    Results from the Slammiversary Pay-Per-View

    X-Division Championship
Aries began unleashing some blows on Joe but Joe brought on a firestorm of hits in retaliation. Joe kept control of for much of the first part of the matchup up and he seemed to land quite a few hits on Aries. Aries was finally able to get back n the match by landing a suicide dive on Joe and things went back and forth between the two for some time. Joe finally went for submission and into a rollup for the pin but Aries kicked out. This did not stop Joe as he continued to wear down on Aries. In an attempt to implement a move from the top rope Joe was thrown to the mat by Aries, then did a flip onto Joe. The fierce back and forth between these two continued at length and all seemed to be over for Joe after Aries reversed a muscle buster on Joe which seemed to almost finish him off. After a few short offensive moves Aries performed his finisher and got the pin on Joe.

    Kid Cash vs. Hernandez.

The match started with these two going face to face but then immediately kicked off with Kid Kash hammering on Hernandez. The size advantage obviously went to Hernandez who started throwing Kash around. Kash was able to turn things around and take the offensive and maintain the upper hand in the match. Hernandez was able to get a few hits in but Kash was in control and displayed an impressive tornado sweeping DDT. Thanks to the leaping ability of Hernandez, he acquired the upperhand leading up to an amazing leap over the top rope to the floor to take out Kash. After a top rope splash Hernandez was able to get the pin for the win.

TV Champion Devon & Garett Bischoff vs. Robbie E & Robbie T
Garett and Robbie E faced off in the ring to start the match, after Garett dominated Robbie E he retreated and tagged in Robbie T. Garett couldn’t seem to lay out Robbie T at all. During the middle of the match Madison Rayne appeared at the ramp and watched. With the help of Robbie E the duo was able to break down Garett. Finally, Garett was able to take out Robbie E long enough to tag in Devon who was able to even things up and even avoid some outside interference from Robbie T. Through his offensive flurry he turned things to the favor of his team and was able to get a near pinfall but was stopped by Robbie T. This did not stop the duo as Garett was later able to stop Robbie T long enough to allow Devon to get a pin on Robbie E.

    #1 Contenders Match:
The three men faced off in the ring with it seeming to be every man for themself. Hardy was able to get a lot of offensive in which led to a near pinfall. Following this things went back and forth between all men. Anderson was able to implement a top rope superplex on Hardy and RVD attempted to take advantage of the situation with a frog splash but missed and caused all three men to be laid out on the mat. All three men seem to be back to square one and they all went to war on one another. After bringing the match outside of the ring we saw Hardy fly off the top rope onto his opponents and take control of the match. Hardy was able to nail a Swonton Bomb off the top rope to attempt a pin on RVD, but the count was stopped by Anderson who pulled out the ref. All three men had near pinfalls but in the end Anderson was able to pull off a mic check and get the pin for the win.

    Open Challenge
After talking himself up in the ring Crimson awaited the person who would accept his open challenge. To the delight of Texas, the challenge was answered by the Cowboy James Storm. Storm came in to start the match with a vengeance giving Crimson no chance to retaliate. After turning his back on him, Crimson was able to get things moving in his favor for a short time. James Storm came to answer his short offensive with his own version of southern justice and finished it off with a last call superkick leading to a pin officially ending the streak of the former undefeated Crimson.

    Hall of Fame Announcment
After thanking the fans of TNA Wrestling Dixie Called out the TNA IMPACT WRESTLING roster to the stage. Carter thanked everyone and introduced Sting as the first inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame. Sting came to the ring where Dixie shared a few words and said the formal induction would happen at Bound For Glory. Sting gave a brief speech and thanked the fans, the roster and Dixie.

    Knockouts Championship
Brooke started that match in control actually driving Gail Kim out of the ring to gather herself. She was able to turn it around and bring the offense to Tessmacher. Gail wore down Tessmacher with a head scissor and continued to wear her down. Kim finally seemed to hurt her with a necktie neck breaker followed with Tessmacher getting knocked down to the floor where Kim could have won via countout, After returning to the ring Tessmacher was able to pull a reverse on Gail Kim to get the pin for the win and be crowned the new Knockouts Champion.

