WWE Raw SuperShow results: Laurinaitis takes a nap
By: Kevin Powers January 23, 2012

PHOENIX – With only one week until the 25th Anniversary of the Royal Rumble, calling WWE Raw SuperShow "eventful" would be a gross understatement. Chris Jericho informed the WWE Universe that "it's going to be the end of the world as you know it," while Dolph Ziggler managed to upstage WWE Champion CM Punk on two separate occasions. Also, Zack Ryder was horrifically chokeslammed through the entrance stage by Kane in a Falls Count Anywhere Match.

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. John Laurinaitis did not take place (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Moments before Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis battled WWE Champion CM Punk, he received word from WWE's Board of Directors that his job performance would be evaluated. The Board of Directors is bringing Mr. Laurinaitis' decision-making into question, especially his declaration that he would screw CM Punk at Royal Rumble. Furthermore, the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations' job performance would be evaluated personally by WWE's COO, Triple H.

David Otunga and Mr. Laurinaitis read the letter to CM Punk inside the squared circle. Mr. Laurinaitis apologized to Punk, announcing he would fairly call the WWE Title Match at Royal Rumble and that Mick Foley was officially an entrant in the Royal Rumble Match. However, the Interim Raw General Manager also informed the WWE Champion that their match would not take place and Punk would battle David Otunga. This prompted Otunga to attack The Voice of the Voiceless.

Otunga's attack was short-lived and CM Punk was soon left alone in the ring with Mr. Laurinaitis. The Executive Vice President of Talent Relations extended his hand in peace, but was reciprocated with a resounding GTS from the WWE Champion. This bold move by The Second City Savior was quickly upstaged when Dolph Ziggler snuck into the ring and took down his Royal Rumble opponent with the Zig Zag.

R-Truth def. The Miz (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Earlier in the evening, the former tag team partners engaged in a heated argument during a backstage interview. As a result, Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis informed the two Superstars that the loser of the match would be the first entrant in the Royal Rumble Match. When the opening bell rang, the two bitter rivals each did their best to gain an early advantage in the contest. Momentum swings were fairly even at first, but it was R-Truth who ultimately bested The Awesome One. As a result, The Miz will certainly have the odds stacked against him in the Royal Rumble Match.

Brodus Clay def. Heath Slater (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The Funkasaurus continued to show that he had all the right moves and picked up a victory against Heath Slater on WWE Raw SuperShow. The Superstar hailing from Planet Funk made quick work of The One Man Southern Rock Band and immediately got back to getting his groove on. William Regal watched from the announce table, criticizing Clay’s every move. On SmackDown, Regal was unceremoniously decimated by The Funkasaurus after busting some moves of his own.

Sheamus def. Jindar Mahal  (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Jinder Mahal failed to capture a victory over The Celtic Warrior on WWE Raw SuperShow. With Wade Barrett joining the commentary team, he watched as Sheamus built a great deal of momentum and pummeled Mahal. While the Punjabi Superstar did mount a brief offense, he was stopped in his tracks by a powerful Brogue Kick. Following the contest, The Great White made sure to reaffirm his commitment to win the Royal Rumble Match.

Zack Ryder vs. Kane ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The former United States Champion proved for a second week in a row that he is a true fighter. After losing the U.S. Title in part to injuries suffered at the hands of Kane one week prior, Long Island Iced-Z stood up against The Big Red Monster in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Still injured, Ryder tried to go after Kane early-on, but Kane quickly overpowered his opponent and targeted his injured ribs.

As Eve begged Kane to show mercy, it seemed to only enrage The Big Red Monster further. However, even as he took tortuous punishment, Ryder continued to kick out of Kane’s pinfall attempts. As they battled through the crowd, the two ring warriors made their way to the entrance area. After relentless punishment that left the WWE Universe cringing with every strike, Kane chokeslammed Ryder through the stage. Chris Jericho’s “Highlight Reel” returned to Raw (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After weeks of bizarre behavior since returning to WWE, Chris Jericho seemed poised to address all the questions of the WWE Universe with the return of Jericho’s “Highlight Reel.” With the Jeri-Tron 5000 back to full power, Jericho played a video highlighting his storied career. He then grabbed a microphone and said, “This Sunday at the Royal Rumble, it’s going to be the end of the world as you know it.” The first-ever Undisputed Champion then exited the arena.

