TNA Impact Wrestling Results April 19, 2012 from Orlando, FL
* The show kicks off with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode coming out. He he's sporting a new, short hairstyle. Roode started off with some basic gloating. Roode talked about all of his wins, until he was interrupted by Mr. Anderson.
Anderson says he doesn't need a beer bottle to win. Roode tells Anderson to get back in line. Jeff Hardy then came out and limped to the ring. Hardy also wants a World Title shot. Anderson pointed out that he was there first, it should be his title shot. Roode moderated some bickering as refs came out to keep things cool.
This brought Hulk Hogan to the screen. Hogan said that he wants all the champions in the ring later, and announced a number one contender's match between Hardy and Anderson for later in the night.
(1) Bully Ray & Crimson defeated Matt Morgan & X Division champion Austin Aries. Ray picked up the win for his team with a roll-up and handful of tights on Aries.
* Garett came out out with AJ Styles, Mr. Anderson, and RVD to celebrate their victory in the Lethal Lockdown match at the PPV. AJ complimented Garett on his balls at Lockdown, but their celebration is interrupted by Ric Flair. From the top of the ramp Flair claims that Eric is responsible for all the talent in the ring. He called Garett a punk before calling all of them punks. Flair promised a party next week as a tribute to Eric Bischoff. He's hosting it, and he's drinking at it, and the four in the ring are not invited. AJ and Anderson sell broken up.
* Backstage, Christopher Daniels and Kazarian held a piece of paper that contains the dirt they have on Styles.
(2) Kurt Angle defeated AJ Styles. Christopher Daniels and Kaz came out. Daniels had a piece of paper and encouraged Kurt to get AJ, but Kurt seemed annoyed and surprised they came out. Daniels hopped up on the apron and distracted the referee. AJ then grabbed the paper as Angle rolled him up for the win. After the match, Angle told AJ he had nothing to do with Daniels and Kaz as AJ put the paper in his tights.
* Backstage, Joseph Park ran into Gunner. Gunner tried to take off, but park informed him that there was a lawsuit pending against him. Gunner again denied knowledge of Abyss's whereabouts and he told Park to talk to Bully Ray.
* Backstage, Hulk Hogan told Rob Van Dam he's been added to the #1 contender's match later tonight.
* All of the TNA Champions (minus ODB & Eric Young) came out for their in-ring meeting with Hulk Hogan: Tag Champs Samoa Joe and Magnus, Knockouts Champ Gail Kim, TV Champ Devon, X Division Champ Austin Aries and World Champ Bobby Roode.
After Hogan came out, he announced that change is in the air, and starting next week change is coming. Once a month, Impact will be called "Open Fight Night." Basically, a talent from outside TNA will show up to have a match. There will be three judges and Hogan himself will decide if the person gets a contract or not. On open fight night, anyone can come to the ring and make a challenge, and whoever the person challenges must come to the ring to fight. Roode is pissed. Hogan told them that any champion must be ready to fight. Gail asked who decides this. Hogan decides. Hogan said he wants to hear who the fans want to see.
Devon promised to be a fighting champ. Hogan announced that from now on, the TV Title will be defended every single week. Devon was happy with the announcement. Hogan closed the segment with a statement that on Open Fight Night, everyone fights. Roode looked dismayed.
(3) Miss Tessmacher, Tara, Mickie James and Velvet Sky defeated Gail Kim, Madison Rayne, Sarita and Rosita in a 8-woman tag match. Tessmacher rolled up Gail Kim for the win.
* ODB and Eric Young were shown sunbathing by a pool with their Knockout Tag titles. A Guy walked up and Young got jealous, so he took his pants off.
(4) TV Champion Devon defeated Gunner to retain the TV Title. Devon hit a spinebuster to pick up the win.
* James Storm came out. He thanked everyone and said sorry to the crowd for losing at Lockdown. Storm talked about tucking his daughter into bed and having to tell her that he lost at the PPV. He said that Roode didn't beat him, but that he beat himself. Storm then cited the crowd for his inspiration, and thanked his dad up in Heaven, who was looking down on him, and he knows is dad is proud of him. Storm said maybe his luck has run out and he left.
