TNA Impact Wrestling Quarter Hour Ratings For December 29 2011

Q1: Impact opened with a 1.17 rating - right at the overall show average - for the opening segment featuring Sting and the Knockouts. After a commercial, there were also introductions for the opening match. (down 0.6% vs. 2011-Q1 average)

Q2: Impact peaked with a 1.22 rating for the Styles/Kaz-Steiner/Abyss Wild Card tag match. This was followed by one commercial and a post-match promo with Abyss and Steiner. (up 5.6% vs. 2011-Q2 average)

Q3: Impact dipped slightly to a 1.19 rating for Angle and Sting backstage, one commercial break, Flair/Gunner backstage, and the quick Ion vs. Nese X Division pole match. (up 2.0% vs. 2011-Q3 average)
Among males 18-49 & males 12-17, this was the highest-rated segment of the show, surpassing the previous segment. Among males 18-34, this was the third-highest-rated segment of the show, trailing the first two quarter-hours.

Q4: Impact dipped to a show-low 1.06 rating. As usual, this contained two full commercial breaks to drag down the segment. Included in the quarter-hour was Gunner vs. Doug Williams, Robert Roode backstage, and a Roode video package leading to the top of the hour. (down 5.8% vs. 2011-Q4 average)

Q5: Impact increased to a near-show-high 1.21 rating for Roode's in-ring promo with his "family." This was followed by a commercial, Angle backstage, and introductions for the next tag match. (down 1.8% vs. 2011-Q5 average)

Q6: Impact stayed steady with a 1.20 rating for Samoa Joe & Magnus vs. Eric Young & ODB. There was also one commercial, Mickie James backstage, and ring intros for Angle-RVD. (up 3.5% vs. 2011-Q6 average)

Q7: Impact dipped to a 1.13 rating for the Angle-RVD match, plus one commercial break, an Angle-Storm hype video for the Genesis PPV, and ring introductions for the main event. (down 0.9% vs. 2011-Q7 average)

Q8: Impact closed with the same 1.13 rating for Mickie vs. Gail Kim, one commercial, and the finish of their match. (down 4.0% vs. 2011-Q8 average)
Among all adults 18-34, this segment tied for the highest rating in the second hour. In the key male demos, the segment trailed other quarter-hours in the second hour and the more-watched first hour quarter-hours.

*RUMOR* TNA Star Possibly Returning to the WWE

*RUMOR* TNA Star Possibly Returning to the WWE

Regarding the online rumor of Rob Van Dam returning to WWE, Power Slam confirms in their latest issue that RVD is seriously considering returning to the organization once his contract with TNA Wrestling expires. The magazine adds that the feeling is mutual as people in WWE want the master of the Five-Star Frog Splash back.

"RVD from what we're told would receive a warm welcome in WWE," the magazine says.

Providing that no contract extension has been reached since his arrival to TNA Wrestling in March 2010, it would appear that Van Dam will be a free agent in the near future. It was reported in 2010 that RVD had signed a two-year contract with TNA.

During his hiatus from full-time wrestling, Van Dam said he would consider returning to WWE if and when he felt ready.

"One thing that's for sure is that WWE and I do have a good-faith understanding that if and when I'm ready to return that I’ll be talking to them. They look forward and hope that we'll be doing business again," he told the Baltimore Sun during an interview.

Van Dam, who turned 41 years old last month, performed for WWE from 2001 to 2007. Should RVD return to WWE, he would join a select group of former WWE world champions—Booker T, Kevin Nash and Mick Foley—who joined TNA and ultimately returned to the Stamford based organization.

WWE Raw SuperShow results: Kane's hateful torment continues
    By: Kara A. Medalis January 2, 2012
Tags: WWE Raw SuperShow: January 2, 2012, John Cena, Kane

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The first Raw SuperShow of 2012 offered plenty of surprises for the WWE Universe and the WWE Superstars, as Kane continued to torment John Cena with his message of hate, and Chris Jericho lit up Memphis with an unexpected return.

