- According to data compiled by Nielson Media Research last night's edition of WWE SmackDown did a 2.7 fast national rating on the CW Network. We will have the final number next week.
There are several major news items to report from Thursdays iMPACT! broadcast on SpikeTV as TNA Wrestling heads towards the Sunday, April 13 Lockdown Pay-Per-View event:
- On the broadcast, TNA Management Director Jim Cornette announced the two big main events for the upcoming Lockdown Pay-Per-View. The first will be longtime rivals Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, with both superstars locked inside the Six Sides Of Steel cage match. The second will be the annual Lethal Lockdown battle, with two teams captained by former friends The Instant Classic Christian Cage and Tomko. Cornette told both Cage and Tomko they have until March 27 to submit their teams to Cornette.
- The program also saw Karen Angle return to iMPACT! to make a blockbuster announcement and she made good on that promise by demanding a separation from her husband Kurt Angle. However, Kurt was ecstatic with the news telling Karen it was a great idea and that it would give him the opportunity to properly train for Samoa Joe without any of her distractions. Obviously, that wasnt the response Karen was looking for from her perhaps soon to be former husband!
- The main event of the broadcast saw Christian Cage team up with Kevin Nash to face TNA World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Tomko. However, Team 3D got involved in the bout and helped AJ and Tomko obliterate Nash and Cage. As 3D exited the ring, they got into a brawl with Survivor: Micronesia star Joel Anderson.
- Lockdown will also feature the annual X Division Xscape Match for the X Division Championship. The first of several qualifying bouts was held on iMPACT!, with Curry Man beating Maple Leaf Muscle Petey Williams to gain entry. Following the bout, Scott Steiner and Rhaka Khan handcuffed Williams and put a sack over his head before taking him to the back no doubt part of this mystery initiation Steiner keeps referring to.
- In tag team action, Black Reign and Rellik defeated The Motor City Machineguns. Following the bout, Black Reign called out Eric Young but it was his alter-ego Super Eric that hit the ring and disposed of the two monsters.
- The Rock N Raven Infection and Christy Hemme beat The LAX and Salinas in a mixed match after Hemme hit Salinas with a guitar and pinned her.
- Footage also aired of X Division Champion Black Machismo Jay Lethal on his date with SoCal Val.
- Gail Kim defeated Velvet Sky in singles action. Following the bout, Velvet and her partner Angelina Love attacked Gail until TNA Womens Champion Awesome Kong came out to inflict damage of her own! Kong put the beatdown on Gail until ODB hit the ring to chase her off.

Who will earn a chance at ECW gold? One participant in the WrestleMania XXIV 24-Man Battle Royal will be The Great Khali, who faced ECW Original Stevie Richards on Tuesday night. In a scene reminiscent of last weeks WWE Mobile on AT&T Exclusive, Knox viciously attacked Richards, leaving him battered in the middle of the ring.
In other Extreme action, CM Punk qualified for the WrestleMania XXIV Money in the Bank Ladder Match by defeating Big Daddy V. During an impressive showing before his hometown crowd, Punk nearly lifted the 500-pounder for a GTS, but his knees buckled under the weight. After a strong fight against the giant, Big Daddy V ended up outside of the ring, leading to Punks win via count-out. Also on ECW, The Miz & John Morrison retained WWE Tag Team gold for the second week in a row, this time in an Extreme Rules Match on Tuesday night. Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaneys shopping cart full of Extreme Rules props including a Chicago Bears helmet and a garbage can werent enough to earn tag team gold when The Miz & Morrison each kept a foot on the ropes while pinned. Then, the champs drove Dreamer through a table and Miz picked up the pin to retain the gold against their underdog challengers.
Later that night, Kofi Kingston kept his momentum alive in a match against Deuce. Talk about trouble in paradise Domino and Cherry rooted for Deuce from ringside, but their cheers fell on deaf ears as Kingston remained undefeated.
Finally, Elijah Burke thought he could tackle the monster Festus becomes once the bell rings. No such luck for Burke, as Festus rage was ignited at the sound of the bell, leading to another win.
Matt Hardy posted a new blog on his MySpace page this afternoon.. Here is one really interesting thing he wrote: "I know two people of different genders who are in a dilemma at this time. One of these individuals I am extremely close with-the other one I used to be. The thing that worries me is that they're both playing around in the deep water and can't swim. I can swim."