(5) Rob Van Dam defeated Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson in a three-way match to become the new number one contender to the TNA World Title. Hardy nailed Anderson with a Swanton Bomb. RVD went for the big splash on Anderson, Hardy then went for the Twist of Fate, RVD reversed it and scored the pin.
Jericho Reveals Real Reason for WWE Return Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/19/2012 at 02:14 PM
The latest issue of WWE Magazine features an interview with Chris Jericho, who talks about his current WWE run, when he plans to leave again, his fued with CM Punk and much more.
Jericho said before CM Punk started "ripping him off", he had no intention of coming back to WWE and was happy with what he was doing. "But when I saw C.M. Punk performing all of my stuff, it inspired me to return and remind everyone just what's going on."
Regarding his rumored departure from WWE this summer, Jericho said he might leave and come back again. "I outclass everyone in the company. It'll be the end when I decide it's the end. I might leave and then come back. Listen: When you get to this level, you don't have to play by the rules anymore. When I can't compete at a top level anymore, then I won't come back."
Jericho said he would consider working a schedule similar to the Undertaker's, where he'd be presented as a "special attraction" and could come and go as he pleases.
He also said he recently changed his whole training regime and diet, but did not mention DDP Yoga specifically. "I made a lot of overall changes, lost a lot of weight. And when you're physically sharper, that makes you mentally sharper as well."
Jericho Busted Open Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/19/2012 at 08:35 AM
- Chris Jericho apparently had to get 3 staples in his head after Wednesday's RAW live event in Milan, Italy. Jericho and WWE Champion CM Punk have been working No DQ matches overseas since Jericho joined the tour. He wrote:
"Thanks to @cmpunk I now have 3 staples in the back of my head. Wait until tomorrow in Toulouse, France Punk. I will exact my revenge..."
Crimson
Interview: Discusses The Winning Streak, His Goals, More
TheBradyHicks.com
interview with Crimson Full interview available at thebradyhicks.com
On
Still Being Undefeated: Its huge. Ive been with the company 15
months now and to still have the unbeaten streak going for me, to be tested
physically and mentally by some of the top guys in TNA, theres not a greater
experience for me.
On Being a Tag Team
Guy: It was successful, as you guys could see, but Im more of a
one-man army. I like going out there and taking care of business on my own, not
having to depend on anybody else. So it ran its course and it was pretty quick
I like the tag team division, and its going to get stronger as we go, but Id
just rather be out there kicking ass on my own.
On His
Goals: It was a huge honor to win those TNA tag team championships
and it was a huge honor to defend those championships. But just like anybody
else who gets into pro wrestling, your goal is to be the World heavyweight
champion. And the faster I can get to that point, the happier I will
be.
On TNAs Youth Movement: Its time
for the younger generation to step up and start taking over, if you can say
something like that. Its huge. This companys been around for 10 years, and the
younger guys are going to have to step up, thats just the way it is Younger
guys just chomping at the bit to get out there and prove that we belong. So its
something that Im going to cherish, to get that spot. To get that main event.
To get that World heavyweight championship.
On TNA
Having Potential to be the Top Company: It definitely does. I love
where Im at. I love TNA. I love being here, being a part of this roster It
does have all the pieces in place. And about guys coming in from other
companies, if theyre coming in for the right reason to help the product grow
then Im all for it. I think its just a matter of time.
On the Influence of Hogan, Flair, Sting, etc.: It is
really cool. Those are the guys that I grew up watching. Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan,
Sting, those guys are legends. And those are guys that, when I got in
wrestling, I knew in my mind where I wanted to be. Working next to those guys .
to have them here is tremendous. Especially as a younger guy on the roster,
theyre all about helping the younger guys and passing the torch, so to speak,
and trying to get us ready for the next level. Its huge having those guys
around. Huge.