John Cena, Big Show & United States Champion Zack Ryder def. Mark Henry & Jack Swagger (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Ditched by their tag team partner, Kane, Mark Henry & Jack Swagger were forced to fight John Cena, Big Show & United States Champion Zack Ryder in the Six-Man Elimination Match. Big Show and Mark Henry were first eliminated by a double count-out in the Handicap Match. With the numbers working against him, Swagger put the ankle lock on Ryder, but Cena tagged in and hit The All-American American with the Attitude Adjustment for the victory.

After the match, Kane surprisingly emerged up through the ring to attack Ryder, then tried to suffocate Cena. The Big Red Monster nearly pulled the United States Champion down through the hole in the ring, but failed when Cena pulled his friend out of the abyss. Before Cena could get his hands on Kane, a monstrous burst of fire erupted from the hole in the ring, allowing The Big Red Machine to escape.

Chris Jericho returned (WATCH | PHOTOS)
After weeks of cryptic “1-2-12” videos on Raw SuperShow, Chris Jericho made a shocking return and was warmly welcomed by the WWE Universe, greeting some with high-fives at ringside. As he urged them for more cheers, "#Y2J" instantly became the No. 1 worldwide trend on Twitter. But as the Superstar – who was dressed in a dazzling, light-up, blinged out jacket – prolonged his homecoming, the WWE Universe’s chants of “welcome back” soon turned to boos. A smiling Jericho exited without addressing the Memphis crowd, leaving the irritated WWE Universe wondering why he’s back. (MORE: Jericho's return | PHOTOS: Jericho's most outrageous looks)

The Bella Twins def. Kelly Kelly & Eve (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Former Divas Champions Kelly Kelly & Eve joined forces to take on Brie & Nikki Bella on Raw SuperShow. The twins were victorious when they used a little bit of “Twin Magic,” swapping places and pinning Eve for the victory.

Dolph Ziggler def. WWE Champion CM Punk by Count-Out (WATCH | PHOTOS)
CM Punk lost his bout against No. 1 contender Dolph Ziggler, but retained the WWE Championship when the match ended in a count-out thanks to a distraction by Interim Raw GM John Laurinaitis. The EVP of Talent Relations ran down to the ring to advise the WWE official about the exposed turnbuckle. Meanwhile, The Straight Edge Savior nearly hit his opponent with the GTS, then locked him in the Anaconda Vise, but the official never saw Ziggler tap because he was talking to Laurinaitis. Punk ended up outside the ring, thanks to Laurinaitis, who pulled down the ropes, allowing him to slide out. Punk couldn’t get back onto the mat before the 10-count, giving his opponent the victory. While the cocky Ziggler didn’t win the title, he left proudly holding Punk’s WWE Championship knowing he’s defeated him for two straight weeks. (Preview: Punk vs. Ziggler at Royal Rumble)

Sheamus vs. The Miz ended in a No Contest; R-Truth went on the attack (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Unable to keep his temper under control, Sheamus unloaded on The Miz, and their match – which never began – ended in a No Contest. As a paranoid Miz tried to escape through the crowd, his former tag team partner, R-Truth, appeared with Little Jimmy. The Awesome One ran back toward the ring, where he was met by Sheamus’ big boot. Left down, The Miz was vulnerable to another assault by the retribution-seeking R-Truth, who hit his friend-turned-traitor with a water bottle just as he did the previous week.

Wade Barrett def. Santino Marella (WATCH | PHOTOS)
After throwing Randy Orton down a flight of stairs in a vicious Falls Count Anywhere Match on SmackDown, Wade Barrett continued his path of destruction, this time targeting Santino Marella. The Italian Superstar bravely told his opponent that the “Santino Marella Choo-Choo Trains” will run over the “Wade Barrett Garage” in the Royal Rumble Match. But on Raw SuperShow, Barrett viciously defeated his courageous opponent with a side slam despite Marella’s valiant effort.

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan def. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Daniel Bryan and Cody Rhodes were in title-free action just four days before they’ll each defend their championships on SmackDown. World Heavyweight Champion Bryan, whose confident attitude continued to grow stronger, gained more momentum with a victory over the Intercontinental Champion. This Friday on SmackDown, Bryan will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Big Show, and Rhodes will put his Intercontinental Title on the line in a match with Booker T!

