Within just weeks of the recent short-term reformation of both The Hardys and MNM, WWE fans witnessed the rebirth of perhaps the greatest team in sports-entertainment: Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin, The Worlds Greatest Tag Team Monday night on Raw. Unlike the reunions of both Matt & Jeff and Mercury & Nitro, former WWE Tag Team Champions Haas & Benjamin are arguably the most focused pairing to be rejoined, as they intend on making a lasting impression on Raw.
The antics of Cryme Tyme are just oppressive; what theyre doing to disgrace to the black man, explained a livid Haas. I feel bad for Shelton and every other African American because what [Cryme Tyme] is doing is absolutely insulting. Were going to show them that these stereotypes are not right.
It was just two years ago that this dynamic team was split apart by the 2004 WWE Draft Lottery that sent Benjamin to Raw. Since then, Benjamin captured and has recently sought to reclaim Intercontinental gold while Haas spent time in tag action with a number of WWE Superstars, past and present.
Taking nothing away from other Superstars hes teamed with, Haas expressed that he is truly proud to once share the ring with the three-time Intercontinental Champion Benjamin.
Were a well-oiled wrestling machine, Haas said. Whether it be DX, Rated-RKO, a team from SmackDown or ECW, were here to put The Worlds Greatest back on the map.
Though reunited for a most righteous cause, Benjamin and Haas crusade will not end with Cryme Tyme, but rather tag team supremacy.
There are a lot of teams that need to be checked in WWE, Benjamin claimed. The Worlds Greatest is ready to teach Cryme Tyme a little lesson in respect, and from then on, skys the limit. He continued, Its much like Muhammad Ali said: Were shakin up the world.
After nearly a month of battling an illness that stemmed from an enlarged kidney and a fractured sternum, SmackDown Diva Michelle McCool is slowly starting to feel like herself again.
Im off medication and starting to do more activities every day, said an upbeat McCool. The doctors have increased my fluid intake, which was at one point restricted, and Im going to have checkups from here on out. Im going to walk a few miles today and see how that feels.
Getting back to doing normal, everyday activities isnt something McCool is taking for granted either.
Im not able to do any weight training or anything like that, but I am able to drive again. Its good for me, but maybe not for the other drivers on the road, she joked.
After visiting a specialist on Wednesday, McCool was informed her blood pressure was still low. She said the specialist attributed the low blood pressure to the muscle loss she suffered during her two week hospital stay. Still, shes feeling better with each passing day, and chalks the mystery surrounding her sickness to an unlucky coincidence.
I guess the fact that they cant pinpoint the exact diagnosis is just one of those freak medical things; [doctors] are still looking into why it happened, but Im recovering and hopefully it wont happen again.
When WWE.com last spoke to McCool, she had just been released from the hospital. She had lost a significant amount of weight and muscle mass, forcing her to spend the Thanksgiving holiday hospitalized.
Upon being discharged, her doctor ordered rest and relaxation. While doctors have yet to determine the reasoning behind her illness, their orders have helped McCool thus far.
Im getting better, but the speed of my recovery depends on my body. Im [mentally] ready to come back, she explained.
While its evident that McCool is mentally prepared to return to action, shell have to let her body catch up with her mind, something she finds difficult to do.
Im not a patient person and sitting around the house waiting to get back to WWE does me no good.
WWE Champion John Cena was a presenter at the first annual Arbys Action Sports Awards recently in Los Angeles. The show, which honors extreme sports such as BMX, motocross and surfing, aired on FOX Sunday afternoon.
The Action Sports Awards are great for the action sports movement, all the X-sports cycling, wakeboarding, skiing, snowboarding , skateboarding, Cena told WWE.com. That shows that a lot more people are watching that type of stuff.
I presented Best Slam with Emanuelle Vaugier from CSI: Miami. She was beautiful, Cena continued.
The Champ and Vaugier awarded the Best Slam to Jeremy Twitch Stenberg. Cena admitted Twitch was his favorite athlete at the awards.
Im really kind of partial to the guy who won Best Slam hes nicknamed Twitch only because he is a live fast guy, kind of like myself, Cena said.
Hes also fighting and overcoming Tourettes Syndrome, so to see him kind of work with his disability and garner so much success is pretty cool.
Career Highlights: World Tag Team Champion; WWE & WCW Cruiserweight Champion; European Champion; WWE Hardcore Champion; WCW Hardcore Champion
WWE Debut: July 2001
World Championship Wrestling
World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment
United States Champion Chris Benoit and Layla spent the second day of SmackDowns European tour at Two Mile Military Base. The NATO Response Force at the base is responsible for assisting with Darfur deployments in Sudan.
One veteran, who just finished a five-year tour and was set to leave, delayed his flight a day so he could stay with his family and meet the Superstars.
The base hosts the U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy as well as military for Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany.

The Worlds Largest Athlete has made his lifes biggest decision, and for now, WWE and ECW will be without a giant.
Not since Andre the Giant has there been a man of Big Shows stature whos made such impact on sports-entertainment. But, after more than seven years in WWE and a five-month reign of dominance in the reborn ECW, Big Show has decided to take time away from the ring.
Enduring not only one of the most physical confrontations in his career against new ECW World Champion Lashley on ECW on Sci Fi, but also experiencing the agony and misery within the torturous Extreme Elimination Chamber, it seemed that this week was the breaking point for the giant.
