WWE NXT Results (7/26/11) - The First-Ever Necklace On A Pole Match
Written by Brooks Oglesby on Jul 26, 2011 - 9:50:38 PM

    WWE NXT - 7/26/11

-It's time for the twenty-first week of NXT Redemption! We start with a recap of the feud between Tyson Kidd and Yoshi Tatsu, which started with Kidd breaking the leg off of Yoshi's action figure. There is a recap of Kidd stealing back his necklace with Yoshi's toy leg on it, as well as Yoshi finding his shrine desecrated. The opening titles roll, and commentators Todd Grisham and William Regal welcome us from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

-A Necklace on a Pole match between Yoshi Tatsu and Tyson Kidd is announced for tonight.

-Titus O'Neil makes his way to the ring on his own. There is a recap of last week's match between Titus and Darren Young, in which Derrick Bateman almost cost Titus his match. Derrick Bateman comes out alone as well, but he has his own music and tron.

Match #1: Derrick Bateman vs. Titus O'Neil

-They lock up and Titus forces Bateman into the corner. The referee separates the two and Titus hits a short-arm clothesline. Titus whips Bateman and hits an impressive clothesline. He follows it up with a European uppercut, and tosses Bateman across the ring. Titus hangs Bateman between the irst and second ropes and catapults him up onto the second rope. Titus wrenches Bateman's arm, but he gets to his feet, only to receive a knee to the gut from Titus. Titus throws Bateman shoulder-first into the turnbuckle and hits a scoop slam. Bateman tries to take control, but Titus tosses him over the top rope. Bateman looks frustrated and stands at the bottom of the ramp, but Darren Young walks out and gives Bateman a pep talk.

    -Commercial

-Darren Young is now ringside as Bateman takes control by choking Titus on the top rope. Bateman runs the ropes and hits a flying forearm smash before locking in a headlock on Titus. Bateman hits a snapmare and a kick to the face for a two-count. Bateman applies a rear chinlock as Young continues to shout advice at Bateman. Titus gets to his feet and hits a back suplex on Bateman. Bateman reels in the corner and Titus goes over to him, but Bateman grabs Titus and makes him fall head-first onto the bottom turnbuckle. Bateman slides out of the ring and starts clubbing Titus' head. He gets onto the apron and hits a leg drop on Titus. They get back into the ring and Bateman gets a two-count. Bateman applies another chinlock and Titus gets to his feet again. Titus gets whipped into the corner and Bateman charges, but Titus gets an elbow up. Bateman hits a quick snapmare and climbs the turnbuckle. Bateman stalks Titus and goes for a crossbody but Titus pushes him away in mid-air. Titus hits his spinning backbreaker for a two-count. Titus gets up and Young grabs Titus' leg, causing him to turn around. Bateman dropkicks Titus in the back, bouncing him off the turnbuckle. This allows Bateman to hit Man-Tastic, his reverse STO-style move for the three-count.

    Winner: Derrick Bateman

-Bateman and Young celebrate in the ring after the match.

    -Commercial

-Hornswoggle is backstage with the doll he got last week. He finds a trail of candy and follows it to a heart-shaped note on a curtain. He puckers up and AJ pops out from behind the curtain. The two kiss as Maryse comes up to mock them. Maryse says that they're perfect for each other, since they're both trolls. AJ slaps Maryse and Maryse storms off. AJ gives Hornswoggle flowers and walks off.

-Vladimir Kozlov is planking on top of a vending machine. JTG comes up and asks what he's doing. Vlad says that he is the best plankster. JTG says he's trying to be the best gangster, not plankster. Vlad says he'll be the best in the WWE, and takes JTG's hat, puts it on, and smiles as JTG walks away.

    -Commercial

-A pole is set up on one of the corners of the ring. The leg of Yoshi's action figure is attached to the necklace which is attached to the pole. When Yoshi walks to the ring, he carries his wounded action figure, complete with bandages.

