- Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Tomko wasn't re-signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling because they are struggling financially. Tomko was said to be very disappointed as he really enjoyed working in Japan for the company.
Here are the quarter hour ratings for last Thursday's Impact: 1.08, 1.05, 1.03, 1.02, 1.12, 0.92, 1.14 and 1.02. Apparently, viewers tuned out after the Angelina Love vs. Awesome Kong match. The Knockouts match drew a 1.14 rating, and the heavily hyped Kurt Angle vs. Kevin Nash main event match preceding it plunged the rating down to a 1.02.
-- TNA Knockout Angel Williams a.k.a. 'Angelina Love' reportedly suffered a concussion, not to mention a broken finger, in her match at last week's Impact taping with Amazing Kong. Williams is not the first TNA Knockout to suffer a concussion during a match with Awesome Kong as back in January, Christy Hemme had a medical evaluation, and during the evaluation, she told the doctor that she believed she had suffered a concussion in a match with Kong a few weeks prior. The injury was serious as the doctor wouldn't clear Christy to come to ringside or bump, and she was forced to miss a set of Impact tapings.
WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz def. Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney (disqualification) Shelton Benjamin def. Stevie Richards Kane def. James Curtis ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero def. CM Punk
CLEVELAND Gold remained around familiar waists on Tuesday night, leaving hopeful Superstars with missed opportunities but perhaps only for now.
In the evenings first contest, WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz put their titles on the line in a rematch, still reeling from their loss to Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney the previous week. Vowing not to fall to the ECW Original and the young athlete again, Morrison & The Miz followed through on their promise and left the arena the same way they went in: As champions. (WATCH)
Though discouraging to Delaney who is fresh off his first taste of victory, the defeat may serve as motivation next week for his championship rematch. For now, Colin has only this loss to think about, which came when he and Dreamer were disqualified on his account. Next Tuesday, however, Dreamer & Delaney will face the WWE Tag Team Champions in an Extreme Rules Match, allowing Delaney to use whatever he wants and giving the challengers an advantage thanks to the ECW Originals experience. See Delaney & Dreamer in a WWE.com exclusive video
Following the WWE Tag Team Championship Match, Stevie Richards aimed to prove he can compete on a level better than the one he left off from. Despite returning from nine months of recovery due to throat surgery, the ECW Original had been able to enjoy three wins in a row. That streak came to a halt when he faced the self-proclaimed Gold Standard of ECW, Shelton Benjamin. Still, if Richards can endure serious surgery, he surely can endure a tough loss. As for Benjamin, he has enjoyed a great deal of success since joining the Land of the Extreme, and nobody has been able to slow him down, let alone stop him. The night marked one week closer that Benjamin is to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania.
The hottest confrontation of the night came when Layla tried to put Kelly Kelly in her place, in the locker room. After the blond bombshell called her rival a liar when she claimed she was once asked to model for Playboy, Layla slapped her and the two commenced in a fierce catfight. Kofi Kinston, along with ECW officials, separated the Divas, but its hard to imagine they are done settling their differences.
In other action, Kane defeated James Curtis, but did so with an extra spectator in the audience. Chuck Palumbo circled the ring, stalking the Big Red Machine during the contest. After reeking plenty of havoc on his former friend Michelle McCool and Jamie Noble on SmackDown, what could be Palumbos intentions?
ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero enjoyed proving himself once again in the main event when he successfully defended his title against CM Punk. The Straightedge Superstar doesnt plan to stop trying, though, until that gold is secure on his body. (WATCH) More on this story

Ashley said that she wants to work but she cannot get medical clearance to do so. Massaro will fly back to Texas this weekend to to see an orthopedic surgeon once again to further assess her injury.
Big Show def. Brandon Hill Ric Flair & Shawn Michaels def. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch Umaga def. Super Crazy John Cena def. Mr. Kennedy Carlito def. Cody Rhodes (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match) Triple H def. Randy Orton (disqualification)
INDIANAPOLIS As WrestleMania XXIV draws nearer, two truths grow increasingly evident: Big Show refuses to relent, and Floyd Money Mayweather refuses to be intimidated. These combustible realities were on stark display Monday night as The Worlds Largest Athlete overwhelmed a professional fighter, and his WrestleMania opponent, the WBC welterweight champion, vowed to show why he is The Greatest Fighter in the World.
Big Show arranged the exhibition with fighter Brandon The Thrill Hill. Big Shows choosing to battle the 5-foot-7, 150-pounder who was similar in size and stature to Mayweather was no coincidence. The former WWE Champion appeared intent on sending a message as he overpowered his opponent in an MMA-style match that could be won by pinfall, submission or knockout.
Mayweather, however, was not impressed. And he reminded the world that The Thrill was not Money.
I broke your nose, the WBC welterweight champion told Big Show after watching the exhibition via satellite. And at WrestleMania, Im going to break your jaw.
