Dwayne Johnson article declares "The Rock is dead"
Posted by Bobby Spade on 05/14/2008 at 02:39 PM

The new Men's Journal magazine features Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on the cover and a good interview with the Hollywood heavyweight inside. A caption on the magazine cover says, "THE ROCK IS DEAD. Dwayne Johnson & the art of reinventing yourself."

WWE Tag Team Champion The Miz def. CM Punk
Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool & Cherry def. Layla, Victoria & Natalya
    Mike Knox def. Colin Delaney
    Armando Estrada def. Colin Delaney
WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison def. ECW Champion Kane

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Whether it was a monster, a chick magnet, veterans, newcomers or Divas, the Land of the Extreme was full on conflict on the road to Judgment Day.

It’s official – Colin Delaney has signed on the dotted line and is now an ECW Superstar. But is the youngster truly ready for the Land of the Extreme? After his brand-new entrance music blared throughout the arena, Delaney had his first match as an active member of the ECW roster. He faced someone who brutally beat him mere weeks ago – Mike Knox – and once again Delaney found himself in the losing corner. But the beating didn’t stop there.

Delaney isn’t the newest active member of the ECW roster, however – Armando Estrada is. Delaney defeated the General Manager last week to earn his ECW contract, and the super-ripped Estrada was out for revenge on Tuesday night. Fresh off his loss to Knox, Delaney remained in the Extreme ring to face the GM. This time, a strong Estrada came out on top, leading to Delaney’s second loss of the evening. Is the Land of the Extreme too much for Delaney to handle? (WATCH)

Also on Tuesday night, several SmackDown Divas made a special appearance on ECW in a Six Diva Tag Team Match. Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool and Cherry faced Layla, Victoria and Natalya. Now that she’s single and focusing her attention on the ring (rather than Deuce & Domino), Cherry’s proving herself as a worthy opponent. SmackDown’s shy sweetie picked up the win for her trio when she pinned the ruthless Victoria.

Diva Lena Yada spoke to a determined Shelton Benjamin on ECW on Tuesday night. The Gold Standard claimed that the next time he faces the undefeated Kofi Kingston, he will beat the Jamaican Superstar. But Kingston overheard Benjamin’s comments and said, “Let me be the first one to say ‘good luck.’” Then Kingston leveled Benjamin, leaving him writhing in pain on the ground.

Finally, in a preview of sorts of Sunday’s Judgment Day, WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison individually faced Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk and ECW Champion Kane, respectively. The Tag Champs proved their dominance, as The Miz and Morrison both picked up wins.

    Mysterio Involved In China Earthquake

    Mysterio Involved In China Earthquake

WWE.com has an article up noting that during Rey Mysterio's current media tour of China, a 7.8 earthquake devastated the nation’s southwestern Sichuan province today killing more than 8,500 people. Mysterio was at a media event in Xian, China when the earthquake hit. He was unharmed, evacuated and brought back to his hotel where he was put on the first floor for safety reasons. Mysterio currently can't leave the country as all flights have been grounded and it is likely the media tour will be cut short.

World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes def. Carlito & Santino Marella
    Mr. Kennedy def. Snitsky
Maria & Ashley def. Melina & Beth Phoenix
    Jeff Hardy def. Umaga
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch def. Cryme Tyme
    Randy Orton def. John Cena

DETROIT – Monday was a night of returns as both John Cena and Jeff Hardy appeared on their first edition of Raw after lengthy absences.

Hardy began his comeback by addressing our fans, explaining that he made a mistake and he paid for it.

“Now that I’m back,” he said, “I have a lot of things to do.”

Before he could announce his plans to regain the Intercontinental Championship, Raw General Manager William Regal turned off his microphone and instantly threw him into a match against Umaga. Despite being caught off guard, Hardy rose to the challenge and surprised the Samoan Bulldozer and the general manager with a victory.

