Previously on Impact Wrestling, Aces & Eights took out the babyface roster. And, with no one left, Sting and Hulk Hogan ran through the group at the end of last weeks show.
Arena: Todd Keneley introduced the show and promoted Stings return last week. Hulk Hogans music then played to begin the show. As Hogan slowly walked out to the ring, Mike Tenay gushed about Sting and Hogan running off A&E while Taz sold throwing up as Tenay described the events.
In the ring, Hogan said he gets it that things almost came to blows last week between himself and Sting. So, he needs to find out whats up with the Stinger. Out came Sting, who listened to Hogan request that they sort out their issues. Hogan said they almost came to blows last week and he knows when hes right and wrong, so he was wrong about taking out his issues on Sting. Hogan apologized and said he made a huge mistake by pushing Sting away.
Hogan extended his hand, which Sting shook. Before Sting talked, Hogan said one of the biggest mistakes he made was not pulling together to take care of Aces & Eights. Sting responded that theyre together right now. He then asked Hogan to book him in a six-man tag match with two partners against Aces & Eights next week. Sting figured that would eliminate Aces & Eights somehow. Hogan agreed, then said he needs to determine a #1 contender.
Matt Morgans music interrupted to bring out Morgan checking his crystal ball. He said this is the part where Hogan just hands this jerk-off another TNA Title shot. Morgan said that really worked out last time with Bully Ray. Hogan sarcastically replied that as he looks into his crystal ball, he does not see any more hand-outs around here. So, before Morgan showed up, he was going to announce that the man who will face Bully Ray at Slammiversary will be the winner of the main event tonight Morgan vs. Sting. Hogan let that sit on Morgan, then left the ring, leaving Morgan and Sting alone in the ring. Sting stared down Morgan, then left the ring.
Video Package: Chris Sabin talked about blowing out his knees and going through rehab over the last several months. They included the soundbyte from Sabin about wanting to be TNA World Hvt. champion. But, first, Sabin returns to action in an X Division match next.
[Commercial Break]
[Q2] Locker Room: Kurt Angle was shown talking to someone off-camera about Aces & Eights trying to take over. Angle told whoever he was talking to that he issued a challenge to Aces & Eights and he will take care of the group tonight. So, who was Angle talking to?
1 CHRIS SABIN vs. ZEMA ION vs. SONJAY DUTT three-way X Division Title qualifying match
Dutt was already in the ring, Ion was on his way to the ring, and Sabin got a full ring entrance. Sabin, now with longer hair, soaked in the moment being back in the ring as the referee wearing a cabby/golfer hat called for the bell. Ion quickly targeted Sabin, trying to take advantage of his ring rust.
Keneley announced that Suicide won last weeks poll with 69 percent of the vote to be next in title contention. TNA suddenly cut to the eye-killing, grainy, dizzying referee cam. A warning should accompany the directors decision to switch camera shots. Moments later, Sabin nailed an inside cradle Michinoku Driver for the pin and the win. Sabin then posed for the hard camera to indicate that hes back. Keneley said Sabin and Petey Williams are now next in line for a title shot.
WINNER: Sabin at 4:01.
Backstage: Robbie E. and Jessie were shown talking backstage. Jessie introduced a photo of Joey Ryan as their other partner to face Rob Terry tonight.
[Commercial Break]
Backstage: Bully Ray was trying to talk to Aces & Eights, but they werent paying attention. My brothers, do we have a problem?! Ray asked before asking if they saw Hogan and Sting mocking them. Nobody mocks us! Ray declared. He said now he has to worry about Morgan vs. Sting tonight, but hes really not worried about either one. Which brings him to the real problem Kurt Angle. Ray said no matter how many times they knock him down, Angle keeps getting back up. Ray said he wants Angle to be taken out, then told one of them to take care of Angle. Ray asked Devon who it should be, then Wes Brisco piped up that he will do it. Garett Bischoff, now with a beard, said he will do it.
D-Lo Brown then stepped up and decided he would do it. Brown said he will take honor in destroying Angle. As Brown went on, the camera focused on Bully Ray, who seemed unimpressed or reflective, hard to tell. Ray then asked Brown to swear on his colors that he will do it tonight. Brown swore, but the rest of the group didnt seem so sure. Back in the arena, Taz didnt seem convinced, either, on commentary.
In-ring: Robbie Es music played to bring out Robbie, Jessie, and Joey Ryan. Rob Terry was then introduced. Terry angrily walked back and forth on the entrance ramp before marching down to the ring as if someone instructed him what to do instead of moving naturally.
[Q3]
2 ROB TERRY vs. JOEY RYAN & JESSIE & ROBBIE E. Handicap match
The heels cut off Terry at the knees early on, then tried to work on him, but Terry shook off the attack and Hulked Up. Terry took out Joey, then double-suplexed Robbie and Jessie. Terry then finished off Joey with his one-hand pumpslam for the pin and the win.