An incensed Big Show had heard enough. To put an exclamation point on his winning statement, the 7-foot, 450-pound giant lifted his hapless opponent overhead and tossed him over the ropes and onto the cold, hard concrete below.
Later in the night, Mayweather addressed pundits who wondered whether the reward was worth the risk. Money is risking his health, his career and millions in potential earnings. But he is a showman and a man and a brave warrior. He said he would defy the odds and bring Big Show to his knees.
Im here to dominate, the welterweight champion told Jerry The King Lawler.
Big Show will no doubt have a thing or two to say about that. The two will meet again during an official WrestleMania weigh-in next week during a special three-hour edition of Raw. (WATCH) (PHOTOS)
Getting a Leg Up Before Ric Flair faces Shawn Michaels in a Career Threatening Match at WrestleMania, the two longtime friends joined forces in a tag team match against Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch. Mutual respect was shown between the 16-time World Champion and The Showstopper when Flair locked Cade into the Figure-Four Leglock and Michaels, not to be outdone, locked Murdoch in a leglock submission hold of his own.
However, after the match, HBK stressed to his idol that he did not want to face him at WrestleMania and be the man to end Flairs career. However, The Showstopper also warned the Nature Boy that his show would be stopped if he continued to pursue their match. (PHOTOS)
Brand Loyalty Umaga offered a scary glimpse into what Batista might expect at WrestleMania when the Samoan Bulldozer crashes headlong into The Animal in a Raw vs. SmackDown battle of the brands. Umaga disposed of his opponent, Super Crazy, in a quick, brutal display. For his part, Batista sent a note stating that theres nothing hed rather do than face Umaga for brand bragging rights. (PHOTOS)
Heeeeeres Jericho Chris Jericho brought his classic talk show, The Highlight Reel, back to Raw and welcomed his first guest, Jeff Hardy. Unfortunately for Y2J, their interview didnt go according to plan. After stating that there will be no friends at their Money in the Bank Match at WrestleMania, Hardy proved it by dropping his host with a Twist of Fate. (WATCH) (PHOTOS)
Bounced Check John Cena sought retribution against Mr. Kennedy after last week when the loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis., hit the former WWE Champion with a post-match Mic Check. Last years Mr. Money in the Bank showed why hes an up-and-comer, but The Champs STFU proved too much for him to bear. (WATCH) (PHOTOS)
Naked Jealousy Santino Marella tried to sabotage the unveiling of Marias Playboy cover, but his girlfriend wouldnt be denied. Instead, Candice Michelle helped to reveal the cover of the magazine that hits newsstands March 7. Maria and Candice will also team up in a BunnyMania Lumberjack Match at WrestleMania pitting the two Playboy cover girls against Womens Champion Beth Phoenix & Melina with a bevy of Divas surrounding the ring. It was also announced that Snoop Dogg will serve as Master of Ceremonies. (WATCH) (PHOTOS)
Cool Money Carlito dodged several near falls in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match against Cody Rhodes. The Caribbean Bad Apple applied a Backstabber on one-half of the World Tag Team Champions to earn the three-count and a spot at WrestleMania. (WATCH) (PHOTOS)
Family Outrage Finlay finally admitted that he, not Mr. McMahon, is the father of Hornswoggle. JBL then showed up via satellite from Hornswoggles hospital room, where he slapped the little guy and challenged Finlay to a match at WrestleMania, which the Irishman quickly accepted. (WATCH) (PHOTOS) (Match Preview)
Extreme Takeover Raw General Manager William Regal allowed a Triple Threat Takeover Monday night, which will permit each of the three Superstars involved in WrestleManias main event Randy Orton, Triple H and John Cena to establish rules for their matches leading up to the March 30 extravaganza. This week, Cena was in charge and pitted the current WWE Champion against The Game. During the match, The Champ charged into the ring and lifted Triple H overhead for an FU. Then, Orton snuck up on Cena and dropped him with a RKO. As he raised WWE Championship gold overhead, Orton cast a cold stare at the two bodies lying prone on the mat.
The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that Matt Hardy had elbow surgery while he was out recovering from a burst appendix in November. This is one of the reasons why Hardy was out of action for so long, however, is now said to be 100%.

Credit: Wrestling Observer

Chris Jericho has an injury scare Posted by Randy Gordon on 03/02/2008 at 02:51 PM

At Friday night's WWE house show in Cape Girardeau, MO Chris Jericho seemed to get injured. Jericho went for the Lionsault but Mr. Kennedy was too far away and Y2J landed akwardly on his head. The referee tossed up the X sign with his hands a few times but Jericho was able to get back up and lock on a very poor Walls of Jericho for the win. Following the match several trainers came out and helped him to the back.
