TNA Looking To Focus On Younger Wrestlers

TNA Looking To Focus On Younger Wrestlers

Amongst TNA Wrestling officials, there has been talk of changing the focus from "big name" veteran stars of yesteryear to the younger performers in the organization.

One source stated that the members of Fortune—AJ Styles, James Storm, Robert Roode and Kazarian—would be among the top babyfaces in the company and that "it would be interesting to see" what happens when the contracts of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair come due. However, the source added that while creative is behind the proposition, plans could easily change.

The source feels that Impact's ratings in the coming weeks will be the deciding factor in whether the company begins focusing on younger talents.

"The key is the ratings," the source stated. "[Dixie Carter] panics when the ratings dip. If it moves two points, she'll panic."

The source explained that if Impact's ratings fall one point as they did last week (from a 1.3 to a 1.2), the company's creative direction stays course. However, the feeling is that Carter tends to overreact when the ratings slide down two points.

Reason Why Hardy's Court Hearing Was Pushed Back

Reason Why Hardy's Court Hearing Was Pushed Back
Posted by Steve Carrier on 02/16/2011 at 12:28 PM

The reason as to why Jeff Hardy's court hearing in Carthage, N.C. received another continuance is because Hardy's local attorney James Van Camp is representing a client in a murder trial that prevented him from appearing. Hardy did not attend Wednesday's hearing. The next case is scheduled for March 16.

The Rock teased confrontations at WrestleMania with Cena, The Miz and anyone else who was there.

    CM Punk def. John Cena
    Divas Champion Eve def. Natalya
WWE Champion The Miz def. U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan in a Non-Title Match
John Morrison & R-Truth def. David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty
    Randy Orton def. Sheamus

ANAHEIM, California – WrestleMania has always proven itself the most electrifying event in entertainment, period. This year, though, the WWE Universe can expect a significant spike in voltage when the most electrifying man in sports entertainment serves as host on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced as host of WrestleMania XXVII (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Can you smell what Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is cookin'? You will when WrestleMania XXVII kicks off live from Atlanta on April 3. The former WWE Superstar thrilled everyone when he was announced as host of WWE’s biggest event of the year and emerged for an explosive and emotional appearance!

Randy Orton def. Sheamus (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The Viper was forced to slither past more than just Sheamus after his bout ended. Once Randy Orton finally overcame the formidable presence of The Celtic Warrior in their singles bout, he was confronted by all combatants in this Sunday’s Elimination Chamber Match. Orton and Sheamus were joined in the melee by John Morrison, R-Truth, John Cena as well as CM Punk and The New Nexus.

The commotion left a slew of Superstars licking their wounds. It also left Cena and Orton standing tall amid the chaos.

Ariel Winter helped host The Khali Kiss-Cam (WATCH)
Ariel Winter, costar of the new movie The Chaperone, starring Triple H, helped The Punjabi Giant host The Khali Kiss-Cam. It was a Valentine’s Day delight that left Winter the object of Hornswoggle’s affection. The little guy even got a smooch on the cheek as a result. Luck of the Irish!

John Morrison & R-Truth def. David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Enemies became allies when the Raw GM changed the singles match between Elimination Chamber combatants John Morrison and R-Truth. Instead, the Superstars were paired together in a tag team match against David Otunga & Michael McGillicutty. Former tag team partners, Morrison and Truth handled the challenge – and underhanded tricks – with efficiency and went on to defeat The New Nexus disciples.

WWE Champion The Miz def. U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan in a Non-Title Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
It was evident that Daniel Bryan wasn’t all there. During his battle against WWE Champion The Miz, the United States Champion appeared unfocused, perhaps more concerned with his girlfriend Gail Kim, who had been in a scuffle with The Bellas earlier. As a result, The Cleveland Screamer triumphed in the pair’s non-title match just six days before he defends his title against Jerry “The King” Lawler at WWE Elimination Chamber.