Some close to Big Show have said that his pride was lost after losing the ECW World Title. His lingering emotions and injuries, coupled with several tumultuous days contributed to his decision to step away.
Im a raw-boned bastard that breaks things and moves the immovable objects. When Im injured, I cant do those things, said the Extreme Giant. Im much more valuable healthy both mentally and physically, and this hiatus will help me to get there.
According to Big Show, he has been plagued by a multitude of injuries from herniated discs to torn muscles, but has still competed through the pain. Bodily damage of this nature is something an ordinary individual (of far smaller size) could never endure, let alone carry the weight of the ECW World Title in a highly physical realm of hardcore.
Ive reached a point in my career right now where I am a little run down and hurt pretty bad physically, explained the Extremist. Ive been wrestling the past three months pretty much in pain every night. I cant compete at the level I want to compete at, and thats the most heartbreaking thing.
Despite his display of supremacy, Big Show claimed that his performance in the ring has not been at his full potential. It is this that has driven the immense competitor to step away from WWE for now.
I think every athlete reaches a point in their career when he really has to check himself and evaluate what is going on, said the 500-pound Extremist. Anybody who knows me knows I need a break. People go through life so fast sometimes they miss it; I just want to put on the breaks.
According to the Worlds Largest Athlete, the physical ache hes experienced doesnt compare to the emotional anguish thats accompanied his decision to take a break not just from his career, but also the familial lifestyle of sports-entertainment.
With a career thats spanned more than one decade, Big Show has held every major World Championship in sports-entertainment and is the only man to hold the WWE Championship, ECW World Title and World Heavyweight Championship.
More importantly, the Extreme Giant said that in his conquests, hes had the extraordinary opportunity to have battled the biggest icons in sports-entertainment including Hulk Hogan, Triple H, Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Undertaker and countless others.
Its bittersweet; this business is a family. Ive been traveling and Ive been in this business for 11 wonderful years, stated a passionate Big Show. Ive been able to work with almost every top Superstar in this business thats ever meant anything Ive had some very memorable matches and Im thankful for it.
Whether cheered or jeered by WWE fans, Big Show has always been respected and kept audiences in sheer awe. Now, the seven-footer is anxious to take some time away from the spotlight, though that spotlight shines extra bright upon an individual of such mammoth size.
Being this big, you can never hide, he admitted with a large grin. Im thankful for it but right now I just want some time for myself. Im thankful for the fans and I hope that they can respect this decision and can be supportive too.
While Big Show hopes to recover and refresh himself, he discussed his possible involvement in a future WWE Films release.
I want to reinvent myself if possible, and find out who Big Show really is, he admitted. Id like to do a WWE movie a comedy because I have a pretty good sense of comedic timing. Im a pretty humble, lovable, funny, easy-going guy with a short fuse. Then again, like Chris Rock said, nobody wants to laugh at a big guy who could beat your ass.
Until then, itll be a big, bad show tonight and every other night until the Extreme Giant makes his way back home to the squared circle.
Im thankful for everything, asserted Big Show. For every man who has stepped in the ring with me and trusted me with their bodies. For WWE officials who have been so supportive of my decision when I basically went to them in tears and told them I was burnt out.
In addition to these very genuine words, Big Show also had a message for ECW and WWE fans alike.
Id like to give a special thanks to ECW fans, he added. I wasnt a part of the original ECW, but I gave all I had for them and I hope solidified my part in ECW. For anyone who has cheered me, loved me, hated me and booed me: thank you.
ECW Extremists to today's announcement of Paul Heyman's dismissal seem split down tenure lines. The ECW Originals appear upset and in a state of shock, whereas the new breeds seem to have a more optimistic outlook.
"I'm shocked," said Tommy Dreamer. "I don't know what's going on right now."
Dreamer boasts the longest tenure with ECW, and has known Heyman for more than ten years. Fellow ECW Original, Stevie Richards was equally shocked by the announcement.
"I have no idea what to say, except whatever Paul decides to do eventually, I wish him the best of luck in future endeavors," said Richards.
While many of the ECW Originals were too shocked by Heyman's dismissal to react to the situation yet, Rob Van Dam had some very strong words. While the two have not always gotten along over the years, RVD clearly doesn't like the idea of Heyman not being a part of the brand.
"I think that without Paul fighting for a better direction to take ECW... I fear that it's in for some horrible changes," said Van Dam.
It seems the Originals are wrestling with the idea of what an ECW without Heyman will mean. However, for those who have only been with Heyman and the brand since debuting on Sci Fi in June of this year, the future is looking bright.
"To quote a famous man, Hulkamania dies when Hogan dies, 'Woo' dies when Ric Flair dies, but when that man [Heyman] is gone and while he's gone, ECW will live on," said relative newcomer Elijah Burke.
"During a hurricane, some trees fall, others remain standing," explained Matt Striker. "During a hurricane, some houses fall, others remain standing. But the fishing is always better after the hurricane has passed."
In an industry where nothing seems to stay the same, one ECW Original summed up what you can always count on.
"Well it just goes to show you, nothing ever surprises you in the world of sports-entertainment," said Little Guido.
Distraught by the results of December to Dismember, ECW Representative Paul Heyman appeared to be distant and depressed this afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum hours before an ECW live event.
This condition was further exasperated by Mr. McMahon, who decided to send Heyman home. The WWE Chairman cited slumping television ratings and a disgruntled talent roster as causes for Mr. Heymans dismissal.