WINNER: Terry at 3:34.
Still to come: Matt Morgan vs. Sting in a #1 contenders match.
Backstage: Austin Aries and Bobby Roode were shown walking down the hallway with their heads hung low after not being able to re-capture the Tag Titles last week.
[Commercial Break]
Tag Team Division Segment
In-ring: Bobby Roodes music played to bring out Roode followed by Austin Aries. The duo slowly made their way to the ring as Tenay noted they will be in a #1 contenders match against Daniels & Kazarian next week.
In the ring, Roode leaned against the top rope and named Kazarian and Daniels. Roode said last week they played mind-games and got into his head talking about re-forming a group called Fortune. But, obviously it was never about re-forming anything, just their jealously.
Aries took the mic next and said not for one second did he believe a word they were saying. He said those guys are best friends, but they are not. He said they like each other just enough to have a common goal of winning matches and titles. Aries said they are a team of World champions, something neither Kaz nor Daniels know anything about, nor will ever know anything about.
This led to Danielss music interrupting to bring out Daniels. Kaz followed behind as they angrily marched to the ring. Once in the ring, Daniels said no one is getting blood flow in the lower region when Aries and Roode are in the ring. He means boner, Kaz said off-mic like a junior-higher. Daniels then hyped their #1 contender battle next week. Roode angrily replied that they will do whatever it takes to become tag champs.
Suddenly, Chavos music played. Chavo said hes tired of talk, talk, talk and blah, blah, blaaaaaah. As Hernandez stood behind Chavo, Chavo noted that Hulk Hogan has booked a special referee for next weeks #1 contender match. Chavo said this referee likes to count in six-packs.
[Q4] James Storms music then played to bring out Storm on-stage. Storm walked past Chavo and Hernandez as Taz noted they have a drunk female referee in ODB and now a drunk male referee in James Storm. On the entrance ramp, Storm saluted Chavo and Hernandez before glaring into the ring to stare down the heel tag teams.
Locker Room: Sting knocked on the door to talk to Kurt Angle. Angle said hes ready for Aces & Eights tonight. Sting then told the hallway camerman that he needs a minute with Angle. Sting closed the door, but the cameraman put the camera on Sting and Angles conversation, which could be seen through a clear-panel window. Impact cut to commercial before Sting and Angle got too deep into conversation.
[Commercial Break]
Locker Room: Tara was shown complaining to Gail Kim about Taryn. Gail then complained about Taryn being all over the new Knockouts website. They both agreed to embarrass Taryn and Mickie James in the ring tonight. Tara walked off, then the camera stayed on Gail, who vowed to get the victory.
Backstage: Chris Sabin talked about getting back in the ring tonight. Sabin said hes had seven matches the last two years after wrestling non-stop for 11 years. He added that it was a great feeling being back in the ring.
Tonight: Morgan vs. Sting in a #1 contender match.
In-ring: Christy Hemme was standing by to introduce the next match. Out came D-Lo Brown representing Aces & Eights. After Brown hit the ring, Kurt Angles music played to a big reaction in his home market. But, for some reason, TNA did not emphasize the big reaction by letting the crowd be the sound. Instead, it felt like just another ring entrance for Angle. Keneley said its going to be physical up next.
[Commercial Break]
Impact returned from break one minute before the top of the hour. Before the bell sounded for Kurt Angle vs. D-Lo Brown, Brown took the mic and said he doesnt want to just beat Angle tonight, but humiliate him. He said he will do what no man has ever done before make Angle lose an I Quit match. Brown slapped Angle to begin the match.
[Q5 -- second hour]
3 KURT ANGLE vs. D-LO BROWN I Quit match
On commentary, Taz questioned Browns decision as Angle quickly turned the tables and slapped on a submission. Suddenly, Mr. Anderson showed up ringside. Angle lost focus and was blindsided by Brown from behind. Brown, wrestling in jeans and a big jacket, tried to follow up, but Angle suplexed him to the outside. On the floor, Brown grabbed a hammer, but Angle ducked a hammer shot.
Back in the ring, Brown assaulted Angle as the announcers argued about Angles loss at Lockdown in March. Brown then applied an armbar, but Angle refused to quit. As Brown continued to slow down the pace, TNA cut to a shot of fans on the front row. Actually, it was A&E members watching the match from a safe distance. Back in the ring, Angle broke free of an armbar, then delivered a German Suplex, a second, and a third. Angle wanted more, though, and delivered a fourth. He wanted a fifth and connected. How about a sixth? Angle connected and released after the sixth.