John Cena called out Kane (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After wishing the WWE Universe a happy new year and sharing his resolutions for 2012, John Cena addressed Kane’s hateful rage. The leader of the Cenation said he’ll continue to enjoy whatever response he gets from the WWE Universe, and thanked them, despite Kane’s recent actions. Ready for a fight, he called out The Big Red Monster. Rather than getting in the ring with Cena, Kane promised him he’ll embrace the hate and personally witness its true power tonight!

AAA is especially high on Magnus because he always comes in with a good attitude and the women in Mexico like him. AAA officials were also high on Rob Terry because he has a look that nobody else in Mexico has. AAA is looking to bring Jeff Jarrett back in March for the Rey de Reyes event to defend the AAA Title against Mesias. They wanted to bring Karen Jarrett back with Jeff but were told she can’t because of foot surgery. Ex-Diva Upset With WWE's Treatment Of Natalya

Ex-Diva Upset With WWE's Treatment Of Natalya
Posted by Steve Carrier on 12/31/2011 at 05:17 PM

Friday's episode of SmackDown saw Alicia Fox drop Natalya with a Scissors Kick for the decisive win in a tag team match. Then with Natalya still reeling, Tamina blasted her own partner with a kick to the face, followed up by a Superfly Splash from the top rope. Former Diva Cherry, a close friend of Natalya's, was alarmed by WWE's shabby treatment of the third-generation grappler.

She tweeted, "WWE have lost their minds! I have no idea what the hell they're doing to Natalya! You're wasting the talent of one of the best wrestlers you've got!"

Regarding the loss, Natalya wrote, "It's not how hard you get hit, but how Many times you get hit, get up and keep on fighting. That's hart...I mean heart."

INDIANAPOLIS  – Not everyone got what he wanted from Santa. But during the final SmackDown of 2011, some Superstars did indeed have their holiday wishes come true. Wade Barrett finally earned retribution on Randy Orton, taking him out of commission in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere Match. Booker T got a title match with Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. And, Big Show received a title match with World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan.

Wade Barrett battled Randy Orton in a Falls Count Anywhere Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Wade Barrett and Randy Orton continued their intense rivalry in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere Match. After waging war inside the ring, the action spilled outside, where The Viper tossed Barrett over the announce table. As Orton continued to pummel Barrett, he was shoved directly into the WWE ref, knocking him out cold. Next, the two continued to fight it out among the WWE Universe.

The vicious battle then carried over into the locker room area of the Conseco Fieldhouse, where there was no WWE official present. The battle even waged on inside an elevator! But when their fight took them to the top of a staircase, it was Orton who ended up at the bottom. At first Barrett started down the stairs to approach Orton, but then backed away and exited through an arena door as The Viper laid motionless on the stair landing. When will WWE’s Apex Predator return to action? (MORE ON ORTON’S CONDITION)

To compete with the WWE Championship Match pitting CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler on Monday’s Raw, SmackDown GM Theodore Long announced a big match of his own for next week's SmackDown: World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show for Bryan's World Title.

Sheamus def. Heath Slater (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In a match made by Teddy Long, Heath Slater had his work cut out for him against Sheamus. Despite a good fight, Slater was no match for The Celtic Warrior’s brutal Brogue Kick.

Sheamus vowed to win the 2012 Royal Rumble Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Standing in the center of the ring, Sheamus vowed to win the 2012 Royal Rumble Match. But, Hornswoggle came out and declared he would be the winner. Next, Heath Slater came to ringside to state his case that he is the No. 1 redhead on SmackDown, not Sheamus. After exchanging words, The Great White sent Slater flying over the top rope.

Ezekiel Jackson def. Drew McIntyre (WATCH | PHOTOS)
With Drew McIntyre’s resolve and worth called into question by Teddy Long, the GM pitted him against Ezekiel Jackson. If McIntyre couldn’t win, Teddy said he’d have to start thinking about letting him go (WATCH). Fighting for his job, McIntyre clashed with the massive Ezekiel Jackson. While McIntyre argued with the ref about having his feet on the second rope during an attempted pinfall, Jackson swooped in, using his own questionable maneuver, grabbing McIntyre by the tights and rolling him up for the win.

