The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that Matt Hardy had elbow surgery while he was out recovering from a burst appendix in November. This is one of the reasons why Hardy was out of action for so long, however, is now said to be 100%.

Chris Jericho has an injury scare Posted by Randy Gordon on 03/02/2008 at 02:51 PM
Credit: Gerweck.net
At Friday night's WWE house show in Cape Girardeau, MO Chris Jericho seemed to get injured. Jericho went for the Lionsault but Mr. Kennedy was too far away and Y2J landed akwardly on his head. The referee tossed up the X sign with his hands a few times but Jericho was able to get back up and lock on a very poor Walls of Jericho for the win. Following the match several trainers came out and helped him to the back.
Jericho did compete at last night's event in Louisville, KY so he seems to be fine. Those in attendance in MO though, said it was a very scary situation and it seems as if Y2J is very lucky he wasn't majorly injured.
- According to data compiled by Nielson Media Research, last night's edition of WWE SmackDown did a 2.6 fast national broadcast rating. We will have the final number next week.
TUCSON, Ariz. Competing for the first time in more than a year, Big Show wasted little time in sending a loud message to all the Superstars of WWE and, more importantly, his WrestleMania XXIV opponent Floyd Mayweather. The Worlds Largest Athlete is back and bigger, stronger and more dangerous than ever.
In a Handicap Match, Big Show laid waste to his unfortunate opponents, decimating two challengers in dominating fashion. With just four weeks until WWE descends onto Orlando, Fla., the giant showed the world why he has always been one of the most feared competitors in sports-entertainment. Big Show KOd his competition with a barrage of left and right hooks and other boxing moves for the impressive victory, and then had some choice words for Mayweather, warning, I am going to break Floyd Mayweather in two at WrestleMania. This Monday on Raw, Show will have another chance to display his power when he faces a professional fighter in the ring.
Branded for war Moments before Batista and tag team partner Kane entered into action against United States Champion MVP and The Great Khali, The Animal approached General Manager Vickie Guerrero and requested to represent SmackDown against Raws Umaga at WrestleMania XXIV. SmackDown Diva Maryse had been in the GMs office currying the favor of Vickie and encouraged Guerrero, who then granted Batista his wish. The former World Champion will take on the Samoan Bulldozer in the Citrus Bowl. Later, with a focused attack, Batista & Kane defeated Khali & MVP when The Animal displayed his unbelievable strength by delivering both a spinebuster and a spear to the Punjabi giant to seal the win.
Changing the face of winning Jesse & Festus got the biggest win yet in their impressive winning streak when they defeated WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison in a non-title affair. The biscuits n gravy duos victory may have proven to the champions that they can't brush aside the awkward tandem, and may have given unexpected momentum to another team looking to win the titles, Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney, who challenge the champions Tuesday on ECW on Sci Fi. As seen in the WWE Mobile on AT&T Exclusive, the ECW pair might not be the only team with gold in their sights next week. More...
Also on SmackDown With Michelle McCool by his side, Jamie Noble headed to the ring to take on Chuck Palumbo, hopeful to gain retribution for the injury he sustained at the hands of Palumbo weeks ago on SmackDown. With his new attitude feeding his rage, revved-up Superstar Palumbo once again took his aggression out on Noble, leaving him punished in the center of the ring after a devastating Full Throttle.
In other action, Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore faced Deuce & Domino on Friday night, and SmackDowns resident redneck Yang picked up the win for his team when he delivered a Moonsault to Deuce.
Out for blood After curtailing a battle between Big Daddy V and Balls Mahoney, Undertaker paved his own dark path to WrestleMania XXIV on Friday night. Letting nothing stand in his way of getting to World Heavyweight Champion Edge, The Phenom decimated Big Daddy V and Balls, and then demanded an immediate start to his match with Zack Ryder. With Edge and Curt Hawkins at ringside, The Deadman destroyed Ryder, but was left open for an attack from the Rated-R Superstar. The No. 1 contender wouldnt be kept down, however, and Undertaker fought back and bloodied Edges minions with his dangerous submission maneuver while the Ultimate Opportunist fled for the second week in a row.