Angle dropped the straps and slapped on the Anklelock center-ring. Brown cried out in pain, then kicked Angle away. Brown then took Angles momentum and turned it into a Samoan Drop. Brown then wanted a powerbomb, but Angle slid over Brown into the anklelock again. This time, Angle grapevined the leg, causing Brown to cry out in pain. Brown tapped, but did not say he quit. Brown fought some more, but then shouted, I quit. Taz was beside himself as Mr. Anderson and D.O.C. just watched from ringside. Anderson then led D.O.C. away as Taz said hes shocked by this.
WINNER: Angle at 8:05. Strong tease for D-Lo Brown getting kicked out of Aces & Eights after all of the second-guessing in the first hour and Anderson turning his back on Brown after losing.
On-stage: Christy Hemme asked Kurt Angle for his thoughts on getting revenge. Angle said hes glad to have won that battle, but he has another issue with A.J. Styles. Angle told Styles to get down here. Impact cut to break as Angle waited for Styles.
[Commercial Break]
In-ring: Back from break, Kurt Angle was still waiting for A.J. Styles, whose music eventually played after Angle waited long enough. Styles then marched down to the ring and locked eyes with Angle before walking into the ring and walking right up to Angles face. Angle backed away to give himself space before saying it doesnt feel right with A.J. Angle said Styles can try to knock his head off, but he wont get very far doing it in his hometown.
[Q6] After waiting out crowd cheers, Angle continued that everyone wants to recruit Styles. Angle said Styles is the reason why he came to TNA because he wanted to have one of the greatest matches of all-time. He said he gets it that A.J. is having a dark time right now, but he and Sting are facing Aces & Eights next week, so he needs to know where Styles stands. Angle told Styles that by next week, he wants an answer. Angle left the ring, leaving Styles alone in the ring. The camera stayed on Styles selling no emotions as he leaned against the ropes.
Still to come: Morgan vs. Sting in a #1 contender match. Announcers: Keneley asked Taz if he has a preference on who wins, and Taz said it doesnt matter. Keneley then fed to a video package documenting how Sting-Morgan was set up earlier tonight.
Backstage: The roving cameraman asked Matt Morgan how feels about getting a #1 contender match tonight. Morgan said waiting is the wrong word because hes been pushed to the backburner way too long while Hogan has been in TNA. Morgan angrily said you are looking at the future World champ, then stormed away.
In-ring: Gail Kim was introduced for Knockouts tag action. After Gail entered the ring, Tara was introduced as her tag partner. TNA replayed Taryn pinning Tara last week, then Taryn was introduced to the ring as the announcers argued about TNA vs. Aces & Eights issues.
[Commercial Break]
4 GAIL KIM & TARA vs. TARYN TERRELL & MICKIE JAMES ODB referee
Back from break, Mickie James was introduced to the ring to round out the participants. ODB then called for the bell to begin the match. The two teams traded control early on as TNA plugged Mickies new album.
[Q7] The heels isolated Mickie, but couldnt put her away with pin attempts. Mickie then escaped and tagged in Taryn, who landed offense before the match broke down. After Mickie cleared Gail to the floor, Taryn rolled up Tara for the pin and the win.
After the match, the heels jumped the winners to take out their frustration and attempt to humiliate Taryn. After Mickie and Tara brawled to the back, Gail attacked Taryn and tried to injure her before refs forced her to the back.
WINNERS: Taryn & Mickie at 6:26.
Backstage: Sting was shown warming up for his #1 contender battle with Matt Morgan.
[Commercial Break]
Earlier Tonight: Kurt Angle made D-Lo Brown scream and quit.
Backstage: Bully Ray could not believe D-Lo Brown quit. Our vice president said, I quit, Bully shouted. Garett Bischoff mouthed off, then Bully told Garett that they walk together, so pipe down. Bully said he will deal with D-Lo next week, then booked himself, Mr. Anderson, and Devon in the six-man tag match next week against Sting, Kurt Angle, and a third member.
Announcers: Tenay and Taz plugged the six-man tag and Aries & Roode vs. Daniels & Kaz next week on Impact.
Backstage: Bobby Roode talked about Kaz and Daniels being two guys who have never carried a company on their backs, unlike them, then vowed to become #1 contenders to the Tag Titles again. As Austin Aries looked on, Roode concluded that Chavo & Hernandez know they cant hold a candle to them, either.
In-ring: Matt Morgan was introduced to the ring for the main event. Morgan, wearing Hulk Hogans Shea Stadium robe, marched to the ring and posed center-ring, mocking Hogan. Stings music then played to bring out Morgans opponent. After Sting posed in the ring, the bell sounded to begin the main event.