Dolph Ziggler & U.S. Champion Jack Swagger def.  WWE Champion CM Punk & John Cena (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In an impromptu tag team match, John Cena and CM Punk immediately showed great teamwork in an effort to take out their frustrations with Mr. Laurinaitis. With momentum not in their favor, Ziggler and Swagger tried to regroup and re-strategize. With a combination of pure athleticism and show-boating, The All-American American and No. 1 contender to the WWE Title built a fair amount of momentum against Cena. But the fighting spirit deep within the Cenation leader overpowered Swagger with an Attitude Adjustment paving the way for the WWE Champion to get inside the squared circle. However, as The Voice of the Voiceless ascended the ropes to elbow drop Ziggler, Mr. Laurinaitis distracted Punk, allowing The Show-Off to capture the victory.

In response, CM Punk challenged the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations to a match tonight and Mr. Laurinaitis accepted!

WWE Champion CM Punk called out Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis (PHOTOS)
One week after unloading a verbal tirade on Mr. Laurinaitis, The Voice of the Voiceless opened WWE Raw SuperShow by calling out the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, and demanding he admit that he will screw Punk at Royal Rumble. To the surprise of the WWE Universe, John Cena made his way to the ring as Mr. Laurinaitis did not. Cena took the opportunity to demand a match with Kane on Raw and to grant Zack Ryder a U.S. Title rematch.

The Interim Raw General Manager finally appeared and announced that Zack Ryder would face Kane in a Falls Count Anywhere Match tonight. He also declared that if Cena interfered, Long Island Iced-Z would never have another U.S. Title opportunity. Mr. Laurinaitis then announced that CM Punk and John Cena would battle Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler next!

    WWE Drops MITB

    - WWE officials have apparently decided to drop the Money in the Bank pay-per-view this July and replace it with another concept - the TLC pay-per-view. As noted before, they have been planning to bring the Money in the Bank ladder match back at WrestleMania this year.

Unless the schedule changes again, Vengeance will be replacing TLC in December for this year.

Ken Anderson Interview: Talks Jeff Hardy, WWE, Shoots On Cena

Ken Anderson Interview: Talks Jeff Hardy, WWE, Shoots On Cena

TNA Wrestler Ken Anderson spoke with The-Void.co.uk concerning his character, time in TNA, Jeff Hardy, WWE, Video Games and more. What is interesting about this interview is that he airs publicly about his issues with WWE Wrestlers John Cena and Randy Orton.

Do you class John Cena under that category?
    I’m not a huge fan.

    Why not?
Besides some personal burials that have taken place… I’m just not a huge fan.

It sounds like the backstage politics are tough to negotiate.
It’s insane. If you do something wrong, no one will tell you you did something wrong. They’ll smile to your face and say everything’s fine, but… I’m an adult, if I did something wrong, come to me and tell me I did something wrong or am doing something wrong and I will work to change that, but I’m not a mind reader! But over there, it’s just a huge game and you’re constantly being mind-fucked.

The public perception is that you’ve been subjected to that more than most.
That’s because I put myself out there, publicly. I’m one of the only guys who said something publicly because most guys are worried about their spot or worried that, if they say something, they’re gonna get heat, and I really don’t give a fuck.
I just speak my mind and do my job. I guess if I didn’t feel confident in my abilities as a performer I’d shut my mouth. But I’m confident that I can say what I want and still go out there and perform better than somebody else.

One of the things that the fans believe you had to go through is Randy Orton being responsible for you leaving WWE.
(Sighs) I’ve never said that, I don’t know where it started, it’s the telephone game at its finest. He definitely was the final straw, but by no means did I say he was the reason for me getting fired. I’ve said it time and time again, I was to blame for me being fired. I made the mistakes, I did the things I shouldn’t have done, I said things I shouldn’t have said. And that’s it.
I was injured a few times at the hands of others and rather than come back and bury those individuals and point fingers and say ‘He hurt me in a match,’ I just came back and said ‘You know what? This is wrestling, it’s not ballet, I got hurt. Period’. Meanwhile, when I was off rehabbing, people were saying I’m injury-prone.
If I take a sledgehammer to your knee, that doesn’t make you injury-prone. If I smash you in the face with a baseball bat, that doesn’t make you injury-prone. I just happened to be in a couple of situations like that, and wasn’t around to defend myself when those burials were taking place. And then – on top of that – I said the things that I said and I did the things that I did, and the final straw was when I supposedly dropped Randy on his head, and I think at that point Vince just said ‘I’ve had enough of it’.
There were certain guys, and there were three or four of them, that were lobbying for a long time [to get rid of me] and he finally gave into it and said enough’s enough.