(belga/edp)
Thursday, 20 September 2007 NEWS AND VIDEO FROM THURSDAYS iMPACT! BROADCAST ON SPIKE TV The road to the Destination X Pay-Per-View continues By Bill Banks
There are several major news items for report from Thursdays iMPACT! broadcast as TNA Wrestling counts down the days until the March 9 Destination X Pay-Per-View event:
- On Thursdays broadcast, Kurt and Karen Angle were still arguing about their career and marriage. In fact, Kurt was especially mean-spirited to Karen, making her cry as a result. Karens other husband AJ Styles came to her defense, with AJ even asking Angle to apologize to her, but the TNA World Heavyweight Champion wouldnt hear any of it.
- Kurt Angle faced Kevin Nash in the main event on the broadcast Nash looked to have it won after hitting his Powerbomb on Angle, but referee Earl Hebner was on the outside (along with AJ Styles) tending to Karen Angle, who had been knocked down inadvertently by Angle during the bout. Kurt Angle took that opportunity to hit Nash with a low blow and score the pin with the Olympic Slam.
- In addition, Booker T called out Robert Roode to settle their war once and for all, but Roodes manager Payton Banks came out instead telling Booker that Roode was en route and would arrive later. When Payton ended up slapping Booker, Traci Brooks came out and the two ladies brawled in a catfight! Later in the broadcast, all four TNA superstars ended up fighting again and this time Roode and Banks handcuffed Booker and Brooks to the ring ropes and beat them unmercifully!
- Shark Boy and Curry Man were scheduled to face Team 3D, but neither Brother Ray nor Brother Devon could make weight this week. As a result, Shark Boy put out an open challenge, which was answered by Black Reign and Rellik. Team 3D and Johnny Devine got involved in the bout as did Kaz and Eric Young...but once again, Young was afraid to get near Rellik and Black Reign!
- In tag team action, Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner (along with Rhaka Khan) and Maple Leaf Muscle Petey Williams defeated X Division Champion Black Machismo Jay Lethal and The Guru Sonjay Dutt when Williams beat Dutt with the Canadian Destroyer. Prior to the bout, Steiner told Williams that he was almost ready for his initiation but Steiner didnt elaborate what that meant.
- Also on the broadcast, Eric Young faced James Stom in a Ladder Match for the Drinking Championship. Due to an apparent fear of heights, Storm was hesitant to climb the ladder so Jacqueline did it for him and pulled down the title! However, after the bout The War Machine Rhino hit the ring and nailed Storm with a GORE and also took the Drinking Championship in the process!
- In singles action, TNA Womens Champion Awesome Kong annihilated Angelina Love, even injuring her during the bout. After the match, both ODB and Gail Kim hit the ring to attempt to inflict damage on Kong before the three-way title match at Destination X.
This weeks edition of ECW on Sci Fi featuring Santino Marella scored a 1.27 rating. This is down from last weeks 1.43 rating which featured The Nature Boy, Ric Flair.
Judas Mesias may be on his way out of TNA. The word going around backstage at Tuesday's Impact tapings was that Mesias has worked his last match with the company for a while. Both sides are open to working together in the future, but several people backstage are under the impression that they don't have any future plans for him.
After joining TNA last fall, Mesias is still working without a contract. Mesias is one of a few talents working under a pay-per-appearance deal with TNA. The reason for this is that some non-contracted wrestlers enjoy the freedom of working non-TNA shows, and they wouldn't be able to work certain shows if they signed with TNA. In Mesias' case, he's affiliated with the AAA promotion in Mexico, which is a major promotion there. If he signed a contract with TNA, he probably wouldn't be allowed to work there anymore.
Mesias makes approximately $300 more per match in TNA than in AAA, so that figures to around $500 per shot. However he can wrestle up to five nights a week in Mexico, and earn nearly $100,000 per year there, which is presumably more than TNA is willing to pay him.
Kofi Kingston & Kelly Kelly def. Santino Marella & Layla Stevie Richards def. Mike Knox Tommy Dreamer & Colin Delaney def. WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz (Non-title) CM Punk def. Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin (Triple Threat Match; No. 1 Contender)
TUCSON, Ariz. At No Way Out, Chavo Guerrero established himself as ECW Champion, but he didnt put to an end the mix of Superstars coveting and fighting for his title.
