TNA depending on Sting to help the company

    Credit: Wrestling Observer

TNA officials are hoping that Sting's return to TNA next week will be enough to increase curiosity & interest in the promotion. TNA doesn't really have any other "surprises" left in the bag because Hulk Hogan is definitely not coming in and Rob Van Dam has no interest in wrestling at the moment.

BILOXI, Miss. – They say strange things happen on the night of a full moon. But it didn’t take lunar activity, just the onset of WrestleMania XXIV for wild things to take place on Friday Night SmackDown. A Deadman, a Big Red Monster, an Animal, a Silverback, two 7-foot giants and a Rated-R Superstar were on the prowl, looking to vanquish their opponents on The Road to WrestleMania.

    MVP’s VIP Lounge
For the first time in almost six years, Raw’s Chris Jericho paid a visit to the land of SmackDown as a guest on U.S. Champion MVP’s VIP Lounge. The two Money in the Bank Ladder Match opponents traded verbal barbs, including Jericho poking fun at alternative names for MVP. The self-proclaimed highest paid entertainer tried to elevate himself with a lot of tough talk, but Jericho literally brought him back down to earth when he knocked the United States Champion from atop a ladder in the ring. (WATCH) Is this symbolic of what we’re going to see when the two meet in just nine days at WrestleMania?

    One Punch KO
For yet another week, Big Show crushed those foolish enough to step into the ring with the angry, dominant giant. This week, it was three competitors who fell victim to the 7-footer. Big Show made quick work of the trio, finishing off the least fortunate with a powerful knock-out blow, followed by an easy pin. As the WrestleMania showdown between Big Show and Floyd Mayweather draws near, the risk for the boxing champion appears to increase with each passing week.

    Rampaging Animal
The look in Batista’s eyes on SmackDown told the story: You don’t want to get in his way – not now, not when The Granddaddy of Them All is just nine days away. Deuce & Domino found this out the hard way, as The Animal went on the offensive right from the start of their 2-on-1 Handicap Match. Despite their two-man advantage, the former WWE Tag Team Champions were no match for their opponent, who Batista Bombed Domino for a decisive win. The Animal appears to be right on form to face Umaga in their Raw vs. SmackDown battle for brand supremacy at WrestleMania.

    Tag Titles Intact
Earlier in the week on ECW, things looked promising for the Biscuits ‘n’ Gravy team when Festus pinned The Miz in a Six-Man Tag Match. But with the WWE Tag Team Titles on the line on Friday Night SmackDown, this time it was The Miz who pinned Jesse. The Shaman of Sexy must be content with keeping tag team gold in place, but will be looking for future gold if he can succeed in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

    Also on SmackDown
Just when you thought you were watching two of SmackDown’s biggest men do battle – Kane and Chuck Palumbo – The Great Khali made his way into the arena and made the encounter that much bigger. Khali went right for Kane and delivered a Khali Bomb, ending the match without a victor.

But, the parade of big men wasn’t over, as the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry came into the arena to make his mark. The self-proclaimed Silverback went on a path of destruction, first lifting and slamming the 400-pound Punjabi giant, then laying waste to Palumbo with a massive avalanche, and finally lifting and slamming Kane to the canvas. The four will meet again in the WrestleMania 24-Man Battle Royal. Will Henry be able to repeat this display of dominance, or will one of SmackDown’s big men deliver some payback on The Grandest Stage of Them All?

Although compared to the likes of Khali and Henry, the competitors were smaller in stature, but the animosity was just a fierce when the SmackDown Diva Contest continued on Friday. In an Arm Wrestling Competition, Michelle McCool took first place yet again this week. Then, SmackDown Assistant General Manager Theodore Long delivered the bad news to Victoria fans that she was eliminated from the competition, according to your votes. (WATCH) Next week, the Divas continue to battle it out, hoping to win the custom Beverly Hills Chopper. More on this competition…

    Harmful melody
When World Heavyweight Champion Edge defeated Funaki, he “borrowed” some of Undertaker’s signature moves by mocking the Phenom’s RIP gesture and using the Tombstone Piledriver to dismantle his opponent. After the champion’s easy win, he grabbed the ring mic and let it be known: “Tonight, I step up to a whole new level.”