Big Show def. David Otunga (WATCH | PHOTOS)
With Mark Henry watching from David Otunga’s corner, Otunga tangled with Big Show. During the bout, World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan attacked from behind, smashing Henry with his title. Next, Bryan taunted the dazed World’s Strongest Man, luring him up the entrance ramp. With Henry gone from ringside, Show promptly took care of Otunga, dropping him with a vicious WMD for the second week in a row.

Hunico def. Justin Gabriel (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Showing off his own moves against the athletic Justin Gabriel, Hunico dispatched of him with a flip from the top rope. After the win, Hunico and his friend Camacho teamed up to brutalize Gabriel by slamming him to the canvas.

Teddy Long revealed Mark Henry would be in David Otunga’s corner (WATCH)
Teddy Long passed on word form high above that the originally scheduled tag team match pitting Big Show & Daniel Bryan vs. David Otunga & Mark Henry would not take place. Instead, Big Show would face David Otunga … with Mark Henry in his corner.

Kaitlyn & Alicia Fox def. Natalya & Tamina (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In tag team action, Alicia dropped Natalya with a Scissors Kick for the win. Then with Natalya still reeling, Tamina blasted her own partner with a kick to the face, followed up by a Superfly Splash from the top rope. The devastating move harkened back to that of her father, WWE Hall of Famer “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka.

Jinder Mahal def. Ted DiBiase (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Sporting a turban, Jinder Mahal blasted the American tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. The aggressive Superstar then took it to Ted DiBiase, making him submit with the Camel Clutch.

Cody Rhodes agreed to face Booker T for the Intercontinental Championship then attacked his brother Dustin (WATCH | PHOTOS)
After Booker T thanked the WWE Universe for an awesome year that began at Royal Rumble, Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes emerged to recap his year, including defeating Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania and bringing “honor and prestige” back to Intercontinental Title. As Rhodes disparaged Booker – calling him a washed up announcer – his older brother, Dustin, came out to speak in Booker’s defense.

Dustin – whose alter ego is Goldust – said that when he was down and out, Booker took him under his wing and inspired him. But Cody didn’t want to hear any of it. Booker backed up his defender, saying he was more of man than Cody would ever be. Next, Booker said he wanted to face Cody for his Intercontinental Title. After Rhodes agreed to face Booker next week on SmackDown, he blasted his own brother with a cheap shot kick to the groin and a leaping kick to the face from the second rope.

Magnus Interview: Career In TNA, Samoa Joe and Ring Ka King
Magnus Interview: Career In TNA, Samoa Joe and Ring Ka King

iMPACT! Wrestling star Magnus recently did an interview for the Daily Star discussing his career in TNA, his odd pairing with Samoa Joe and working for TNA's recent project, Ring Ka King. Here are the highlights:

On his career so far in TNA

    Quote

I am frustrated. I’m conscious of the dreaded ‘potential’ word. It’s a horrible thing to be labelled with. You have no idea how many times I’ve been told: ‘One day, you will be world champion,’ or: ‘You’re the future, you have so much potential!

Circumstances were difficult with the Nigel(Wolfe) thing. I know that Vince(Russo) was really disappointed that it couldn’t happen because we had such great chemistry. There were big plans. Sh*t happens.

    The political side of wrestling

    Quote

If someone’s a big fan of yours of course you’re going to think they’re making the right decisions. I can’t sit here and go: ‘I hate Eric B.’ I like him. It’s business. He has his opinion and it’s down to me to make it change.

I don’t think there are many people in the world who are as young as me and have the same experience as me.I might be frustrated, but I’m developing a foundation and I’ve always been a big believer in that. My career idols are Stone Cold, HHH and Jericho.I was always going to be someone who honed their craft. I believe I can find that act that will draw money.

    Working with Samoa Joe

    Quote

I was really pleased to be put with Joe. Who wouldn’t be? He is one of the top 10 wrestlers in the world today. I love Joe’s work. He is solid, athletic and intense. I’ve always wanted to do a serious programme with him, and I think the contrast would really work.

His experience working with Ring Ka King

    Quote

It feels very special to be in on the ground floor and to be in such a good spot. Jeff Jarrett and the team behind it have faith in me as a top guy, and I have delivered.