Speaking of mixes, a Mixed Tag Team Match started the evening as Kofi Kingston & Kelly Kelly took on Santino Marella & Layla. Considering the blond beauty has struggled against her rival Diva throughout recent months, the Jamaican Superstar was a smart competitor to team up with. Set on ridding his ECW paradise of any trouble, Kingston has yet to lose a match since joining the extreme brand. Tonight was nothing different.
Kellys three-count pin of Layla brought her a second consecutive victory against her former fellow Extreme Exposé member, leaving Layla to ponder what she must do to contain the blonde once again. For Santino, the loss simply rubs salt into the wound already opened by his anger over his girlfriend, Maria, posing in Playboy. More on Maria's Playboy experience ...
In other tag team action, Tommy Dreamer helped Colin Delaney experience his first taste of victory on ECW on Sci Fi in their first attempt at teaming up. The duo faced their all-too-familiar rivals, the WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz, in hopes of getting the better of the overconfident pair. When the ECW Original got the pin, the arena exploded in celebration. No one was happier than Delaney, who enjoyed his first win since strutting to ring to suffer painful defeats at the hands of giant after giant. (WATCH)
The win was extra special, coming at the expense of the champions, who will put their gold on the line next week against Dreamer & Delaney to prove this contest was nothing more than a fluke. If the WWE Tag Team Champions are wrong, be ready to see the young, small-framed Superstar hoisting a title in the air alongside the fighting Original the next time ECW on Sci Fi airs.
Dreamers fellow ECW Original Stevie Richards picked up a win as well, as he defeated Mike Knox en route to his third straight victory since returning to the squared circle. Richards has showed no signs of slowing down after his nine-month recovery period from throat surgery.
The main event pitted CM Punk, Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin in a Triple Threat Match with an ECW Title opportunity on the line. The Straightedge Superstar has once again placed himself in the perfect situation. Will he win back his gold when he squares off against Chavo Guerrero next Tuesday? Catch ECW on Sci Fi at 10/9 CT and find out. (WATCH)

John Cena makes interesting remarks about The Rock Posted by Bobby Spade on 02/26/2008 at 02:37 PM
Credit: PWInsider.com
The UK Sun has posted an interview with John Cena, touting that he's upset with Dwayne Johnson for turning his back on wresting fans.
The preview quote for the interview features Cena commenting, "He is a genuinely nice guy and a fantastic human being. What I kind of get peeved about, and this is my Achilles heel, is that I've wanted to do this my whole life. Rock falls into that category. At one point he loved wrestling and wanted to do this all his life. So explain to me why he can't come back. Simply put it's because he wants to be an actor and there's nothing wrong with that. He's very good and very successful. Associating with sports entertainment doesn't do much for his acting career. I get it. Just don't f*** me around and tell me that you love this. That's the only thing that gets me really p***ed off. Our fan base have so much admiration for him, he's got to respect that. He doesn't give anything back."
World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes def. Santino Marella & Carlito (Non-title) Chris Jericho def. Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy (WrestleMania XXIV Money in the Bank Qualifying Match, Non-title) Umaga def. DH Smith Shawn Michaels def. Lance Cade (disqualification) John Cena & Triple H def. Mr. Kennedy & WWE Champion Randy Orton
PHOENIX Is Hornswoggle not the little grape sired by Mr. McMahons grapefruits? Is he really the feisty long-lost son of the man who loves to fight, Finlay?
These stunning allegations came from John Bradshaw Layfield after Mr. McMahon demanded that he apologize for decimating Hornswoggle last week on Raw. The Chairman sheepishly admitted to the U.S. Airways Center crowd he made a mistake leaving his alleged illegitimate son to the brutal machinations of JBL in a steel cage while he attempted to teach his son a lesson in tough love.
When McMahon ordered JBL, the self-made millionaire made a revelation that hushed our fans.
Im sorry, JBL responded. Im sorry I didnt do it sooner!
With the Chairman flabbergasted and enraged, JBL told McMahon that the little leprechaun might not be who he seems.
I have it on very good advice that Hornswoggle is not your son, JBL claimed.
JBL claimed that Hornswoggles alleged ruse was a conspiracy that reached into the highest levels of WWE and possibly included McMahons own family.