MILWAUKEE After six months, seven days and countless Swanton Bombs, Jeff Hardys high-flying reign as Intercontinental Champion has finally been grounded. In a title match at the Bradley Center, the Rainbow-haired Warrior found himself dragged back down to earth by the resolute hands of Chris Jericho.
Ever since his return to competition from a two-year absence last November, Y2J has been anxious to win some gold. After tackling the challenge of the self-proclaimed wrestling god, JBL, Jericho refocused his efforts, determined to recapture that which hed held many times before, the Intercontinental Championship.
While Hardy had been on an enviable winning streak for months, his lion-hearted rival would not be rebuffed. The pair swapped blows, ascending the ropes and taking to the air throughout the match. In the end, however, the determination fixed on Y2Js face proved too overwhelming to surmount.
Jerichos victory will likely reverberate far beyond the Bradley Center, as the new Intercontinental Champion recaptures not only his coveted gold, but also seizes the momentum leading up to this years Money in the Bank Match at WrestleMania XXIV. (VIDEO) (PHOTOS)
Odd Man In When Ric Flair called out his friend and WrestleMania opponent Shawn Michaels, the rhetoric between the two became heated at times, but the mutual respect shone through. Dead Again In a rematch of their chilling Casket Match at WrestleMania 22, Undertaker and Mark Henry rammed heads again. As might be expected, The Deadmans familiarity with the afterlife proved invaluable, as he once again laid waste to the Worlds Strongest Man. (PHOTOS)
Caught in the Crossfire Finlay was prepared to battle Mr. Kennedy in a match pitting two former Money in the Bank participants against each other. Before the match, though, JBL did his best to rile the Irishman, who in turn was disqualified for rapping his shillelagh against the loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis., in order to send a vicious message back to JBL. These two will have one ugly meeting of the minds at WrestleMania XXIV during their Belfast Brawl. (VIDEO) (PHOTOS)
Cold Warriors In a flashback to 1985s WrestleMania I, Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda, better known as U.S. Express, were slated to tackle the menace of Nikolai Volkoff & Iron Sheik. Before the match, however, the tag teams discovered a common threat when a shrieking Jillian Hall attempted to croon the U.S. Express former entrance song, Born in the USA. Rather than endure the Divas caterwauling, Rotunda silenced the Diva with an airplane spin. (VIDEO) (PHOTOS)
Kane Unable With Randy Orton in charge of the Triple Threat Takeover this week, the current WWE Champion arranged a match between Triple H and The Games WrestleMania XV opponent, Kane. The two towering figures rumbled throughout the ring before Triple H pinned Kanes shoulders to the mat and stared down Orton as he watched from the wings. (VIDEO) (PHOTOS)
Boy Troubles It was a beauty of a battle pitting Maria against Melina, each accompanied by their respective BunnyMania tag team partners, Candice Michelle and Beth Phoenix. The Playboy cover girl held her own until her jealous beau Santino Marella showed up ringside and tore in half her Playboy cover. The diversion allowed Melina to take advantage and roll up her stunning adversary. (VIDEO)
Weighing In At the Big Show-Floyd Mayweather weigh-in, The Worlds Largest Athlete outweighed The Greatest Fighter in the World by a daunting 300 pounds. While Show reveled in the disparity, Mayweather made it clear that he would not be intimidated. Thats when a fuming Big Show scooped up the WBC welterweight champion and hurled him into a crowd of fellow Superstars. Show then lumbered out of the ring as trainers attended to Mayweather. Full story (VIDEO) (PHOTOS)
Maintaining Edge Money in the Bank opponents last year at WrestleMania, Edge and CM Punk revisited their rivalry in a non-title match. Perhaps trying to send Ric Flair and his WrestleMania opponent Undertaker a message, the current World Heavyweight Champion edged past Punk for the three-count.
Strike Up the Brand Raw General Manager William Regal wanted to make a statement about the Battle for Brand Supremacy that will take place at this years WrestleMania. He brought Raws representative, Umaga, to the ring. But SmackDown representative, Batista, interrupted the festivities. The two went at it before Batista was able to spear the Samoan Bulldozer out of the ring. Its highly unlikely, though, that Batista has heard the last of Umaga. (VIDEO)
Takeover Turnaround Taking advantage of his Triple Threat Takeover, Randy Orton threw John Cena in a match against his WrestleMania 23 opponent, Shawn Michaels. Things didnt turn out exactly as the Legend Killer had hoped. In an attempt at throwing the victory to HBK, Orton attacked The Showstopper and then went to RKO The Champ. But then Cena turned the tables and leveled Orton with an FU.

- The broadcast featured all the superstars involved in Sunday's main event in singles action. In the first bout, Kevin Nash defeated AJ Styles in a Street Fight after Nash got the win with a chokeslam. In the final bout of the evening, it was a photo finish in the Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage Six Sides Of Steel match as Cage escaped the structure and apparently landed just before Angle did. Following the bout, Tomko and AJ Styles locked Christian inside the cage and brutalized him before Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash were able to get inside to help as iMPACT went off the air!
- TNA Management Director Jim Cornette announced that this Sunday, Booker T will face Robert Roode in a "Stand By Your Man" leather strap match. If Booker wins, Traci Brooks will be able to strap Payton Banks. If Roode wins, Banks will get the same opportunity to lash Brooks!

Here are the quarter hour ratings for last Thursday's Impact: 1.08, 1.05, 1.03, 1.02, 1.12, 0.92, 1.14 and 1.02. Apparently, viewers tuned out after the Angelina Love vs. Awesome Kong match. The Knockouts match drew a 1.14 rating, and the heavily hyped Kurt Angle vs. Kevin Nash main event match preceding it plunged the rating down to a 1.02.
-- TNA Knockout Angel Williams a.k.a. 'Angelina Love' reportedly suffered a concussion, not to mention a broken finger, in her match at last week's Impact taping with Amazing Kong. Williams is not the first TNA Knockout to suffer a concussion during a match with Awesome Kong as back in January, Christy Hemme had a medical evaluation, and during the evaluation, she told the doctor that she believed she had suffered a concussion in a match with Kong a few weeks prior. The injury was serious as the doctor wouldn't clear Christy to come to ringside or bump, and she was forced to miss a set of Impact tapings.