Later in the night, the Ultimate Opportunist delivered on his promise. Though Undertaker defeated ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero using his blood-drawing submission move, Edge, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder launched a steel-chair attack on The Phenom. In an ugly display, the Rated-R entourage relentlessly pummeled an outnumbered Undertaker, with the champion ultimately knocking out his WrestleMania opponent with a brutal Con-Chair-To.

    Backstage tension among TNA knockouts?
Posted by Bobby Spade on 03/20/2008 at 07:07 PM

    source: ProWrestling.NET

TNA officials held a meeting at last week's Impact tapings to address some backstage tension that exists among a few of female performers.

The bulk of the heat in the locker room is directed towards three TNA mainstays; Gail Kim, Christy Hemme and Traci Brooks. A few of the new women in the company believe that the trio act like they're above most of the newer female performers.

Reportedly, Brooks lashed out at Jamie Szantyr a.k.a. "Velvet Sky" for not holding up her end of the match with Kim, which aired on Impact last week and was taped a few weeks ago.

Another issue brought up involves Trenesha Biggers a.k.a. "Rhaka Khan". Reportedly, she offended the lady who handles makeup for TNA by complaining that she wasn't happy with her work on her.

    Kane def. Elijah Burke
    Kofi Kingston def. James Curtis
CM Punk, Jesse & Festus def. Shelton Benjamin, John Morrison & The Miz
ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero def. Colin Delaney (non-title)

BILOXI, Miss. – The Land of the Extreme was in full-force WrestleMania mode in this super-competitive sports-entertainment season as ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero and the rest of the roster tried to set the stage for The Granddaddy of Them All.

Three of the Superstars who will be competing in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania XXIV faced off in the midst of a Six-Man Tag Team Match, hoping to gain an early advantage. CM Punk seemed a bit concerned in the locker room before the contest, as he observed his dazed partner, Festus. But his other associate for the night, Jesse, assured the Straightedge Superstar he wouldn’t be disappointed once the bell rang. He was right, as the three Superstars overpowered The Miz and two other Money in the Bank contestants, John Morrison & Shelton Benjamin. The win also helped to fuel Jesse & Festus, as the duo is primed to defeat Morrison & The Miz on SmackDown and become WWE Tag Team Champions.

Earlier, the evening kicked off on fire – literally. Kane exploded into the ring where he extinguished Elijah Burke. The Big Red Machine will no doubt be one of the favorites to win the brand-wide 24-Man Battle Royal at ‘Mania. While he certainly has a size advantage over most, he is not the biggest Superstar in the massive, over-the-top rope contest. Matt Striker has already promised that Big Daddy V will shake the foundation of the Florida Citrus Bowl. The Great Khali is sure to make some waves as well. There is really only one word that fittingly describes this destructive clash of titans: Humongous.

Later in the night, Kofi Kingston cruised to another victory on ECW on Sci Fi. The first-ever Jamaican Superstar has yet to be defeated since joining the extreme brand. Tuesday was just another part of the chapter as his unique style and attitude helped him to pin James Curtis. Might Kofi find himself in the 24-Superstar mix at WrestleMania?

While Kingston celebrated on ECW, the “Mexican Warrior” was preparing with WrestleMania on his mind. The ECW Champion capped off the evening by taking pleasure in defeating Colin Delaney in what Guerrero called a preview of what’s to come at WrestleMania. Delaney was denied an ECW contract in the loss and Guerrero was able to make a very loud statement, warning all other competitors in contention to challenge him in a title match later that evening at WrestleMania. (WATCH) More on this story …

    JBL def. Colin Delaney
    Ric Flair def. Mr. McMahon
Candice Michelle & Maria def. Jillian Hall & Victoria
Big Show def. Chris Jericho (disqualification)
John Cena & Randy Orton def. Raw roster (disqualification)

LAFAYETTE, La. – A proud Irishman, Mr. McMahon thought he would have the luck of his ancestors firmly behind him on St. Patrick’s Day when he challenged Ric Flair to a Career Threatening Street Fight. Unfortunately for the Chairman, it looked as if his ancestors may have been too busy celebrating to lend a hand.

Mr. McMahon, who had issued a win-or-retire ultimatum to Flair back in November, came up short against his longtime rival Monday night. With his latest victory, the 16-time World Champion has now leapt seven hurdles tossed in his path, including Randy Orton, Umaga, Triple H, William Regal, MVP and Mr. Kennedy, and kept his career alive. His path to a WrestleMania showdown with his friend, the incomparable Shawn Michaels, seems clear.