AJ
Styles Interview: Talks TNA's Youth Movement, Overtaking WWE, More
TheBradyHicks.com
interview with AJ Styles Full interview available at thebradyhicks.com
On
TNAs Youth Movement, as it Stands: Theyre WE are definitely in
a better place. If were making new stars, thats what we need to do. We gotta
build that foundation, and it starts by making new stars. You cant rely on Rob
Van Dam and Jeff Hardy and guys like that who have been around for awhile . or
even AJ Styles for that matter. You have to continue to build new stars to rely
on and to keep it fresh.
On The Development of Bobby
Roode and James Storm: I gotta tell you, when those two broke up as
a tag team I thought, Oh man, thats the worst thing that could ever happen to
tag team wrestling. Literally these guys were the best in the world as a tag
team Its crazy what has happened with them over time. I cant say that I
dont want to see this match happen because I do.
On
Being in the Locker Room with Guys Like Flair, Hogan, Sting, and
Angle: Its a great thing to have around. If you can soak up as
much information as theyre putting out. You can only get better with those guys
around you These guys have done a lot in this business. If you can soak up
some of that information. The skys the limit.
On AJs
Relationship with Flair: I soaked up so much information from Ric
Flair that I realized hes kind of a douche-bag. Neither Fortune nor myself
wanted to be around him any more. Fortune kind of imploded because of
it.
On Bobby Roode as Champion: Like it
or not, Bobby Roode is the best world heavyweight champion RIGHT NOW. The guy is
good. You cant deny that fact. He looks good. He wrestles even better than he
looks. This guy is unstoppable at this point in his career.
On TNA Overtaking WWE: Its not going to happen
overnight. We dont have the money that the other company has. We just have to
take it slow When we move to0 fast, thats how you destroy a company.
It's said that with the success of WrestleMania 28 coming out this past week,
the chances of a rematch between John Cena and
The Rock at WrestleMania 29 have increased. As of this week, WrestleMania 29 is
scheduled to be headlined by The Rock vs. either Cena or Brock Lesnar.
Several factors will play into that decision, mainly where Lesnar stands
at the end of this year, if he's better for business over Cena and more. WWE
officials are reportedly unsure of Lesnar's future and how hot he
will be come next January. While they originally wanted to have the WrestleMania
29 main event announced by now, word now is that it won't be decided on until around November of this year.
(1) Percy Watson defeated Johnny Curtis. Percy got the win with a flapjack. After the match, William Regal grabbed a mic and praised Watson. Regal announced Maxine vs. Kaitlyn up next.

* Backstage promo with Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins. They came out to the ring and said they didn't kidnap Matt Striker. Striker then came out and went to hit them with his cane but Regal interrupted. Regal announced Reks vs. Hawkins with Striker as referee. The loser will get fired.
(3) Tyler Reks defeated Curt Hawkins with a roll-up. Striker hits Hawkins with the cane. Regal also fired Reks. Reks goes nuts as NXT goes off the air.

- WWE's website has a new article up looking at the popularity of Daniel Bryan's "YES!" chants. They re-posted Steve Austin's Twitter comments from a few weeks back where he endorsed the chants. Bryan said about Austin's comments:
"I think [Austin] was probably just placating fans. Theres a percentage of the WWE Universe that likes things theyre not supposed to like, and theyre responsible for the 'YES!' chants. When I first started doing it, the only thing I thought was that this is going to annoy the hell out of people."
Former WWE talent Shane "Hurricane" Helms is not a fan of
WWE's "CM Drunk" storyline. He wrote during Monday's Raw SuperShow where Chris
Jericho claimed CM Punk was spotted drinking alcohol before defending his title against Mark Henry: "I like both
Punk and Jericho but I could care less about this "straight edge vs
alcoholic" angle. Just wrestle."
Helms also critiqued a WWE star's
bumping ability: "Otunga ... geez. You're on TV with the biggest wrestling company in the world. Please learn
how to bump bro."
TNA Star Kurt Angle revealed on Twitter during Tuesday's Impact Wrestling taping
that he is scheduled to face AJ Styles at the next TNA PPV, Sacrifice, in May.