Monday marked Hardy's first appearance since before WrestleMania XXIV. No doubt Hardy has expectations for at least an Intercontinental Championship on the way to WrestleMania XXV. (WATCH)

    Golden “pipe” dreams
Carlito & Santino Marella entered the first match of the evening with the opportunity to win the World Tag Team Championship from Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes. Despite not seeing eye-to-eye lately, Santino invited WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper to watch from the best seats in the house at the announcers’ table. Unfortunately for “Can-tino” and his partner, that wasn’t close enough for Piper, who spoiled the tag team’s dreams for the gold.

During the contest, Hot Rod decided to get involved, offering a metaphoric slap in the face to go along with the physical one he provided two weeks earlier. It was distraction enough for Rhodes to take advantage and pick up the victory to retain the titles.

Marella met up with Piper in the locker room later in the night, promising the Legend that he will get payback.

    Swan song
Lance Cade hasn’t been shy about his frustrations with Trevor Murdoch and the tag teams’ lack of recent success. The sun shined on Cade & Murdoch on Raw, though, as Murdoch notched the three-count to defeat Cryme Tyme in quick fashion, appearing to be back on the winning track. Murdoch sang Kenny Rogers’ “The Gambler” in celebration. Cade seemed to enjoy his teammate’s spirit, but the mood soon changed when he took out all of his pent up aggression on Murdoch, ending the concert early and leaving Murdoch licking his wounds. (WATCH)

    High tension
A week after Beth Phoenix took an apparently accidental boot to the face from Melina, the two Divas had a chance to put water under the bridge and prove they could coexist against a Playboy cover girl and the Women’s Champion. But Maria & Mickie James were as hot as ever, and so was the tension between Melina & Beth.

Maria & Mickie coasted to victory after Beth left Melina’s side. When Melina approached her tag team partner afterward, The Glamazon accused her of hitting her with the boot last week on purpose. Melina attacked in response, but Beth took control until Jillian and multiple referees pulled her off.

    Mind games and fat lips
Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho offered his apologies to Shawn Michaels for accusing him of feigning an injury. He also gave him a chance to back out of their match this Sunday at Judgment Day. The apology turned out to be too soon, though. HBK joined Jericho in the ring, only to admit he in fact did fake his knee injury. When Y2J thought Michaels was simply playing mind games, The Showstopper backed up his confession with some Sweet Chin Music, assuring that their Judgment Day confrontation would happen. (WATCH)

    Talking the talk
Mr. Kennedy was loud as ever after consecutive weeks of cutting off William Regal with his notorious antics on Raw. Kennedy defeated Snitsky in convincing fashion and is not likely to leave Regal alone anytime soon, as the Superstar is still upset he was not included in the King of the Ring tournament that the general manager won.

    Rainy return
Our Detroit fans were lucky enough to see John Cena’s first Raw since Backlash after receiving a punt in the head from Randy Orton in the WWE Championship Fatal Four Way Elimination Match. (WATCH)

Cena made waves when he confronted Regal to kick off the evening, but that ended in the main event contest between Cena and Orton. Guest referee – and Cena’s Judgment Day opponent – John “Bradshaw” Layfield called a quick three-count to give Orton the win, spoiling Cena’s homecoming. Orton’s celebration didn’t last for long, though, as WWE Champion Triple H got involved to spoil the party.

TNA was thinking about bringing in Tammy Sytch. There had been talk within TNA about using Sytch in a major role, but a few weeks ago, a few of their wrestlers did a wrestling convention with her, and came back with a negative report on the blonde bombshell. Due to the report on her, Sytch is no longer under consideration from TNA.

    TNA Sacrifice Pay-Per View Results - May 11, 2008

    TNA Sacrifice Opener:

The PPV opened with a video feature based on Scott Steiner vs. Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle for Joe's TNA title.