Match #2: Necklace on a Pole Match - Tyson Kidd vs. Yoshi Tatsu

-Tyson hits a gut kick and tosses Yoshi out of the ring. He runs toward the pole, but Yoshi pulls him down. Yoshi hits a chop and runs the ropes, hitting a spinning wheel kick. Yoshi climbs up, but Kidd pulls him down and hits a running dropkick to Yoshi's temple. Kidd climbs the turnbuckle, but Yoshi gets Kidd on his shoulders. Kidd grabs the top rope and flips both himself and Yoshi over the rope to the outside. Kidd hits a suplex on Yoshi onto the floor. Yoshi gets up and hits a chop followed by a number of kicks. He hits his running knee attack on the steep steps. Yoshi tries to jump from the steps to the barricade to kick Kidd, but Kidd moves and Yoshi gets his leg hung up on the barricade. Kidd slowly makes his way up the turnbuckle, but looks down at Yoshi and goes out after him. He throws him back into the ring and starts stomping a mudhole in him in the corner. Yoshi gets up and both men hit the ropes. They collide with a double clothesline and both men are down. Both men get up to the turnbuckle and start battling on the second rope. Yoshi pushes Kidd off onto the announce table, but Yoshi falls back to the floor.

    -Commercial

-Kidd is in control on the outside. He hits a dropkick to Yoshi's temple once again and heads up the turnbuckle. Before he gets too high, Yoshi catches up to him and grabs his leg. Tyson drops down and kicks Yoshi onto the bottom rope. Kidd hits his over-the-top-rope leg drop and then applies a Boston crab while Yoshi's hung up on the rope. Kidd tries for the necklace once again, but Yoshi pushes the leg of Kidd away, dropping him down. Yoshi hits a big roundhouse kick to Kidd and Yoshi falls down as well. Yoshi slowly crawls to the turnbuckle. He gets to the top rope but Tyson pushes Yoshi, who lands right where it hurts on the turnbuckle. Yoshi's stuck in the tree of woe and Tyson kicks him before Yoshi climbs back up to the top rope. Kidd follows and hits a huge back superplex, but Yoshi grabs the leg of his action figure at the last second.

    Winner: Yoshi Tatsu

-Yoshi slowly gets to his feet and celebrates, but Kidd attacks him from behind. Kidd slams Yoshi's leg against the ringpost and then slams Yoshi's leg onto the announce table. Kidd then applies a figure four leglock on Yoshi while using the ring post for leverage. Referees come to break it up and Kidd smiles while Yoshi writhes in pain. Referees help Yoshi limp the back as Kidd continues to taunt him from the stage.

-The rest of NXT is a Raw Rebound of the WWE Championship match between Rey Mysterio and John Cena from last night, as well as the return of CM Punk.

-That's all for this week's NXT Redemption. Thanks for reading.

HAMPTON, Va. – The McMahon Era may have ended, but the Triple H Era has just begun. On The Game’s first night as the Big Man on Canvas, the WWE Universe witnessed the return of a WWE Hall of Famer, an electrifying Superstar and, not one, but two WWE Champions. Actually, three. Oh, yeah, this should be interesting.

John Cena def. WWE Champion Rey Mysterio; CM Punk confronted Cena (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2 | CM PUNK EXCLUSIVE | PHOTOS | FULL STORY)
The capacity crowd inside the Hampton Coliseum might want to save their ticket stubs. It was a night to remember for the WWE Universe. In an unprecedented second WWE Championship Match of the night, newly-minted WWE Champion Rey Mysterio was forced to defend the title he won less than two hours earlier against one of WWE’s toughest competitors, John Cena.

As the two sportsmen competed, it eventually became clear that The Cenation Commander-in-Chief would overpower Rey’s agile assault and capture his ninth WWE Championship. In the carnival of celebration, however, one competitor emerged to dispute the legitimacy of Cena’s reign.

CM Punk shocked the WWE faithful when, after having departed the company two weeks earlier, he surfaced inside the arena carrying his WWE Title. The audience, as well as millions at home, watched the confrontation, the tension, the body language. Which man would blink first? Which WWE Champion was the rightful heir to WWE’s most coveted object? In the frenzied air of anticipation, however, there would be no determination. The Second City Savior and The Champ merely stood hoisting their respective WWE Titles skyward, as if to declare their proper place in the history books despite the protests of the other.