[Q8]
5 MATT MORGAN vs. STING #1 contender match to TNA World Title
Morgan opened the match with knees to Stings belly, which was covered by a black t-shirt. Sting recovered in the corner, then Morgan landed more right knees to the gut. Morgan followed with a left-arm clothesline before taunting the crowd. Keneley plugged the Jokers Wild tournament debuting tomorrow night on PPV as Morgan continued to beat down Sting. Morgan followed with a chokeslam, but Sting kicked out of a pin attempt. Impact cut to break with Morgan firmly in control.
[Commercial Break]
Back from break, Morgan was in control of Sting outside the ring. Sting tried to fight back, but walked into knees to the gut. Morgan then rolled Sting back into the ring before delivering a running leg drop across the ring apron. Morgan tried again, but Sting moved this time. Morgan sold a leg injury, so Sting blasted Morgan into the guardrail on the outside. Sting clubbed Morgan with right hands, then tossed Morgan into the ring steps before rolling him into the ring.
Back in the ring, Sting walked into a sidewalk slam from the giant. Morgan smiled into the hard camera, then did the belt-around-the-waist motion. Morgan proceeded to slowly attack Sting, giving Sting time to catch his breath. Morgan then airballed an elbow drop, allowing Sting to fire off right hands into clotheslines. Sting followed with a Stinger Splash before pounding his chest. But, Morgan chucked Sting into the corner and landed headbutts before delivering his rapid-fire elbow strikes. But, Sting got himself fired up and wanted a Stinger Splash, but Morgan exploded out of the corner with a Carbon Footprint for a close two count. Tenay said its rare to see someone avoid the pin after the Carbon.
They reset before Morgan charged Sting for a big corner boot, but Sting moved. Morgan sold a leg injury, so Sting tried to take advantage with the Scorpion Deathlock. Morgan sold pain in his leg before trying to power out of the hold. Morgan cried out in pain as Sting lightly kept the hold applied, losing grip of the hold. Morgan then crawled across the ring to reach the ropes and successfully reached the bottom rope, relieving Sting of the pain of keeping the hold locked in.
Sting wanted the Scorpion again, and this time he applied it in-full center-ring. The crowd popped as Sting sat down on Morgan. Morgan continued to sell not wanting to give up, then collapsed to the mat. Sting was practically sitting down on Morgans butt at this point, which put the onus on Morgan to make this look believable. The ref then checked Morgan for life. One hand dropped to the mat. Then, again. And, the ref called for the bell, awarding Sting the win due to Morgan passing out from the Scorpion.
WINNER: Sting via TKO at 13:08 to become #1 contender to the TNA Title.
Post-match, Sting stood up and wiped his hair back. Aces & Eights then hit the ringside area led by TNA World champ Bully Ray. Ray talked trash to Sting, who listened and surveyed the scene as A&E surrounded the ring. The camera focused on Ray and Sting as Impact ended.
Former WWE Star Dave Batista recently tweeted on rumors that he
was getting in shape to make a return to WWE. Although Batista currently has no
plans to make a WWE return, he remains open to the idea.
"Here's a
cryptic message: I'm focused on movies now. No #MMA anytime soon. No #WWE plans
either, but not opposed. Hopefully #MyFansSupportMe"
Batista has not
appeared on WWE television since May 24th, 2010.
- Several sources report that John Cena's injury is just a deeply bruised heel,
not an Achilles tear as WWE first reported last week. Word is that Cena will
continue to work through the injury.
There is said to be a strong disconnect between The Rock and WWE
right now, although no side will admit it publicly.
Some people within
WWE feel that The Rock didn't do right by the company with his most recent a
run. With that said, a source adds that there will always be people in WWE
saying those kinds of things about The Rock.
Regarding the disconnect
between Rock and WWE officials, the feeling is that everything will be smoothed
out over time.
- There has been a lot of head-scratching over the way Antonio Cesaro has been booked lately, from a series of losses to dropping the United States Title after previously being booked strong.
It's said that Cesaro has not done anything to be in WWE's doghouse and isn't considered to be. Cesaro's booking was explained by a source as just the way WWE creative and production changes from week to week these days. WWE officials really are going back and forth from week to week on who they want to push and who they don't want to push.
After Monday's Raw went off the air, John Cena thanked the

- After the match, Ryback
appears on the stage as Cena sells the injury in the ring. The Shield has
already left through the crowd. A trainer checks on Cena's injury as RAW goes
off the air.
- There's still no word from within WWE on John Cena's injury but
a report from the European tour notes Cena was working with a bruised heel.
Cena's Achilles injury was believed to happen back on April 21st in
Geneva, Switzerland, where he defeated Ryback in a Tables Match.
Cena
continued to work the European tour but was put in six-man matches with Kane and
Daniel Bryan vs. Ryback, Big E Langston and Dolph Ziggler. The injury is also
why Cena was protected at RAW in London and didn't have to work the dark main
event.
As noted earlier, John Cena suffered an injury to his right
Achilles tendon in a match overseas according WWE.com.