They went to video from 7:07 PM of Kurt Angle arriving via limo to the Impact Zone. Jeremy Borash said he was in Korea when Kurt was injured and asked Angle for an update. Angle said his doctor, Dr. Jho has advised him not to wrestle tonight due to the injury. Angle said that if it was up to him, he would wrestle, but he can't afford to do so because he has three cracked vertebrae in his neck. He said he won the Olympics with a broken neck and headlined Wrestlemania with a broken neck, but he's not 25 years old anymore and if his doctor tells him not to compete, he can't.

They then went to video of Scott Steiner arriving earlier today. Lauren asked Scott his thoughts on Angle not being able to wrestle. Scott said that he didn't know anything about Angle being hurt. He said that he was originally supposed to wrestle Samoa Joe in a singles bout, so it's interesting to see what was gone down, but he still doesn't trust Angle. Lauren was surprised to see not just Rick Steiner but Kevin Nash emerge from Scott's care.

They went to footage of Jeremy Borash catching Samoa Joe as he arrived at the venue. When asked about Kurt's injury, Joe said that he had heard rumors but now that it's official, it's a shame when anyone goes down to injury, even someone he has issues with. Borash asked Joe what he thought about Nash arriving with the Steiners. Joe looked stunned, then walked off.

Team 3D vs Storm & Sting
Storm and Sting argue over who will begin, and Storm will begin. He and Devon kick things off, and Storm slaps Devon in the back of the head. Storm sits on the apron and drinks a beer. Devon in control with the chinlock, Sting battles out and Devon slams him down. To the 2nd rope, head butt connects for 2. Storm continues to sit and drink. Devon misses another head butt try, Sting fights back and gets a Stinger splash.

Ray in, whipped to Devon and Sting misses a splash, WASSUP HEAD BUTT connects and Devon goes for a table. Storm is on the floor and drinking still, Sting fights back and Storm is in now telling them to kill Sting! He sits on the second rope, and 3D walks away! Sting tosses him THROUGH the table, kind of, he was a bit short. Sting walks away and 3D pins Storm.

    Winners: Team 3D

    Backstage
Lauren asked Frank Trigg about Kurt Angle's injury. Trigg said he was concerned about the injury because Angle is someone who is known for taking risks and working with injuries, but after suffering the injury and trying to guy through it with rest and workouts, Angle had to pull out. It was a case of not giving the fans his best and being out for months, as opposed to hopefully just being out a few weeks. Lauren asked Trigg what he thought the outcome of the TNA title bout would be now. They were linking Trigg and Angle as friends as Trigg said that he was concerned about Angle's injuries after all Angle has done to help him prepare for MMA bouts. He predicted Joe.

Robert Roode & Booker T vs Rhino & Christian
Roode was furious when he found out Booker was his partner and security had to get between them, so it's two straight matches with dissension among partners, Christian and Roode went back and forth to open the bout. Roode took control and they put over that Roode didn't want to tag Booker, preferring to control the bout himself. Roode caught Cage in the corner with a clothesline, then hit the rolling snap mare.

Booker offered to tag and Roode ignored him. That led to Cage starting to fire back, but being caught with a spinebuster. Booker finally tagged in and went for the Axe kick but Cage avoided it and slammed him on the back of his head. Rhino tagged in but Booker caught him with a leg lariat. Roode blindtagged in as Booker was clotheslined to the floor. Roode took over on Rhino and went for the Payoff, but Rhino avoided and caught him with the gore for the pin.

Kevin Nash tells Scott Steiner to speak english so he understands. Hayo! Steiner said they are two peas in a pod. He asks for his help tonight. Nash said Samoa Joe has been his meal ticket for the last few months. Steiner begs for him just to think about it. Nash agrees and says he will think about it. Nash and Steiner shake hands.

Kip James & Matt Morgan vs LAX

Jabs by Kip, backs off, tunes up the band and MISSES the corner splash. Hernandez tags in and levels Kip. Corner splash connects, takes the shirt and uses it totoss Kip across the ring.

