Lita vs. Mickie James for the Women's Championship
November 26, 2006
At Survivor Series, Lita will put the Womens Championship on the line against the Diva she defeated to claim the gold, Mickie James.
Back in August, Lita defeated Mickie to win the Womens Championship on RAW. She later lost the gold to Trish Stratus at Unforgiven, but Trishs retirement left the championship vacant. A tournament was set up, and Mickie and Lita were the final two Divas left standing. They went head-to-head in the finals at Cyber Sunday, where Lita won a Divas Lumberjack Match to become Womens Champion for the fourth time.
The night after Cyber Sunday, Lita offered Mickie a rematch; however, with acting General Manager Eric Bischoffs blessing, the challenger was forced to have one arm tied behind her back. This left her easy prey for Lita, who defeated Mickie for the second consecutive night to retain the title.
However, Mickie got a measure of revenge on Nov. 13 in Manchester, England. She met Lita in a non-title match, but this time Mickie's legs were chained together.
Somehow, she was able to overcome this handicap, and thanks to a little help from DX, Mickie pinned Lita.
Now, at Survivor Series, Mickie will have a fairer opportunity to become a two-time Womens Champion. Will the third challenge be the charm, or will Philadelphia see Lita improve to 4-0 against her challenger with the gold on the line?
Batista vs. World Heavyweight Champion King Booker
November 26, 2006
In January of this year, Batista reluctantly surrendered the World Heavyweight Championship due to injury. At the time, an emotional Animal made it clear that recapturing the gold would be his first and only goal following his return to the ring. Since that return, he has received a handful of opportunities to take back the championship, but each time, controversial circumstances prevented him from achieving his goal.
On the November 3 edition of SmackDown, Batista made a deal with General Manager Theodore Long: protect King Booker in the days leading up to Cyber Sunday, and Long would owe him one. Batista lived up to his promise, and has asked the General Manager to pay up and grant him an opportunity to face King Booker for the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series. Long obliged, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated championship matches in recent Survivor Series history.
Since capturing the coveted gold at The Great American Bash, King Booker has faced a number of imposing challengers. Every time the King appears close to his demise, he seems to survive. Through controversy and questionable tactics, the World Heavyweight Champion has scratched and clawed his way to victory. At Survivor Series,he will need to once again rely on the experience that has made him one of the most decorated champions in sports-entertainment history.
At Survivor Series, King Booker and Batista will take their storied rivalry to the next level. Who will emerge with the prestigious World Heavyweight Championship? Will the Animal finally re-claim his prize? Or will King Booker survive and walk out with his ransom intact? Watch Survivor Series, live on pay-per-view to find out.
At Survivor Series, Chris Benoit will defend the United States Championship against a man he considered a good friend until recently Chavo Guerrero.
It was just this past April that Chavo and Benoit, along with Rey Mysterio, inducted the late Eddie Guerrero into the WWE Hall of Fame. But late this summer, Chavo took a turn to the evil side, costing Mysterio the World Heavyweight Championship. Chavo then began a rivalry with Mysterio, claiming Rey was making his career off being a Guerrero despite not being one. Vickie Guerrero, Eddies widow, joined Chavo in the crusade, which ended with Chavo putting Rey out of action following a brutal I Quit Match on SmackDown.
Enter Benoit. The week after Chavo defeated Rey, he and Vickie stood in the ring gloating about making Mysterio quit. The United States Champion, who had been ignored by the Guerreros earlier in the night, came looking for some answers as to why their attitudes had changed; unfortunately for him, Benoit was once again ignored.
The following week, Rey made one last appearance on SmackDown before his knee surgery. Once again, Chavo and Vickie came out to taunt Rey, and Chavo viciously attacked Mysterios injured knee. Benoit rushed to Reys aid, chasing off the opportunistic Guerreros and preventing too much further damage.
All Benoit wants is an answer; at Survivor Series, he will have the chance to beat it out of Chavo. Will the Rabid Wolverine get what he wants from the third-generation Superstar, or will another Guerreros name be etched into United States Championship history?
Check back tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET for the announcement of another Survivor Series match.
This Wednesday in San Diego, SmackDown Superstar Rey Mysterio underwent an intense surgical procedure to repair his ACL in his left leg. WWE.com spoke to Mysterios surgeon Dr. David Chao who said the surgery was a success.
[Rey had] a fair amount of damage in his knee because of all his previous injuries, explained Chao. There was cartilage damage and meniscus damage that we smoothed and cleaned but there were no complications. Its quite a feat that he was still wrestling especially being as acrobatic as he is.
According to Mysterios surgeon, the former World Champions demeanor was positive heading into the procedure and even higher in spirits heading out. Chao said the surgery lasted about an hour-and-a-half, which was remarkably shorter than expected.
At this point, were anticipating that Rey will certainly be able to return to [WWE], Chao stated.
Chaos immediate prognosis is that Mysterio will make it back to the ring in four to six months, if not sooner. He also spoke to whether he believed the master of the 619 would ever be the swift high-flyer ever again.
WWE Legends vs. The Spirit Squad November 26, 2006
Former World Tag Team Champions the Spirit Squad have hade their problems with the legendary Nature Boy Ric Flair as of late. At Survivor Series, theyll have a heaping helping of Legend trouble, as Squad members Johnny, Kenny, Mikey and Nicky will face Flair, Dusty Rhodes and WWE Hall of Famers Rowdy Roddy Piper and Sgt. Slaughter in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match.
Problems began when each member of the Squad tried to defeat Flair in singles action; three were unsuccessful before Kenny finally achieved the goal. However, a match was made pitting Flair and a legendary partner of the WWE fans choosing against the Squad for the World Tag Team Titles at Cyber Sunday. The options were Piper, Slaughter and Rhodes; WWE fans chose Piper, and he and the Nature Boy defeated Kenny and Mikey to claim the gold.
Despite not being chosen, Slaughter and Rhodes were firmly in Flair & Pipers corner, helping them dispatch the Squad following the match. But at Survivor Series, all four will get the chance to battle the cheerleading quintet.
The Squads fifth member, Mitch, will be lurking at ringside as always; however, the Legends team will have another one in their corner, as Flairs best friend and former Four Horsemen teammate Arn Anderson will be at ringside with them. Will experience triumph over youth once more, or will the Squad finally get it back on track against four of the all-time greats?
Check back tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET for the announcement of another Survivor Series match.
Ik kijk er echt naar uit dit jaar zoveel goed wedstrijden.
RAW, SmackDown and ECW will collide in the second inter-promotional Traditional Survivor Series Elimination match of the annual November spectacular. Team Cena, led by the WWE Champion will square off with Team Big Show, led by the ECW Champion in a match combining some of sports-entertainments hottest rivalries.
John Cena and Big Show have unfinished business dating back to the Champion of Champions match at Cyber Sunday. Both men were unsuccessful on that night, falling short to King Booker. The distaste between the two has only grown since. At Survivor Series, the two dominant Champions will look to add another chapter to their budding rivalry.
Cenas team will include ECWs Rob Van Dam and Sabu and SmackDown powerhouses Lashley and Kane. Van Dam and Sabu have an extensive history as a team, as well as extensive rivalries with Big Show. Both will continue to grow on the road to the Extreme Elimination Chamber at December to Dismember. Survivor Series will provide another opportunity for them to soften up the ECW Champion before the gruesome holiday pay-per-view.
The extreme giant will anchor a team that includes RAWs Samoan Bulldozer Umaga, SmackDowns Finlay and Montel Vontavious Porter and ECWs wrecking ball Test.
Umaga and Montel Vontavious Porter have been engaged in separate but equally intense rivalries with the Big Red Machine Kane. Umaga has had Kanes number so far, scoring consecutive victories including decisive wins in a Loser Leaves RAW match in September, and a recent run-in at Cyber Sunday. Kane has been taking out his frustrations at his new home on SmackDown, where he has repeatedly battered the cocky M.V.P. At Survivor Series, the rivalries will continue.
Finlay and Lashley will collide again at Survivor Series. The hatred between the angry Irishman and the hard hitting Lashley has spanned the better part of this calendar year, with countless battles unfolding at SmackDown arenas all over the world.
Check back tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET for the announcement of another Survivor Series match.
November 7, 2006 Former World Champion Rey Mysterio will undergo extensive surgery on Wednesday to repair the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and torn patella tendon in his left knee. Competing on this injury for months, the final straw for Mysterios knee came at the hands of a steel chair-wielding Chavo Guerrero several weeks ago on SmackDown.
According to WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios, Mysterio is expected to be out of action for approximately six to eight months following his procedure and will need at least three months of intense physical therapy. Despite the damage done to Reys knee, Rios was still positive in his prognosis of Mysterios full recovery.
Admittedly uneasy about the three to six hours of surgery he will undergo, Mysterio explained the nature of his injury to WWE.com.
Im a little worried, explained the SmackDown Superstar, I just wish this didnt happen. An ACL tear is probably one of the worst injuries within all of sports and sports-entertainment. He continued, Right now, my knee has no stability and Im going to go through the worst pain in the world. I wouldnt even wish this on my worst enemy.
Despite the pain he feels now and the pain he anticipates experiencing after surgery, Mysterio told WWE.com that he intends on accelerating his rehabilitation and getting back to the ring.
Im going to work so hard on my rehab, Mysterio said, getting my leg back to normal, and regaining my strength and building up my muscle. I want [my rehab] to go less than what doctor says. Im going to push real hard to come back as early as possible.
Im not leaving, Mysterio promised the WWE fans. Ill be back.
