    Update on Russo

Here is the latest update on the Vince Russo-TNA deal.

Citaat:As of right now, Dave Lagana is not replacing Vince Russo on the TNA creative team. As noted earlier, Lagana is backstage at tonight's Against All Odds PPV and working in an agent/producer role.

Some within TNA believe Vince Russo is gone as he is not backstage tonight. Nobody seems to know for sure what his status is and nobody was told anything in production meetings today.

The TNA creative team has had Vince Russo and Matt Conway writing most of the scripts for iMPACT!. Bruce Prichard would then approve those scripts with feedback from Eric Bischoff.

Here are some new details on the TNA creative team shake-up:

    * Dave Lagana was working on helping with pre-taped segments only at the TNA PPV. It doesn't appear as if he has been promoted or is replacing Vince Russo yet.

    * Russo was not at the show and it does appear as if changes to the creative team are in the works. No official announcement on anything has been made to the wrestlers or staff.

    * It appears as if the lackluster ratings for the recent iMPACT! shows in London, England may have been the final straw to cause changes.

    * Eric Bischoff would have been part of the decision to get Vince Russo out of power within the TNA creative team. The feeling backstage right now is that Russo is out and that he won't be retained in any capacity with TNA.

    * Russo's exit would likely result in Bischoff having more power. Bischoff has consistently disagreed with Russo on TNA's booking and storylines.

    * As of now, Bruce Prichard is still head of TNA's creative team. Wherever Dave Lagana ends up, it'll be below Prichard and Bischoff.

    * At this point, it seems as if Lagana's role won't really be expanding. He has downplayed his role, another sign that he hasn't been promoted.

    Vince russo fired?
In an update on earlier reports, Vince Russo is out as TNA head writer. The move happened several days ago. As of right now, Dave Lagana will be taking his place. Lagana is at the show tonight but is only working as a producer as this point, not a creative head. He had been working for TNA's Ring Ka King promotion.

Vince Russo is not backstage tonight.

Lagana tweeted the following earlier today: "And we are off and running... The calm before the storm."

    Uitslagen Against all Odds

Results & Images From The Against All Odds Pay-Per-View / Replay Info
    Quick Results from the Pay-Per-View:

#1 Contender’s Match for X Title:  Ion Def. Sorensen via Countout
World Television Championship: Robbie E Def. Shannon Moore via pinfall
Knockouts Championship:  Gail Kim Def. Tara via pinfall
Tag Team Championship:  Samoa Joe & Magnus Def. Matt Morgan & Crimson via pinfall
X-Division Title:  Austin Aries Def. Alex Shelley via submission
Challenge Match: Kazarian Def. AJ Styles via pinfall
Gunner Def. Garett Bischoff via pinfall
Heavyweight Title Match:  Bobby Roode Def. Jeff Hardy James Storm & Bully Ray via pinfall

Results from the Against All Odds Pay-Per-View

    #1 Contender’s Match for X-Division Championship:
Sorensen gave an impressive showing for this match against Ion.    Both competitors pulled out the stops for the chance to wrestle for the X Division Title.  Early on Sorensen pulled an intense looking Hurricanrana on Ion.  However, after a brutal high risk move from the top rope from Ion, he took out Sorensen with a knee to the head prompting medical personnel to rush to the scene. This made Zema Ion the winner of the match by count out and the new number one contender for the X Division Title.

    World Television Championship:
Robbie E made an impromptu appearance creating a special Robbie E Invitational open challenge to get a shot at the Television Championship.  After some waiting Shannon Moore came out to take on the TV Champion.  After some back and forth Robbie E attempted to leave to get the count out but Shannon Moore wouldn’t let that happen.  Robbie E managed to maintain control of the match and after throwingMoore into the guardrail the Jersey side of Robbie E came out to do everything he can to breakdown Moore and retain the championship.   Moore managed to get back into the match with some impressive high risk moves, however with some outside help from Robbie T in the form of a massive punch that wasn’t seen by the ref, Robbie E was able to get the pin and retain the TV Title.