Nails Morgan, who comes in and they stand off and brawl. Off the ropes, they collide and then do it again. Hernandez gets a shoulder block and Kip is back, beats him down and as he goes for the fameasser Morgan levels him with the bog boot and Hernandez covers Kip for the win.

    Winners: LAX

Jeremy Borash asked AJ Styles what his strategy was against Awesome Kong. Styles said he didn't know because she was a woman, he thinks. Kurt Angle barged in demanding to know whether Styles was seeing Karen Angle or not. He reminded Styles he was still his boss and was mad that AJ didn't check on him when he hurt his neck. He asked again whether he was seeing Karen. AJ said, "I'm not going to answer that. Take care of your neck."

AJ Styles & Super Eric vs BG James & Awesome Kong

    - Mike Tenay said Jim Cornette will have a special announcement about the main event later tonight.

    - They are setting up the Terror Dome.

    Backstage:
Lauren interviewed Rick Steiner asking why he was there tonight. Steiner said his brother had a huge TNA title match tonight and Scott asked him to be there for him, so he is. Lauren said every time the Steiners are together, there's trouble and wondered what type of support he was there to provide. Steiner said he was just there to be there for his brother and starting barking. Lauren looked like she had no idea what in the world he was doing. That was hysterical, in the wrong way.

    The Terror Dome
Curry Man came out first for the Terrordome match. This structure looks like a plastic toy cage suitable for something found in a Lego's box at Toys R Us. More ring entrances took place for the generic X Division men. Tenay said they're all wearing gloves because it's tough to get a firm grip on the structure.

With all 10 men in the ring, Cornette came out on stage and said he wants to sweeten the pot. He said that with the injury to Kurt Angle, there's a spot open for the TNA Title match. Cornette said the winner is #1 Contender to the X Title and will take Angle's spot in the main event. The top was then lowered on top of the steel structure to start the match.

They start to climb right away and pair off to brawl. Curry Man gets a jaw breaker on Rave. Kaz now climbs, Devine over to stop him and they trade chops up top. TOP ROPE LUNG BLOWER BY DEVINE! DEVINE INTERVENTION on Creed!

Devine now climbs, as does Rave. Kaz follows and grabs at Devine, and pulls him off onto EVERYONE else! Kaz goes for the escape, everyone is trying to climb… but KAZ WINS!

    Winner: Kaz

    Backstage:
Jeremy Borash is with TNA World Champion Samoa Joe. Borash wants Joe's thoughts on Kaz just winning to advance to the main event tonight. Joe said Kaz is a great competitor and deserves his spot tonight. Borash said he didn't want to stir things up and wants his thoughts on Kevin Nash. Joe goes off on Borash and said that is all he does is stir things up. He said he hasn't seen Kevin Nash all night and says if he crosses his path he will regret it.

    - Mike Tenay and Don West talk about tonight's new main event featuring Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner vs. Kaz for the TNA World Title. West talks about the distraction Kevin Nash has caused tonight by arriving with Scott Steiner and speaking backstage about it.

Cage and Rhino are showing the effects of the chair shots from Booker. 3D double team Cage to get the advantage. Chops by Ray, elbows now and then a neck breaker by Ray gets 2. Devine is out with the cane, Rhino tossed to he floor and 3D double teams Cage, reverse 3D and Rhino is back in. Double clothesline to 3D. Ray to the floor, Devine has the cane and gives it to Ray. Slam by Rhino on Devon gets 2. Gore try, NAILS Devon! Devine distracts the ref, Ray has the cane and NAILS Rhino! Devon covers and that is all.

    Winners: Team 3D

    Backstage:
Jeremy Borash interviewed Kevin Nash. Nash scoffed at the idea that Samoa Joe should be upset he got a ride from the airport from Scott Steiner. Borash said Joe wanted to choke him out and said he would do that to Nash if they crossed paths tonight. Nash said, "Let's go cross paths with Joe and see if he chokes me out" and went off to find Joe.

