Jeff Hardy forming a tag-team in TNA?
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/28/2010 at 11:50 AM

It would appear that Jeff Hardy is indeed set to make more appearances for TNA. Hardy may have revealed a tag team with Shannon Moore that's planned with the following message on Twitter, that has since been deleted:

"HeavensDemons...airhedge&itchweeed ready to hitTNA with some shockfactor..you dig thy name...HeavensDemons?"

    Rey overweegt te stoppen

During an interview with the Mexican newspaper Esto, Rey Mysterio said that he was two to three years away from retirement. However, he made sure to note that his future in the industry hinges on the reconstructive knee surgery he is getting in April — providing he lasts that long.

When asked who will be his replacement as the top Mexican star in WWE when he leaves, he mentioned Dos Caras, Jr. (Alberto Banderas ring name), Super Nova (the son of El Texano) and Incognito; all of whom are in WWE's developmental system. However, he said he doesn't see any of them as his replacement "because WWE doesn't work that way."

Mysterio also said that his match at the Royal Rumble would be a three-way bout with Undertaker and Batista — which has since been changed.

MAAKT TNA DE DEFINITIEVE OVERSTAP NAAR MAANdag

TNA expected to be going full-time on Mondays soon
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/27/2010 at 04:49 PM

    Credit: F4WOnline.com

According to Dave Meltzer, the decision has been made behind the scenes to have TNA Impact air on Monday nights full-time. It's unknown when an official announcement will be made.

The change is expected to be made in early March but it's still unknown if the show will air from 9-11 or 8-10 to give TNA an unopposed first hour.

The plan at this point is to tape shows every other week with Monday being live and a Tuesday taping airing the following Monday.

The general feeling is that the Thursday ratings don't matter and there is more potential for growth of product interest on Monday nights.

Samoa Joe dislocated a rib during Monday's live event in Paris, France. He worked against AJ Styles and Daniels in a three-way bout.

"Dislocated a rib last night. Most fun was explaining the screaming from my room as D-Lo (Brown) popped it back in," Joe wrote on his Twitter account yesterday morning.

He managed to work his scheduled "I Quit" match against Daniels last night in Bournemouth, England.

"Pope is so sick Dr's would not let him wrestle in Glasgow. He has to stay behind until better," TNA president Dixie Carter wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

Hogan comments on Warrior/Savage joining TNA

Hogan comments on Warrior/Savage joining TNA
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/27/2010 at 02:28 PM

During a recent interview with UGO.com, Hulk Hogan commented on the possibility of Ultimate Warrior and Randy "Macho Man" Savage joining TNA Wrestling.

"The Warrior is not 'alive' anymore," Hogan told UGO.com. "I did a deposition about six months ago where Vince McMahon put out a tape called The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior. And I did a deposition. I sat in a room across from him. No other wrestler would testify. He thought I was actually going to help him, but when I told the truth...I seriously doubt he and I would ever work together again. I did tell the truth at the deposition. He's the worst. He's horrible. There's nobody worse than him in the ring. So hopefully I'll never have to see him again in the ring."

As far as Savage is concerned, despite their past differences, Hogan would love to have him on board with TNA. He feels if Savage dyed his gray beard and got back into shape, he would be good enough to return to the ring.

"I'd LOVE to see the Macho Man," Hogan said. "Dye that old gray Santa Claus beard he's got. Get back in shape. And teach these young guys how to do it because I could sure use his help. He's got a great mind for the business."

Hogan also comments on the removal of the six-sided ring (calling it "a playpen"), when exactly he should have quit wrestling, back shaving tips, and more. You can read the interview in its entirety at http://www.ugo.com/tv/hulk-hogan-interview

    KEERT DDP TERUG NAAR TNA?????????

DDP talks about a possible return to TNA
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/27/2010 at 02:26 PM

During an interview with SLAM! Wrestling, Diamond Dallas Page said he's talked to Eric Bischoff about possibly joining TNA down the line for a short-term program and perhaps even wrestling. The former WCW World Heavyweight says he has about ten more matches left in the tank.

"Eventually I am sure at some point in time when they need a guest referee I may consider it. I want to do the Piper thing, he shows up for two months and then is gone for nine. That is the only kind of thing I want to do, and I am in the shape to still do it," Page said. "I probably have ten really good matches left in me, and I am not gonna throw them away or just put them out there. If they are willing to pay me to come back, and it behooves me, maybe."

Page briefly worked for the promotion five years ago, highlighted by a main event encounter against Jeff Jarrett at the March 2005 pay-per-view, Destination X. He said he's in good physical shape and noted that he dropped some weight from his wrestling days thanks to his Yoga For Regular Guys program.