    Sheamus attacked Mark Henry (WATCH)
Elimination Chamber mates, you’ve been warned. Prior to his match with Sheamus, Mark Henry was attacked by the Irishman on the entrance ramp. The Celtic Warrior nailed The World’s Strongest Man with a Boot Kick before advising his competition in the Elimination Chamber Match that he’s capable of anything. He then booted Henry again to put an exclamation on the point.

Divas Champion Eve def. Natalya (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2 | PHOTOS)
During the Divas Title Lumberjill Match, current champion Eve managed to chop down her opponent, Natalya. While Eve retained her title, she wasn’t the only Diva cutting down the competition. Gail Kim leveled Nikki Bella, who, along with her sister Brie, had scuffled with her, Eve and Natalya in the locker room area.

Edge confronted Alberto Del Rio; Vickie Guerrero made two major announcements (PHOTOS)
Mark your calendars. This Friday night on SmackDown promises to be interesting indeed. As Alberto Del Rio bragged about his chances in the World Heavyweight Title Match at WrestleMania, Edge confronted him and pummeled the Mexican aristocrat with a series of blows. Then it was Vickie Guerrero’s turn.

SmackDown’s “acting” General Manager informed The Rated-R Superstar that there would be an official World Heavyweight Championship coronation of her boyfriend, Dolph Ziggler, on Friday’s show. She also revealed that she has evidence of Edge assaulting former GM Theodore Long, and that her revelation will cost her ex-husband his job!

CM Punk def. John Cena (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Raw’s anonymous General Manager was at it again. The GM arranged a series of matches involving the six Superstars who will compete in the Raw Elimination Chamber Match. The GM stipulated that if any member of The New Nexus interfered, CM Punk would be eliminated from Sunday’s bout. Also, if any of the Elimination Chamber participants themselves were to interfere, they would be barred from competing inside Satan’s Structure as well, costing them a possible opportunity at a WWE Title Match at WrestleMania XXVII.

In the first match, John Cena and CM Punk battled to a dirty finish. For WWE’s 2010 Superstar of the Year, his demise arrived when Punk tossed a steel chair into the ring to distract the ref. The preachy Superstar then clocked Cena with a wrench before putting him away with a GTS.

Pope on Feud with Joe & Working for WWE/TNA

Pope on Feud with Joe & Working for WWE/TNA
Posted by Steve Carrier on 02/14/2011 at 11:12 AM

    - SunSport in the UK recently spoke to TNA star The Pope. Here are some highlights, courtesy of The Sun:

Promoting his own character in TNA versus WWE:
"It all comes down to the promoting of one's character. That doesn't just involve the person themselves, but it involves the company, as well, that the individual is wrestling for. That plays a big part in what works and what doesn't work.

You watch the company up north and they will take a character and shove it down your throat. They tell you 'this is what we want to work so you're going to cheer or you're going to boo'.

Who remembers Elijah Burke but a diehard fan? Pope has become far more known than Elijah Burke ever was in the three years he was with WWE. What does that say about self-promoting? What does that say about TNA's promoting?"

His current feud with Samoa Joe:
"I want you to keep a close eye on this situation. I'm going to show how it's going to be THE feud to watch in all of wrestling. You got Pope - I mean, you got POPE - then you got Joe. You got the Samoan Submission Machine, the guy is a monster in the ring, with his aggression and everything.

Pope will handle all the juckin' and jivin', pimpin' and the ridin'. Pope will handle all the talking, the charismatic features and abilities that should be applied in the ring. Pope is going to handle all the showboating. Joe's going to handle the rest. I think it's going to be a great complement to each other, being that we're both so different. When we get in the ring, magic is going to happen."

RESULTS FROM TNA WRESTLING'S AGAINST ALL ODDS PAY-PER-VIEW EVENT: NEW WORLD CHAMPION CROWNED
Scroll down for photos from the event

On Sunday night, February 13, TNA Wrestling presented "Against All Odds" live on Pay-Per-View from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida

Missed the epic event? Catch the replay all month long on your Pay-Per-View provider!