Their report was vague and didn't really mention the extent of the
injury or how Cena was hurt but they did however credit the injury to Ryback,
which leaves many to believe that this may be something to add heat to their
upcoming program.
WWE's tour ended with a show last night in Lodz,
Poland and the crew is on their way back for Raw in Columbus, OH, tomorrow
night.
At last night's event, John Cena & Kane & Daniel Bryan
went against Ryback, Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston, doing the same match
they had done the previous nights while on tour. Something worth noting is that
the reports from the show didn't make any reference to anything unusual about
the match.
We will keep you posted as more details from the story
develop.

WWE Still Hopeful for The Network Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/27/2013 at 09:25 AM
WWE held their shareholders meeting on Friday with little fanfare and no new major reveals about anything, including the WWE Network. One shareholder in attendance noted that the meeting was kept unusually short, about an hour long. Vince McMahon was also described as short and dismissive with people asking questions.
Vince still feels the success of the WWE Network is certain. Vince also laughed off a question about The Rock not wrestling again and said WWE is happy with ratings and the third hour of RAW. WWE CFO George Barrios spoke and said WWE will triple their revenue through the Network and monetizing their social media.

- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson reiterated in a Twitter Q&A Friday that
WrestleMania 29 "may have been my last match." This statement follows The Rock
telling radio host Peter Rosenberg last week that WrestleMania was "probably"
his last match.
"Mania may have been my last match. The 3 year goal
was to come in & elevate the WWE. Then proudly 'do the honors.'
#RockTalk."
Rock also added that his injury rehab is "coming along
well" after deciding to have surgery to repair torn abdominal muscles he tore
during the WrestleMania main event match against John Cena.
Multi-time X Division Champion and Tag Team Champion, Chris Sabin, makes his return to IMPACT WRESTLING on the Thursday's May 2nd broadcast on SpikeTV! Watch a special preview video of Sabin's comeback from injury:
James Storm comes out to the ring as we see clips of AJ Styles
beating him last week, and he says that he wanted to fight AJ and he brought the
fight. Storm spots AJ in the crowd and says that his new finishing move hurt
like hell and AJ was the better man last week, but he's not going to cry over
spilled milk because he's a beer drinker. Storm says he'd rather deal with the
Aces & Eights idiots who jumped from behind, and if they wanted to fight,
all they needed to do is call him, tweet him, or whatever. Storm says he knows
that if he calls one of them out, they're all going to come out, but they can
bring as many out as they want because he'll take one or two of them out in the
process. Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian come out and Daniels says they
want to weigh in on the matter since they were also victims of Aces &
Eights. Hogan doesn't have an answer to the Aces & Eights problem, but the
two smartest men in the room know the answer to the problem, because Aces &
Eights has been playing the numbers game, but they know the magic number and
it's four. Not just any four, but Fortune. Kazarian says that all AJ needs to do
is forgive himself for giving them cheapshots last week because he forgives
them, then get away from the fartknockers in the audience and get in the ring
with his boys Bad Influence and reform Fortune tonight since it's the right
thing to do. AJ doesn't respond, but Storm says everyone wants them to shut up,
so Kazarian tells "Travis Tritt" that the fans don't concern them and Storm is
irrelevant, and this leads to Storm jumping Daniels and getting laid out 2-on-1
while AJ watches from amidst the fartknockers. Daniels and Kazarian leave as
Aces & Eights comes out to the ring and surround Storm, Garett Bischoff and
Wes Brisco get a table out from under the ring and set it up so Anderson can
powerbomb Storm through it, but Joseph Park runs out and gets a couple of shots
in before the gang overwhelms him and he gets laid out as well. Doc and Mike
Knox get ready to double chokeslam Park through the table, but Bully Ray tells
them to stop so he and Devon can give Park 3D through the table. In a nice
touch, Park's hand is twitching as he lays on the mat with Aces & Eights
standing over him as we go to commercial.
We're back, and Aces &
Eights are still in the ring as Joseph Park is being carried out, and Bully Ray
tells the crowd they said they weren't screwing around. He tells the fans to
look around because there ain't no heroes left: no Samoa Joe, no Brutus Magnus,
no James Storm, no Joseph Park, NOBODY. Last week, he called out one man (crowd
chants for Hogan), and Bubba says that's right, he called out his next victim,
Hulk Hogan. He tells "Dad" that he has until the end of the show to answer his
challenge, because when you ride with Aces & Eights, you never walk alone.
We go to the announcers, who tell us that Hulk Hogan was here, but he
left hours ago and we don't know why. Todd says we don't know if he's coming
back, and Taz says there's no way because he's not dumb enough to show up.
We go to a video package that recaps Mickie's path back to a title shot,
and she feels sorry for Velvet because she has to fight through an injury, but
she needs to remind everyone of how good she is and it's her time to shine.