It wasn’t easy, though. During the battle, Mr. McMahon used a battery of weapons to bloody the “Nature Boy”: a garbage can, kendo stick and a metal folding chair. Just when it appeared the Chairman would emerge victorious, HBK distracted the ref before the three-count. And in the end, Flair prevailed after nailing the Chairman in the blarney stones and crashing down on him and putting him through a table.  Video | Photos

    Show Business
Big Show stopped by Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel for a chat when things quickly turned ugly. Show challenged the Intercontinental Champion to a title match after equating him with his WrestleMania foe, Floyd “Money” Mayweather. During their match, The World’s Largest Athlete made a statement by overpowering the former Undisputed WWE Champion. An enraged Jericho then got disqualified when he smacked Show across the face with his title gold. However, the giant sent Mayweather a message loud and clear by knocking out Y2J with one punch.  Video

    Carlito Punk’d
In a sneak peek of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania, two of the seven qualifiers, CM Punk and Carlito, offered a glimpse of the fireworks that are sure to ensue. After several near-pinfalls, the Straightedge Superstar finally took out Carlito to capture a slice of momentum heading into Orlando, Fla.

    Supreme Being
Umaga showed why GM William Regal chose him to represent Raw during WrestleMania’s Battle of Brand Supremacy against SmackDown’s representative, Batista. The Samoan Bulldozer showed his dominance by plowing through Paul London & Brian Kendrick after Kendrick seemingly abandoned his partner.

    Alternate Ending
Once again, JBL showed why he’s not exactly the most respected man on the roster. In an attempt to send a message to his WrestleMania Belfast Brawl foe Finlay, the “wrestling god” chose as an alternate the “next toughest Irishman” on the roster, ECW’s poor Colin Delaney, whom JBL proceeded to abuse.  Video | Photos

    Hopping Mad
Less than two weeks before their WrestleMania match, BunnyMania partners Maria & Candice Michelle faced off against Jillian Hall & Victoria. As Candice sealed the win for her team, a jealous Santino Marella fumed at ringside. So enraged about Maria’s Playboy cover was the Italian that he took a cheap shot at Jerry “The King” Lawler before scampering away.  Video | Photos

    Army of Two
Thanks to Triple Threat Takeover rules, Triple H pitted his WrestleMania opponents, John Cena & Randy Orton, against the entire Raw roster. During the match, the two adversaries were forced to work together to eliminate Paul Burchill, Snitsky and Trevor Murdoch among others, before the rest of the roster charged over the ropes, disqualifying themselves and handing Cena & Orton the match. It didn’t end there, though. Triple H had his say, too, when he entered the ring and Pedigreed his WrestleMania competition, standing over their spent bodies with a look of satisfaction.  Full Story | Video | Photos

    Gary Hart overleden

Gary Hart dies at age 66

Gary Hart passed away yesterday afternoon at his home in Euless, TX, after returning from an autograph session in Allentown, PA. He was 66.

Hart would have been among the top wrestling managers of all-time and was a fixture in the Dallas area working for Fritz Von Erich. He was best known for managing people like Bruiser Brody, The Spoiler, Great Kabuki, Chris Adams and the Great Muta.

Hart was the heel manager used when Eddie Graham and booker Bill Watts turned Dusty Rhodes babyface in Florida in 1974. As a booker, he was the mastermind of the building of Kerry Von Erich in Dallas in the early 80s, and booked the famous Christmas 1982 cage match with Ric Flair that ignited the territory.

United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter def. Batista
Chuck Palumbo & The Great Khali def. Kane & Jamie Noble
World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder & ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero def. Ric Flair & Shawn Michaels in a 4-on-2 Handicap Steel Cage Match

CHICAGO – Fans at the Allstate Arena got a taste of the intensity to come in just 16 days at WrestleMania XXIV as the SmackDown Superstars collided in the ring, on the unforgiving concrete arena floor, and within a 15-foot-high steel cage. There is no doubt, The Granddaddy of Them All is near.

