CM Punk Reveals Offers He Received While Away

CM Punk Reveals Offers He Received While Away
Posted by Dave Mitchell on 08/15/2011 at 03:58 PM

CM Punk says he received some of the "most ridiculous offers from the most unbelievable sources" during his brief time away from WWE last month after the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

During a radio interview with Mark Madden from last week, Punk acknowledged that he was brought back to television too soon and there were a "billion" scenarios that could have played out prior to his return. After acknowledging that WWE brought him back sooner than expected to give a jolt to business, Punk said:

“Now you’re getting into the numbers side of the business. Sure, I would have loved to drag it out. There’s a billion different scenarios you could have done. I could have went and worked indies. I had the most ridiculous offers from the most unbelievable sources. I’ll write a book some day and it’ll be a hell of a chapter."

"It would have been fun to go do commentary for like Titan Fighting Championship, it would have been fun to maybe show up at a ROH show, or go bother Gabe at Evolve, do all kinds of fun stuff. The bottom line is we have a TV show and a pay-per-view to sell. Basically it’s the hottest thing and you just kind of ride it until the wheels fall off."

Could it have been done in a more entertaining way? If everything is selling out and business is awesome, then yeah, maybe. Maybe.”

    California scheming

    Tags: Raw: August 15, 2011
SAN DIEGO – Still reeling from the contentious conclusion of SummerSlam, the WWE Universe received little in the way of clarity from WWE’s Chief Operating Officer Triple H, whose officiating miscue during the anticipated Undisputed WWE Championship Match at The Biggest Event of the Summer was the first of several injustices to befall former WWE Champions John Cena and CM Punk at the STAPLES Center.

Yet, 24 hours removed from a shocking series of events that resulted in Alberto Del Rio’s Money in the Bank-assisted WWE Championship victory, Raw was host to the newly minted champion’s first-ever title defense against longtime nemesis and 619 native Rey Mysterio.

Undisputed WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio def. Rey Mysterio (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Three weeks after winning – and losing – the WWE Championship in a single night on Raw, Rey Mysterio wanted nothing more than to reclaim the illustrious prize in the heart of the San Diego. After nailing Del Rio in the face with his iconic 619, it seemed as though The Ultimate Underdog would begin his second WWE Title reign in his hometown, live on Raw. However, as Mysterio soared through the air to further punish Del Rio with a diving splash, the defending champion countered by getting his knees up.

The Mexican Aristocrat wasn’t satisfied with simply pinning Mysterio and defending his new title. After putting down Rey-Rey for the three-count, Del Rio ruthlessly applied his tendon-snapping cross armbreaker submission hold. If John Cena hadn’t charged the ring to chase off the arrogant aggressor, Del Rio would have no doubt broken Mysterio’s arm. The scheming Superstar fled to the entrance ramp with his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez, but The Cenation Commander-in-Chief assured the dastardly titleholder that his days as Undisputed WWE Champion were numbered.

“You are not a champion,” Cena warned. “You’re a target.”

Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne def. WWE Tag Team Champions David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty in a Non-Title Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
They might not be experienced as tag team partners, but the high-flying tandem of Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne turned plenty of heads in their non-title clash with reigning WWE Tag Team Champions David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty.

The reigning titleholders tried to keep “Air” Bourne & The Dreadlocked Dynamo grounded, but were ultimately no match for this high-energy tandem. After Kingston stunned McGillicutty – his former NXT Rookie – with Trouble in Paradise, Bourne nailed the prone WWE Tag Team Champion with his patented Shooting Star Press to pick up the win.

Jack Swagger def. Alex Riley (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The business relationship between United States Champion Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero has surely seen better days, especially after her involvement in Ziggler’s match with Alex Riley the previous week resulted in a humiliating defeat for the blond Superstar.

Things were tense as Vickie & Dolph argued at the announce table for Riley’s joust with Jack Swagger, with the U.S. Title holder insisting he would have decimated A-Ry if Vickie hadn’t tried to help. Frustrated, Vickie eventually got up from the announce table and tried her hand at disruption again, this time using WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross’ iconic cowboy hat to distract the referee and Riley long enough for The All-American American to capitalize and score the pin. Ziggler then gleefully and disrespectfully stomped J.R.’s hat before leaving the ringside area.

Later, Swagger approached Vickie in the locker room area, suggesting that like all great managers throughout WWE history – including Bobby “The Brain” and “Classy” Freddie Blassie – Vickie would do incredibly well with multiple clients. Showing appreciation for her underhanded assist the former World Heavyweight Champion gave the calculating “cougar” plenty to think about.