SmackDown results: Lumberjack Match Rumbles out of control
By: Michael Burdick January 20, 2012
    Tags: SmackDown: January 20, 2012

LAS VEGAS – “Sin City SmackDown” lit up Las Vegas like never before, with a series of explosive specialty matches determined by the unpredictability of the roulette wheel. And when the aggressive actions of World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan sent the lumberjack World Title showdown spiraling into madness, the WWE Universe was given a true taste of the bedlam the Royal Rumble Match will bring in just nine days.

The World Heavyweight Championship Lumberjack Match ended in a No Contest (WATCH | PHOTOS)
For the third week in a row, extraordinary circumstances allowed World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan to walk out of SmackDown with his coveted title, despite the fact that he was lucky to walk out at all.

When Mark Henry threw Bryan over the rope and onto the lumberjacks outside the ring, the reigning champion opted to fight the masses rather than his opponent. Then, when Henry found himself caught up with a sea of lumberjacks – as he was getting his adversary back in the ring – Bryan began throwing random kicks at everyone in sight. This incited several Superstars to enter the squared circle after him, causing the match to descend into all-out chaos. Amidst the inevitable anarchy, Bryan retreated up the ramp, with the World Title firmly in his grasp.

Once Bryan was clear of the action, SmackDown General Manger Theodore Long informed him that he will defend his championship in a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match at Royal Rumble against both Mark Henry and Big Show. (MATCH PREVIEW)

Santino Marella def. Drew McIntyre in a Blindfold Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Though SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long looked ready to fire Drew McIntyre for not living up to his contract in recent weeks, Assistant to the General Manager Santino Marella convinced him to give the Scottish Superstar another chance – facing him in what the roulette wheel would determine to be Blindfold Match, where both grapplers would have their eyes completely covered.

After McIntyre failed in his attempt to cheat his way to victory, The Italian Stallion reigned supreme – calling on the WWE Universe to guide his sightless Cobra attack, which allowed him to pick up the win.
Ted DiBiase def. Hunico in a Flag Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In the first-ever Flag Match in SmackDown history, Ted DiBiase hit Dream Street to overcome Hunico, paving the way for him to wave the American flag proudly in triumph.

Wade Barrett def. Sheamus in a Tables Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Just when Sheamus looked ready to put Wade Barrett through a table with the Celtic Cross, Jinder Mahal suddenly jumped up on the ring apron. His distraction allowed Barrett to turn the tide and hurl The Great White through the table for the victory. But when Mahal tried to repeat this action in the aftermath, The Celtic Warrior got his retribution, hitting the Punjabi Superstar with the Brogue Kick before driving him into a table.

Brodus Clay def. Vickie Guerrero in a Dance Off (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In a special Sin City SmackDown Dance Off, the WWE Universe determined that Brodus Clay had the moves to put Vickie Guerrero’s “rhythmic” challenge to shame. Then, when William Regal attempted to defend Guerrero’s honor with some dignified steps of him own, The Funkasaurus ended his interruption with the thunderous “Ah-Funk-It!”

WWE Tag Team Champions Epico & Primo def. The Usos in a Tag Team Tornado Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
This past Sunday, in a WWE Live Event in Oakland, Calif., Primo & Epico defeated Air Boom to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships. Making their return to Friday night, the high-octane duo looked ready to celebrate with a victory over the battling sons of Rikishi.

Hours before SmackDown, the stunning Rosa Mendes spun the roulette wheel on WWE.com (WATCH), determining that the new champions would face their foes in a Tag Team Tornado Match, with all four participants legal in the ring at the same time. And in the midst of the fast-paced competition that followed, Primo hit a Backstabber for the pin.

Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes def. Justin Gabriel in a Player’s Choice Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Awarded a Player’s Choice Match with a spin of the wheel, Cody Rhodes chose to face Hornswoggle. However, when he attacked his pint-sized opponent before the bell, Justin Gabriel came to the rescue – egging on Rhodes to face him instead.

Despite Gabriel’s intense effort, which included several near falls on the Intercontinental Champion, Rhodes ultimately prevailed with the Cross Rhodes.

Daniel Bryan called for Big Show to quit
After repeating the claim he made on Raw that Big Show’s collision with AJ one week ago was no accident, Daniel Bryan declared he would dedicate his main event match against Mark Henry to his injured girlfriend. Sending a message to The World’s Strongest Man that he was not afraid of him, the World Heavyweight Champion called for Big Show to “do the right thing” and quit.

Tyson Kidd Discusses Looking for a New Partner

Tyson Kidd Discusses Looking for a New Partner
    - WWE Superstar Tyson Kidd recently spoke with Tim Baines of The Ottawa Sun. Below are some highlights, via Slam Wrestling:

    His talents:
"I know it might come across as arrogance. I'm sorry, but I know I can outperform a lot of people. But when the (door opens), I'm going to kick it in."