Since his comeback, Big Show has continued to demolish any opponent who has dared get in the ring with the 7-foot, 430-pound giant. Friday was no different in a match against two Superstars, as the “World’s Largest Athlete” dispatched Shannon Moore with a direct punch to the head, followed by an effortless pin using his size-22 boot. Next, in what is becoming a common occurrence, the goliath pressed Jimmy Wang Yang overhead and tossed him to the arena floor to cap off his exhibition of force. After Floyd “Money” Mayweather suffered the same fate on Raw (WATCH), the boxing champion must be asking himself if the risk is going to be worth the reward when he does battle with Big Show in “The Biggest and The Best” at WrestleMania.

    Mo’ money
Speaking of the almighty dollar, the opportunity for the last spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania was enough to turn friend into foe as WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and The Miz battled each other on SmackDown. A swinging neckbreaker from Morrison allowed him to pin his teammate, The Miz. (WATCH) With Morrison earning the final spot in Money in the Bank, the stage is now set for one of WWE's most coveted opportunities on The Grandest Stage of Them All. More on The Money in the Bank Ladder Match…

    Samoan spoiler
After finally beating The Animal by count-out one week earlier, United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter battled Batista in a No Holds Barred Title Match. The back-and-forth struggle for dominance included steel chairs, a chokehold with a neckchain, and a slam to the exposed concrete arena floor. But, the odds quickly shifted when Raw’s Umaga inserted himself into the match and delivered a vicious Samoan Spike to The Animal. His sneak attack left the door open for MVP to capitalize on the fallen Batista and get the pinfall. (WATCH)

Earlier in the week, Batista paid a visit to Raw where he delivered a spear to Umaga. (WATCH) After a tumultuous week, both Superstars will be looking to settle the score when they battle for brand supremacy, SmackDown vs. Raw, at WrestleMania.

    Father knows best
While Friday was family night for some, Finlay choked back emotion as he updated fans on his son Hornswoggle’s condition following a recent brutal assault from JBL. For payback for the initial injury – as well as ruthlessly slapping Hornswoggle during a hospital visit – the Fighting Irishman vowed to deliver a beating to JBL at WrestleMania. (WATCH)

    Also on SmackDown
Chuck Palumbo & The Great Khali squared off against Kane & Jamie Noble – who was still nursing injured ribs, courtesy of a Big Show beating last week on SmackDown. Taking advantage of his most vulnerable opponent, Khali slammed Noble to the mat and got the easy pinfall. The match offered a preview of what is to come at WrestleMania, as all four Superstars will be part of a special 24-Man Battle Royal, featuring members of Raw, ECW and SmackDown. The winner of the over-the-top rope encounter will receive an ECW Title Match that same night against ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero.

Plus, the SmackDown Diva Contest continued on Friday – hosted by Playboy cover girl and Chicago’s own, Maria. After learning that Maryse was eliminated based on your votes, the remaining Divas competed in an obstacle course, with Michelle McCool taking first place. (WATCH) More on this competition…

    Safety in numbers
SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero stacked the deck even more in favor of her lover, World Heavyweight Champion Edge, by changing the scheduled 3-on-2 Handicap Steel Cage Match to a 4-on-2 brawl by announcing ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero would join the Ultimate Opportunist’s team. Along with Guerrero & Edge, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder helped relentlessly punish Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels. After the Rated-R Superstar’s team wore down HBK and beat Flair to a bloody pulp, Undertaker emerged within the steel cage to shift the balance of power, but Edge still managed to find the ultimate opportunity.

There are several major news items to report from Thursday’s “iMPACT!” broadcast on SpikeTV as TNA Wrestling heads towards the Sunday, April 13 “Lockdown” Pay-Per-View event:

    - On the broadcast, TNA Management Director Jim Cornette announced the two big main events for the upcoming “Lockdown” Pay-Per-View. The first will be longtime rivals Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, with both superstars locked inside the Six Sides Of Steel cage match. The second will be the annual “Lethal Lockdown” battle, with two teams captained by former friends “The Instant Classic” Christian Cage and Tomko. Cornette told both Cage and Tomko they have until March 27 to submit their teams to Cornette.

    - The program also saw Karen Angle return to “iMPACT!” to make a blockbuster announcement – and she made good on that promise by demanding a separation from her husband Kurt Angle. However, Kurt was ecstatic with the news – telling Karen it was a great idea and that it would give him the opportunity to properly train for Samoa Joe without any of her distractions. Obviously, that wasn’t the response Karen was looking for from her perhaps soon to be former husband!