It will be a re-match from this week's Impact Wrestling episode. Angle also said
he "banged up" his already-injured knee during the match Styles at the TV

great time I had. I love the Tna family and will miss everyone but will be

As seen on Brock Lesnar's new WWE ring gear, Lesnar is being allowed to wear
clothing that has his sponsors on them. Lesnar's team must have negotiated a
very unique deal as he is the first
person in WWE history to be under WWE contract and have that right.
Amateur
Wrestler Challenges Kurt Angle For Withdrawal From Olympic Trials
Amateur wrestler Devon Nicholson who just
happens to wrestle professionally as "Hannibal" in the Canadian independent
circuit issued the following press release today:
"I am
a former National Freestyle Wrestling Champion, National Team Trial Winner,
Canadian Open Winner in Grappling and am currently the alternate for Canada in
Greco Roman Wrestling. I have defeated all of the wrestlers how places in the
top 4 in the Canadian CIS University Championships in 2011 (I am not in
University so I could not compete in those.)
I was also a pro wrestler
for 10 years. 1996 US Olympic Champion Kurt Angle has recently made a mockery
out of amateur wrestling. He went on TV to news sources all over the world
saying he was back in training and would be competing in the US Olympic trials
and would at least make an alternate. This took press away from the US amateur
athletes who really are competing in the trials and taking it serious. After a
year build up last week Angle said he was pulling out due to a partially torn
MCL that wont need surgery yet he still wrestled professionally last night in a
big match on TNA Wrestlings Lockdown PPV. Kurt Angle has greatly offended
me. He has made a mockery of amateur wrestling and has made pro wrestlers look
like wimps I am sick of this guy running his mouth, not taking amateur wrestling
seriously and making pro wrestlers look like they have it easy. I am challenging
him to a real match. I have faced Canadian Olympic Champion Daniel Igali in my
last year of high school and held my own but I wanst angry at him and I am also
much more technical now so he will not have it easy if hes man enough to agree.
After supposedly training for a year he should be willing to accept one
match.
On a side note I fully tore my MCL at a tournament in early
November but still kept training and competing. I will not get surgery until I
100% know I wont be going to the London games as an alternate. It is not a
totally debilitating. Angle had an extremely serious next injury before the
Atlanta games but still pulled though. That was highly inspirational. Now hes
showing that he doesnt have hart or respect anymore."
WWE Hall of
Famer "Stone Cold" Steve
Austin revealed to Zoo
Magazine while promoting his DVD release of "Recoil" that he may have
another WWE match or two left in him. Here is what he had to say.
"If
the right situation, the right opponent and the right
circumstances came up for the WWE, then it would certainly be something worth
considering. Could I have another match or two? Yeah. Physically I am in really good shape
right now. People seem to think I am half-dead!... In my movies, I do some
pretty hellacious fight scenes that, maybe, a normal person couldnt do. So my
physicality is fine, my neck is fine after having it
all fused-up. I am not pitching for another match but if it was a win-win
situation for everybody, then absolutely, I would consider it."
Event: WWE Monday Night RAW Airdate: Monday, April 16th, 2012 (USA Network) Location: The O2 Arena in London, England
Quick results: CM Punk def. Mark Henry Santino Marella def. David Otunga Brodus Clay def. Dolph Ziggler by DQ Big Show & The Great Khali def. Primo & Epico Lord Tensai def. John Cena
WWE Champion CM Punk def. Mark Henry In their third meeting in as many weeks, WWE Champion CM Punk put his title on the line against Mark Henry in London in a No Count-Out, No Disqualification Match. With both Superstars taking full advantage of the match stipulation, they went to war.
At one point, Punk acquired a steel chair and blasted Henry with a thunderous shot to the mid section. But when The Straight Edge Superstar went for another shot, Henry countered with a big boot to the gut and smashed him with the chair. As their battle waged on, the champion avoided a Worlds Strongest Slam with a kick to the head then a running high knee. But when Henry battled back and charged at Punk in the corner, he ran headfirst into a steel chair when Punk ducked out of the way. With The Worlds Strongest Man down, Punk leaped from the top rope and bashed Henry with steel chair to retain his WWE Championship.