As the Chairman struggled with the news, the wrestling god also claimed that Hornswoggles protector, Finlay, knew all along that the leprechaun was not a McMahon but his own son.
Hornswoggle is Finlays son, JBL claimed. Hornswoggle had no idea but Finlay knew the whole time.
Mr. McMahon was stunned, but told JBL hed face a worse beating if hes lying about Hornswoggle. But the brash millionaire promised to produce documentation that would back up his claims.
[Finlays] Irish eyes arent smiling. They are guilty as hell, JBL said. And the next time Finlays in a WWE ring your ring Im going to make him admit it. Video
Stay tuned.
Y2J-OK Raw General Manager William Regal made the road to WrestleMania XXIV a rough one for Chris Jericho. Y2J wanted entry into the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but needed to defeat the red-hot Jeff Hardy to earn it in a qualifying match.
In a bout full of counters and near falls from both men, Y2J defeated the Intercontinental Champion to earn his second Money in the Bank berth (he participated in the inaugural match at WrestleMania 21). The two will cross paths once again in Orlando, Fla., at the Citrus Bowl, as Hardy qualified for Money in the Bank last week. Match preview | Video
A Showstopper for Orlando Shawn Michaels defeated former World Tag Team Champion Lance Cade by disqualification after his partner Trevor Murdoch interfered. The Showstopper clocked both Murdoch and Cade for their trouble.
After the match, Class of 2008 Hall of Fame inductee Ric Flair came to ringside to thank HBK for making the announcement last week. He then asked Michaels to wrestle him at WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando, Fla.
At first, he declined due to Mr. McMahons retirement stipulation placed on the Nature Boys matches. But he eventually relented, proudly accepting the challenge to face Flair on the Grandest Stage in sports-entertainment. Video | Match Preview
A Bothered Beau In a non-title battle between the World Tag Team Champions and their No. 1 contenders, Cody Rhodes & Hardcore Holly defeated Santino Marella & Carlito, thanks to Jerry The King Lawlers invite for Marellas Playboy-bound girlfriend to do some guest commentary.
As the new cover girl headed to the announcers position, Marella became distracted by Lawlers invitation, which gave Holly the opportunity to score the pinfall with his Alabama Slam, leaving the Italian even more frustrated as the media attention flows to his Maria."
Samoan crush Umaga is looking as dangerous as ever, dispatching DH Smith in short order on Raw with a devastating Samoan Spike.
After the match, GM William Regal announced that hell be sending Umaga to WrestleMania XXIV as Raws representative in a match for brand superiority against a SmackDown opponent yet to be named by brand GM Vickie Guerrero. Match preview | Video
Turnabout is fair Game In the nights main event, the unlikely team of John Cena & Triple H defeated WWE Champion Randy Orton & Mr. Kennedy in a tag team brawl. Cena picked up the victory after trapping Mr. Kennedy in the STFU, but Kennedy made the former champ pay. As Cena and The Game stared each other down, the Green Bay gladiator snuck up on Cena and leveled him with the Mic Check, as The Game did nothing to intervene.
The nights beginning foreshadowed its end. A photo-op among Cena, Triple H and Orton, who all want to walk out of a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XXIV as WWE Champion, degenerated into a full-scale brawl. Full story |
SAN DIEGO Coming off an explosive No Way Out, SmackDown kicked off the final Road to WrestleMania with World Heavyweight Champion Edge beaming from his win over Rey Mysterio. The World Champion came to San Diego intent to fire the first salvo toward his WrestleMania XXIV opponent, a man who is undefeated on The Grandest Stage of Them All: Undertaker.
You think Im afraid, Edge asked our fans, only to vehemently state: Im not afraid. Undertaker is an opportunity to cement my legacy. The Rated-R Superstar then made the boldest statement of his career, telling our fans and The Deadman that The Streak would be broken this year. I will not fall like those before me.
The Phenom had heard enough, and the lights went out in the arena. When they came back on, Undertaker unleashed his fury, disposing of Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder to make a statement of his own. Edge took his Ultimate Opportunity to escape the ring and the clutches of The Phenom, the man who will look to add to his 15-0 WrestleMania record by winning back the World Heavyweight Championship. (WATCH)
Pained participants Coming off the heels of the Elimination Chamber Match this past Sunday, Batista and MVP entered their match still showing the effects of the sadistic structure. Last week, Batista scored a victory over the Ballin Superstar, but MVP declared that as far as The Animal was concerned, Lightning will not strike twice. But after three thunderous spinebusters to his sore back, and an earth-shattering Batista Bomb, the United States Champion could not weather the storm, losing his second straight non-title match to The Animal.
