for the three teams to battle for the titles next Monday night in a Unified Tag Team Triple Threat Match.
Ted DiBiase def. Mark Henry in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) Hoping to follow The Legacys ringleader, Randy Orton, into the Elimination Chamber, Ted DiBiase scored a huge victory when he defeated Mark Henry in a qualifying match. After being subjected to The Vipers tirade the night before, DiBiase wasnt about to slip up. This time, the multi-generation Superstar overcame The Worlds Strongest Man to become the fourth entrant to qualify for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match.
Randy Orton def. Shawn Michaels in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) With one clear path to The Undertaker denied, Shawn Michaels hoped to take the road less traveled by first prevailing in the evenings third Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match. Unfortunately for him, Randy Orton was acting as toll collector. Combating an obsessive yearning for a WrestleMania rematch with the World Heavyweight Champion, HBK came up short against The Viper, who was undoubtedly still steaming over his loss to WWE Champion Sheamus the night before.
Triple H def. Jack Swagger in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) A word to the engineers of this years Elimination Chamber: You may want to tighten the bolts. John Cena def. Cody Rhodes in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match (PHOTOS | WATCH) John Cena was thisclose to winning the Royal Rumble and earning a spot in the main event at WrestleMania. Alas, it wasnt meant to be. As everyone knows, though, Cena never gives up. Despite a disappointing finish the night before, Cena faced off against Cody Rhodes in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match. The winner would join four others as well as WWE Champion Sheamus in the most unforgiving structure in WWE history. Granting Cena some consolation, he managed to defeat the Legacy henchman and qualify for Raws main event bout at WWE Elimination Chamber.
Edge opened Raw; WWE Champion Sheamus confronts him (PHOTOS | WATCH) Out of commission for six months due to a torn Achilles tendon, Edges ego simply couldnt wait for the soothing glow of the spotlight. Having outlasted 29 of his fellow Superstars to win the Royal Rumble Match the night before, the SmackDown Superstar commandeered Raw to brag about his return, to boast about being in the main event at WrestleMania and, seemingly, to rail against current WWE Champion Sheamus.
The Irishman would have none of it, though. The fiery champion informed Edge that, while he was busy nursing wounds, the landscape of WWE had changed, that The Celtic Warrior was now in command. As if to prove the point, the Irishman attacked, but The R-Rated Superstar quickly returned fire, nailing Sheamus with a spear before beating a retreat.
Former MNM tag-team member and former Champion Joey Mercury is set to return to World Wrestling Entertainment, according to PWInsider.com.

WWE had trademarked "NXT" to use for the new Tuesday night show on the SyFy network. Sources have confirmed that ECW will now be called WWE NXT, with the NXT standing for Next Generation.