    Bully Ray vs. Joseph Park
In an anything goes match Ray and Joseph faced off but not before Joseph took off his glasses. Ray instigated Park inviting him to throw the first shot, which he obliged and missed terribly. Ray continued with taunting him and smacking him after his many misses. To top things off, Ray spit in the face of Park. In a surprise move Park was able to get a slap in on Ray but was blindsided immediately afterwards. Ray stepped outside the ring to bring a chair into play but as he returned Joseph kicked the rope causing Ray to trip allowing for him to grab the chair dropped by Bully. Joseph was not able to use it as he turned his back allowing for Bully Ray to get the chair and hit him numerous times in the back. After avoiding contact, Park was able to unleash a series of awkward punches on Ray. But Ray kept things on his favor by bringing out his trademark weapons. Though before Ray was able to use the kendo stick, Joseph low blowed him, grabbed the kendo stick and hit him over the head. Park immediately went under the ring. To Bully’s surprise Abyss came out and threw him through the table and disappeared back under the ring. Joseph came back out to get the cover and the pin for the win.

Christian Cage made his appearance and addressed the crowd then presented the #1 Moment in TNA Wrestling History.

    World Tag Team Championship:
The match started with AJ exploding into the ring to kick things off against Kazarian. Styles and Kazarian ended up outside of the ring and AJ did a Springboard off the railing. After bringing it back into the ring AJ threw more offensives at Kazarian then tagged in Kurt Angle who ended up facing off against Daniels shortly after being tagged in. Kurt was able to break down Daniels then tag in AJ. Kazarian was brought back in and as AJ attempted to climb to the top rope he was stopped by Daniels allowing Kazarian to kick him making AJ fall and get hung up in the ropes. The two continued to work on AJ. Styles was finally able to get his opening with a suplex, giving him time to tag in Angle who was able to bring in a massive offense on the champs all the way to getting a near pinfall. In a massive showin of Strength Angle was able to Suplex both Daniels and Kazarian. The champs however were able to stop the challengers from gaining any ground. After a very impressive set of offenses from Angle and Styles, the match was nearly over but the count was stopped by Daniels to which Styles responded by doing an amazing flip outside of the ring. With Daniels out of the picture Angle was able to work Kazarian into submission and new tag team champs were crowned.

    World Heavyweight Championship
The Match Started out with Roode avoiding Sting but Sting would not have it as he brought out an offense on him that Roode could not get away from. Things ended up outside the ring thoughout the match as Roode tried to get away from the Stinger numerous times. Finally Roode was able to get into a groove and take control of the match from Sting. Sting was able to conjure up the strength to get back into the game with a suplex off the top leading to a scorpion death lock which brought the crowd to its feet. Roode was able to escape this and promptly left the ring and attempted to leave the arena but Sting stopped the attempt and pounded on him outside of the ring bringing things to the announce table where he implemented the Scorpian Deathlock on him on top of the table but was stopped by the Ref. In the scuffle Roode grabbed a six pack that was sitting by the table and later used the bottle to bash Sting over the head leading to a pin for the win keeping Roode the World Heavyweight Champion. Something snapped in Sting and he beat on Roode throughout the arena and gave a scorpion death drop on Roode off the entrance ramp.

    Regal Busted Opened

    - At Thursday night's final FCW TV tapings, the highly anticipated rematch between Dean Ambrose and William ended in a no contest due to referee stoppage. During the match, Ambrose caused Regal to bleed from the head and the officials stopped the match.

Top WWE Star Moving from Raw to Smackdown Brand

Top WWE Star Moving from Raw to Smackdown Brand
Posted by Steve Carrier on 06/08/2012 at 09:03 AM

WWE has made arrangements for CM Punk to switch from Raw brand house shows, to Smackdown brand house shows.

With the recent suspension of Randy Orton, the Smackdown brand tour would have been suffering with top star power without the necessary changes. These changes will go into effect on June 23rd for the Smackdown show in Springfield, IL, where Punk, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio will be used as the Smackdown brand headliners. John Cena and Big Show will be used as the Raw headliners.

This change will only be temporary at this point, just to get through the next 60 days, since Punk is not being advertised for the Smackdown television tapings, where Cena and Triple H are being pushed as the main stars in the local markets. The plans have been for Cena to only work dark matches and Hunter to just do cameos at least for now.

The rule of thumb normally is to have one champion on each touring brand. However, all five men who are in the two title matches at No Way Out, Punk, Bryan, Kane, Del Rio and Sheamus, are all scheduled to be on the Smackdown tour this summer.

    Ex-NXT Contestant Released?

The official website of Florida Championship Wrestling has removed Eli Cottonwood from their roster page, which would indicate that he has been released from his developmental contract with WWE.

Cottonwood appeared as a contestant on the second season of NXT, with John Morrison as his mentor. He was the second contestant to be eliminated from the program, following Titus O'Neil. He returned to Florida Championship Wrestling, where he largely appeared in a bodyguard role.