    CM Punk interrupted Kevin Nash
    (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Triple H calls himself “The Game,” and according to his longtime friend Kevin Nash, he’s been playing some games as well. Big Daddy Cool revealed that  at SummerSlam, he received a text from Triple H’s phone that instructed him – on no uncertain terms – to take out whoever won the Undisputed WWE Championship Match.

As the competitor to simultaneously become the Undisputed Champion and make himself the latest victim of “Big Sexy’s” dreaded Jackknife Powerbomb, Punk had reason to speak up following Nash’s revelation, accusing the veteran grappler of being a liar and placing blame for the incident on his massive shoulders. The two former WWE Champions laid into one another with a succession of cutting remarks, but it was Punk would get the last word when he vowed to obtain the truth about Nash’s SummerSlam involvement from the WWE COO himself.

Divas Champion Kelly Kelly & Eve def. The Bella Twins (WATCH | PHOTOS)
They might not be as physically intimidating as the Beth Phoenix & Natalya, but Divas Champion Kelly Kelly & Eve showed the self-proclaimed “Divas of Doom” that “cute, perky” competitors are never to be underestimated.

One night after successfully defending her butterfly-emblazoned championship against the mighty Glamazon, Kelly Kelly teamed with the gorgeous Eve to take on the devious Bella Twins. In spite of Nikki & Brie’s ruthless tactics, Eve sealed a victory with an impressive moonsault off the top rope.

Natalya & Beth came out to the stage after the bout to offer their congratulations ... and what appeared to be an unspoken threat.

The Miz sounded off on Jared from Subway (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The Miz might have a distaste for most things, but he evidently loves to “eat fresh.” Taking aim at Subway’s weight-loss wunderkind Jared Fogle, who was sitting in the front row, The Awesome One remarked that he could be a better spokesperson for the sandwich shop and lauded the deliciousness of Subway’s Oven Crisp Chicken Sandwich. And to think, Miz usually makes the WWE Universe lose its appetite!

John Morrison def. R-Truth in a Falls Count Anywhere Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Over the last several weeks, the unpredictable R-Truth has confided to the WWE Universe and his imaginary entourage that he’s afraid of a few things; namely ladders, heights and spiders. But after taking an incredible beating at the hands of his former friend John Morrison in a hard-hitting Falls Count Anywhere Match, he’ll likely add The Guru of Greatness to that list.

With his extensive parkour expertise allowing him to dominate in nearly any environment, Morrison held nothing back against Truth, and with good reason. Taken out of action by the rugged grappler twice in recent months, a revitalized Prince of Parkour took the action outside the ring and never let up. After suplexing Truth into a seated position on an announce chair, Morrison showed the conspiracy theorist “what’s up” with a running knee smash.

Triple H addressed his officiating mistake at SummerSlam; introduced Undisputed WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio
    (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2 | PHOTOS)
When The Game counted Cena’s shoulders to the mat at SummerSlam and named Punk the Undisputed WWE Champion, it was pretty obvious that the Cenation leader’s foot was on the bottom rope. The crowd saw it, the announcers saw it, the ring crew saw it and millions of viewers watching at home saw it – but The Cerebral Assassin did not. The WWE COO kicked off Raw to acknowledge his mistake as the bout’s special guest referee, but since there has never been instant replay in WWE, he would not reverse his hotly contested decision.

As for his friend Kevin Nash’s post-match assault on The Second City Savior that allowed Del Rio to capitalize and steal a WWE Title win, Triple H had no explanation. Nash had asked for skybox tickets and The Game provided them, but The Cerebral Assassin denied any involvement in what transpired after the SummerSlam main event. Big Daddy Cool would appear later on Raw to speak for himself.

The King of Kings then introduced another individual who takes great pleasure in speaking for himself: Undisputed WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio! Affirming that he just couldn’t resist cashing in his Money in the Bank contract after Nash’s ring-shaking Jackknife Powerbomb left The Straight Edge Superstar in a daze, The Mexican Aristocrat vowed to deliver a crushing defeat to San Diego’s own Rey Mysterio later in the night, preventing The Master of the 619 from bringing the prestigious title home to San Diego.

Alberto Del Rio Says He Wants to Retire in 5 years

Carlos sent word that new WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio spoke with Mexican news agency Notimex last week and told them that he is looking to retire from in-ring competition in five years. Del Rio added that he wants to work a limited farewell tour and finish up with a retirement match in his home of San Luis Potosi.

