RAW Breakdown: Sheamus & Bryan, JR's Return, More Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/17/2011 at 01:16 PM
- As noted before, the March 14th episode of WWE RAW did a 3.66 rating with 5.68 million viewers. This week's show was seen by 69% male viewers and in the Males 18-49 demographic, it was up from last week's show with Steve Austin, with a 3.49 rating.
In the segment breakdown, The Rock's segment with the fake John Cena opened the show with a 3.80 rating. The interview with The Miz and his match with The Great Khali lost 386,000 viewers, another decline for The Miz since being pushed as WWE Champion.
The Triple H video and backstage segment with Snooki, John Morrison, Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler lost 297,000 more viewers. Sheamus winning the United States Title from Daniel Bryan gained 226,000 viewers. On the previous show with Steve Austin, Sheamus and Daniel Bryan lost big time following Austin's return segment. The gain for this week's title match shows that probably any mid-card talent would have lost big following Austin's return.
The segment with Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, Brian Christopher, Jim Ross and Jack Swagger gained 928,000 viewers and was RAW's peak rating this week with a 4.11 rating. Randy Orton vs. Mason Ryan lost 621,000 viewers which isn't good. The Drew Carey Hall of Fame announcement, promo from Michael Cole and segment with Snooki lost 301,000 viewers. The Trish Stratus vs. Vickie Guerrero match and post-match with Snooki, Layla, Michelle McCool, John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler gained 406,000 viewers to a 3.77 rating which is an above average increase for that period in the show.
The 15 minute overrun with the main event of Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena and the attack from The Miz lost 270,000 viewers, falling to a 3.59 rating. Considering that Cena is a solid ratings draw, this can be seen as a negative sign for The Miz and/or Del Rio. The last 5 minutes of that 15 minute overrun did come back and gain 290,000 viewers. This could be attributed to people tuning into the USA Network for their next show because RAW usually isn't on at 11:15pm.
We reported earlier this week that Eric Bischoff recently received a promotion in TNA and is now the executive producer of TNA programming. Aside from overseeing the production of TNA programming, Bischoff also serves as the point-man between TNA Wrestling and Spike TV.
In another sign that the Bischoff-Hogan regime is on solid ground in TNA, Hulk Hogan is now claiming that he took control of TNAs creative process three weeks ago.
Hogan had an online exchange this week with former WWE superstar Kizarny, who was asking Hogan why he never got a job opportunity in TNA. Hogan responded:
"@SiNNbODHi just took over creative 3weeks ago, shoot. Now I understand why nobody is using you HH"

TNA star Jeff Hardy was scheduled to appear in a Moore County, North Carolina court on Wednesday morning, but once again, the case was continued to a later date.
This time, the reason for the continuance was that the district attorney's office is still waiting for evidence to come back from the state bureau of investigation.
Hardy is facing multiple drug charges, including felony trafficking, stemming from his September 2009 arrest.

Former Knockout files workers comp claim Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 03/15/2011 at 08:10 PM
Daffney issued a statement today on her Twitter account concerning her status with TNA Wrestling and she confirms that she has parted ways with the organization. Her contract expires today and company officials opted not to renew it. The Scream Queen claims she is unsure if her contract not being renewed is tied to her filing a workers compensation claim against the organization due to injuries she sustained working for them.
Yesterday my picture was taken down off of the TNA roster page. My contract expires today and TNA did not renew it, she wrote. I do not know if it has anything to do with it, but Ive made a Workers Comp claim against them due to injuries Ive sustained in the ring and my lawyers said to not go into anymore details.
At the April 20, 2010 Impact taping, Daffney was injured during a dark match against a novice performer, Miss Betsy (a/k/a Rosie Lottalove). She was taken to a hospital, where she was diagnosed with a deeply bruised sternum, a severe stinger and a concussion. Daffney made her return to TNA at the June 14 Xplosion taping, but would not resurface again until the December 9 episode of Impact. This marked her final appearance for TNA.
- It was speculated that Miss Tessmacher has parted ways with TNA Wrestling considering her pictures were removed from their website on Monday. However, they were added back today, as well as a profile to the roster page.
Daffney and Kiyoshi, however, were not added back to the site.
Backstage Reaction to Jeff Hardy's Situation Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/14/2011 at 08:04 PM
- As reported earlier, TNA Wrestling officials made the decision to send Jeff Hardy home from this week's iMPACT television tapings. Reports from last night's show were that Hardy was in no condition to perform and management decided to cut his match with Sting short.
Unlike the last time there was a question about Hardy's condition (prior to the Final Resolution pay-per-view in December, company officials were going to strip Hardy of the World Heavyweight Championship due to his condition backstage at the event, but then changed their minds) no one within the company has attempted to defend him. Many company employees are very upset about the situation, especially with the decision to allow Hardy to go out in front of the audience considering he stumbled on the ramp and nearly tripped over the ring steps. Others were surprised that an audible wasn't called to "make it up" to the audience.
While Hardy has been sent home from this week's iMPACT tapings, no further decision has been made regarding his future in the organization.
Hardy tweeted last night that "things are op." His next court date in Moore County, North Carolina is scheduled for Wednesday.
The Great Khali def. WWE Champion The Miz by Disqualification Sheamus def. U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan Randy Orton def. Mason Ryan Vickie Guerrero def. Trish Stratus in a No Disqualification Match John Cena def. Alberto Del Rio by Disqualification
ST. LOUIS, Mo. Although St. Louis lies some 900 miles from Seaside Heights, with Jersey Shores Nicole Snooki Polizzi acting as celebrity guest star, there was bound to be some explosive grenades, painful fist pumps and even a couple of cheap shots.
