Injury updates on Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler

Injury updates on Rey Mysterio and Dolph Ziggler
Posted by Roscoe De Soto on 12/08/2010 at 05:35 PM

    Credit: F4WOnline.com

    - Dolph Ziggler returned to action this past week after being kept out since the Survivor Series pay-per-view, due to a concussion from a stiff Kaval kick in their Intercontinental Title match. Ziggler said on Twitter that he wasn't injured but sources say otherwise.

    - Rey Mysterio has recovered from his recent ear infection but has been having shoulder problems this past week. Rey visited Dr. James Andrews who diagnosed the injury as a tear, but didn't feel like Rey needed surgery.

Rey was told he needed rehab on the shoulder and that he needed to take a few weeks off. Rey still worked this past weekend and the SmackDown tapings. Rey's match with Alberto Del Rio at TLC was originally planned to be a Ladder Match but that was changed due to the injury.

    - Several other WWE stars are currently working banged up. One wrestler notes that a lot of the talents need time off and this year they don't have the usual Christmas break that they've had in the past.

It's time to see the fallout from Final Resolution. What's going on with the world title after Jeff Hardy successfully retains the belt after Matt Morgan gets screwed over again.

The show begins with a video recap of the main event from Sunday.

Video from earlier in the day of Eric Bischoff speaking with the men of Fortune and Immortal about seriousness of getting the titles within the factions because of the impending legal issues between Hulk Hogan and Dixie Carter. Bischoff addresses AJ Styles about losing the TV Title and tells the group there will be no more losers. Rhino enters asking for the promised contract. Bischoff denies him the contract and Rhino attacks. Men of the stable drag Rhino out of the office.

    In-Ring Segment

The men now make their way to the ring where Bischoff introduces Hardy. After Bischoff praises Hardy he asks Morgan to come out. Morgan brings a steel pipe with him as he enters the ring. Bischoff says that things are all about fair play right now due to the legal troubles. "Easy E" says that Morgan could have actually won the match but he had a bad referee in Mr. Anderson. Bischoff spoke it over with Ric Flair and someone who will remain nameless and decided that Morgan and Anderson will fight to see who faces Hardy. Morgan informs Bischoff that Anderson isn't medically cleared yet. Bischoff doesn't care. If Anderson doesn't fight then he's done.

    Backstage Segment

Brother Ray tells that anybody could have been D-Von, he was that good. He'll prove it tonight as he has another black guy who does his best D-Von impersonation.

It's announced that due to passport issues, Hamada was unable to make it to the show and due to this fact, Hamada and Taylor Wilde are stripped of the Knockouts Tag Team Championships and there will be a tag tournament starting tonight.

Match #1: Team 3D vs. Ink Inc.

Ray and the random black guy filling in for D-Von attack Ink Inc. before the bell sounds. "D-Von" uses D-Von's spinning elbow strike on Shannon Moore. Ray is giving orders to his partner. Jesse Neal hits "D-Von" with two clotheslines and slams him down to the mat for a near fall. Action breaks down as all four are in the ring. Neal is slammed by Ray and "D-Von" hits the "What's Up?" We get the vintage table cry from Ray but Ink Inc. takes this opportunity to attack. Mooregasm on "D-Von".

    Winner: Ink Inc. via pinfall

Ray kicks his partner in the back of the head after the match and is about to slam him through the table before Ray hightails it from the ring.

Tara is prepping for her performance with Generation Me. They will be her dancers. More cougar behavior from Tara.

    Tara's Performance

Mickie James attacks Tara during Tara's performance of "Broken". Generation Me holds Mickie and Tara takes her shots before Eric Young comes out to fight Generation Me to the back. James and Tara battle until security breaks it up. James is tired of security breaking things up. James wants a steel cage match and wants it tonight.

    Backstage Segment

Beer Money informs Gunnar and Murphy to send a message to the Motor City Machine Guns by softening them up for Beer Money's title shot at Genesis.

Jeff Jarrett announces that the Double J, Double M-A challenge returns and a lucky fan can win some of his money.