Reversal of fortune In a rematch of their WrestleMania 23 collision almost one year ago, Kane and The Great Khali clashed once more when the two behemoths stepped into the squared circle on SmackDown. Khali was without Ranjin Singh, who was injured during the Elimination Chamber Match at No Way Out. When it appeared that the Punjabi giant had the match won with his devastating Khali Vise Grip, the Big Red Monster shocked his opponent with an unexpected reversal that brought both men down and pinned Khalis shoulders to the mat for a three-count with Kanes head still clutched in the paws of his foe.
Gold in the bank Shelton Benjamin and Jimmy Wang Yang fought on SmackDown with a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania on the line. SmackDowns resident redneck has been on an impressive streak in 2008, but ECWs Gold Standard would not be denied the chance to compete with a guaranteed title opportunity up for grabs. As Yang went for his Moonsault, Shelton ducked and then dropped Yang for the pin earning Benjamin a spot in his third Money in the Bank Match. Sheltons victory puts him alongside Jeff Hardy and Mr. Kennedy in Money in the Bank Ladder Match at The Granddaddy of Them All. (WATCH)
V for Vendetta After failing to win the Elimination Chamber Match this past Sunday, Big Daddy V arrived in San Diego with one thing on his mind retribution. That vindictive attitude spelled bad news for his opponent, Shannon Moore, who was overmatched from the moment the bell rang. Big Daddy V controlled the match, and with each offensive move he seemed to grow angrier. Moore gave it his all against the mountainous monster, but after a huge Samoan drop and a 500-pound elbow, The Reject had no chance, as Big Daddy V was victorious.
Bringin the crazy Chuck Palumbo rode to the ring Friday night with a mission: To send his ex-friend Michelle McCool and her friend, Jamie Noble, a message. Palumbos message would go through Matt Jackson, but the revved-up Superstar made it clear that physical punishment is not good enough in his eyes. Chuck Palumbo toyed with Jackson before getting the win, as McCool watched in disgust from a monitor in the locker room area.
This is the face of a winning streak Since returning a few weeks ago to SmackDown, Jesse & Festus have not tasted defeat. The duo stepped into the ring against Deuce & Domino, intent to keep that streak alive. The boys from the Other Side of the Tracks tried anything to turn the tide in their favor including using Cherry as a shield leading to a bloodied nose for Jesse, but the biscuits n gravy tandem found a way to win.
Welcome back to Friday Night SmackDown Also on Friday, the beautiful Maryse returned to SmackDown, and requested to speak with Assistant General Manager Theodore Long, who gladly obliged the blond bombshell in a closed-door meeting.
Hometown heros hell An injured Rey Mysterio told his hometown fans that his injured biceps would require immediate surgery and a solemn Mysterio added, I won't be able to be a part of WrestleMania.
One person in San Diego unsympathetic to Reys pain was SmackDowns General Manager Vickie Guerrero, who ordered Rey into one-on-one action with ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero but Vickie wasnt finished. After Rey somehow defeated Chavo, Vickie brought out Big Show, who demolished Rey in an attempt to send a message to Mysterios friend, Floyd Mayweather. Read the full story
Thursday, 20 September 2007 NEWS AND VIDEO FROM THURSDAYS iMPACT! BROADCAST ON SPIKE TV The road to the March 9 Destination X Pay-Per-View continues By Bill Banks
There are several major news items for report from Thursdays iMPACT! broadcast on SpikeTV as TNA Wrestling heads towards the Sunday, March 9 Destination X Pay-Per-View event!
- Regarding the fallout from the AJ Styles & Karen Angle marriage last week, the broadcast started off with Kurt and Karen Angle in an argument over what happened. Kurt became so fed up with Karen that he told her to go spend time with her other husband which Karen gladly obliged!
- After the argument, AJ Styles treated Karen to a honeymoon of sorts during the broadcast, as he took her to a fast food restaurant and a Gator Park!