Alberto Del Rio def. Kofi Kingston (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Alberto Del Rio quickly figured out that coasting on your accomplishments is the quickest course to obscurity in WWE. In the wake of his astounding Money in the Bank victory, The Mexican Aristocrat dropped focus in an upset loss to Kofi Kingston last week. This week, however, Mr. Money in the Bank came correct, halting his slide as well as any momentum for the Dreadlock Dynamo.

Zack Ryder def. Michael Cole (WATCH | PHOTOS)
After abandoning his post earlier in the program, announcer Michael Cole was made to pay, thanks to WWE’s new COO, Triple H. The Superstar collecting the toll? Zack Ryder. The Long Island Iced Z punished the egotistical talking head and gave his legion of “Bro-skis” something to cheer about. Woo! Woo! Woo! You know it!

Triple H gave a “State of the WWE Address” (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Meet the new boss. After relieving Mr. McMahon of his duties last week, Triple H took over as WWE’s Chief Operating Officer or COO. This week, a sharply dressed Game addressed the WWE Universe and ushered in several major developments.

First, Raw would host an unprecedented second WWE Title Match later in the evening between recently crowned WWE Champion Rey Mysterio and John Cena.

The second bombshell dropped shortly afterward: WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross would be returning to the Raw announce desk.  When The Game announced the decision, current announcer Michael Cole mouthed off in protest. As a result, Triple H arranged a match for him later in the evening against an as-yet-unnamed opponent.

While wrapping up his address, The Cerebral Assassin was interrupted by a clearly imbalanced R-Truth. After enduring the crackpot’s latest batch of conspiracy theories, Triple H introduced the man Truth had put on the shelf: John Morrison. The recuperated Shaman of Sexy  darted into the ring and unleashed his frustrations on Truth, leaving him immobile in the ring.

Divas Champion Kelly Kelly & Eve def. Maryse & Melina (WATCH PHOTOS)
Two blondes plus two brunettes equals one heck of a tag team match. Divas Champion Kelly Kelly teamed with the gorgeous Eve to square off against belligerent beauties Maryse & Melina. Although Kelly looks like a cheerleader, she once again proved she isn’t afraid to throw down like a linebacker. The Divas Champion proved her title reign is no fluke when she secured the pin and the victory for her team.

Next week, Divas from both Raw and SmackDown will compete in a Diva Battle Royal to determine who will face Kelly Kelly at SummerSlam.

U.S. Champion Dolph Ziggler def. Evan Bourne (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Is Vickie Guerrero Dolph Ziggler’s lucky charm? If so, the poor guy may just have to keep her around. Once again, the U.S. Champion prevailed in a match against one of WWE’s most agile Superstars, Evan Bourne. The aerial acrobrat proved unable to overcome Ziggler’s swiftness and athleticism, succumbing to a sleeper hold.

Rey Mysterio def. The Miz to become the WWE Champion (WATCH:PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3 | PHOTOS)
First things first. When Raw went off the air the week before, there remained unfinished business to attend to, namely determining a new WWE Champion. After eight Superstars were whittled down to two during a WWE Championship Tournament, only Rey Mysterio and The Miz remained. To kick off tonight’s show, the pair clashed in a frenzied contest that eventually saw The Master of the 619 capture his first ever WWE Championship.

His title reign got off to a tumultuous start. After the match, Rey’s petulant opponent, apparently unable to keep his A.D.D. in check, ambushed the freshly-minted champion before stomping off. As if Miz’s outburst weren’t enough, Mr. Money in the Bank, Alberto Del Rio, then appeared, hoping to cash in his contract. Before he could, however, the new champion flew over the top rope onto his attacker, which sent The Mexican Aristocrat flying and fleeing up the entrance ramp.

In addition to all the championship action at the top of the show, WWE’s new Chief Operating Officer, Triple H, will assume his role as head of the company later in the program and offer a “State of the WWE Address.”

WWE Tough Enough contestant Ivelisse Velez was at the WWE Raw taping in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She worked in front of the agents before the fans were allowed to enter the arena.

Ivelisse appeared to be the top remaining female worker before she suffered an injury, which played a part in Steve Austin cutting her from the show.