    On his naysayers and detractors

    Quote

There is always going to be naysayers out there. I really wish sometimes we could get the exact number, percentage wise of how many detractors I have. Lots of times the naysayers or the haters, they are a small percentage of people, but they tend to have the loudest voices for some reason. People pay attention to that. Over the years I have tried to ignore it. I can’t say over the years I have botched my career up. I think I am making a wise choice by choosing not to hear it.

How beneficial is it for Bobby Roode to headline a main event with you?

    Quote

Of all the guys coming up that I have tried to get to that next level, Bobby Roode has answered the call better than anyone I can ever remember. Bobby, whether you love him or hate him brings it every night. He looks the part, he plays the part and he is world champion caliber. For me to be with him in the middle of the ring again one more time, I don’t think it will hurt Bobby.

Sting on why he always stays with TNA

    Quote

It’s a brand that I fit in to most. And I still think I fit in even after all these years. It is a lot like WCW was in the early days. We were at Universal, we were at Disney, we were the second rate company, the second class citizen until Monday Night Nitro happened. So here we are going live 13 weeks in a row and this is something that I have wanted to do since I got there. I want this company to grow. I like the people behind the cameras, in front of the cameras. It’s a good group of people. It’s not all about the money for me at this point. I think my actions in the ring, my interviews, everything I have done over the last few years, especially proves it’s not about me anymore.

Sting on the first inductee into the TNA HOF and if he should be the first

    Quote

I’m still an active wrestler. I’m still in the ring. If we are going to be picking and choosing people potentially that are still working, there are lots of guys….great name people…AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels. All these guys that came along way before I did. These guys were paving the way before I got into TNA. To me it doesn’t make sense to put me in there. It makes more sense to put one of those guys. Jeff Jarrett is another one. I’m not kayfabing you, I have no idea who it is. I hope its not me.

On how close he came to signing with the WWE

    Quote

Four times over the last twenty years I have had conversations with Vince McMahon and it was close. I would say on average it was up there around a 7, maybe an 8. But this last one, we were at about a 9.5. Now years ago the reason why I didn’t sign with the WWE was I didn’t like the way they used some WCW guys. I thought more times than not, they wanted to get talent from WCW more to undermine WCW than actually wanting the talent. Every time I would go back to Turner or whoever it was and they would say 'what will it take to keep you here?' I would tell them 'it’s going to take this'. We always came to terms. I never had something against WWE. I read sometimes people saying 'Sting hates Vince McMahon'. I don’t understand that. I never said I hated Vince McMahon. I’ve had great conversations with him over the years. I hold nothing against him and I have nothing against the WWE.

    On him becoming born-again

    Quote

I was forgiven a whole lot. I have a testimony out there. I did everything under the sun. My marriage is gone. I’m divorced now. I have never said that publicly. I’m saying it for the first time. I am divorced. It is because of all the choices I made on the road all those years and falling into every temptation that there was. I know I was forgiven and I will be forever grateful for that. I’m not ashamed to say I believe in Jesus Christ and he is my Lord and Savior.

On Ric Flair in TNA and what went wrong

    Quote

I don’t know what happened to him. I’m still trying to find out. As a matter of fact I am going to call him so I can hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. I’ve heard rumors, but I don’t want to talk about it until I talk to Ric personally. Sounds like there is still a chance that he could come back, but until I talk to him I won’t know for sure.

On what Ric Flair has meant to his career

    Quote

Kudos to Ric Flair. He put me on the map. I owe a lot to Ric. I am forever grateful to him. He had the ability to make or break me and many others. He chose to make me. I enjoyed working with him so much over the years. He taught me more in the first 12 months in the ring with him than I did for the first 24 months in the business. He kind of took me under his wing and helped me out. I’ll always be a Ric Flair booster.

On companies trying to bring back old stars and not create new ones

    Quote

The TNA guys are not idiots or stupid people. They don’t say ' I don’t care what the wrestling fan thinks, so we are going to do what we want to do. Let’s just keep Hogan and Sting in the picture until they die'. It’s literally people that come together and say 'ok let’s look at the ratings, let’s look at the quarter hours. Let’s see what happens when we put Hulk or Sting at a car dealership and see what people we get draw-wise.

Let’s listen to the fan reaction at all of these different venues that fans do go to. How do they react to each individual wrestler? What are they saying when they do the research on the Q ratings stuff.' They will do research like this. On top of that, what do you like to see in this character? You’ve got a lot of people doing research asking 'how can we make this better?' They want the ratings to be good. You guys might be looking at it like 'they are afraid to take a risk, they are putting too much of the older stars with the new stars. They should just stick with the new.' From our side of it, we are trying to push the new and sometimes you have to use the old to push the new.

On the fairly low rating for the first live TNA Impact

    Quote

It wasn’t fairly low. It completely sucked. From what I heard it was one of the worst ones we have had in a long time. That’s fuel for the fire for you guys. I know it is. It’s one of those times when you have to go 'oh my god!' You can’t win for losing. I believe no one really knew that we were eight o’clock instead of nine o’clock. We were up against the NBA. I’m sorry but it was a double whammy. The very first week on a new time slot, and I just don’t believe anyone really knew.

I think it’s going to be a while before they catch on. I’m saying this publicly for the first time so if Dixie hears this, it’s ok. I told Bruce Prichard this…that first week I don’t know what it was..me and Bobby had a great reaction, but the live buzz didn’t seem like it was right. I couldn’t put a finger on it. Then as the rest of the night went on I was asking around 'where’s the buzz?' and everyone was in agreement. Then I started to think, we do all of the TV tapings here, we do most of our PPV’s here, so it just felt like another TV taping even though we were live. But last night for some reason had a live buzz to it for the whole show. So I’m hoping this momentum will be picked up.

Sting Interview: Talks TNA's Growth, 10 Years, Staying In Shape And More

Sting Interview: Talks TNA's Growth, 10 Years, Staying In Shape And More

TNA Wrestler Sting spoke with The Miami Herald about the groth of TNA over the last 10 years. Below is a quick recap.

On the groth of TNA since he started with the company:
“Spike was coming on board, and they were interested in my return to wrestling, along with [TNA President] Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett and even his father, Jerry, at the time,” Sting remembered during a recent conference call to promote the Slammiversary pay-per-view.
“It was just something that I said, ‘It’s now or never.’ I didn’t like the way wrestling ended in 2001 for me, so I took it on. I loved the brand. The difference between then and now [with TNA] was then you were in the [Nashville] Fairgrounds, which isn’t even there anymore, in front of ‘x’ amount of people, not very many.
“Now you are in 120 countries worldwide. We filled up the Wembley Arena earlier this year, which was phenomenal, unbelievable. The interest we have and ratings we have in other countries and growing here in the United States every year 10 years later, we are a growing company, and it feels good. Good growing pains.”

On his match with Bobby Roode:
“Bobby Roode, whether you love him or hate him or are indifferent, he brings it every single night,” Sting said. “He looks the part. He can work with anyone. He can have a great match with anyone. I think he carries himself well. I have personally pushed to keep him where he is. I poured into him. I think there is still some good fruit, and we are all witnessing it now.”

    On staying in shape:
“It is very difficult,” Sting said. “I was in the gym every day this week. Every time I have to work with a Bobby Roode or a Kurt Angle I’m trying to get that cardio in. I’ve got a trainer who I’ve been working with the last three months. We’ve made some huge strides into getting some more mobility and flexibility in my movements in my body, my knees, my back and the whole package. So I’m training a lot differently now.
“I’m probably training more consistent now and harder than I have in a long time, combined with eating the right way. I think that last Thursday night [May 31] I could tell there was a difference in the way I felt in the ring. I had lots of people and fans, including some of the wrestlers make comments. I think the next week it will be better. The next eight weeks, 16 weeks, I’m hoping to get back to where I was 15 years ago.”

On evaluating his time in TNA every year:
“It’s almost ridiculous for me to try to answer the question,” Sting said. “This is not wrestling gaga. This is the truth. Every year I think, ‘This is it. I cannot physically go on anymore.’ Dixie has been persistent, and I’m having a good time. At the same time we are growing. We turned WCW into what it was years ago via the avenue of Monday Nitro. I’d love to see the same situation here with TNA.
“It’s hard to walk away when we’re not quite there. Some people may think they are not going to get there, but I think there are a whole bunch of people out there who believe, ‘Oh yes we will.’ We are getting ready to launch new stuff, and you are seeing little bits and pieces of it. It’s only going to get better as time goes on.”

On the critisism TNA gets from the IWC:
“You can’t please everyone,” Sting said. “It boils down to, do we pay attention to everything we read on Twitter or the blogs or all the websites, the dirt sheets and everything else, or do we listen to what the fans are saying in the arenas live? How do they react to each individual wrestler? What are those ratings like every quarter hour? You can get a five-minute rating. You can break it down more than that. It’s like the answers are there. You are not dealing with a bunch of idiots who don’t’ have brains.
“There are people behind this machine who want to make it the best it can be. So they are not going to cram something down somebody’s throat that is not going to work. They are going to at least come up with a good mix of the older guys and the younger guys coming up -- like Bobby Roode and Sting. I think that is paying off. It’s working.”