    QUICK RESULTS:
    - Kazarian def. Robbie E to retain the X Title
    - Scott Steiner and Beer Money def. Rob Terry, Gunner and Murphy
    - Samoa Joe def. The Pope
    - Madison Rayne def. Mickie James to retain the Knockouts Title
    - Rob Van Dam def. Matt Hardy
    - Bully Ray def. Brother Devon
    - Jeff Jarrett def. Kurt Angle
    - Jeff Hardy def. Mr. Anderson to regain the World Title

    - In the opening bout, Kazarian defeated Robbie E to retain the X Divison Championship. Travel issues prevented Jeremy and Max Buck from being at the PPV, so Robbie E demanded they be counted out and declared himself the #1 Contender. However, as Robbie E was leaving, Kazarian came out to say they would have the bout tonight instead! Kazarian won it with an inverted piledriver finisher.

    - The team of Scott Steiner and TNA World Tag Team Champions Beer Money defeated Rob Terry, Gunner and Murphy after Scott Steiner hit a top rope Frankensteiner for the win!

    - The Pope faced off against Samoa Joe. The Pope took the early advantage, but Joe was able to latch on his Clutch finisher! Realizing he couldn't escape, Pope quickly tapped out to the submission. After the bout, Pope attacked Joe and hit his DDE finisher on Joe into an exposed steel turnbuckle in the corner, busting open Joe's head in the process. After, an irate Joe chased Pope form the ring.

    - Mickie James faced Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne with the gold on the line. Madison tried several times early to hit Mickie with her loaded glove, but couldn't. Later in the bout, Tara came down to distract Mickie, allowing Madison to pull a pair of brass knuckles and use them on Mickie to get the knockout punch! The referee then counted out Mickie - Madison Rayne retains the gold!

    - Matt Morgan came to the ring to call out Hernandez, and the Mexican Superstar obliged! Hernandez told Morgan he left TNA to be with his culture in Mexico, and he realized who he truly is - and now it was time to stick it to the gringos! Hernandez then smashed Morgan and obliterated him, leaving him down in the ring!

    - In an effort to get his revenge on Jeff Hardy, Rob Vam Dam had to go through his brother Matt Hardy first. The two longtime enemies traded plenty of offensive early on, but in the end it was RVD getting the win with the Frog Splash!

    - In a Street Fight, it was Bully Ray vs. Brother Devon. Devon's sons eventually got involved in the bout, helping their dad hit his top rope dive on Bully Ray. But Ray made a comeback and handcuffed Devon to the corner. Devon's sons tried to help him, but Ray attacked them! After a big boot by Ray to Devon's son Terrell, Ray got the easy pin and win. Devon was unable to help his sons as he was still handcuffed! Bully Ray then powerbombed Devon's son through the table! After the heinous attack, TNA staff and security came out to try and help and had to remove his son via stretcher.

    - In an amazing (and grueling!) bout between two sworn enemies, Jeff Jarrett battled Kurt Angle with very important stipulations. If Kurt won, he would regain custody of his kids. If Jarrett won, Kurt would be forced to walk Karen down the aisle to give her away to Jarrett on March 3! The bout featured back-and-forth action, with Karen getting involved several times. Both Jarrett and Angle nearly had each other beat several times. In the end, after nailing Angle with a steel chair, Jarrett managed to roll up Angle for the quick pin and the win. Angle is now forced to give away his ex-wife Karen when the Jarretts renew their vows!

After the bout, Kurt removed his wrestling boots and placed them in the ring and walked out - which Tazz ominously said that meant Angle "was done". Did we just witness Kurt Angle's last match?

    - In the PPV main event, it was Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Hardy with the TNA World Heavyweight Title on the line in a Ladder Match! It as a truly a historic battle between both Hardy and Anderson, with both trading insane moves using not one, but two ladders! In the end, both Hardy and Anderson battled atop the ladder, but they both came crashing down to the mat. Hardy got the upper hand and tossed Anderson out the ring, allowing him to re-climb the ladder and pull down the title! Jeff Hardy is ONCE AGAIN the NEW TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!