    Knockouts Championship:
Gail came into this match with her tag team partner Madison Rayne at ringside who as usual made sure the entire arena knew she was there.   Gail Kim managed to dominate throughout the entire first part of the match all while arguing with her tag partner throughout, however part of the way through Rayne had enough and left.   Tara managed to finally get ahead in the match and almost picked up the pin after a top rope moonsault that seemed to further damage her injured knee.  Gail Kim took advantage of this and worked on Tara’s injured knee, which led to her picking up the pinfall to retain the Knockouts Championship

    Tag Team Championship
This championship match started strong with Joe and Morgan and setting the pace for the rest of the match.  Morgan and Crimson maintained dominance of the first part of the match but after some outside interference, Joe and Magnus managed to pull things in their favor.  Joe and Magnus seemed to dictate the speed of the match making frequent tags and keeping things going.  Morgan managed to turn things from the favor of the challengers’, however after an accidental spear from Crimson on his own partner Joe and Magnus came out victorious with a combo that allowed Magnus to get the pin on Morgan to become new World Tag Team Champions.

    X-Division Championship:
Austin Aries started things off with a little bit of showboating, which ended up being a bad idea as Shelley took advantage of Aries being and capitalized by wearing down Austin Aries.  However it was short lived as Shelley momentarily lost track of his opponent, which led to Aries taking out Shelly from behind.   After some brutal back and forth it seemed that Shelley had the championship within his grasp however due to Aries’ amazing ring awareness he was able to grab the rope to stop the count.   Following what was a very exciting match, with many near pinfalls that prompted the crowd to chant “this is awesome!” on numerous occasions, Aries picked up the win via a submission using his “last chancery” submission move.

    Challenge Match:
The start of this match seemed to release a lot of frustration from AJ Styles who ripped off the Christopher Daniels T shirt Kazarian was wearing (available at ShopTNA.com).   Styles’ maintained dominance for the most part throughout the first part of the match while also keeping an eye on Daniels.   Christopher Daniels continued his control of Kazarian at ringside.   Kazarian managed to gain the upper hand in the match and gradually tear down Styles while getting guidance from Daniels, who was prompting him to tear down Styles.  The match went on with the two competitors tearing each other down little by little.  What seemed to be a springboard to finish taking out Kazarian, Styles instead goes back and takes out Danials with an incredible moonsault off the top rope onto Daniels outside of the ring.  However, this was to Styles’ own detriment as Kazarian was able to pull himself together and take out Styles for the pinfall to get the win.

Gunner with Eric Bischoff vs. Garett Bischoff with Hulk Hogan:
After Gunner starts out toying with Garett, Garett retaliated with a vengeance pulling out some quick moves that put Gunner back on his feet.  With a cheap shot from Eric Bischoff on his own son, Hogan got involved and took out Eric Bischoff.  After witnessing Gunner relentlessly beat on Garett, Hogan almost threw in the towel for Garett but was stopped by Garett.  Though he is a rookie in this game Garett put forth a strong showing, however dispite his efforts Gunner was able to workover Garett and pick up the pinfall after a DDT.

    World Heavyweight Championship:
With Sting as the special enforcer, The Heavyweight Title match started with Ray leaving the ring and looking onward to wait for what one would assume to be an opportunity to take advantage of.  Meanwhile the other three competitors are tearing each other down in the ring with Hardy and Storm working together to tear down Roode when they can.  Finally, Ray saw the opportunity to take out Hardy and Storm with a clothesline but was not able to translate it into a pinfall on Roode.  After Storm and Roode being taken out Ray went to work on Hardy.  Finally Roode and Storm made it back into the match where these two regained the advantage through working together, but with their back on Ray he was able to take all three out, though he could not get a pin out of it.  After a couple instances of the Referee missing what would have turned out to be obvious pins because he was injured, the ref finally came too and Storm almost became World Champ but was cut short by Ray pulling out the ref.  In the end after Roode attempted to take out Hardy with the belt, Sting stoped him but Roode spit in his face causing Sting to take a swing at  Roode but instead hitting Hardy.  Roode goes for the pin on Hardy, which must be enforced by Sting due to the Ref being taken out, and as a result Roode gets the three count on Hardy to retain the World Heavyweight Title.

SmackDown results: Bryan’s disqualification victory incites a brawl between The Viper and Big Show.
By: Michael Burdick February 10, 2012
    Tags: SmackDown: February 10, 2012

TULSA, Okla. - Nine days before WWE Elimination Chamber, World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan escaped Randy Orton's wrath by poking the proverbial stick at Big Show. This sparked an explosive brawl that drove rising pay-per-view tensions sky-high.

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan def. Randy Orton by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS)
With Big Show joining the SmackDown announce team, Randy Orton battled Daniel Bryan for the first-time-ever in singles competition.

Despite his attempts to wiggle out of the main event showdown on two separate instances during SmackDown (WATCH), Bryan’s match with WWE’s Apex Predator quickly became an intense struggle for supremacy between two incredible competitors. And in the crucial final moments of their fierce battle, Orton prepared to hit the RKO on his prey. But, the slippery champion managed to escape the ring at the last second.