"I am in better shape now than I was when I was in the ring. I am not as big, I have lost about 25 pounds because I don't need to carry that weight," Page said. "I am at 230 right now, but I am solid and lean and strong as f***. I can bend over and put my head between my legs, stick my foot over my head and stand one leg. Most guys can't walk around on two legs!"

Ken Anderson comments on his TNA signing

Ken Anderson comments on his TNA signing

Thanks to the Wrestling Globe Newsletter for the following recap:

Ken Anderson was interviewed last night on ESPN Milwaukee. Regarding going to TNA, he said: "I had wanted to hopefully sign with TNA immediately after my WWE career ended, but I had to make sure that I wasn't stepping into the wrong situation... I just got out of a relationship [with WWE] that wasn't necessarily good for probably both sides for quite some time and I wanted to make sure I didn't make the same mistakes again and setting myself up for failure."

He has signed a contract with them but it's a per night deal. He said Hogan and Bischoff approached him to come on board during the Hulkamania tour of Australia.

"We went back and forth for a while and it was kind of a fun negotiation process. It was actually kind of nice," he said. "When I first started with WWE, there was no negotiating at all. It was, 'Take it or leave it, pal.' It was kind of nice to be able to say, 'This is stuff I'm willing to negotiate on.' They came through and I couldn't have been happier with the debut and I was happy to work with Abyss."

He added: "I like the fact that I was able to go in and tape a whole month's worth of TV in four days. I'm not kidding you. Then you have the rest of the month to rest your body. That's one thing about being on the road 52 weeks per year, and maybe one of the reasons I was injury-prone because I was working five days per week."

    minder ppv's buiten orlando?

Fewer PPVs expected to take place outside Orlando
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/26/2010 at 03:19 PM

    Credit: F4Wonline.com

Word is that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff only want to hold the TNA Slammiversary and Bound For Glory PPVs outside of the Impact Zone in Orlando.

The idea is that holding all other events in Orlando will not only save money but will make the company look less minor league when they fail to sellout other arenas.

TNA OP 1 MAART WEER LIVE TEGEN RAW
    ItsOnBrother.jpg image by ForPhotoStuff
After TNA Monday night special on January 4th drew a strong 1.5 cable rating, it appears Spike TV has scheduled another live TNA broadcast to go head-to-head with WWE RAW.

According to news correspondent Devin Cutting, Spike TV has scheduled a second Monday night TNA Impact episode on March 1 from 9-11p.m. EST head-to-head with WWE Raw.

Comedy duo Cheech & Chong are scheduled to host WWE RAW that night.

TNA originally had an Australian tour scheduled from late Feburary to early March and then rescheduled it due to "changes in the U.S. TV production schedule."

A report on PWInsider.com states that the TNA iMPACT! taping schedule at Universal Studios in Orlando now lists live events on Monday 3/1 and Tuesday 3/1, so it appears the show will be live once again.

Ezekiel Jackson & William Regal def. ECW Champion Christian & Kane
Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust & The Hurricane def. Trent Barreta, Caylen Croft & Zack Ryder

CINCINNATI – Just five days before Royal Rumble, No. 1 contender Ezekiel Jackson continued his path of total domination with a tag team victory over ECW Champion Christian.

Ezekiel Jackson & William Regal def. ECW Champion Christian & Kane (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After William Regal introduced the WWE Universe to the Superstar he called the next ECW Champion – Ezekiel Jackson – the No. 1 contender warned Christian that he’s certain he’ll win the ECW Title at Sunday’s Royal Rumble. Christian said he’s defended his ECW Championship against many different contenders, from "All-American Americans" to ECW Originals, allowing him to adapt to facing anyone and everyone, and he looks forward to the challenge that awaits him at Royal Rumble. (PHOTOS | WATCH)

But Tuesday night even when Christian teamed with former ECW Champion Kane, Captain Charisma once again fell short to The Guyanese Goliath. With the help of Regal, Big Zeke squashed his Royal Rumble opponent, just as he has for the past several weeks. Is this a sign of things to come this Sunday? Will Jackson continue his streak of domination and become the new ECW Champion? Or will Christian characteristically prevail over what could be his biggest and strongest ECW Title Match opponent to date? Tune in to Royal Rumble Sunday night at 8/7 CT live and only on pay-per-view.

Vance Archer interrupts Shelton Benjamin (WATCH)
While telling the WWE Universe how excited he is to have the opportunity to compete in Sunday’s Royal Rumble, Shelton Benjamin was unexpectedly interrupted with an attack by Vance Archer. His rival knocked The Gold Standard to the ground, stating, “Hopes and dreams are all Shelton has, because that … that’s reality.” Will Archer’s attack hinder Benjamin’s chances this Sunday?

Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust & The Hurricane def. Trent Barreta, Caylen Croft & Zack Ryder (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The eclectic threesome of Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust & The Hurricane earned a victory over ECW newcomers Trent Baretta & Caylen Croft, and their Tuesday night tag team partner, Zack Ryder. Tatsu’s electric, high-kick to Barreta’s head sealed his team’s fate. The win brings a bit of sweet retribution for Tatsu & Goldust, who lost to their rivals, Barreta & Croft, last week. Also, The Hurricane once again quieted the Long Island Loudmouth, Ryder, who called himself “The Heart and Soul Superhero of ECW” – a nickname the masked Superstar wasn’t too keen on. However, Ryder’s girlfriend, Rosa Mendes, did plenty of shouting at her beau’s opponents during the match.

Report: Santino Marella to star in sitcom
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 01/26/2010 at 02:03 PM

AOL Television's section is saying that WWE is currently working on a sitcom starring Santino Marella. WWE Diva Beth Phoenix is slated to play his girlfriend, and Vladimir Kozlov his best friend. "In two weeks, we're filming the first three episodes," Santino said. "It will air at first on the dot com, then after that we will get it to a network television."

USA Network VP Chris McCumber however said the USA Network isn't looking for sitcoms right now, but acknowledge Marella as a good comedic character.

RVD says WWE thought he signed with TNA

RVD says WWE thought he signed with TNA
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 01/26/2010 at 12:49 PM

Rob Van Dam says WWE was concerned he was going to sign with TNA last week that they blocked his account on WWE’s blog page. RVD regularly posts updates for his “RVD TV” webshow on WWE’s Universe page.

“The constant rumors that I am or have signed with one of the wrestling companies seems to be getting stronger still,” RVD said on robvandam.com. “Last week, WWE locked me out of my profile page at WWE Universe because they believed I had signed with TNA!”

RVD did not detail his current standing with WWE or TNA any further. He said in an interview last week that he he would return to WWE “if the conditions were right,” but he has no interest in working their schedule again. RVD did plug that he will be wrestling his “first domestic match in years” this weekend in Los Angeles at the WrestleReunion convention. RVD is booked for PWG’s Saturday night show in a three-way match against Chris Hero and Roderick Strong.

Also in his blog, RVD criticized the DVD cover art for the “Wrong Side of Town” movie where he’s in the lead role. The DVD features Batista on the cover instead of him.

“Uh… well, he WAS on set for 2 days. I’m not bitching that I got screwed here, but if I ever was in a position to bitch that I got screwed over, it’d have to feel a lot like this,” RVD said.

    Styles Slams WWE's 'Backstabbing

In an interview with The Sun, TNA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles blasts the backstabbing nature of rival promotion World Wrestling Entertainment.

The TNA star said he has no interest in going to WWE based on second-hand stories he's heard from wrestlers' experiences in the politically-motivated backstage environment.

"From all the horror stories I've heard in WWE, there's no reason why I would want to go anywhere else. Desmond (Wolfe) and I are going to work together to make this company the best for everybody. Where, in the other company, they will stab each other in the back to get to the next level," Styles said. "It's not about me. It's about us in TNA."

Styles said one year from now, TNA needs to be live and touring "week-to-week" outside the Impact Zone in Orlando. His main reason for wanting to venture outside of Orlando is so he can better gauge the effectiveness of his persona.

"Definitely live. Live every Monday night or Thursday night. I don't care. Just as long as the fans know when it's coming on. And that they don't know what to expect," Styles told The Sun. "That's the biggest thing because with the spoilers, they go on (the Internet) and figure out whatever, but I want to be live going from state-to-state and not just in the Impact Zone."

Styles added: "It's hard to gauge who you are as a character in the Impact Zone because you have the same fans coming in who don't necessarily want to enjoy the show, but be part of the show, and it's hard to gauge how you're doing as an entertainer."

Styles also reassured fans upset about TNA parting ways with its trademark six-sided ring.

"Ring change is kind of upsetting at first, but then once you get in that ring, it brings the memories back - 'Oh, there's so much more you can do.' But, for us, it absolutely does not make a difference to me. That's why it was so bizarre to me at first why they would change it," Styles said. "I heard that maybe the reason was to be taken more seriously as a company. I can understand that. I don't care what it is that gets us to the next level as long as we get there."

Styles and Desmond Wolfe also discuss Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff joining TNA, as well as what fans can expect on the company's current tour of the UK. To download the 21-minute interview, head on over to http://www.thesun.co.uk/