The translation from Spanish to English is rough but here are some quotes from the Del Rio interview:

"I already decided. I want to retire in five years and will make a farewell tour but not as many who do 250 fights. Seek a dignified farewell to a fight in San Luis Potosi, my native land and in the Arena Mexico, my home."

"I decided to go full power and thus having managed to be the best Mexican fighter in this difficult race. I'm tired because it takes great dedication and sacrifice but also left me enormous satisfaction."

"To where I have arrived I have taken fully the name of my dynasty and know that my family is proud than I have done, so when the moment arrives for hanging the boots I will continue enjoying the place that I deserved myself."

What Happened After SummerSlam Went Off The Air

What Happened After SummerSlam Went Off The Air
Posted by Dave Mitchell on 08/15/2011 at 01:13 AM

After Sunday's WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view went off the air, Ricardo Rodriguez announced Alberto Del Rio as the new WWE Champion and put the belt around his waist.

C.M. Punk was in the ring with the briefcase. He looked confused and sad. Punk got up and walked out to a mixed reaction. He picked up the case, set it down on the ring stairs, and walked up the ramp.

Punk's music played as he walked up the ramp in disappointment. Punk saluted the crowd and headed to the back.

Justin Roberts then thanked everyone for coming to end the show.

    Update Gail Kim

WWE diva Gail Kim, who tried quitting the company two weeks ago but was denied her release, has updated fans on her status - and took a major swipe at Vince McMahon in the process.

“For everyone asking, once again I’m still on a mini-vacation (meaning don’t work for the I-won’t-acknowledge-there’s-any-competition), but have some upcoming appearances and have a few projects on the table.

“So like I said before, this won’t be the last you see of me. Just be patient. You’ll be seeing a lot of me in this next coming year…

“It’s great that everyone is hopeful but I’m nonofficially/officially done. I’m ready to make things happen for myself instead of leaving it into someone else’s hands. Especially into the hands of a person who didn’t believe in me.

“Why should I waste more of my time when I believe in myself? I’m ready to accomplish things for myself and not for a boss I have no respect for.”

    Woman on Slater Incident

    - Corinne Oliver, the woman who is accusing Heath Slater of attacking her during WrestleMania 27 weekend, tells WSBTV in Atlanta that the incident with Slater was the worst moment of her life. "When he grabbed me I immediately tried to grab his arms back, and I was saying 'Turn me a loose.' He wouldn't turn me loose," she said.

This is when Slater put her in a chokehold, she says. "I just started fighting with him, trying to get his arm from around my throat," Oliver said. Oliver added that as she fought to get away, Slater kept begging her to go to his hotel room.

    Heath Slater in de problemen?

More Details on the Alleged Assault by Slater
Posted by Steve Carrier on 08/12/2011 at 10:40 AM

    - The Atlanta Journal Constitution has an article up today on security guard Corinne Oliver's claims against Heath Slater from WrestleMania 27 weekend in Atlanta. Oliver says that she has had back pains ever since Slater allegedly put her in a chokehold and tried taking her into his hotel room.

WWE is keeping distance from the situation. "The alleged victim is making claims against Slater individually, and it’s being investigated," WWE spokesman Jerry McDevitt said. "This has nothing to do with the WWE."

According to a police report, the alleged assault happened between 4am and 5am on April 4th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, the day after WrestleMania. Police are still investigating the matter and no charges have been filed against Slater yet.

"She basically said he [Slater] approached her and asked her to go to his room," Oliver's laywyer said. "She said no. He started telling her she was pretty and those type things. The next thing you know she was in a chokehold, and he was dragging her and bending her backward, trying to get her on the elevator to his room. She violently had to struggle to get his arm from around her neck."

The woman, who is still employed by Allied Barton security, immediately told her supervisor. After months of inaction by her bosses, the woman filed a police report on June 22nd. Her lawyer says she contacted police after supervisors told her for months they were going to handle it.

SmackDown results: The best thing going?
By: Michael Burdick August 12, 2011
    Tags: SmackDown: Aug. 12, 2011
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – With just two days before SummerSlam, a new Intercontinental Champion was crowned on SmackDown and World Heavyweight Champion Christian may very well have discovered the way to overcome Randy Orton at The Biggest Event of the Summer.

Randy Orton def. The Great Khali (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In a classic story of David and Goliath, Randy Orton locked horns with The Great Khali. And in the end, The Viper hurled his metaphoric stone at The Punjabi Nightmare – in the form of a debilitating RKO – covering the gigantic Superstar for the victory.

Immediately following the match, World Heavyweight Champion Christian interrupted the celebration to taunt his No. 1 contender with some information he said he just received. Whatever the mysterious information was, he proclaimed that “it was going to change everything” at SummerSlam, Christian claimed he can’t wait for their No Holds Barred Match – where “anything goes.” With a smile, he added that “I have the best thing going.”