World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Dolph Ziggler (World Heavyweight Championship Match)

GREEN BAY, Wisc.– With WWE Elimination Chamber just nine days away, the future of the World Heavyweight Championship was left in a sea of uncertainty. And as SmackDown came to a close, the WWE Universe was left wondering just who is the World Champion?

Prior to the main event, the self-appointed Special Guest Referee Vickie Guerrero reaffirmed that Edge’s Spear was still banned. If he opted to use it against Dolph Ziggler, he would be disqualified and the “acting” GM’s bleach-blond boyfriend would automatically become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

In the peak of the heated championship showdown, Vickie attempted to spear Edge herself, only to hurt her ankle. The Ultimate Opportunist seized the moment and hit the banned Spear on Ziggler two separate times. The Green Bay Packers' Clay Matthews then charged to the ring as a second Special Guest Referee, making the three-count to secure Edge’s victory. However, the outcome of SmackDown’s main event became unclear when the injured Guerrero waved-off The Rated-R Superstar win. Who is the rightful holder of the World Title? Green Bay Packers come to SmackDown

Divas Champion Eve def. Layla (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Still feeling the heat from being pinned by Kelly Kelly in the 3-on-2 Mixed Handicap World Heavyweight Title Match one week ago, Layla fell short yet again. Despite a distraction from Michelle McCool, the English-born Diva ended up losing her match after Divas Champion Eve reversed her pin attempt.

Kane def. JTG (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Just nine days before Kane will attempt to reign supreme over five other Superstars at WWE Elimination Chamber, The Big Red Monster laid waste to JTG with a vicious chokeslam.

Wade Barrett def. Rey Mysterio (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Preparing to represent The Corre at WWE Elimination Chamber, Wade Barrett set out to gain momentum over Rey Mysterio, another participant of the impending sadistic structure. Following a distraction from Justin Gabriel, Barrett did just that, defeating The Ultimate Underdog with Wasteland.

After the match – when The Corre looked ready to continue their assault on Mysterio – Big Show stomped to the aid of the masked Superstar. Though The World’s Largest Athlete wrecked havoc at first, the combined force of his ruthless adversaries left him reeling on the canvas. This included an earth-shattering suplex by Ezekiel Jackson.

Drew McIntyre def. Chris Masters  (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Before Drew McIntyre’s match with Chris Masters could begin, the “Chosen One” took to the microphone, setting the blame for Kelly Kelly getting fired solely on the shoulders of World Heavyweight Champion Edge. Dedicating his match to the ousted Diva, The Sinister Scotsman reigned supreme over Masters with the Future Shock DDT.

Justin Gabriel def. WWE Tag Team Champion Vladimir Kozlov (WATCH | PHOTOS)
One week after The Corre’s Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater scored a non-title victory on WWE Tag Team Champions Vladimir Kozlov & Santino Marella, Gabriel defeated Kozlov with the 450 Splash. Afterward, Barrett hit Wasteland on Santino and Jackson hurled Kozlov to the canvas with absolute force.

Alberto Del Rio def. Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston in a Non-title match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The 2011 Royal Rumble winner Alberto Del Rio celebrated the coming of Valentine’s Day by proclaiming all the love in his heart for “destiny,” which he claimed loved him back. Seeking retribution for Del Rio’s attack one week ago, Kofi Kingston chose the present over future destiny, attacking his smiling foe with the kendo stick and destroying Del Rio’s trinkets of celebration.

As the result of that assault, the two Superstars squared-off. And one week after Del Rio cost Kofi a place at WWE Elimination Chamber, the aristocratic Superstar triumphed over Kingston with the cross armbreaker  Will destiny be on the side of Del Rio in the main event of WrestleMania?