Jericho did compete at last night's event in Louisville, KY so he seems to be fine. Those in attendance in MO though, said it was a very scary situation and it seems as if Y2J is very lucky he wasn't majorly injured.
- According to data compiled by Nielson Media Research, last night's edition of WWE SmackDown did a 2.6 fast national broadcast rating. We will have the final number next week.
TUCSON, Ariz. Competing for the first time in more than a year, Big Show wasted little time in sending a loud message to all the Superstars of WWE and, more importantly, his WrestleMania XXIV opponent Floyd Mayweather. The Worlds Largest Athlete is back and bigger, stronger and more dangerous than ever.
In a Handicap Match, Big Show laid waste to his unfortunate opponents, decimating two challengers in dominating fashion. With just four weeks until WWE descends onto Orlando, Fla., the giant showed the world why he has always been one of the most feared competitors in sports-entertainment. Big Show KOd his competition with a barrage of left and right hooks and other boxing moves for the impressive victory, and then had some choice words for Mayweather, warning, I am going to break Floyd Mayweather in two at WrestleMania. This Monday on Raw, Show will have another chance to display his power when he faces a professional fighter in the ring.
Branded for war Moments before Batista and tag team partner Kane entered into action against United States Champion MVP and The Great Khali, The Animal approached General Manager Vickie Guerrero and requested to represent SmackDown against Raws Umaga at WrestleMania XXIV. SmackDown Diva Maryse had been in the GMs office currying the favor of Vickie and encouraged Guerrero, who then granted Batista his wish. The former World Champion will take on the Samoan Bulldozer in the Citrus Bowl. Later, with a focused attack, Batista & Kane defeated Khali & MVP when The Animal displayed his unbelievable strength by delivering both a spinebuster and a spear to the Punjabi giant to seal the win.
Changing the face of winning Jesse & Festus got the biggest win yet in their impressive winning streak when they defeated WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison in a non-title affair. The biscuits n gravy duos victory may have proven to the champions that they can't brush aside the awkward tandem, and may have given unexpected momentum to another team looking to win the titles, Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney, who challenge the champions Tuesday on ECW on Sci Fi. As seen in the WWE Mobile on AT&T Exclusive, the ECW pair might not be the only team with gold in their sights next week. More...
Also on SmackDown With Michelle McCool by his side, Jamie Noble headed to the ring to take on Chuck Palumbo, hopeful to gain retribution for the injury he sustained at the hands of Palumbo weeks ago on SmackDown. With his new attitude feeding his rage, revved-up Superstar Palumbo once again took his aggression out on Noble, leaving him punished in the center of the ring after a devastating Full Throttle.
In other action, Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore faced Deuce & Domino on Friday night, and SmackDowns resident redneck Yang picked up the win for his team when he delivered a Moonsault to Deuce.
Out for blood After curtailing a battle between Big Daddy V and Balls Mahoney, Undertaker paved his own dark path to WrestleMania XXIV on Friday night. Letting nothing stand in his way of getting to World Heavyweight Champion Edge, The Phenom decimated Big Daddy V and Balls, and then demanded an immediate start to his match with Zack Ryder. With Edge and Curt Hawkins at ringside, The Deadman destroyed Ryder, but was left open for an attack from the Rated-R Superstar. The No. 1 contender wouldnt be kept down, however, and Undertaker fought back and bloodied Edges minions with his dangerous submission maneuver while the Ultimate Opportunist fled for the second week in a row.
(belga/edp)
Thursday, 20 September 2007 NEWS AND VIDEO FROM THURSDAYS iMPACT! BROADCAST ON SPIKE TV The road to the Destination X Pay-Per-View continues By Bill Banks
There are several major news items for report from Thursdays iMPACT! broadcast as TNA Wrestling counts down the days until the March 9 Destination X Pay-Per-View event:
- On Thursdays broadcast, Kurt and Karen Angle were still arguing about their career and marriage. In fact, Kurt was especially mean-spirited to Karen, making her cry as a result. Karens other husband AJ Styles came to her defense, with AJ even asking Angle to apologize to her, but the TNA World Heavyweight Champion wouldnt hear any of it.
- Kurt Angle faced Kevin Nash in the main event on the broadcast Nash looked to have it won after hitting his Powerbomb on Angle, but referee Earl Hebner was on the outside (along with AJ Styles) tending to Karen Angle, who had been knocked down inadvertently by Angle during the bout. Kurt Angle took that opportunity to hit Nash with a low blow and score the pin with the Olympic Slam.
- In addition, Booker T called out Robert Roode to settle their war once and for all, but Roodes manager Payton Banks came out instead telling Booker that Roode was en route and would arrive later. When Payton ended up slapping Booker, Traci Brooks came out and the two ladies brawled in a catfight! Later in the broadcast, all four TNA superstars ended up fighting again and this time Roode and Banks handcuffed Booker and Brooks to the ring ropes and beat them unmercifully!