    - The main event of the broadcast saw Christian Cage team up with Kevin Nash to face TNA World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Tomko. However, Team 3D got involved in the bout and helped AJ and Tomko obliterate Nash and Cage. As 3D exited the ring, they got into a brawl with Survivor: Micronesia star Joel Anderson.

    - Lockdown will also feature the annual “X Division Xscape Match” for the X Division Championship. The first of several qualifying bouts was held on “iMPACT!”, with Curry Man beating “Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams to gain entry. Following the bout, Scott Steiner and Rhaka Khan handcuffed Williams and put a sack over his head before taking him to the back – no doubt part of this mystery “initiation” Steiner keeps referring to.

    - In tag team action, Black Reign and Rellik defeated The Motor City Machineguns. Following the bout, Black Reign called out Eric Young – but it was his alter-ego Super Eric that hit the ring and disposed of the two monsters.

    - The Rock N’ Raven Infection and Christy Hemme beat The LAX and Salinas in a mixed match after Hemme hit Salinas with a guitar and pinned her.

    - Footage also aired of X Division Champion “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal on his date with SoCal Val.

    - Gail Kim defeated Velvet Sky in singles action. Following the bout, Velvet and her partner Angelina Love attacked Gail – until TNA Women’s Champion Awesome Kong came out to inflict damage of her own! Kong put the beatdown on Gail until ODB hit the ring to chase her off.

WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz def. Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney
The Great Khali def. Stevie Richards
    Kofi Kingston def. Deuce
    Festus def. Elijah Burke
CM Punk def. Big Daddy V (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match)

CHICAGO – ECW General Manager Armando Estrada found himself inspired by this week’s WrestleMania Rewind edition of Raw, as WWE’s three brands were represented in one ring. Looking ahead to WrestleMania XXIV, Estrada announced that Superstars from Raw, SmackDown and ECW will compete in a special 24-Man Battle Royal on March 30. But there’s a twist.

“Immediately following that match, the winner will face Chavo Guerrero for the ECW Championship,” Estrada announced. More…

Who will earn a chance at ECW gold? One participant in the WrestleMania XXIV 24-Man Battle Royal will be The Great Khali, who faced ECW Original Stevie Richards on Tuesday night. After Khali quickly picked up the win, Mike Knox entered the ring. In a scene reminiscent of last week’s WWE Mobile on AT&T Exclusive, Knox viciously attacked Richards, leaving him battered in the middle of the ring.

In other Extreme action, CM Punk qualified for the WrestleMania XXIV Money in the Bank Ladder Match by defeating Big Daddy V. During an impressive showing before his hometown crowd, Punk nearly lifted the 500-pounder for a GTS, but his knees buckled under the weight. After a strong fight against the giant, Big Daddy V ended up outside of the ring, leading to Punk’s win via count-out. Before celebrating with his fellow Chi-Town natives, Punk got his trademark GTS in, but against a furious Matt Striker, who was livid the Straightedge Superstar won the spot in the Money in the Bank Match. More…

Also on ECW, The Miz & John Morrison retained WWE Tag Team gold for the second week in a row, this time in an Extreme Rules Match on Tuesday night. Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney’s shopping cart full of Extreme Rules props – including a Chicago Bears helmet and a garbage can – weren’t enough to earn tag team gold when The Miz & Morrison each kept a foot on the ropes while pinned. Then, the champs drove Dreamer through a table and Miz picked up the pin to retain the gold against their underdog challengers.

Later that night, Kofi Kingston kept his momentum alive in a match against Deuce. Talk about trouble in paradise – Domino and Cherry rooted for Deuce from ringside, but their cheers fell on deaf ears as Kingston remained undefeated.

Finally, Elijah Burke thought he could tackle the monster Festus becomes once the bell rings. No such luck for Burke, as Festus’ rage was ignited at the sound of the bell, leading to another win.

Matt Hardy posted a new blog on his MySpace page this afternoon.. Here is one really interesting thing he wrote: "I know two people of different genders who are in a dilemma at this time. One of these individuals I am extremely close with-the other one I used to be. The thing that worries me is that they're both playing around in the deep water and can't swim. I can swim."