- Speaking of Styles, he and Tomko faced the team of Kip James and Bullet Bob Armstrong. However, when an injured BG James threw his crutch in the ring for Kip to use, Kip instead smashed Bullet Bob and cost them the bout. Afterwards, Kip James attacked BG and left him laying as well. Later, Kip did an interview in the back saying the Voodoo Kin Mafia was over and that if BG James wants a war, hes got it! It appears to be a very bitter ending to one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history.
- In the iMPACT! main event, Kurt Angle defeated Booker T after interference by Bookers nemesis Robert Roode. After the bout, an all-out brawl erupted between The Angle Alliance and Samoa Joe, Kevin Nash and Christian Cage! As iMPACT! went off the air, Kevin Nash challenged Kurt Angle to face him on next Thursdays broadcast!
- iMPACT! also saw TNA Management Director Jim Cornette honor X Division Champion Black Machismo Jay Lethal for all of his accomplishments in TNA Wrestling. Before the end of the ceremony, Lethal finally asked SoCal Val out on a date to which she replied Ohhh Yaaaaa!.
- Speaking of Lethal, he will defend the X Division Championship at Destination X against Maple Leaf Muscle Petey Williams, who earned a title shot on Thursday night by beating (with help from Scott Steiner) Sonjay Dutt and Johnny Devine.
- Samoa Joe once again refused to sign his new contract, as he told Cornette he would only sign it after he won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Kurt Angle!
- Kaz defeated Rellik in singles action, but was brutally attacked by both Rellik and Black Reign after the bout. Eric Young came out to help Kaz, but EY was afraid to confront Rellik and Black Reign!
- The War Machine Rhino took part in a candid sitdown interview to discuss his personal issues and his ongoing war with Cowboy James Storm.
- Team 3D were once again weighed this week, this time with Brother Ray miraculously making the cut while Brother Devon was over the limit! As a result, Brother Ray faced Shark Boy and Curry Man in a handicap match and won when Devon (from the outside) used the scale to smash Shark Boy.
- In tag team action, miscommunication cost Gail Kim and ODB their bout against Roxxi Laveaux and Jacqueline! Gail and ODB got into another heated argument following the bout as neither appears to be on the same page.
- Rory McAllister of the Highlanders is recovering from surgery he had last week to repair a torn pectoral muscle. Right now there is no timetable on his return; however he is expected to be out at least six months.
Kofi Kingston def. Local The Miz def. Colin Delaney Stevie Richards def. James Curtis Ric Flair & CM Punk def. Elijah Burke & Shelton Benjamin
SAN DIEGO Tuesday was a night in which experience prevailed, as the Nature Boy Ric Flair made a memorable appearance just one day after being named to the 2008 WWE Hall of Fame class.
By contrast with the 16-time World Champion, the gutsy Colin Delaney's inexperience took a toll on him when he faced The Miz in one-on-one action. The last time Delaney, Tommy Dreamer, The Miz and John Morrison were all called to the ring, Dreamer emerged victorious with the hopeful Superstar in his corner. The luck changed tonight, however, when the self-proclaimed "Chick Magnet" notched a win and added insult to injury or more injury to injury by beating down Delaney and Dreamer with the help of his co-WWE Tag Team Champion.
Another young Superstar was in action, but had a better outing. Kofi Kingston continued his winning streak, remaining undefeated since joining the extreme brand. So far, ECW has truly been a paradise for the Jamaican competitor. After his victory, Kingston stood in the middle of the ring with Joey Styles and announced, "ECW to me is like paradise ... if there's trouble in paradise, you know Kofi Kingston is going to take care of it."
Stevie Richards, on the other hand, is as experienced as Superstars get. The ECW Original earned his second consecutive victory since making his return to the ring following his recovery from throat surgery. Richards is once again forced to prove himself. So far, it doesnt appear this go-around will be any different from the other times Stevie overcame adversity and succeeded.
Speaking of experience, Maria has taken advantage of a major opportunity to pose for Playboy. Kelly Kelly congratulated her on her contract and said she wouldnt be opposed if she had the chance to pose, one day.
The night concluded with Flair adding another win to the most impressive résumé in sports-entertainment history. Alongside CM Punk, the Nature Boy put Shelton Benjamin & Elijah Burke in their place. More on this story ...
Jeff Hardy def. Snitsky (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match) Paul Burchill def. Super Crazy Mr. Kennedy def. Val Venis (Money in the Bank Qualifying Match) Mr. McMahon vs. Hornswoggle (No Contest) John Cena def. Randy Orton
ANAHEIM, Calif. For anyone with a sense of family or decency having to watch a distraught Finlay carry Hornswoggles tiny, unmoving body from the ring Monday night must have left them with icy chills and a sad, sick feeling in the pit of their stomach.
A week prior, a humiliated Mr. McMahon arranged a Steel Cage Match with his bastard son after losing to Hornswoggle in a No Disqualification Match. In that bout, Finlay had intervened on behalf of his lucky charm despite threats by the Chairman that he would be fired if he did.
This week, Mr. McMahon ensured solitude for him and his bastard son and dished out the most brutal form of tough love, thanks to the confines of the steel cage and of all people, JBL. With despair haunting in his eyes, Finlay could only plead in vain to end the cruelty.
But JBL stomped his boot down on the Irishmans plan, attacking him and handcuffing him to the ring ropes. The Lonestar Loudmouth then lumbered into the cage, where he rammed Hornswoggle against the unforgiving steel. The brutality proved so great that even Mr. McMahon was take aback.
Only after the Chairman and JBL had moved from the ring, did Finlay, in a moving display of compassion, free himself and carry his fallen friend to the locker room, where Hornswoggle was evaluated with head trauma and internal injuries (WWE.com will have more updates on his condition as they become available). Bank Shot The night after nearly winning in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, Jeff Hardy flew into Raw to prove that he is far from grounded. The Rainbow-haired Warrior conquered the yuck-mouthed ogre, Snitsky, to qualify for this year's Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania. PHOTOS | WATCH
Hall Monitor Shawn Michaels did the honors as he announced that Ric Flair will become the first member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2008. The Nature Boy also becomes the first active competitor to be inducted. WATCH
Sibling Revelry Paul Burchill sure knows how to please his sister, Katie Lea. For the second week in a row, the British brawler defeated his opponent. This week, Super Crazy was sacrificed for Katie Leas delight.
Big Showdown After having his nose crushed at No Way Out, the returning Big Show was fuming and ready to confront the man who bloodied him, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather. As the two exchanged unpleasantries, Big Show challenged the Pretty Boy to a match, which Mayweather accepted. Stay tuned.
Banking On It Mr. Kennedy may not have retired Ric Flair in their Career Threatening Match at No Way Out, but he did make a statement the following night on Raw. The loudmouth from Green Bay, Wis., defeated Val Venis in the night's second Money in the Bank qualifying match.
Playboy 1, Santino 0 WWE fans rejoice! Maria will be posing for Playboy sometime this Spring. In a cynical play, her boyfriend Santino Marella agreed to let her pose if she could defeat Womens Champion Beth Phoenix. The tall order looked impossible until Candice Michelle made her long-awaited return to Raw, and, in an attempt to avenge herself against the Diva who put her on the shelf for four months, she distracted The Glamazon long enough for Maria to take advantage and secure the pinfall.
Threes Company After Randy Orton robbed John Cena of a chance at the main event at WrestleMania XXIV by slapping the referee and getting disqualified in their match at No Way Out, Raw General Manager William Regal arranged a non-title bout between the two Monday with Triple H serving as guest referee. As The Champ pinned Orton, The Game intensely stared him down and reluctantly gave him the three-count. Cenas win sets up a Triple Threat Title Match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
Rey Mysterio's Wrestlemania status revealed Posted by Bobby Spade on 02/19/2008 at 02:09 AM
Rey Mysterio will not be wrestling at WrestleMania after all. Mysterio is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair his torn biceps muscle this Friday, reports prowrestling.NET. He will miss between four and six months. After missing WrestleMania last year
There are fears in WWE about Rey Mysterio's ability to stay healthy. He had been working a reduced travel schedule as requested, and yet suffered another serious injury. Despite the torn biceps, Mysterio, 33, doesn't want to go through with the surgery right now, and prefers to work Wrestlemania this year since he missed the event last year.