Grabbing his title, Bryan suddenly lunged at Big Show, inciting The World’s Largest Athlete to retaliate and hurl his adversary back into the ring. There, Orton did hit the RKO, but it was too late. By putting his hands on the champion, Show had gotten him disqualified. Frustrated over the loss, the serpentine Superstar began shoving the giant, igniting a vicious brawl that continued as SmackDown came to a close.

However, WWE.com cameras continued recording after SmackDown’s main event went off the air. To view exclusive footage of the chaotic aftermath that followed, check back with WWE.com tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. ET.

Days after learning he would remain Raw’s Interim General Manager, John Laurinaitis spoke to the SmackDown announce team live from Abu Dhabi (WATCH)

Ted DiBiase def. Hunico (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Medically cleared after his already broken wrist was further injured by Hunico and Camacho's vicious attack two weeks ago, Ted DiBiase returned to take on the former. Hunico wasted no time going after his gutsy foe’s damaged appendage. However, as he continued to work the arm, the resourceful DiBiase rolled him up for the quick pinfall.
Michael Cole's interview with AJ turns into a war of words (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Still wearing her neck brace from the accidental collision with Big Show last month, AJ came to the ring to be interviewed by Michael Cole. Stating that she has never blamed the giant for her injury, AJ tore into the outspoken ring announcer for never believing in her boyfriend Daniel Bryan, as well as for insulting both of them and the entire Divas division. Accusing him of “stirring up trouble,” the courageous Diva referred to her interviewer as a “bias, obnoxious jerk.”

A furious Cole fired back, lashing back by repeating speculation he had supposedly heard from others: that "Bryan had set her up to get injured," that the champion "had no guts" and that AJ herself "had no self-respect."

Bryan came to the ring and a tirade by the self-proclaimed “role model” ensued. The vegan Superstar claimed that, unlike the Super Bowl-watching WWE Universe, he actually cared about rycycling, the environment and AJ. He then said he was leaving to take his girlfriend home in a Prius. But, before he could, General Manager Theodore Long stopped him in his tracks, informing him that if he did take-off – thereby not facing Randy Orton – he would lose his World Title.
Sheamus & Big Show def. Wade Barrett & Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In an epic tag team showdown, Big Show teamed with the 2012 Royal Rumble Match winner Sheamus to battle his fellow SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match competitors Cody Rhodes & Wade Barrett. After The World's Largest Athlete leveled Rhodes with a gigantic spear, The Great White overcame Barrett with the Brogue Kick. Will this momentum increase the chances of Big Show walking out of the Chamber the World Heavyweight Champion?

While talking to Tyson Kidd, Natalya passed gas, then blamed it on the last graduate of the famed Hart family dungeon (WATCH)

SmackDown looked back at how Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s upbringing prepared him for the upcoming WrestleMania main event against John Cena (WATCH)
Divas Champion Beth Phoenix def. Alicia Fox (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In spite of tremendous agility by Alicia Fox, the dominant Glamazon reigned supreme yet again, soundly defeating A-Fox with the earth-shattering Glam Slam.

When The Fabulous Firebird opted to continue her assault on Fox after the bell, "The Warrior Princess" Tamina emerged. Without either Diva delivering a single blow, the intense stare down that ensured spoke volumes, until the smiling Divas Champion opted to take her leave.

The Great Khali def. Jinder Mahal (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Before taking on The Great Khali, Jinder Mahal proclaimed to the WWE Universe that when he beat his gigantic brother-in-law, he would demand to replace him in the SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match on Feb. 19. But, it was not to be. In his first match on SmackDown in four months, The Punjabi Nightmare triumphed over Mahal with the Punjabi Plunge.
SmackDown heats up as Sheamus shares the ring with three combatants of the SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match (PHOTOS)
Not knowing who the respective World Champions will be after WWE Elimination Chamber, Sheamus reiterated his point from one week ago that he would not reveal which title he will seek at WrestleMania until after the upcoming pay-per-view.

Wade Barrett interrupted, insisting that Sheamus challenge the WWE Champion – claiming that The Barrett Barrage could and would beat him after he triumphed in the Chamber and became the new World Heavyweight Champion. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes also came forth, warning he will be walking into WrestleMania the first-ever dual World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion.

