The Great Khali Has Tumor Removed Posted by Steve Carrier on 07/26/2012 at 09:53 PM
According to TribLive News, The Great Khali had to have a tumor removed from his pituitary gland at UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Here's an excerpt from the article.
The tumor removed during a four-hour procedure on Wednesday led to the growth spurt that caused Singh to achieve a height of 7 feet, 1 inch and a weight of 347 pounds, according to UPMC neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Maroon, who led the surgical team.
Maroon said Thursday the tumor causes a condition called acromegaly, which can be fatal if left untreated.
Khali is expected to recover within two to three months.
Zack Ryder Says Kane and Eve Killed His Career Posted by Steve Carrier on 07/25/2012 at 10:25 PM
After gaining snowball-like momentum late last year with a heavily featured position on Monday Night Raw that was highlighted by a United States Championship reign, Zack Ryder's standing in WWE disintegrated once he became involved with Kane and Eve on television. From January to April, the self-described "Long Island Iced-Z" was routinely destroyed by the monster wrestler and made to look foolish by the cunning Diva. Though he managed to gain a measure of revenge on both parties on the "Great American Bash" edition of SmackDown on July 3, his career currently remains in limbo. Speaking to XFINITY® from Comcast, Ryder attributes his diminished role to both Kane and Eve.
He explains, "I was on such a roll at the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012 and the whole Kane and Eve thing killed my momentum. Basically killed my career. So, to turn that around and get revenge on them was something I needed. Hopefully itll get the Ryder Revolution back on track."
With that behind him, Ryder says his current goal is to regain the United States Championship.
"I'd love to get that back," he says. "In 2011 I think I proved to people that Im not a joke, I can be taken seriously in the ring. And hopefully by the end of this year Ill have a major championship."
Ryder also has plans to tweak his character in the next few years since he "cant be the same old guy forever."
Ryder adds, "But that doesnt mean Ill have to drop all of the parts of my character to get to the top. I think eventually Ill evolve. If youve followed my career I was a Major Brother, then an Edge Head, now Im Zack Ryder, Im sure in three years Ill be completely different."
Elsewhere in the interview, Ryder discusses WWE embracing social media, the Internet Championship, working with Edge and more. Read more here.
- Once a promising talent in WWE's midcard scene, Alex Riley's role in the company has been greatly curtailed since last year. According to PWInsider.com, the Raw Superstar is in the doghouse stemming from a hostile backstage encounter with John Cena.
Cena was reportedly poking fun at Riley in front of their wrestler peers, and in response, the Raw talent angrily reacted to Cena's "rib"a violation of the unspoken rules of the WWE locker room. Though Riley's exact actions are not known at this time, his unfavorable reaction to WWE's cherished star was not considered a good move.
Kenn Doane, who appeared as Kenny of the Spirit Squad and Kenny Dykstra for WWE from 2006 to 2008, weighed in on the matter after claiming last month that Cena's backstage politics sabotaged his once promising grappling career.
He tweeted, "Cena acts stupid to riley, riley calls him on it, loses push. This must be a lie! Lmao #ibelieve."
- Regarding Dolph Ziggler's crazy bumps, it's said that he comes up with all of the ideas and pretty much pushes to be allowed to do them. The big bump at Money in the Bank with Tensai was exactly as he had envisioned it and pushed for.
- Word on Kharma's WWE departure is that she had been in Florida training for her return to action but got the knock for being out of shape, hard to work with and stubborn about suggestions of how they wanted to change her character. She had been losing weight since we last saw her.
Regarding Alex Riley's status with WWE, it's said that he lost his push that was in the works because of a backstage incident with John Cena.
PWInsider.com reports word going around is that a while back, Riley was backstage with John Cena and Cena was ribbing him in front of some of the other wrestlers. Riley reportedly came back angrily at Cena, which was seen as him "breaking the code of the locker-room."
- Kharma confirmed on Twitter this week that she was indeed released from WWE. A fan asked if it was true that Kharma was "granted" her release from WWE. Kharma replied:
TNA Knockout Velvet Sky has revealed on
her offical twitter page that she asked, and was granted her release from TNA
Impact Wrestling. She tweeted :
"I have been granted my release by TNA at
this time. It's what's best for me right now and I wanted to thank TNA and all
the fans for their constant support in me. Stay tuned though.. And I also want
to thank Vince Russo for creating and believing in the team of The Beautiful
People. We had a great run! @Actualalove "
Former WWE and Ring Ka King Wrestler Chris Masters, known in Ring Ka King as The
American Adonis posted the following comment on his official twitter account teasing a possible debut
tonight:
Tying in with the rumors from yesterday,
TNA Knockout Velvet Sky's profile has been removed from the roster page on ImpactWrestling.com. This usually indicates that a
wrestler has parted ways with the organization.
UPDATE: Velvet Sky's roster page has
returned. Whether or not this confirms her re-signing with TNA has yet to be
determined.