Taryn Terrell makes her way to the ring, and she faces Tara...NEXT!
Hulk Hogan returns to the building and the annoying dumbass with the
camera tries to get some answers about where he went, but Hogan says to let it
go and walks off.
Taryn Terrell vs Tara
Terrell
goes nuts on Tara, beating her into the corner, hitting a rolling neckbreaker,
and then a series of hairtosses. Terrell goes back after Terrell in the corner,
but she gets hotshot off the top rope and Tara starts putting the boots to her
and rams her face into the mat. Now Tara hairtosses her across the ring, ODB
gives her a laying down of the law before Tara gives Terrell a catapult into the
corner. Tara gets Terrell in a version of the Muta Lock and then snaps back on
the knee and covers Terrell for a series of two counts. Terrell tries to mount a
comeback, but Tara lifts her in the air by the neck and chokes her for a 4 count
before just dropping her to the mat. That's some good power there by Tara. Tara
is just toying with Terrell and doesn't even really seem to be trying too hard
to cradle her on the pin attempts. Tara catapults Terrell into the bottom rope
this time and gets another couple of 2 counts, but Terrell moves out of the way
of a slingshot rolling legdrop and finally starts that comeback with a series of
clotheslines and a verticla suplex. Terrell goes to the top for a flying
bodypress, but she takes too long and Tara moves out of the way. Terrell hits
hard and Tara trash talks her instead of going for the kill, and I justr KNOW
that's going to come back to bite her. Tara picks Terrell up and hits a twisting
side suplex, but again passes up the pin, takes her time to do the ass shaking
moonsault, and gets rolled up for 3.
Winner: Taryn
Terrell
I liked this match, I thought they told a good story of
the veteran taking the rookie too lightly and getting caught because she screwed
around instead of going for the kill.
Robbie E is backstage and tells
Jesse Godderz that Rob Terry always said he knew Jesse had bigger arms and pecs
than him, and when he beats Rob Terry tonight, he'll be on his way to becoming a

dropkicks Terry and gets him in a camel clutch while hammering forearms into his
chest, he covers Terry but only get 1. Jesse comes off the middle rope, Terry
catches him and pops him up into the powerslam, but Robbie E pulls the ref out
of the ring at 2. Terry goes after Robbie E, Jesse tries to blindside him again,
but Terry sees him coming and just LAUNCHES him into Robbie E, then he press
slams Jesse into the ring, hits the spinebuster, and Jesse is out as Terry
covers for 3.
Winner: Rob Terry
Terry reigns
supreme again as Robbie and Jesse seethe at him from the top of the ramp and
wonder what it will take to stop this monster.
Velvet Sky is backstage,
and she's...uh...JUTTING!
Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels catch
up backstage with Bobby Roode and asks him if he wants to reform Fortune. They
say to forget about Storm, but if the three of them stand together, Daniels
knows AJ will rejoin them. Roode seems to be considering it as Daniels and
Kazarian leave, and we see Aries peeking around the corner with a knowing look
on his face as he eavesdropped on their conversation. We look back at two weeks
ago when Bully Ray defeated Jeff Hardy in Full Metal Mayhem to retain the TNA
World Title, and Mike Tenay says that there are rumors that Jeff Hardy is
thinking of walking away from the business. Taz says that comes as no surprise
and tells Hardy do the smart thing and take his ball and go home.
We see
a video package hyping the return of Chris Sabin, who will be back in the ring
next week after two ACL tears put him on the shelf for the better part of the
last two years. Great video package that got me psyched to see him come back.
Chavo Guerrero, Jr & Hernandez come out to the ring, and they'll
defend the title against Bobby Roode and Austin Aries...NEXT!
Austin
Aries comes up to Bobby Roode and says that if he wants to reform Fortune,
that's his business since they're not really friends, just two dominant World
Champions who make a dominant team. He asks how Daniels and Kazarian are such
great wrestlers if Aries was the one who beat him for the title, and why Fortune
disappeared if they were so awesome. Aries says he wants to be a World Tag Team
Champion and wants Roode to do that with him, and if Roode screw him tonight,
he's just screwing himself.
Speaking of Daniels and Kazarian, they join
the broadcast team for our next match...