AJ Styles & Super Eric vs LAX
They claimed Styles hurt his mid-section during the finish of his opening match. Salinas was out for this match. Styles and Homicide started the match. They did some nice back and forth wrestling early - actually the best of the show thus far. It ended with both attempting a high cross bodyblock at the same time and colliding in mid-air.

Eric and Hernandez tagged in. Since Young is a Super Hero, Hernandez sold for him like he was a super heavyweight. He knocked Hernandez through the ropes and teased a dive, but when he went for it, Hernandez hit a shoulderblock into the ring. Super Eric asked for a test of strength, which Hernandez won early, but Eric bridged off the mat. Hernandez ended up on the floor and Young dove to the floor from the top.

Styles tagged in. Hernandez powered Styles onto the apron but Styles nailed a flying springboard forearm. Styles and Young began tagging in and out fast as they worked over Hernandez. Styles locked on a rear chinlock. Hernandez broke it. Eric and Homicide both tagged in. Eric evaded some moves but Homicide nailed a hiptoss. Hernandez returned to the fray and LAX double-teamed Eric, nailing the Drive-By. Heeey champ.

Hernandez held Super Eric for a delayed vertical suplex as Homicide locked on an STF on Styles. Eric kicked up. Styles nailed a great looking spinkick on Homicide and went for the Styles Clash. Homicide fought it off and nailed the Ace Crusher. Eric hit a sledgehammer off the ropes on Homicide. Hernandez took Young out with a clothesline.

Styles rolled up Homicide with a small package. Salinas distracted the referee, allowing Guerrero to lie, cheat and steal by turning Homicide over. The referee counted the pin, although Styles' shoulder was off the mat the entire pinfall.

    Winners: LAX

    Backstage:
Lauren interviewed "members of Samoa Joe's kin." They said that Joe had the support of the entire Samoan Nation. They noted that they weren't wrestlers but would get involved if needed. BAD IDEA. The last thing we need is a Samoan version of the "Latino Nation."

    Knockouts Makeover Battle Royal
Angelina Love vs Velvet Sky vs Rhaka Khan vs Salinas vs Christy Hemme vs Gail Kim vs ODB vs Traci Brooks vs Jacqueline vs Roxxi Laveaux.

    Battle Royal:
They al brawl to begin. Salinas tries a tornado DDT, but Roxxi tosses her out. Kim and Roxxi pair off, and I have to say that i didn't ACTUALLY go over the top rope. He covered Kaz and Joe just noly made the save, returning to the ring to break up the count.

Joe caught Steiner with an elbow then nailed a leg lariat on Steiner. He hit a front leg whip on Kaz, followed by a senton. He hit the snap slam on Steiner for a two count. Kurt Angle was scheduled to wrestle Samoa Joe at last night's TNA house show in Barre, Vermont but did not appear at the event. It was announced that a neck injury prevented him from wrestling. AJ Styles replaced Kurt Angle on the card and lost to TNA Champion Samoa Joe.

We reported here earlier in the week that Angle was believed to be injured by a botched move while wrestling in Korea last weekend.

Angle is expected to be at Sacrifice on Sunday and is expected to stay out of the ring until then.

Kevin Nash talks about Impact vs. Smackdown

Kevin Nash said there are similarities between working for Vince McMahon and Jeff Jarett during an interview with the UK Sun. "With creative, in WWE, people would always go back and forth about something and finally someone would say: “You know what, let’s just go talk to Vince. I’m tired of talking to a horse’s ass. Vince what do you want?” Vince would make a decision and it would get done. And in TNA, it’s like that with Jeff. Anytime there’s infighting just grab Jeff and say: “What do you want? Tell these guys what you want.”

When asked if he'd rather see TNA Impact go head-to-head with Raw or Smackdown, Nash ripped the latter. "I wouldn't want to go against Smackdown," he said. "It's like beating a guy with one leg. That show isn't even watchable—sorry Take (Undertaker)."