Match #2: Gunnar and Murphy vs. Motor City Machine Guns

Beer Money joins the announce desk and their arrival distracts the Guns long enough for Gunnar and Murphy to take the advantage. The Guns are being grounded early on. Gunnar and Murphy make frequent tags and work over Alex Shelley. Chris Sabin gets tagged in after Shelley avoids a splash from Gunnar (I think). Sabin is able to take it both men, eliminating one from the ring and the Guns hit Skull & Crossbones on the other.

Winner: Motor City Machine Guns via pinfall

    Backstage Segment

Angelina Love and Velvet Sky are talking before the arrival of Winter, who Velvet finally sees. Winter wishes Love luck and Sky is confused as to who she was and why she seemed so close with Love.

Morgan finally finds Anderson and wants to know what Anderson's decision is. Anderson says he'll wrestle and Morgan is upset. He brings up what he lost out on by standing up to Bischoff but Anderson considers the concussion an "oowie". Anderson has a doctor who will clear him to wrestle but Morgan calls b.s.

Match #3: Sarita and Daffney vs. The Beautiful People - Knockouts Tag Team Champion Tournament

Sarita gets on the microphone to verbally attack Velvet due to Velvet always having to run to hide behind Love. Sky tackles Sarita during the speech and the match is on. Sky slams Sarita to her face. Sarita is then taken down and Sky works on the arm. Sarita slaps Velvet a few times after she was able to knock her down thanks to Daffney's interference. Delayed body slam from Daffney. Sarita is back in and she does more trash talking that allows Sky to fight back. Love gets tagged in and she and Daffney fight it out before Love hits the Lights Out for the win.

Winner: The Beautiful People via pinfall

    Backstage Segment

AJ Styles tells Abyss to go out there, destroy Douglas Williams and return the title to Styles.

Match #4: Abyss vs. Douglas Williams - TNA Television Championship match

Dropkick from Williams sends Abyss to the corner. Strikes from Williams before Abyss pushes him back. Williams continues attacking before Abyss delivers a boot. Big slap to the chest from Abyss before he whips Douglas into the turnbuckles. Sunset flip pin attempt by Williams but Abyss is too strong. Abyss tries to sit down but Abyss moves out of the way. Uppercuts and strikes from Williams. Flying elbow strike from the top rope. Williams tries for the Rolling Chaos Theory but Abyss holds on to the turnbuckle and actually rips the turnbuckle off. Abyss tries to splash Williams but Williams evades and Abyss hits the exposed ring. Williams rolls him up for the pin.

AJ catches Williams from behind and Styles Clashes him on the ramp.

    Winner: Douglas Williams via pinfall

    Double J Double M-A Challenge

Jarrett is willing to hand a $100K to anyone in the Impact Zone who can make him tap out. Jeremy Borash points out two big guys in the crowd but Jarrett picks out a smaller man to get into the ring. Jarrett slaps the guy (Mike) and then grounds and pounds before Mike taps out to the rear-naked choke.

    Winner: Jeff Jarrett

Before we get to the steel cage match we recount the past few months in the career of Rob Van Dam.

Main Event: Mickie James vs. Tara - Steel Cage match

James doesn't wait until Tara gets inside the ring and the fight starts on the ringside area. Clothesline from James and Tara falls on the exposed ground. Tara is sent into the ring before commercials. After the break Tara is able to drive Mickie to to the mat for a near fall. Tara tires to send Mickie into the cage but Mickie counters and tries to do the same thing to Tara. Tara's head is yanked back as Mickie slams her to the mat. Low dropkick from Mickie.

Moments later Tara hits a snap suplex with a float over into a guillotine choke. Tara gets to her feet and Mickie drives her into the corner. Mickie tries to hit her head scissor from the corner but Tara has it scouted. Mickie is attempting to climb the cage but Tara is there with her. It looks like Mickie attempts the head scissor from halfway up the cage but it ends up being a bad fall for both ladies.

Tara is up first and Tara is able to toss Mickie into the side of the cage twice. Tara tries to leave the ring but Mickie is able to grab hold of her before she gets to the door. iMPACT! ends here and we continue (surprise, surprise) in ReAction. It's Tara's time to be tossed into the cage (twice) after Mickie evades the Widow's Peak.