John Cena def. Alberto Del Rio by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS) For the first time ever, John Cena, the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship, faced off against Alberto Del Rio, the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. As the two men squared off, Del Rios former NXT Rookie, Brodus Clay watched from the Mexican elitists corner until the proceedings were interrupted by The Rock. Or at least what looked like The Rock. In actuality, it was WWE Champion The Miz dressed as The Brahma Bull.
The shenanigans distracted Cena, who quickly fell under the attack of Del Rio and Clay. With the Cenation Commander-in-Chief down, Miz joined in the beatdown, eventually leaving Cena a lifeless heap on the arena floor.
Vickie Guerrero def. Trish Stratus in a No Disqualification Match; Six-Person Tag Team Match announced for WrestleMania (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2 | PHOTOS) Vickie Grenade Guerrero is blowin up! The former SmackDown Official Consultant competed against legendary Diva Trish Stratus in a No Disqualification Match for her chance to be hired to Raw with her boyfriend Dolph Ziggler. And with some underhanded assistance from Lay-Cool, she actually pulled it off.
Guerrero celebrated as Raws celebrity guest star, Snooki from Jersey Shore, looked on. Before Vickie and Lay-Cool could further pummel Trish, Snooki slid into the ring and attacked Layla. Thats when John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler charged the ring. Before tempers could boil over further, Guerrero issued a challenge and the Jersey Shore star accepted. At WrestleMania, Snooki, Trish Stratus & John Morrison will take on Layla, Michelle McCool & Dolph Ziggler in a Six-Person Tag Team Match!
Drew Carey announced as a member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2011 (WATCH) Drew Carey, come on down! The host of The Price is Right and entrant in 2001's Royal Rumble joins Shawn Michaels, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, "Bullet" Bob Armstrong and Sunny as an inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2011.
Randy Orton def. Mason Ryan (WATCH | PHOTOS) Three up, three down. First, there was Michael McGillicutty. Next up, David Otunga. And now, a third New Nexus disciple, Mason Ryan, has taken his place at the end of The Vipers boot. Orton managed to defeat all three men in three weeks. And in doing so, he prevented all of them from being in CM Punks corner during his WrestleMania bout against Orton. Not only that, after each of his three respective victories, The Viper punted each man in the skull, in direct defiance of The Second City Savior.
Michael Cole surprised Jerry The King Lawler with a special guest (WATCH | PHOTOS) Have you no shame, Michael Cole? In a repulsive effort to discredit his WrestleMania opponent, Jerry The King Lawler, the Raw announcer brought out Lawlers son, Brian Christopher, to confront him. A former WWE Superstar, Christopher (also known as Grandmaster Sexay) accused his father of being absent from his life growing up and proclaimed that he was the bigger Superstar of the two.
Coming to Lawlers defense was his former announce partner, Jim Ross. As Good Ol J.R. ratcheted up the rhetoric, Cole's trainer, Jack Swagger, attacked. He then slapped an ankle lock on the WWE Hall of Famer before relenting and imploring Cole to slap an ankle lock on Ross himself.
Sheamus def. U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan (WATCH | PHOTOS) Less than a week before St. Patricks Day and the Irishmans luck has taken a turn. After weeks of frustrating losses, Sheamus vowed to win the U.S. Title this week or he would quit WWE. Surviving an arduous match against U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan, The Celtic Warrior prevailed to log his first win in weeks and bring the U.S. Title to Ireland.
The Great Khali def. WWE Champion The Miz by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS) Perhaps knowing that he faced too tall a task, WWE Champion The Miz seized an opportunity against The Great Khali. During their bout, Mizs fired assistant, Alex Riley, entered the ring and attacked The Punjabi Nightmare. The distraction allowed Miz to grab a steel chair, which he used to pummel Khali. Even after it was clear that Khali was incapacitated, Miz continued his attack, demonstrating an unseen level of viciousness.
Raw GM arranged two matches (PHOTOS) WWE Champion The Miz couldnt help himself. The arrogant Superstar ranted and ranted about how much more awesome he is than John Cena, Dwayne The Rock Johnson and anyone else on the Raw roster. Fate would intervene when Raws anonymous General Manager arranged two first-time ever matches. The first will pit No. 1 contender for the WWE Title, John Cena, against the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio. The second contest forces The Cleveland Screamer himself to face The Great Khali.
Dwayne The Rock Johnson addressed John Cena and WWE Champion The Miz (WATCH) After taking several shots across the bow courtesy of John Cena and WWE Champion The Miz, Dwayne The Rock Johnson replied with a few shots of his own. The Great One belittled the two WrestleMania rivals, first cracking on Cenas maturity and then threatening to layeth the SmackDown on Miz.
"Hurricane" Helms involved in bar incident Posted by Dave Mitchell on 03/14/2011 at 04:27 PM
Former WWE star Gregory "Hurricane" Helms was reportedly arrested once again over the weekend, according to North Carolina's WTSB Radio.
Helms was involved in a bar fight on Sunday night and was charged with "simple affray" following an altercation at a bar called "The Rehab".
According to the police report, the other person in the fight reportedly touched Helms' girlfriend which led to the confrontation. Lt. Both men were released at the scene but were ordered to appear in court on April 28 to answer to the charges.
In May 2008, Helms was charged with assault following an alleged incident at another Smithfield club. Those charges were dismissed in July 2008.
Helms responded to the reports on Twitter denying that he was actually arrested: "Can't let Jeff have all the heat! LOL But I didn't get arrested at all. Got a citation for defending my woman. No regrets, no apologies."
- Sheamus declared at this weekend's OKC live event that his "King" persona is dead and long lives The Celtic Warrior. Sheamus cut a promo before his match with Yoshi Tatsu and said ever since he won King of the Ring, he has been on the biggest losing streak of his career.