LONDON, Ontario – While the Championship Chase to Judgment Day dominated Friday Night SmackDown, it was a good night for two Superstars who remain undefeated on SmackDown – Natalya and Vladimir Kozlov.

Borrowing one from Brett "Hit Man" Hart’s bag of tricks, Natalya used the Sharpshooter to make Kelly Kelly submit. (WATCH) With the decisive win, the blonde powerhouse sent a message to all Divas – including Michelle McCool, who was watching the action closely on a backstage monitor.

In machine-like fashion, Russian juggernaut Vladimir Kozlov made quick work of Canadian local, Phil Atlas. (WATCH) Using raw power, Kozlov put Atlas away with a hard-hitting reverse DDT, improving his unbeaten SmackDown record to 6-0.

With the title vacant, the GM declared The Deadman would have the opportunity to regain the gold in a World Heavyweight title match at Judgment Day.

(novum/ap/tdb)

NEWS FROM THURSDAY’S “iMPACT!” – THE FINAL COUNTDOWN TO SUNDAY’S “SACRIFICE” PAY-PER-VIEW EVENT
    By Bill Banks

There are several major news items to report from Thursday’s “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV as TNA Wrestling counts down the hours until Sunday’s huge “Sacrifice” Pay-Per-View epic event!

    - On the broadcast, TNA Management Director Jim Cornette began the drawings to pair up the “Egotistical 8” for this Sunday’s Deuces Wild Tournament. Sting was up first and he drew “Cowboy” James Storm as his partner. Storm objected and got into a brawl with the icon, leading to a No Disqualification match later on between the two, which Sting won.

    - The second “Egotistical 8” pairing on the broadcast saw Matt Morgan and Kip James named partners for the Pay-Per-View. Morgan and James ended up getting in a war of words and later had a match of their own to hopefully settle their differences before Sunday night. Morgan won the bout with his big boot finisher on Kip James.

    - The remaining stars in the Egotistical 8 (BG James, Booker T, Awesome Kong and Robert Roode) will be paired up this Sunday on Pay-Per-View prior to the tournament kicking off. The tournament will also feature the teams of The Latin American Xchange, Christian Cage & Rhino, Team 3D and AJ Styles & Super Eric all fighting to become the new TNA World Tag Team Champions.

    - Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner promised to put aside their differences for one match as they faced TNA World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash in the main event. After Steiner smashed Nash with his steel pipe, Angle hit the Olympic Slam on “Big Sexy” for the win. However, after the win Angle and Steiner went after each other! This Sunday at Sacrifice, Joe will defend the World Title against Angle and Steiner in a three-way match.

    - Also on the broadcast, Cornette set up an immunity match between the TNA Knockouts involved in this Sunday’s makeover match. Gail Kim won the bout, gaining immunity from having her head shaved if she were to lose the bout this Sunday on Pay-Per-View.

    - A brawl erupted on the broadcast between Team 3D and Christian Cage and Rhino as both tandems fought throughout the arena in a preview of Sundays Deuces Wild Tournament. However, LAX got involved in the fight and ended up taking down both teams!

    - Jimmy Rave of the Rock N’ Rave Infection won an X Division match, besting X Champion “Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams, Consequences Creed, Johnny Devine, Shark Boy and Curry Man. Rave won the match thanks to outside interference from his tag team partner Lance Hoyt.

Updates on The Boogeyman and Big Daddy V

Updates on The Boogeyman and Big Daddy V
Posted by Randy Gordon on 05/06/2008 at 12:27 PM

The entire ECW roster participated in last night's match on Raw with the exception of two wrestlers; The Boogeyman and Big Daddy V. Boogeyman went down with a calf injury last fall -- which has likely since healed -- but creative doesn't appear to be interested in bringing him back. At last word, the plan on The Boogeyman is to only use him for wacky television skits when need be. Regarding Big Daddy V, he was abruptly pulled off the road in the mid-March due to concern from management over his health and chronic obesity. V has been instructed to lose weight before he can return to the ring.