We get back to the top rope and James is attempting to exit. Tara is kicked off the top rope and Mickie climbs to the top of the cage. Instead of leaving she turns and launches herself at Tara, connecting with a Thesz Press.

    Winner: Mickie James via pinfall

Eve def. Alicia Fox (WATCH | PHOTOS)
All of the Divas on the WWE roster are competitive, but few are as vicious as Alicia Fox. Athletic and tough with a mean streak a mile long, the Florida native has the ability and the will to tear her opponents apart and the gorgeous Eve was fully aware of this going into tonight’s bout. In fact, Eve had experienced this brutality before when Alicia won her Divas Championship in a Fatal 4-Way Match in June. But instead of being intimidated by The Foxy Floridian, Eve came prepared. After fighting through all of Alicia’s devastating strikes, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert found the opportunity to go for a huge moonsault and nailed the high-risk maneuver for the win.

Ezekiel Jackson def. Zack Ryder (WATCH | PHOTOS)
On the Nov. 1 edition of Raw from New York’s Nassau Coliseum, Zack Ryder received a terrible homecoming when he was brutalized by Ezekiel Jackson. The Long Island Loudmouth clearly had that beating in mind when he stepped into the ring with Big Zeke tonight. Displaying a mean streak not often seen, the arrogant Ryder attacked his oversized opponent with a primal rage, but the Raw Superstar’s assault simply wasn’t enough. The Guyanese Goliath simply weathered the offense storm before driving Ryder into the mat to claim another victim.

Trent Barreta def. Curt Hawkins (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In the past few weeks on “WWE Superstars,” Curt Hawkins and Trent Barreta have traded victories in a pair of heated contests. But the animosity between these rivals extends far beyond the squared circle. Former friends and training partners, the SmackDown Superstars built up a hostility toward each other that fully showed itself in tonight’s brutal match. Hungry for victory, Hawkins hit Barreta with everything he had, but his talented opponent would not be denied. After scoring with a breathtaking moonsault on the outside of the ring, Barreta nailed a wild tornado DDT to win tonight’s battle — and the war.

Tyler Reks def. JTG (WATCH | PHOTOS)
When it comes to swagger, few Superstars in the SmackDown locker-room can compare to JTG. But it takes more than style and flash to beat a monster as menacing as Tyler Reks. Still, the Brooklyn native refused to let Reks’ growing infamy intimidate him and took a fun-loving approach to the contest. JTG was so lighthearted, he even took the time to throw a pair of dice into the WWE Universe during the match. This confidence ultimately led to JTG’s downfall, however, as Reks hit the destructive “Burning Hammer” for the victory.

    Divas Champion Natalya def. Melina
Randy Orton def. Alex Riley by Disqualification

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Before the American Revolution began in 1774, the kingdom of Great Britain assumed they had their American subjects squarely under thumb. And we all know how that turned out. Fast forward 200 years, and Englishman Wade Barrett appears to be on the verge of suffering a similar revolt.

John Cena confronted Wade Barrett (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The sun appears to be setting on Wade Barrett’s empire. The cocky Englishman called out John Cena and told him once again that he would never hire him back onto WWE. In that case, Cena informed him, he will never stop ambushing The Nexus. Stalemate.

In a moment of frustration, Barrett ordered his Nexus minions to attack. In a moment of utter defiance, however, each member of the band of outlaws turned their backs on Barrett, walking instead to the locker room area. Their mutiny left the Englishman a sitting duck, and Cena knew it. He charged Barrett, who somehow managed to squirm away and dart for the lockers.

Once in the locker room area, the Nexus leader beelined for David Otunga, who gladly told Barrett he has two options: Either he hires Cena back next week, or the Englishman is no longer a part of The Nexus.

Randy Orton def. Alex Riley by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS)
WWE Champion The Miz gave nothing away. Rather than tell Randy Orton the type of match the two would be competing in at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, Miz said he would show The Viper. As his assistant, Alex Riley, clashed with Orton in the squared circle, “The Cleveland Screamer” lurked nearby. Sensing that The Viper may be surging past his assistant, Miz interfered and ambushed his rival.