- Shark Boy and Curry Man were scheduled to face Team 3D, but neither Brother Ray nor Brother Devon could make weight this week. As a result, Shark Boy put out an open challenge, which was answered by Black Reign and Rellik. Team 3D and Johnny Devine got involved in the bout as did Kaz and Eric Young...but once again, Young was afraid to get near Rellik and Black Reign!
- In tag team action, Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner (along with Rhaka Khan) and Maple Leaf Muscle Petey Williams defeated X Division Champion Black Machismo Jay Lethal and The Guru Sonjay Dutt when Williams beat Dutt with the Canadian Destroyer. Prior to the bout, Steiner told Williams that he was almost ready for his initiation but Steiner didnt elaborate what that meant.
- Also on the broadcast, Eric Young faced James Stom in a Ladder Match for the Drinking Championship. Due to an apparent fear of heights, Storm was hesitant to climb the ladder so Jacqueline did it for him and pulled down the title! However, after the bout The War Machine Rhino hit the ring and nailed Storm with a GORE and also took the Drinking Championship in the process!
- In singles action, TNA Womens Champion Awesome Kong annihilated Angelina Love, even injuring her during the bout. After the match, both ODB and Gail Kim hit the ring to attempt to inflict damage on Kong before the three-way title match at Destination X.
This weeks edition of ECW on Sci Fi featuring Santino Marella scored a 1.27 rating. This is down from last weeks 1.43 rating which featured The Nature Boy, Ric Flair.
Judas Mesias may be on his way out of TNA. The word going around backstage at Tuesday's Impact tapings was that Mesias has worked his last match with the company for a while. Both sides are open to working together in the future, but several people backstage are under the impression that they don't have any future plans for him.
After joining TNA last fall, Mesias is still working without a contract. Mesias is one of a few talents working under a pay-per-appearance deal with TNA. The reason for this is that some non-contracted wrestlers enjoy the freedom of working non-TNA shows, and they wouldn't be able to work certain shows if they signed with TNA. In Mesias' case, he's affiliated with the AAA promotion in Mexico, which is a major promotion there. If he signed a contract with TNA, he probably wouldn't be allowed to work there anymore.
Mesias makes approximately $300 more per match in TNA than in AAA, so that figures to around $500 per shot. However he can wrestle up to five nights a week in Mexico, and earn nearly $100,000 per year there, which is presumably more than TNA is willing to pay him.
Kofi Kingston & Kelly Kelly def. Santino Marella & Layla Stevie Richards def. Mike Knox Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney def. WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz (Non-title) CM Punk def. Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin (Triple Threat Match; No. 1 Contender)
TUCSON, Ariz. At No Way Out, Chavo Guerrero established himself as ECW Champion, but he didnt put to an end the mix of Superstars coveting and fighting for his title.
Speaking of mixes, a Mixed Tag Team Match started the evening as Kofi Kingston & Kelly Kelly took on Santino Marella & Layla. Considering the blond beauty has struggled against her rival Diva throughout recent months, the Jamaican Superstar was a smart competitor to team up with. Set on ridding his ECW paradise of any trouble, Kingston has yet to lose a match since joining the extreme brand. Tonight was nothing different.
Kellys three-count pin of Layla brought her a second consecutive victory against her former fellow Extreme Exposé member, leaving Layla to ponder what she must do to contain the blonde once again. For Santino, the loss simply rubs salt into the wound already opened by his anger over his girlfriend, Maria, posing in Playboy. More on Maria's Playboy experience ...
In other tag team action, Tommy Dreamer helped Colin Delaney experience his first taste of victory on ECW on Sci Fi in their first attempt at teaming up. The duo faced their all-too-familiar rivals, the WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz, in hopes of getting the better of the overconfident pair. When the ECW Original got the pin, the arena exploded in celebration. No one was happier than Delaney, who enjoyed his first win since strutting to ring to suffer painful defeats at the hands of giant after giant. (WATCH)
The win was extra special, coming at the expense of the champions, who will put their gold on the line next week against Dreamer & Delaney to prove this contest was nothing more than a fluke. If the WWE Tag Team Champions are wrong, be ready to see the young, small-framed Superstar hoisting a title in the air alongside the fighting Original the next time ECW on Sci Fi airs.
Dreamers fellow ECW Original Stevie Richards picked up a win as well, as he defeated Mike Knox en route to his third straight victory since returning to the squared circle. Richards has showed no signs of slowing down after his nine-month recovery period from throat surgery.
The main event pitted CM Punk, Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin in a Triple Threat Match with an ECW Title opportunity on the line. The Straightedge Superstar has once again placed himself in the perfect situation. Will he win back his gold when he squares off against Chavo Guerrero next Tuesday? Catch ECW on Sci Fi at 10/9 CT and find out. (WATCH)
