Breaking news: Steve Austin hosting RAW on 3/15

Breaking news: Steve Austin hosting RAW on 3/15

    The following is from WWE.com:

March 15, 2010: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
Less than two weeks before WrestleMania XXVI, WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin hosts Raw on March 15. The WWE Universe should certainly mark their calendars for the legendary Rattlesnake's return, as it is sure to turn WWE’s flagship show upside down. Though it’s uncertain what will happen when Stone Cold takes his place at the head of Raw for one night only, there's no doubt that he'll be looked at as one of Raw’s most controversial special guest hosts.

Be sure to tune in every Monday night when the biggest stars from all over the world take over as Raw’s special guest host.

Randy Orton def. John Cena and Kofi Kingston in a Triple Threat Match
    Eve def. Katie Lea Burchill
Unified Tag Team Champions DX def. Chris Jericho & Mike Tyson

MINNEAPOLIS - As professional boxing’s former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World, Mike Tyson enjoyed a reputation for delivering the knockout punch in no time flat. As special guest host of Raw, however, the “Baddest Man on the Planet” held off until the final round to deliver a shocking KO to the WWE Universe – and especially Chris Jericho.

Unified Tag Team Champions DX def. Chris Jericho & Mike Tyson (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In his first-ever WWE match, boxing great Mike Tyson played a little rope-a-dope with his partner Chris Jericho. Earlier in the evening, Tyson had agreed to team with Jericho against Unified Tag Team Champions DX. If Jericho had won, he would be legally allowed to appear on all WWE brand shows.

Unfortunately for Jericho, this isn’t WrestleMania XIV. It was then that Tyson turned his back on Michaels and helped “Stone Cold” Steve Austin win, even ripping up his DX T-shirt after the match. This time, Tyson instead embraced Michaels & Triple H, turning his back on his arrogant partner and knocking him out. With Jericho dazed, Tyson’s transformation became complete when he joined DX, including Hornswoggle, for a celebration in the middle of the ring.

Shawn Michaels issued WrestleMania rematch challenge to Undertaker
He may have won the Match of the Year Award going away for his bout with The Undertaker at last year’s WrestleMania, but that isn’t good enough for Shawn Michaels. While he won accolades and awards, he failed to win the match and stop the Deadman’s 17-0 WrestleMania winning streak. Which is why The Showstopper officially challenged The Phenom to a rematch at WrestleMania XXVI in Phoenix.

Mr. McMahon addressed Bret Hart (PHOTOS | WATCH)
It seemed too good to be true at the time. After 12 years of hostilities, Mr. McMahon and Bret Hart had appeared to reconcile last week before The Chairman turned on the “Hit Man” and dropped him with a Judas kick. Addressing his actions tonight, Mr. McMahon said that he’d been waiting 12 years to exact revenge for Hart spitting on and punching him in 1997  - and that Hart will never again be in WWE.

Eve def. Katie Lee Burchill (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Check your brackets – we’re down to the final four. In the Divas Championship Tournament, Eve advanced to the second round with a win over new Raw recruit Katie Lee Burchill, who, along with her brother Paul, had been banished from ECW. Eve next faces off against Maryse while Gail Kim battles Alicia Fox.

MVP confronted United States Champion The Miz (PHOTOS | WATCH)
When MVP triumphed in a Fatal Four Way Match and earned an opportunity at the United States Championship, The Miz sat ringside extolling his superiority. When he came face to face with that same Superstar, though, Miz instead tried to level him with a cheap shot. The Franchise Playa wasn’t fazed and flipped the script on the U.S. Champ, attacking and sending the former reality TV star scurrying from the ring.

Randy Orton def. John Cena and Kofi Kingston in a Triple Threat Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Enemy of my enemy is my friend. By that logic, John Cena and Kofi Kingston should be the best of buds. After all, each has had major issues with the arrogant Randy Orton. When the three met in a Triple Threat Match to determine the No. 1 contender to the WWE Title against Sheamus at Royal Rumble, however, it was Orton who emerged victorious. Not that he did it alone.

The Viper prevailed with a distraction, compliments of his Legacy henchmen, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase. While the alliance had been teetering, the trio seems to have solidified their partnership in the past two weeks. (WWE Championship preview)

Santino Marella def. Jack Swagger (PHOTOS | WATCH)
What’s a-matter you, Jack Swagger? The former star collegiate wrestler issued an “All-American American” challenge to the entire Raw roster, daring anyone to throw him over the top rope. Braving the bruiser, Santino Marella took up the gauntlet and, in an odd twist of circumstances, pulled off the feat when Swagger tried to heave The Italian Stallion over the top rope and tumbled himself.

Mike Tyson to team with Chris Jericho against Unified Tag Team Champions DX
It's been a long time since Mike Tyson has fought inside a ring, but all that changed on Raw! The boxing legend agreed to team with Chris Jericho against DX in his first-ever WWE match. Adding to the intrigue, Tyson and DX’s Shawn Michaels have a sordid history, including when the boxer acted as referee and betrayed HBK at WrestleMania XIV, delivering a quick count to allow “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to win.

The Legacy def. Mark Henry & Evan Bourne (PHOTOS | WATCH)
They seemed the perfect competitive complement: Mark Henry’s powerful yin to Evan Bourne’s high-flying yang. Yet even this potent pairing couldn’t overcome The Legacy’s Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase. With all four Superstars among the 30 participants in this year’s Royal Rumble, each seemed eager to prove themselves and gain momentum in the run up to the Rumble. Rhodes & DiBiase, though, along with Legacy ringleader Randy Orton, appear to have found their groove recently, making it exceedingly difficult to throw them off track.

Alicia Fox def. Kelly Kelly (PHOTOS | WATCH)
With Melina forced to vacate the Divas Championship due to a serious leg injury, the first round of the Divas Championship Tournament continued. This week, two leggy lovelies, Alicia Fox and Kelly Kelly, competed to advance in the eight-Diva tourney. When the pixie dust cleared, it was Alicia whose aggression proved too much for Kelly Kelly as she notched the win. Alicia now joins Maryse and Gail Kim in the second round.

Tyson arranged Triple Threat Match to determine WWE Title No. 1 contender (PHOTOS | WATCH)
It takes a brave soul – or a foolish one – to interrupt Mike Tyson. As Raw’s special guest host, Tyson greeted the WWE Universe when WWE Champion Sheamus cut him off and questioned his toughness. Before the two could settle their differences, however, a trio of Superstars injected themselves into the conversation in an effort to prove that they should get an opportunity at the WWE Title.

After Randy Orton, John Cena and Kofi Kingston pleaded their respective cases, The Celtic Warrior argued that he should be excused from having to defend his title at the Royal Rumble. Tyson wasn’t having it. Instead, the boxing legend arranged a Triple Threat Match between the three with the winner earning No. 1 contender status.

    UPDATE SITUATIE BOOKER T

The latest on Booker T's talks with WWE

    Credit: prowrestling.net

Booker T was close to returning to WWE, but negotiations fell through after the former World Heavyweight Champion asked for a deal that included a very limited number of house show dates. A well-placed source notes that he asked for "an HBK-style deal," which led to negotiations between both sides falling apart.

Update on Stacy Keibler hosting RAW

Update on Stacy Keibler hosting RAW
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/09/2010 at 11:36 PM

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler confirms that she would "absolutely love" to serve as a guest host on WWE RAW.

After reiterating the story that WWE ignored her request to host the recent show in her hometown of Baltimore, Keibler said WWE recently told her publicist the company would "love to have her" but that the proposed dates did not sync with her schedule.

"So maybe in the future if the timing is right, but right now there no plans to do it. But it would be so much fun to walk out and feel that energy again and be around my fans," says Keibler.

Batista vs. Rey Mysterio (No Contest)

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  – The stakes were high in the night’s No. 1 Contender’s Match between Rey Mysterio and Batista. The winner would earn the opportunity to face World Heavyweight Champion Undertaker at Royal Rumble. But before a winner could be determined, an ominous darkness descended upon the arena, leaving both Superstars laying stunned in the ring.

Batista and Rey Mysterio predicted victory (PHOTOS | WATCH)
At the start of the night, both Batista and Rey Mysterio vehemently proclaimed they would defeat the other and become the No. 1 Contender. With emotions running high, they went as far as saying the other would not walk away from the match. Their words proved true, but things didn’t turn out quite as they predicted.

Batista vs. Rey Mysterio ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After a back-and-forth war, it appeared as though The Animal was going to finish off The Master of the 619 with a Batista Bomb. But before he could execute the maneuver, the arena lights dimmed and the eerie sound of The Undertaker’s gong reverberated throughout the arena. When the lights came back on, Batista lay writhing in pain.

Seizing the moment, Mysterio took it to Batista, dropping him with the 619. But, before he could fully capitalize, the arena lights dimmed once again, coupled with the tolling of The Deadman’s gong. When the lights came back on this time, both Superstars lay wasted in the ring.

Although The Phenom was never seen, his presence was felt throughout the WWE Universe, as bursts of fire shot from the top of the entrance ramp.

The ominous outcome leaves the lingering question. Who will claim the No. 1 Contender spot?

Dolph Ziggler def. Kane (Count-out) (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Dolph Ziggler had his work cut out for him against The Big Red Monster Kane. After locking in a very effective sleeper hold outside of the ring, Ziggler was able to weaken Kane. As the ref belted out his 10-count, Ziggler waited for just the right moment to release the hold, jump in the ring and claim the win.

Chris Jericho & The Hart Dynasty def. R-Truth & Cryme Tyme (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Kicked off Raw and no longer a tag team champion, Chris Jericho has been looking for respect on Friday nights. He gained a solid measure of it by leading his team to victory by making JTG submit with a brutally painful session in the Walls of Jericho.

CM Punk initiated a fan into the “straightedge society” (PHOTOS | WATCH)
With Luke Gallows at his side, CM Punk followed up on his promise to “save” a member of the WWE Universe. A fan identified only as James was the chosen one. Assuaging James of his fears, the "Straightedge Savior" shaved his head, initiating him into the straightedge society.

Luke Gallows def. Matt Hardy (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After a distraction by his mentor CM Punk, the “Detoxified Disciple” Luke Gallows defeated Matt Hardy with a ruthless Gallows Pole.

Beth Phoenix def. Layla (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Showing no mercy, The Glamazon crushed Layla with a brutal Glam Slam. After the match, Women’s Champion Michelle McCool jumped in the ring to attack Beth. With Layla holding Phoenix’s legs, the champion launched an ugly assault.

Then chaos ensued when Mickie James stormed into the arena to attack McCool. After recovering, Phoenix cleared house, sending both McCool and Layla flying from the ring. But it was Mickie who got in the final blow, when she stunned Beth with a hard-hitting kick to the face – sweet revenge for being attacked by The Glamazon last week.

RVD comments on the RAW vs. Impact battle
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 01/07/2010 at 11:28 AM

Rob Van Dam has a new blog up on his MySpace, talking about the Monday Night War from this week between WWE and TNA. Here's what he wrote:

Monday night wrestling, let’s talk about it. Many people have called, texted or emailed me to get my opinion of the live wrestling shows that competed for our viewership earlier this week. I can critique just like you, but let’s talk about what we liked. I switched back and forth between both shows, just like you did. It was cool seeing the crowd reaction for Brett the Hitman Hart. I know he has wanted to step back in the ring for a long time and I have no doubt that the “welcome back” felt like a warm blanket in Canada. On the other show, the NWO appearing was a nice surprise, as was Jeff hardy in a big way. I was a little concerned since all the pre-Monday advertisements just said “We got Hogan”. They had a lot of ex-WWE’ers-whether money drawers or not-so the element of change and hope was in the air. I thought that was nice. They also had some good matches. fans like that. I’m still confused on the schedule for TNA’s Monday night shows.

I thought this was going to be an every-Monday night thing but I’ve heard I’m wrong on that. Anyone else confused with me? Anyone know what they’re doing?

Do we tune in again next week or next quarter or WTF?

I’m sure that wrestling had it’s highest ratings in awhile so that’s good and TNA must’ve had their largest viewing audience. Many people have told me that they were glad I wasn’t on Monday night. I don’t think that I feel more inspired to return than I did before Monday, for that matter. I do hope that public interest in wrestling does grow as it would be good for everybody...except that guy that tried to blow up that airplane in Detroit. He’s f***ed!

I probably feel the same way that you do about Monday night. It intrigued me to watch, which I normally don’t, and I believe I’ll watch again next week...if it’s on.

DETAILS OVER ENTRANCE MUZIEK HULK HOGAN

Details on the song Hogan used at Impact
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/09/2010 at 05:46 PM

Hulk Hogan’s TNA entrance theme is actually not a new song as it can be heard on the WCW Nitro and WCW/nWo Thunder video games released on Playstation in the late nineties. At the time, a sound-alike was created because THQ didn’t own the rights to the actual New World Order song.

Monday Impact replay does a good rating
Posted by Mark Virginia on 01/08/2010 at 09:05 PM

The TNA Impact final cable rating for last night, January 7th, came in at an 0.9.

That has to be considered a good number figuring in the fact that the show was a replay of their most viewed show in history this past Monday night

    DJ GABRIEL ONTSLAGEN

World Wrestling Entertainment released former ECW performer Steve Lewington (a.k.a. DJ Gabriel) yesterday.

Lewington was split from Alicia Fox last April as a result of the 2009 Supplemental Draft, leaving the English grappler to fend for himself. Creative apparently had nothing for him considering he was soon shipped off to developmental. He never returned to the main roster.

Lewington had been under contract to WWE since April 2006.

There may have a few other releases in developmental yesterday, but they have yet to be confirmed.

    Finlay def. Mike Knox

The first “WWE Superstars” of 2010 rang in the new year in the best way possible: With four hard-hitting matches! Boasting a match from the Divas Championship Tournament and a knock-down drag-out fight between two of SmackDown’s toughest bruisers, even after the first episode this year promises to be another explosive one for “WWE Superstars.”

Don’t know where to catch “WWE Superstars”? Find WGN America in your area. Can't see “WWE Superstars” on WGN America in your area? Stay with WWE.com for full results, photos and video clips of all the action.

Finlay def. Mike Knox (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The WWE Universe knows to expect exciting matches whenever two Superstars step into the ring, but when two hardened ring warriors like Finlay and Mike Knox collide, our fans know to look for fireworks. Though the hulking Knox possessed the definitive size advantage, The Belfast Brawler would not be slowed down as he took the fight to his opponent in his trademark smashmouth style. Ultimately, Finlay felled his massive opponent, proving once again that he is one of the toughest Superstars on SmackDown or any other show’s roster.

Yoshi Tatsu def. Caylen Croft (PHOTOS | WATCH)
On ECW Yoshi Tatsu has proven himself to be one of the brand’s most promising young stars, catching the attention of ECW Champion Christian and the WWE Universe alike. But recently The Land of the Extreme has been host to an equally impressive tag team in the form of Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta. In his first singles outing, Croft went head-to-head with Tatsu on “WWE Superstars.” To the dismay of Croft’s partner Baretta and the delight of Tatsu’s associate Goldust, the Japanese sensation pinned his opponent for the win.

Ted DiBiase def. Chris Masters (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Since the inception of Legacy, Randy Orton’s protégés, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes have terrorized the Raw roster, going to any lengths to achieve victory over their opponents. But on “WWE Superstars,” DiBiase went one-on-one with his opponent, the impressive Chris Masters who was accompanied to the ring by the lovely Eve. Though The Masterpiece’s physique might be flawless, his “Priceless” rival found a chink in the armor, enabling DiBiase to walk away the victor.

Gail Kim def. Jillian (PHOTOS | WATCH)
With the injury of reigning Divas Champion Melina, the title was vacated, leaving many of WWE’s most talented Divas clamoring for the coveted prize. On “WWE Superstars,” two of those competitors, Gail Kim and Jillian squared off. Though both Divas competed fiercely, it was Gail who was victorious, moving one step closer to her first ever Divas Title.

BIG SHOW OOK GEEN FAN VAN DE JONGERE GENERATIE

In an interview with the UK Sun, WWE's Big Show says that with all the talk of young talent being elevated in WWE, it's not going ot be handed to them.

"I want to let you know flat out there's not anybody good enough to take my position," Show said. "And I'm certainly not going to give my position up just because I've been on top for a while, and nor would anyone else.

If there's another giant that can walk in and take my position, then good for him. He can run with it and I'll retire. Until then I'm going to work on top as long as I can, make as much money as I can and entertain the fans as much as I can. It's up to the younger generation to come to the locker room, step up and be leaders."

TOEKOMST SCOTT STEINER EN KIP JAMES ONZEKER

Scott Steiner and Kip James were backstage
at Tuesday's iMPACT tapings. While Steiner was expected to wrestle, he did not.