After the disqualification, Miz revealed the type of match they would compete in by setting up a wooden table inside the ring. With Orton dazed, Miz prepared to plunge him through to table. Instead, The Viper rebounded and nearly coiled around Miz, who managed to scamper off just in time. No matter, Orton seized Miz’s assistant and splintered the wooden table with him instead.

Divas Champion Natalya def. Melina (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The only Diva ever to graduate from the Hart Dungeon proved too dominant for Melina and notched yet another victory, one in a recent string of successes. After her win, Natalya was ambushed by Lay-Cool, though, who attacked the Divas Champion in a petty show of spite.

John Morrison interrupted Sheamus’s coronation ceremony (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Sheamus may have seized the 2010 King of the Ring title last week, but John Morrison thinks the Irishman is still just a court jester. The Shaman of Sexy interrupted his rival’s coronation ceremony. Morrison decided to implement a crowning achievement of his own and knocked The Celtic Warrior from the ring.

Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov def. WWE Tag Team Champions Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater, The Usos and Mark Henry & Yoshi Tatsu in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Team Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Italy and Russia banded together to take on the world – and they won. Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov outlasted WWE Tag Team Champions Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater, The Usos and Mark Henry & Yoshi Tatsu in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Team Match. The shocking win came after John Cena disrupted the bout, slipping out from under the ring to rattle his former Nexus cohorts, Slater & Gabriel. The distraction allowed the international men of misery to capitalize and capture the WWE Tag Team Titles to much fanfare, namely Santino’s imaginary trombone.

Tyson Kidd def. David Hart Smith (WATCH  | PHOTOS)
Sheesh, talk about your “giant” interruptions. After suffering an underhanded attack from his former partner Tyson Kidd three weeks ago, David Hart Smith appeared to be getting his revenge. In a match against Kidd, Hart Smith was punishing his former friend when Kidd cheated to get the win. After the match, Hart Smith attacked out of frustration, but Kidd had been accompanied to the ring by an anonymous man, estimated to be at least seven feet tall and easily 300 pounds. The mystery man intervened on Kidd’s behalf and leveled Hart Smith with a thunderous clothesline.

John Cena attacked David Otunga (WATCH)
Room service, anyone? After conducting a Raw interview via satellite from his hotel room, David Otunga was confronted and attacked by a stealthy John Cena, who had infiltrated the space. Anticipating a Cena strike, however, Husky Harris ambushed the former WWE employee from behind. Despite the trap, though, Cena managed to beat back his attackers, with Otunga bolting for the door, leaving his Nexus cohort behind to feel the pain.

U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella def. Ted DiBiase & Maryse (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Ted DiBiase & Maryse’s relationship continues to circle the drain. This week, the tarnished twosome faced off against United States Champion Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella. Thanks to a little “Twin Magic,” courtesy of Nikki Bella, Bryan and Brie seized the win. Afterward, a victorious Bryan strolled off with the Bellas on his arms while DiBiase was forced to contend with a miffed Maryse.

Michael Cole apologized to Jerry Lawler; Randy Orton vs. Alex Riley arranged (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Jerry “The King” Lawler wasn’t in the mood. After Michael Cole interfered in his match last week against WWE Champion The Miz – and likely cost him the title – Lawler sat impatiently through an apology from his announce partner. Before “The King” could let his fists do the talking, though, the anonymous Raw General Manager informed the two that if either of them got physical, they would be fired. Not only that, the two were forced to shake hands in the ring – and were then joined by a surprise guest.

Randy Orton used the occasion to send a message to The Miz: He vowed that he would reclaim his title. The WWE Champion informed The Viper, however, that, according to the Raw GM, he is not required to defend his title for another two weeks at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Miz’s assistant, Alex Riley, on the other hand, was fair game. The “Cleveland Screamer’s” associate challenged Orton to a match, which The Viper readily accepted despite nursing a knee injury he suffered on the night he lost he title to Miz. To prove that, regardless of his knee, he can still punish opponents, Orton leveled Cole with a crushing RKO.