    Looking for a new partner:
"I'm a big fan of tag teams again. I've been looking, scouting (for a partner). I've done a couple of matches with Johnny Curtis and Justin Gabriel. When I teamed with Justin, I thought we gelled perfectly. Even with a guy like Trent Baretta. I think we could give a Hardy Boys type of feel."

"People have said it before, but if it's not your goal to be at the top, what are you doing this for? I've set a bunch of little goals that I hope to accomplish. And right now, the tag team scene is what I want to do."

    WWE Champion CM Punk:
"He has a different way of thinking than most guys. Basically, the message is if I've come this far, I'm already halfway into the forest and I can't go back. He's a guy I can text anytime. If it's 4 a.m. and I text him, he'll text me back."

Velvet Sky Interview: Shoots Hard On Internet Rumors, State Of The Knockouts Division

Velvet Sky Interview: Shoots Hard On Internet Rumors, State Of The Knockouts Division

TNA Knockout Velvet Sky was interviewed by Zoo magazine. In the interview she talks about getting her start in Wrestling, the popularity of Impact Wrestling in the UK and the state of the Knockouts division in TNA:

On the popularity of TNA in the UK:
The UK fans just don’t get the same opportunity to see TNA live because we are based in the US. Our fans back home can see us at the drop of a dime and get so many chances through our events, autograph signings and meet and greet sessions. It’s an exciting experience for me because I always look forward to being on the European tour and getting to perform for the UK fans. I’ll hopefully get to do a little bit of sightseeing too.

Regarding the Current Direction Of the Knockouts Division:
In my opinion I honestly think that despite the lingerie matches and bikini car washes we have the strongest group of women in the wrestling industry today. Every one of us have come from a wrestling background and spent a lot of years on the indy circuit where we worked for little money, and sometimes none at all. For me back then it sucked not to get paid, but it was more important to get my name out there in a positive way and working on the right shows to get recognised.

The pay didn’t matter to me, it mattered to work as much as possible and the six years of hard work paid off when I signed with TNA. I’ll never forget where I came from because the indy circuit is where I learned my trade. All the dues I and all the other Knockouts paid has made us that much stronger because we struggled so long trying to make it and now we have. The Knockouts is by far the best women’s division in the industry today. The internet has changed the wrestling industry considerably.

On how the internet and social media has shaped the business:
Aside from the positives from the likes of Twitter and Facebook, the internet in general has had quite a negative effect on the business. Some people report false information on professional wrestling and those in the industry, just so they can have a story. It was reported that the onscreen persona of Karen Jarrett and her negative dialogue of me was what TNA officials thought of me. That is complete and utter bullsh**t! It is just false. This is just a small example of how the internet can have a negative effect on wrestling and affect my character.

I laugh at it more than anything. It’s just frustrating because I have worked so hard to try and keep a good name for myself in this business. Don’t get me wrong as I said the likes of Twitter and Facebook have also had a positive effect because it has helped tremendously with fan interaction. Before social networking fans could only interact with us through autograph signings and events like that. But now with a click of a button fans can get in touch with us and that’s a great thing for us too.

TNA ENTERTAINMENT, LLC PARTNERS WITH ENDEMOL INDIA TO LAUNCH PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING SERIES “RING KA KING” Show to air Saturday and Sunday nights on the Colors Network

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (January 19, 2012) – TNA Entertainment, LLC announced today a partnership with Endemol India Pvt. Limited to produce “Ring Ka King,” a professional wrestling show for India that will also feature several TNA superstars. The show will air on the Colors Network Saturday and Sunday nights, with the debut airing Saturday, January 28, 2012.

“Ring Ka King,” host is the legendary Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh. The show will feature a cast of Indian superstars, as well as such TNA superstars as Abyss, Matt Morgan, Mickie James, Magnus and Scott Steiner. The partnership with TNA Entertainment, producer of IMPACT WRESTLING and Endemol India, a world leader in entertainment programming, is the first co-production for the two companies.

“The international market for professional wrestling is expanding,” states TNA Entertainment Executive Vice President Andy Barton. “Until now, most professional wrestling content has been exported from the United States. This partnership brings TNA’s expertise in producing professional wrestling programming and Endemol’s vast experience in content creation and distribution to a localized, scalable product for the Indian market.”
Executive producer Jeff Jarrett added, “Professional wrestling fans around the world have always related to one of their own, and the lack of properly trained talent and the infrastructure to produce a high quality professional wrestling show have always been a hindrance to create this type of program. With the tag team of TNA Entertainment and Endemol, we have the perfect one-two punch to bring the concept to fruition.”