Big Show emerged, excited about the prospect of leaving the Chamber victorious and then facing The Great White on The Grandest Stage of Them All. When Barrett and Rhodes attempted to mock the giant as a "WrestleMania punch line," Big Show and The Celtic Warrior knocked both of them out of the ring. Later, a main event match between Big Show & Sheamus vs. Barrett & Rhodes was set by SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long.

Del Rio says he hates The Miz in real life

Del Rio says he hates The Miz in real life
Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 02/10/2012 at 05:49 PM

Thanks to Christopher Solis and prowrestling.net for the following Alberto Del Rio interview highlights from 95.7 The Game in San Francisco...

    - Del Rio was asked which wrestlers don't get along or that he doesn't like. "The Miz," Del Rio said. "I hate The Miz. This is not part of the show. I really dislike like that guy. I've tried to punch him in the face several times, not in the ring, I mean outside the ring. He's like a little girl. He's always running away from me..."

    - When the hosts joked that he and Miz are probably too similar, Del Rio disagreed. "There's a big difference between The Miz and I," Del Rio said. "I'm a real athlete. He's just a loud, stupid little kid. He's one of those guys who was probably bullied when he was in school and that's the reason now that he's so loud and he wants to get attention from everybody."

Matt Hardy To Undergo Back Surgery

Matt Hardy To Undergo Back Surgery

Posted by Steve Carrier on 02/09/2012 at 06:11 PM

Matt Hardy appeared on Busted Open, which airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on Sirius 92 and XM 208 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Highlights from the interview are as follows:

His future in wrestling: "I think there is a future for me in wrestling in some capacity. I have such a new outlook on life after going through such a crazy period, I’ve kind of had a reprieve for a while. At some point I had to face everything and change my life, and I have, and I feel good about where I’m at right now. Wrestling is in me, its in my blood and I think I’ll always be in wrestling in some shape or form. Basically I chalk it up to this, I kind of let God lead me where I’m going to go. After I have back surgery, we’ll see where I stand physically and from that point on I’ll kind of see where the wave takes me."

If he has used social media in the right way: "There are times when I have, and there are times I’ve used it in the wrong way as well. I feel like I was one of the original guys to take social networking and promoted themselves. Under WWE and I know from being around there a long time, stemming from Vince McMahon and going all the way down, they’ve always wanted control of everything they have, and it’s hard to do that with Twitter or YouTube cause it’s something that you have to go hand in hand with and work with the company. But now they realize its huge deals now and there is money to be made and there is promotion that comes from it, so it’s great that they have embraced it now. But as far as I go there has been a lot of people who tie me in as “The Internet Guy” or “the social media guy” and that’s cool because I do dig that stuff.

Whether he should take a break from social media: "I did for a while but now that I’m here and I’m me, I like getting messages out. There is a lot of people just from Twitter that say “because of this, you’ve been through this and overcame it and you’re doing better and you’re really inspiring me.” There is people out there that I know I can help and touch. That’s one of my main reasons for ever wanting to get into wrestling because I can inspire and help other people. Just being able to do that is important to me. I dig communicating with people and I try to respond to as many fans as I can when I can. It’s just a part of my lifestyle and it’s something I enjoy and I’m really into doing things I enjoy and that is healthy for me."

The Undertaker’s streak: "To me I don’t think the streak should ever end. I don’t think anyone is going to become a bigger star because they beat the Undertaker. I mean they would become a bigger star but I don’t think its worth sacrificing the streak. I think the streak is as big of an attraction at Wrestlemania as the world title match is. To me when you think of someone as 20-0, that’s almost more important than the world title.

"It almost overshadows everything else. People buy Wrestlemania to see if the streak is going to end. People also buy Wrestlemania to see the Undertaker continue the streak. So to me I don’t think it should end, especially because he is getting towards the end of his career. I have never had more respect for someone in the wrestling business than him. If they were going to try to do it, it would have to be someone that is already over almost on the main event level, almost a new guy that has five, seven, or ten years left in him and I don’t see anyone like that right now."

The rigors of a full time schedule: "The schedule is very brutal and very tough and you’re obviously beating up and destroying your body. As far as what other people do, it’s not my business to put anyone else’s business out there. But it is a tough gig. The one thing I would say is what I would love to see change in the wrestling business is to just have an off season, because I think guys need time off to heal. I think that would really help slow down the injury process, because once your hurt if you’re on a WWE schedule the only time you get off is if you have surgery.