TNA World Tag Team
Title Match: Chavo Guerrero, Jr & Hernandez vs Bobby Roode & Austin
Aries
The crowd is solidly behind Aries as he locks up with
Chavo and they trade some basic chain wrestling to start the match. Chavo
finally has enough and starts pounding on Aries with right hands before planting
him with a back suplex for 1. Aries tags Roode in and yells at Roode to get to
it when he stops to glance down at Daniels and Kazarian. Roode comes in and
immediately gets flattened by Hernandez, who bowls him over with a shoulderblock
and a big splash for 2. Hernandez gets a delayed vertical suplex on Roode, then
he no-sells Aries when he runs in and tries to chop Hernandez, who just pumps
him up into the air and press slams him, Hernandez goes up the rampway and
charges down for the flying shoulderblock, but Roode and Aries see him coming
and dodge the shot, and Roode covers Hernandez for 2. Roode puts the boots to
Hernandez and hits a vertical suplex so Aries can slingshot in with a rolling
senton for 2. Now Hernandez is in the wrong part of town, as Roode hits a series
of running kneestrikes to the gut and a Canadian legsweep for 2. Hernandez
evades a double team attempt, clotheslines Roode, tosses Aries onto the corner,
and tags in Chavo to clean house and hit some of his Amigos and a rolling front
kick on Aries for 2. Chavo with a DDT on Roode for 2, Hernandez dumps Aries to
the floor and sets Roode up for the Border Toss, but Daniels and Kazarian
interject themselves and allow Roode to hit Hernandez with a psinebuster. Aries
goes for the 450 splash, Hernandez kicks Roode into the corner and knocks Aries
to the floor, then Daniels distracts the referee while Daniels tries to nail
Hernandez, but Hernandez moves and Daniels accidentally lays Roode out. Chavo
goes up top and hits the frogsplash for the win.
Winners: Chavo
Guerrero, Jr & Hernandez
Chavo and Hernandez retain the
title, even though Todd seemed to think Roode and Aries were the champions
through the whole match. The seeds of dissension are sown between Roode and
Aries...though they never really trusted each other to begin with.
The
cameraman catches up with Matt Morgan and asks him what he thinks of tonight's
confrontation between Hogan and Bubba. He says Hogan's signing his death
warrant, but he's headed out to the ring right now to tell everyone what his
solution is, and he wants everybody to pay attention and learn something.
We see Hulk Hogan appearing at the press conference in Florida where he
got heckled while announcing that Impact was coming to town, followed by a video
package of the recent history between Hulk Hogan and Matt Morgan, and then
Morgan comes out to the ring to address the crowd. He says that the last year
and a half of his career have centered around mistakes by Hulk Hogan, mistakes
like taking Sting's adevice and trusting Bully Ray, not naming Matt Morgan the
#1 contender at Lockdown, and giving Bully Ray the title shot so he could steal
the title and make Impact Wrestling implode. Hogan ejected Sting, his best
friend for 20 years, and nobody's seen him since. Jeff Hardy tried to regain the
title for Hogan and TNA, and he got stretchered out of the arena because of Aces
& Eights. The crowd chants for Hogan, and Morgan says he's with them because
he'd like to ask Hogan down to the ring so he can present him with the answer to
all of his problems. Hogan takes his time, but finally comes out to face Morgan,
who says that he doesn't want to BS each other: Hogan has no more horses in the
race and no backup when he comes out to face Bubba later tonight. Everyone knows
they're going to eat him up and spit him out, they've done it to everyone else
on their roster, and he has nobody left. Morgan offers the ultimate solution:
seven feet and 300 pounds of "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan. Nobody wants it more
and nobody has begged for the shot more than Matt Morgan, and nobody's more able
to eliminate them than he is, and he is Hogan's seven foot knight in shining
armor, and if given the opportunity, he'll take Bully Ray's watermelon head and
Carbon Footprint it into the fifth row...for a small price, of course. Morgan
says he'll handle the Bully Ray situation if Hogan gives him the title shot at
Slammiversary right now, and he asks Hogan what he thinks. Hogan stops to look
out at the crowd and gauge their reaction, and the fans seem into the idea.
Hogan tells Morgan that a lot of what he says is true and he has the goods to
get the job done, and Hogan says he probably could, but with his hopes at an all
time high, he was hoping Morgan would do the right thing. Hogan put up with all
of Morgan's crap because he was hoping Morgan would finally become the guy we
all wanted him to be, the second coming of the Mania, BROTHER, but at the end of
the day, Morgan will only do it for a price. If Hogan gave him the title shot
now, it would be a bigger mistake than Bully Ray, and he knows he caused all
this trouble with Aces & Eights, and even if he's not capable, he'll go out
there and take what he needs to take for the sake of the company and he's not
going to hand anything over to Morgan. And by the way, he never saw Andre the
Giant come out here and whine like a little bitch. Hogan drops the mic and
storms off as an irate Morgan stands in the ring in shock that he didn't get his
title shot.
Mickie James and Velvet Sky are backstage, and
they're...WALKING! Aces & Eights are in their satellite clubhouse
laughing over the idea of Hulk Hogan facing them alone after like 20 knee
surgeries, but Bully Ray makes the rest of the gang promise not to get involved
and let him deal with his father-in-law by himself.