What does Christian have up his sleeve come this Sunday at SummerSlam? (Match preview)

Mark Henry def. Johnny Curtis (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Johnny Curtis – winner of WWE NXT season four – was decimated by Mark Henry in his debut match – in an all-out slaughter that culminated with the World’s Strongest Slam. But, as the irate Henry looked to continue his attack after the bell, Sheamus charged to the ring after him. Not wanting to wait for their impending showdown at SummerSlam (Match preview), The Celtic Warrior challenged his enraged foe to fight him right then and there. Instead, Henry chose to make his own statement of force, hitting a second World’s Strongest Slam on Curtis outside the ring.

Cody Rhodes def. Intercontinental Champion Ezekiel Jackson to become new Intercontinental Champion (WATCH | PHOTOS)
After numerous head butts with his protective face mask and a key distraction by his associate Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes executed a fierce springboard kick on Ezekiel Jackson. The bitter Superstar then finished off his decorated opponent with the Cross Rhodes, pinning his shoulders to the canvas to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

With the newly-acquired title firmly in his grasp, Rhodes instructed DiBiase to put a bag on the head of his fallen predecessor. But, when The Personification of Domination awoke, Cody made a quick exit, leaving the oblivious DiBiase to take the brunt of his wrath.

Alberto Del Rio def Daniel Bryan (WATCH | PHOTOS)
For the first time ever, the current holders of the Raw and SmackDown Money in the Bank briefcases squared-off against each other. And in the pinnacle of the high-stakes encounter, Bryan missed his mark off the top rope, allowing Del Rio to lock in the cross armbreaker for the win.

After the match, Wade Barrett emerged, hitting the war torn Daniel Bryan with Wasteland. (Bryan vs. Barrett at SummerSlam) (Bryan speaks out in "Year of the 'Dragon'")

Sin Cara def. Tyson Kidd (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Reemerging sooner than medical experts indicated he might, the gravity-defying Sin Cara leaped back onto the scene with increased muscle and a fresh arsenal of maneuvers. Utilizing incredible athletic prowess, the high-flyer triumphed over Tyson Kid.

Beth Phoenix & Natalya def. A.J. & Kaitlyn (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Beth Phoenix and Natalya punished Kaitlyn and A.J. from the opening bell, with The Fabulous Firebird quickly finishing off the “spitfire” A.J. with the devastating Glam Slam. After the match, the self-proclaimed “Divas of Doom” continued the attack on their fallen opponents, leading Natalya to lock Kaitlyn in the Sharpshooter as The Glamazon enjoyed her screams.
Can Divas Champion Kelly Kelly withstand the divine dominance of Beth Phoenix this Sunday as SummerSlam? (Match preview)

Sheamus def. World Heavyweight Champion Christian by Count-out (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Sensing that he was in real jeopardy of losing a match just two days before he will attempt to defend his title against Randy Orton at SummerSlam, the slippery Christian thrust Sheamus’ neck over the top rope, temporarily taking down the only Irish-born former WWE Champion. The World Heavyweight Champion quickly grabbed the World Title and high-tailed it up the ramp, forcing the referee to count him out.

Christian dropped his lawsuit against WWE and will compete at SummerSlam (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Gearing up to serve as the Special Guest Referee in the blockbuster SummerSlam main event to decide the Undisputed WWE Champion (match preview), WWE’s Chief Operating Officer Triple H journeyed to SmackDown. Pledging to continue to make WWE exciting and unpredictable, he announced a slew of explosive SmackDown match-ups for later in the show.

Christian then emerged to inform Triple H that putting him in a career-threatening No Holds Barred Match at SummerSlam against the “mentally unstable” Randy Orton was creating an unsafe work environment for him. He threatened that if WWE’s COO didn't remove that stipulation from the World Title showdown, he was going sue WWE and just about everybody else associated with the event. But, when Triple H threatened to fire him for breach of contract and take back the World Title, Christian opted to drop the lawsuit. He pledged instead to defeat Randy Orton at SummerSlam (match preview) and whomever Triple H puts him in a match with tonight. That Superstar … would be Sheamus.

CM Punk Says Rock's Shtick Is Corny, Change in WWE

CM Punk Says Rock's Shtick Is Corny, Change in WWE
Posted by Steve Carrier on 08/11/2011 at 08:37 PM

    - WWE Champion CM Punk spoke with Mark Madden on his Pittsburgh radio show this past Monday to promote SummerSlam. Punk was asked if he now has creative control in WWE. Punk said he doesn't like that term and said control is bad. He noted that he has input now but added that everyone always has input. Madden asked Punk if things have really change in WWE or if it's just another McMahon being the star of the show.