Chris Jericho accused WWE Champion CM Punk of drinking in a London pub After CM Punks successful title defense against Mark Henry, Chris Jericho revealed the two would square off at Extreme Rules in a Chicago Street Fight. Jericho then accused Punk of drinking earlier in the day at a London pub. Punk vehemently denied Jerichos claim and urged Jericho to come to ring and smell his breath. After calling Punks straight edge lifestyle a façade, Jericho declared that Punk is gong to lose his WWE Championship at Extreme Rules. Before Punk could respond, Jericho vanished from the arena screen.
United States Champion Santino Marella def. David Otunga In a fight between former WrestleMania tag team captains, Santinos United States Championship was up for grabs. Early in the bout, it looked like Otunga was about to pin Santino and capture the title, but Santino cleverly put his leg on the ropes to break the hold. Later, following the quick thinking move, Santino relied on his trusty Cobra to down Otunga and preserve his title.
Brock Lesnar revealed why hes back in WWE In an exclusive interview with WWE, Brock Lesnar recalled the successes hes enjoy in high school and college athletics, all the way through WWE and UFC. The three-time and youngest WWE Champion ever said hes back in WWE because beating people up makes him happy. Hell have his chance when he squares off with John Cena at Extreme Rules in a no-disqualification, no count-out Extreme Rules Match.
John Laurinaitis announced a mystery opponent for John Cena Concerned that his WrestleMania loss could have been the end of his era, John Cena emphatically declared that he will fight Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules and overcome any fear he has of him. To give everyone a taste of what is to come in what he calls the People Power era, Raw and Smackdown General Manager John Laurinaitis announced John Cena would face a mystery opponent in an Extreme Rules Match on Raw Supershow. The GM also revealed there will be an Extreme Rules contract signing between John Cena and Brock Lesnar during next Mondays special three-hour Raw SuperShow starting at 8/7 CT on USA Network.
Brodus Clay def. Dolph Ziggler by Disqualification Brodus Clay made a grand entrance by dancing his way to the ring with the Funkettes. Vickie Guerrro then heralded in Dolph Ziggler. When Jack Swagger interfered in the bout, it ended in an immediate disqualification. After the chaotic ending, Vickie found herself standing sandwiched between Clay and one of the Funkettes. Clearly uncomfortable with her position, she high-tailed it out of the ring. That was the perfect queue for Clay and the Brodus and the Funkettes to engage in a celebratory dance.
IC Champ Big Show & The Great Khali def. WWE Tag Team Champions Primo & Epico With AW watching from the entrance ramp, The Great Khali started by battling Epico. After Epico took a big boot to the face, Rosa and the tag team champions tried to flee the scene, perhaps knowing that was only the start of more suffering. But Big Show had other plans and tossed both tag team champions back into the ring for a pair of Khali Chops. A Big Show chokeslam and Punjabi Plunge finished off both champions for a double cover.
Lord Tensai def. John Cena in an Extreme Rules Match With anticipation about who John Cena would face in the Extreme Rules Match, John Laurinaitis revealed it would be one of WWEs most destructive forces Lord Tensai. Looking on from ringside, Laurinaitis and David Otunga watched Cena battle the dangerous 350-pounder.
As the two fought tooth-and-nail, Cena countered one of Tensais moves and tossed him over his back and onto the arena floor in an impressive show of strength. With Tensai feeling the effects of being slammed, Cena used the steel ring steeps to bashTensai in the head. Then, Mr. Sakamoto inserted himself into the action and attacked Cena. Following up, Otunga tossed Cena back into ring.
Engaged in back and forth show of brute strength, it looked like Tensai finally had Cena where he wanted when he dropped his crushing weight onto him but Cena kept fighting. When Cena had the STF locked in on Tensai, Otunga charged to be met with Attitude Adjustment. Then in a stunning ending, Tensaid sprayed Cena in the eyes with a stinging, green mist then delivered a massive powerbomb to preserve his undefeated streak.