Knockouts
Title Match: Velvet Sky vs Mickie James
Mickie looks like she's
worked hard to get herself into great shape. They do some basic feeling out
before Velvet snapmares Mickie and hits a basement dropkick for 2. Velvet hits a
leapfrog and tweaks the knee she injured a couple of weeks ago, and Mickie
hesitates for a moment before going for a cover. She only gets 2, so she gets a
spinning toehold, a very legitimate submission hold that could end a match after
someone suffers an injury like Velvet did...and we choose now to go to
commercial.
We're back, and Mickie is still relentlessly working
Velvet's knee over. She catches Velvet in an STF, Velvet makes it to the ropes
to force a break, and she suddenly starts firing back at Mickie after getting a
second wind. Her knee is still giving her a lot of trouble as she unloads on
Mickie, but collapses when she gets fired into the ropes and goes down in a
heap. Mickie hesitates again, and it costs her as Velvet hits a Russian legsweep
for 2. Mickie hits a leaping enziguiri and goes to the top, and she connects
with a top rope Thesz Press that Velvet just barely kicks out of. Mickie
backdrops Velvet out of In Your Face and sets up for the DDT, but Velvet shoves
her off so Mickie dropkicks the injured knee out from under her. Mickie again
gives Velvet time to recover and Velvet catches her in a small package and she
grabs the damn jeans to get 3!
Winner: Velvet Sky
I don't think Velvet actually was supposed to cheat to win the match,
but they were close enough to the ropes that I guess she had to do something to
hit the finish and it was one of those things that just kind of happens.
Bully Ray and Devon are backstage gloating over being the most
successful tag team in history, and now they hold the TNA World and TV Titles,
and they lead a pack of wolves and nobody is going to stop them. Bubba's going
out to face his father-in-law, and he's going to be the man to put the final
nail in the coffin of Hulkamania.
We then go to Brooke Hogan, who is
scared to death for her father as he goes out to face Aces & Eights. She
knows she sounds like a hypocrite because she wanted to face Bubba alone too,
but she has bodyguards. I guess Hogan can't bring Atlas Security to the ring
with him? Anyway, Hogan says he made this problem by putting Bubba in the
position to win the title, and now he has to go handle this situation. Brooke
leaves, Hogan asks himself what he's getting himself into, and he goes back to
taping up his wrists.
Bully Ray comes out to the ring, takes a piece of
paper out of his back pocket, and reads off a list of names: Sting, Brutus
Magnus, Samoa Joe, Eric Young, the Pope, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Joseph Park,
James Storm, and he asks what all those names have in common. He says they were
all victims of Aces & Eights, and there's only one victim left. He tells
Hulk Hogan to get out there right now, and Hulk himself comes out with his
business tape wrapped around his fists. Bubba yells to have his music shut off
as he asks a very angry looking Hulk Hogan how his recently-reconstructed knee
is doing. Bubba says Hogan is raring to go and he bets Hogan can't wait to just
punch him in his face, hit him with the big boot, and drop the big leg on him,
but it ain't gonna happen. Hogan can walk down the ramp, step in the ring, and
try to fool the fans, but he'll never in a million years fool Bubba. He can look
in Hogan's eyes and see one and only one thing: pure fear. Hulk Hogan fears
Bully Ray, and he fears him because he reminds Hogan of himself, he's the last
of a dying breed, Hogan's breed. Hogan asked if he ever thought he would see
Bubba standing there, and reminds Hogan that he's the President of Aces &
Eights, the TNA World Champion, his son-in-law, and the man who's going to put
an end to Hulkamania. Hogan says Bubba can't put an end to Hulkamania because
Hulkamania will never die. They throw down their microphones, Bubba turns his
hat around backward as Taz cheers for Bubba to go after his knee, but instead
Bubba just spits in Hogan's face. Hogan stops and shakes his head and starts to
walk away, but then he gets the look of the Hulkster, tears his shirt off, and
does YOU! at Bubba. Bubba goes YOU back at him and they stare each other down
until Bubba takes a swing at Hogan, who blocks, whips Bubba to the ropes for the
big boot, but Bubba grabs the ropes and pulls himself out to the floor. The rest
of Aces & Eights comes out and surrounds the ring, and things are looking
really bad for Hogan...but the lights go out, and when they come back up, Sting
is in the ring and is pointing his bat at Hogan. Bubba looks really excited, but
we all know what's going to happen next. Sure enough, Sting turns around, nudges
Bubba's hat off with the bat, and starts laying out Aces & Eights with the
bat while Hogan knocks a few off himself. Aces & Eights heads for the hills,
but instead of giving Hogan a big, sloppy hug and kiss, he points his bat at
Hogan and then walks off without saying a word. Sting is back to help TNA, but
it looks like he and Hogan still have a ways to go as a bewildered Hogan stares
out at the crowd as we call it a week.