"I think things aren't going to change over night," Punk said. "A few little things have already changed. Just the face they're listening to different people is a step in the right direction. It's going to take a while. Obviously I'm one who's an advocate for any kind of change. Getting guys like Zack Ryder on TV is a step in the right direction. He's entertaining, that's the bottom line. Is he going to main event WrestleMania this year? No. Maybe he will in a couple of years, you never know. I'm just happy what little change has been implemented thus far has been implemented."

Punk says people have been making comparisons to what's happening now and the Attitude Era but added that he isn't trying to fill Steve Austin's shoes. Punk is trying to do something completely different - make it fun again, he said. Punk said he hopes he is making everyone tune in next week to see what's going on because that's his goal.

Regarding John Cena, Punk acknowledged that he has said some nasty things about his SummerSlam opponent but put him over as someone who loves what he does and a hard worker for WWE. Punk said everything he has said about "Dwayne" is absolutely 100% true.

"I'm in a position now where I think I can call guys out on it," Punk said about The Rock. "I have no personal problems against Dwayne. It's very frustrating being here and watch a guy come in and get credit for a WrestleMania buyrate when he didn't do anything on the show. He certainly didn't do anything entertaining. There's a line he crossed at some point where I think he is just as out of touch as the Vince McMahons and everybody else. I'm not calling Rock old, he's still obviously a young physical fit guy but his ideas are old and his shtick is corny in my opinion. Hopefully when my ideas are old and my shtick is corny, there's some young punk that's going to call me out on it. Hopefully Dwayne takes it as, "ok when I come here I have to step it up", and hopefully he does."

Update on Future of Sin Cara and WWE Concerns

Update on Future of Sin Cara and WWE Concerns
Posted by Steve Carrier on 08/11/2011 at 08:35 PM

    - Super Luchas is reporting that Mistico has left WWE and Hunico was told he would be working as Sin Cara at the WWE Mexico tapings in October.

Sources are claiming two different stories. One, that Hunico will play Sin Cara until the original Cara can return and then they will feud. The other is that Mistico is not being brought back after all and Hunico will remain as Sin Cara.

There are people within WWE, and that work with WWE on promotions, that are waiting for a final word from company officials on the future of the Sin Cara character going forward. They are worried that the new person playing Sin Cara will be pushed and not get over like Mistico. If they merchandise him for big plans down the line, it could turn out that they have backed a dud.

Within Mexico, people are worried that fans will see the new Sin Cara as a fraud. Many of WWE's licensees saw huge money in Sin Cara merchandise aimed at the Mexican market.

Orlando Jordan talks about his TNA release.

Orlando Jordan talks about his TNA release.

Orlando Jordan has adressed his release on a 55 minutes podcast presented by http://www.clubwwi.com/.

    Quote

"I enjoyed my time there. I was a little bit disappointed with the progression of the character because we started out where I wanted to go - and I laid out how I wanted this character to start and develop - because I believe a character should grow. Every character evolves and I wanted this character to evolve. That was the understanding…When you work for a company, you can't get everything you want. You have to compromise. And I compromised with the character on what they wanted and that was part of the deal. That was a hard thing. That was a challenge. Trying to do what I wanted and trying to give what I wanted the way I knew it could be delivered and then also what the company wanted to present - that was a challenge there. In the end, I was a little bit disappointed in that area and stuff

I'm a professional and I'm a performer. So I'm always willing to do something different and that was the attempt. Like I said, you have to compromise and stuff like that. But when you compromise, you start to lose the direction. That's where it headed. Eventually, I had to make decisions and if it wasn't headed in the direction I wanted, I had to make decisions…I know they said I was released, but I had made a series of inquires to TNA about things and - I got released on a Monday - that Friday (before), I had actually called the TNA office and said, "Look. I need something to happen and I'm not happy and I need to be able to do more things." The person I talked to wasn't really in the position, I don't think, to do anything. So I left my piece of mind and then I was granted my release on Monday. So that's what happened. Was I upset? No. Not at all. I was very content with how things went out and we parted on good terms and everything".

    Melina To TNA?

    Melina To TNA?

Regarding the possibility of Melina going to TNA, she had a fan in Bruce Prichard when they both were working for WWE. Prichard now works as the head of talent relations for TNA so it's possible she could be offered a deal. No word yet if TNA is interested in any of the other recently released WWE talents.