"Not only do they want you to work, but the mentality is if you can work, you do work. I think that’s stuck in the old ages. I think they have to get a point where guys are given time off or are forced to take time off. I know that it’s hard because there is not a lot of star power out there right now and they need everyone they can. It’s just hard on your body and it’s a physically demanding business. When you get into it you know that so it’s a tough gig.

Welcome to the WWE Superstars Report for February 9th 2012. Today on WWE Superstars 2/9/12, the United States Champion Jack Swagger takes on Santion Marella. Time to review all of the highlights of WWE Superstars from WWE Superstars 2/9/12.

    WWE Superstars 2/9/12

    Justin Gabriel pinned Heath Slater

Heath Slater falls short at making it three in a row, following up recent wins over Trent Barreta and Derrick Bateman over on WWE NXT. He kept avoiding the 450 Splash, hitting a top rope power slam at one time. In the end, Justin Gabriel hit the breath taking 450 Splash for the pin and the win against Heath Slater to kick things off this week on WWE Superstars 2/9/12.

Santino Marella against Jack Swagger, locked and loaded for WWE Superstars 2/9/12.

Best of RAW and Smackdown 2011 on DVD.

    Yoshi Tatsu defeated Johnny Curtis

The announcers brief us about the situation involving Johnny Curtis, Derrick Bateman, and Maxine for the members of the WWE Universe(like about 98 percent of them), who haven’t been watching NXT. Curtis is all creepy, beating on Yoshi and mocking him, doing the crane. Yoshi Tatsu gets the win with a huge Buzzsaw kick to the head. A fun little romp between these two men on Superstars.

More with the Undertaker and Triple H on the WWE RAW Supershow on February 13th 2012.

    Don’t be a bully, be a star.

WWE Tag Team Champions Epico and Primo defeated Michael McGillicutty and JTG

Quite the odd tag team match. McGillicutty is beaten up but the tag is made. JTG is a house of fire, pants being on backwards and all but Primo sneaks in with the Back Stabber to score the victory. Epico and Primo score another win as the WWE Tag Team Champions move up the rankings.

John Cena vs. the Rock at WWE Wrestlemania 28. Get the merchandise at WWEShop.com.

    Elimination Chamber video package.

Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton on WWE Smackdown this week.

    Jack Swagger defeated Santino Marella

Vickie Guerrero is at ringside for our listening pleasure. Swagger batters Santino, Santino makes the comeback, preparing the Cobra but after a time, Swagger applies the Ankle Lock for the submission.

Samoa Joe Interview: Says Getting Out Of The Impact Zone Is Of 'Dire Importance'

Samoa Joe Interview: Says Getting Out Of The Impact Zone Is Of 'Dire Importance'

TNA Wrestler Samoa Joe spoke with the Wrestling Voice Radio on a number of subjects including Tag Team Wrestling, his spot in the company, the Impact Zone and more.

On the importance of bringing prestige to the Tag Team Championships keeping it relevant in these dark days for the division:
"I think it's absolutely key. Some of the greatest matches that have been ever been wrestled have been Tag Team matches, some of the greatest wrestlers have been Tag Team wrestlers, I think Tag Team wrestling, I don't know where it fell out of favor, if I'm part of the resurgence and part of making it relevant again then I'm all for that."

If his partnership with Magnus go further than their Tag Team Title opportunity this Sunday:
"I think that remains to be seen, I'd like that to continue, I think there's a nice symbiosis between myself and Magnus, I think the Championship Committee put us together because they thought we'd self destruct and kill two birds with one stone because I'm a problem. I've always been a problem and I think TNA are trying to figure out how to contain this problem and their best bet was put oil with vinegar and watch it not mix, and watch it not work out and watch them work themselves into oblivion but obviously we've totally ruined that planned and we plan to continue on and rampage on."

Does he think TNA needs to move out of the IMPACT Zone:
"I feel it is of dire importance if you want to see the product as well as the fan base continue to grow, people want to see wrestling in their hometown, they wanna go to live events and they want to be part of the experience and forgive me for using the same adjective again but its a very symbiotic experience where the crowd very much powers the performance in the ring and its almost subconscious, when you are out there in front of thousands of screaming fans it amps up your game a little bit, whether you like it or not, it puts you on point, it puts you on focus and makes you want to go out there and put something on fantastically. I think what you saw last week (TV taping from England) was very much evident of that."

His proudest moment in the company thus far:
"Winning the Heavyweight Champions, for a bevy of reasons, first and foremost because it was from an athlete like Kurt Angle, is world renowned and world class and one of the top players in the game and I look forward to replicating that experience here in the near future."
You can listen to his appearance below:
